AN: So many of you are confused as to what I am showing. I will mainly be showing other clips/parts of other 'worlds' like r6, tf2, Jojo, etc.
I might also show clips of other universes of RWBY but that would be rare. Also, if somebody wants to give me apart from their fanfic and permission to use it I can make a chapter of them reacting to it. Kind of like a mini "RWBY reads _."
Anyway, thanks for your positive feedback. Many of you seem excited to post your ideas in the reviews, and I am currently going to keep a list of ideas in a separate doc to keep track of it.
Also, there was a typo in the last chapter. I put "Article 51" instead of "Article 5." My bad, I'll fix it.
Finally, I'm not sure if I'm just not looking hard enough, but nobody has ever done a "RWBY watches R6" FF before. At least none that I have seen. If there is, tell me in the reviews. If there isn't, well then I guess I'll be the first.
Standard disclaimer, I don't own r6, or RWBY, blah blah blah
"A similar terrorist problem? How so?" Ozpin questioned. Older Ruby hummed in thought.
"Well, not exactly the same if I'm being honest. Both are terrorists but they both have different goals. The White Fang, no matter how far they strayed from their goal, was based on the idea of Faunus rights. This terrorist group seems to only want death and chaos." That seemed to come as a shock to the Huntresses and Huntsman in training, but the older ones just shook their heads. Some people wanted to see the world burn, and that was the end of the story. However, Older Ruby wasn't done talking.
"Also, this world doesn't have Aura." That one surprised everybody. Even Ozpin looked like he almost dropped his cane. Older Ruby seemed amused.
"No Grimm, Huntsman, dust, or Faunus. In this world, everybody can die to a single bullet. Humans are at the top of the food chain, populating every corner of the world. In fact, Grimm, Huntsman, dust, and Aura are almost exclusive to our multiverse. There are still other universes with animal/human hybrids."
Everybody seemed shocked. Ironwood seemed to get out of his shock first. And his emotions went right from shock into anger.
"So you're saying that even without Aura, Dust, Grimm and Faunus there are still people fighting for death? For what reason!"
Ironwood's words seemed to spur his specialists. They were about to voice their protest as well, but Ozpin held his hand up.
"I believe we are getting off topic. I think we should allow Ms. Rose here to show us this universe. It may give us some insight."
Ozpin succeeded in calming down Ironwood and his specialists, but they were still annoyed. Team RWBY and JNPR were shifting awkwardly in their seats, not exposed to the idea of meaningless killing before this. At least with Adam, he tried justifying it behind Faunus rights.
"Just a heads up, this first part is from the perspective of a military commander." Older Ruby added.
Older Ruby snapped her finger and the film started playing.
The screen started fading away from black, showing a person pulling back a rubber glove in slow motion.
"I called you here today because we face dire circumstances." The voice was female, with a grave tone in it.
Younger Ruby couldn't help but get goosebumps from how serious the voice was. Yang noticed her sister's discomfort and wrapped a comforting arm around her.
The scene cuts to a close up of the person's face behind a hazmat suit, before fading to black.
"Our intelligence has confirmed the existence of a new threat that is unlike any we have seen before."
The scene cuts to show the woman talking was a dark skinned black hair woman dressed in a suit.
"Is she from the government of this world?" Ironwood asked. He was curious about how this world's government worked.
"She is often referred to as 'Six', or the future overseer for the counter-terrorist squad. She will later be replaced after retiring for a new 'Six' who likes to just be called Harry. He is… I'm rambling again. Back to the film!" Older Ruby declared.
The scene cuts to a hazmat tent with plastic doors. Multiple people in hazmat suits are working in it.
"This organization has the ability to carry out attacks anywhere in the world."
The scene shows the people using multiple tools such as gas tanks and water boilers.
"They are highly lethal, and indiscriminate of age, religion, or nationality."
As she is speaking, the scene cuts to them soldering electronics and lighting a fire before cutting back to Six.
"Anybody else getting the vibe that they are making something they really shouldn't be?" Jaune questioned. He was trying to figure out what they were making, but so far there was not enough information. The other members of team JNPR and team RWBY nodded, but all the adults were too focused on deciphering the film. Older Reaby just smiled.
"You'll find out what they are making in the future. For now, watch the movie."
The scene cuts to the people plugging in an explosive and mixing chemical compounds.
"The potential for loss of human life and psychological terror is substantial, and cannot be ignored."
It zooms in to show the chemicals breaking down other materials.
Glynda seemed to recognize it first. Having to repair things through telekinesis, she has to know at least a little about chemistry and atoms.
"Are they… making poison?" Glynda asked, as if afraid of the answer.
Older Ruby nodded, confirming their fears. "It is a highly lethal poison that they plan to use. A few breaths of this, and you'll be six feet under pretty quickly."
They were all so shocked, they didn't notice how relaxed older Ruby was with this. After all, this wasn't the worst world she had seen.
The scene cuts to the people distributing it into bottles.
"They are the very definition of an unknown quantity."
The scene zooms out to show hundreds of said bottles.
Younger Ruby had to cover her mouth so she didn't let out a cry of shock. Even the normally stoic Ren seemed concerned.
The scene cuts back to Six.
"Our only choice of action is to meet force with force."
Six's voice seemed to get more ironclad as she spoke.
Qrow groaned.
"It's Jimmy 2.0. Blow things up first, ask questions never." Qrow complained.
Ironwood seemed ready to retort, but he was interrupted by Ozpin.
"Given the extreme circumstances, I believe we can excuse the barbaric choice." Ozpin reasoned.
Ironwood looked smugly at Qrow before realizing Ozpin basically called him barbaric.
"As of this moment my program is reactivated and I am handing command of all global field operations to you."
Qrow snorted.
"This isn't Jimmy 2.0. Jimmy would never trust anybody but himself with that kind of power."
Ironwood glared at Qrow.
"Of course not, when people like you exist." Ironwood countered.
Qrow seemed about ready to retort but Glynda's glare silenced him.
The scene cuts to a soldier gearing up. The soldier zips up their vest and attaches grenades. As they tie up their boots, Six starts speaking again.
"Recruit your operators from among the world's foremost elite. Borders and protocols are irrelevant."
The scene flashes between resumes and profiles.
This time, it seemed that Glynda was exasperated.
"This is why we don't give you command over a lot of things. You would probably go off and make an Ace-Ops team but around the whole world. And yes, that is a BAD thing." Glynda added the last part when it looked like Ironwood was about to comment on that.
The screen flashes between a man reloading his gun and a person in a gas mask.
"We must be the shield that safeguards the civilized world from those who wish to do it harm."
As six says this, the screen shows a man lifting a very large shield, then flashes to a man holding a different shield.
"That's an odd shape for a shield." Jaune commented, as both his and Pyrrha's were much smaller.
It then goes back to the first person, who aims his loaded gun above the camera. The scene then cuts back to Six.
"No matter how or where our enemy strikes, no matter what defense they cower behind, team Rainbow must stand ready." Her voice gets more serious as she speaks.
As she speaks, the screen shows a man in a hood with a white mask.
Everybody was silent for a few seconds. Tai was the first to speak.
"That got intense real fast." Tai said, and everybody couldn't help but agree.
"This was only the beginning. As they said, they are recruiting from around the world. Each of these soldiers are special, they have their own specialties that makes them a deadly weapon. These are only showing the original members that had joined the team first, there are many more who joined afterwards." Older Ruby stated.
However, she then noticed how on edge everybody was. She sighed and waved her hand at them.
"Go take a break first. We'll reconvene in a few minutes." Everybody seemed to sink into their seats as the anxiety slowly left them. Ironwood, however, stood up. He walked up to Ozpin and motioned for him to follow him. Most ignored it, but Glynda looked on curiously.
When Ozpin reached Ironwood, Ironwood already had his whole speech prepared.
"This is exactly what is happening to us! They have an unknown threat! And what are they doing? They take initiative, and deploy the military to solve the problem." Ironwood whisper/shouted. Ozpin looked at him.
"There are some key differences. First off, this is a whole different world, without the environment or tools we have. We also don't have the manpower or resources they have. We also don't completely know if they are a threat." Ironwood seemed ready to interject that statement, but Ozpin kept going. "We also do not know if their method will work, merely that they are employing it. This conversation is over." Ozpin walked away from a disgruntled Ironwood, but older Ruby seemed to ignore it.
"I guess we're all ready? Let's watch the attackers first, or those who specialize in laying siege to areas." Older Ruby said.
The video fades in from black into a white tiled room. A bald man is standing near a wall. The camera perspective seems to be on a hammer the man has on his back. He grabs the sledgehammer from his back and holds it like a golf club.
'What is he going to do with that?' Were the thoughts of most of the audience.
He is now clearly shown wearing a gas mask, with a flag embedded on the shoulder of his suit. He then raises his hammer and smashes a large indent in the wall.
A lot of them were surprised by how angry he seemed, and how his demeanor seemed to shift dramatically.
He pulls it back and continues to smash the wall, until he finally pushes the hammer through and the screen fades to black. The screen then shows a full body shot of the man, who has the icon of a sledge hammer along with the word "Sledge" above it.
Everybody seemed slightly put off by how barbaric the person was. Except Nora.
"Oooh! Making holes in walls with my hammer! I should do that! Ren? Can we do that?" Nora asked.
Ren, being the calm man he was, did not panic. He looked at Nora, before using the tried and true method he always used.
"Look Nora! Pancakes!" He said, as a plate of pancakes suddenly appeared in his hand. With a new distraction to occupy her mind, Nora quickly forgot about making holes in interdimensional walls. Everybody thanked him in their head, before their attention was quickly turned back to Ruby.
"That man's specialty was pretty straight forward. He can make large holes through non-reinforced walls by only using a sledge hammer, allowing his team to spill into rooms from unexpected angles. He can also be a little creative by sledging the floor from the room above, but that's a little more complex. The name that appears is that operator's code-name." Ruby explained, having prepared an explanation for each video.
Before any of them had time to ask another question, the screen came to life again.
The scene shows a man standing in the center of a room filled with electronics. He seems to have a detonator for the bomb vest he is wearing. An old, accented, raspy voice speaks.
"GPS satellites? Unmanned drones? Fookin laser sights?"
"Cuss word!" Younger Ruby shouted. Everybody rolled their eyes.
The man thumbs the detonator button, but a glowing object rolled on the ground in front of him.
"The more crutches ya have,"
The object detonates and everything goes dark.
"An EMP?" Nora whimpered. She hated the fact that it disables electricity.
"The more it hurts when they're kicked out from under ya."
There is a stabbing sound, and light slowly comes back as it shows a man in a gas mask setting down a dead body.
Team RWBY and JNPR were shocked, but the older huntsman understood the necessity.
"If there is one thing I know for sure, it's that a six inch blade never loses reception."
The man in the gas mask sheaths the blade into a holster in his wrist before the screen cuts to black. It then shows a full body shot of the man holding a shotgun, along with the icon of a power button and the word "Thatcher".
Older Ruby began speaking when it went to full black.
"Thatcher is an old man who uses an EMP to disable electronic devices. Everybody jokes the reason he uses it is because he can't keep up with the modern era." Everybody thought older Ruby muttered something along the line of "Boomer" but nobody paid any attention to it.
The screen turned on again.
The screen showed a red haired woman kneeled down in an empty warehouse, along with a weapon in her hand.
"When I was little my safta taught me that silence was a woman's best garment."
"That's stupid." Yang vocalized her thoughts.
Older Ruby shook her head.
"In the past, and even in the more recent times, countries often considered women to be "Lesser" in some way." Ruby informed.
The woman loaded her weapon and the camera panned to her face. She had a cap that read "FBI" along with sunglasses. She aimed down the sights of her weapon and shot. There is a slow motion shot of the object spinning in mid air as it travels towards a cement wall.
"But, I have to admit, I never really took her advice to heart."
The object spins faster than before, and starts drilling into the wall. Cracks start growing around the object, but it becomes naught as it all ends up exploding.
Younger Ruby's jaw dropped.
The screen fades to black, before it shows a full body shot of the woman holding her explosive launcher. The icon of a missile hitting an explosion appears and the word "Ash" fades in above it.
"Can I-" Younger Ruby started saying, before she got cut off.
"NO." Her entire team said at once.
Younger Ruby pouted, but older Ruby started talking.
"That was Ash. You may notice how unlike the other two, she is not wearing a gas mask." Everybody nodded.
"Well, that's because they are from two different governments. We will be seeing a total of 20 operators across five organizations. Four from each organization, two in attack and two in defence. Mini math problem for you there. Anyways, Ash uses a grenade launcher that can destroy non-reinforced walls from a distance." Older Ruby elaborated.
Ozpin seemed to notice something.
"You mentioned "Non-reinforced" twice now. What does that mean?" Ozpin asked.
"Well, when fortifying a room, people sometimes reinforce soft walls that are easily broken. They take metal sheets and reinforce it, making it harder to break. However, reinforced walls aren't completely invulnerable as you are about to see." Older Ruby stated.
The screen gets lit up by a metal grinding sound. Sparks are flying, and they start making a square shape. In its wake is metal glowing from heat.
"When you mix fuel, metal oxide, and metal powder in just the right way, it burns at 2,000 degrees celsius." The voice was clearly male.
"Yangy wanty." Yang said, but Blake shot her a look that said "I'll make sure you don't get that through any means possible."
The sparks had almost created a man sized square.
"Hot enough to cut through nearly any barrier known to man."
"I wonder why I've never seen somebody use this before, if it's as useful as he says." Glynda commented.
When the sparks finally created a perfect square, it exploded a large hole. The had metal shards flew away in slow motion.
"Throw some C4 into the mix, and you've got one hell of a combination."
The slow motion stops, and a man peeks into the new hole with a gun. The screen then shows a man with goggles and bandages around his hands. He is holding a pistol with his arms crossed. The image of a hole in a wall appears along with the word "Thermite"
Qrow snorted. "Such a creative name. Only slightly better then sledge."
"Well they're supposed to be practical, relevant, and easy to remember, not flashy." Ironwood countered.
Ironwood and Qrow had a glaring contest before Glynda shut them down with her own glare. Older Ruby snickered in the background. It was like watching two kids get scolded.
"As I said before, reinforced walls aren't infallible. Thermite is one of the few people who has a breaching tool capable of getting through solid steel." Ruby explained. She commanded the screen to continue.
The screen started panning inside some complex mechanical parts.
"If you have a few spare hours, I'd love to share the details of how this device is a masterpiece of design." The voice that spoke was a slightly accented female.
The camera pans, showing pivoting and moving parts.
Younger Ruby was practically drooling. A design like this had to be very meticulous, every part had to work or the whole thing failed. If she had a notebook, she would be scribbling down notes and details at lightning speed using her semblance.
"Critical independent gearboxes enabling zero to twenty in under four seconds."
Younger Ruby was physically shaking with excitement.
"Ten kilometers of internal wiring."
Weiss was curious why she felt vibrations.
"Eleven hundred expertly machined hand assembled components
Blake's ears heard some fabric being moved.
"Flawless control out to three hundred meters."
The screen zoomed out to show a small drone, along with the woman tampering with it using a screwdriver. The woman had her face masked from a black balaclava.
Yang looked at Ruby
"But all my team needs to know is, does it do the job or doesn't it?"
"Ruby!" Yang shouted.
"And let me tell you right now,"
"Heel!" Yang asserted. Ruby stopped vibrating and looked up at Yang like a kicked puppy.
"It does the job."
The device shot electricity at the screen, and the screen turned black.
The screen faded from black to show a full body shot of the woman tampering with a screen on her forearm. An image popped up with a skull and bone cross, along with wifi signals along the top. The name "Twitch" popped up.
"Repeat after me. "I will not be making electrical drones to shock people."" Yang commanded.
Ruby pouted but still complied. "I will not be making electrical drones to shock people. You're no fun."
Yang rolled her eyes. "If your definition of fun is tasing people… actually that would explain a lot."
Ruby pouted more, but Yang's resolve stayed. She had given in too many times before, but she had finally built an immunity.
Older Ruby decided to elaborate. "Twitch has a remote control drone that has a taser attached, which can destroy most fragile or electric gadgets. She could also shock people, but after enough complaints, Six invested in some shock-proof clothes."
"And we will too if Ms. Rose decides to go on a reign of terror." Glynda said, further sinking Ruby's plans of making a drone in secret.
The screen came to life, panning across a metal surface that had indents in it. Shouting and bullets being shot can be heard in the background. It pans across different parts, showing long scratches and bullet indents. Nothing had gone through though.
"Jeez, what happened to that?" Qrow questioned out loud.
Many others also asked that. To sustain that much damage, it must have seen many battles.
"Using a shield myself, I know that even small weak points in shields could break it. The fact that this material hadn't been pierced yet speaks wonders for it." Pyrrha commented. She took time to admire how strong it had to be in order to stay in one piece. Of course, this probably wasn't a shield anyway. Most aren't just a solid square, this is probably just a safe wall or door.
There is shouting and explosions in the background as the camera continues panning across the shield. Screams and yelling can be heard. The camera finally pans up to show bullet proof glass attached to the metal.
"Wait, it really was a shield?!" Pyrrha exclaimed.
The screen pans to show a man holding the shield up from the side, admiring the front. The man himself was fairly large, with bulky armor. He had a helmet along with a balaclava behind it. The shield itself is large, with it extending out to the sides with metal and bullet proof glass. The man then picks up the shield and de-extends it, then draws his pistol and looks at the camera.
"That's smart. They made a hybrid with a full-body shield and a normal shield. Winter, remind me of these things when we get back." Ironwood said.
The screen cuts to black, then shows a full body shot of the man holding his shield with one arm. The icon of a large shield with blood splatters behind and on the shield appears, along with the name "Montagne".
Older Ruby decided to elaborate. "Montagne is a fairly straightforward operator. He has a big shield, so he takes the bullets and attention for other operators. He is actually a teacher too, and his name "Montagne" translated to English is actually "Mountain"."
Glynda, Port, and Oobleck were surprised by this. They were expecting all the people to be like those Atlesian soldiers, weapons without any true personal life. However, the screen interrupted their train of thought.
The screen showed a close up of an eye.
"Do you know what an artist and a sniper have in common?" The voice was clearly male, although heavily accented.
Ruby seemed excited about the prospect of a fellow sniper.
The shot then zooms out to show he was looking through a scope.
"Details."
The shot zooms to show his full face. He is wearing safety headphones, a mask, and a wool cap. He is wearing some camouflage paint on his face. It shows how he was out here for a while, as snow had started piling on top of him.
Tai whistled in appreciation. "This guy had to be sitting still in the snow for a while. I admire the dedication."
Ironwood agreed, though he did not voice it. Oftentimes snipers in Atlas might abandon post from the heavy snow due to frostbite.
"Like when a touch of color is out of place, when a shadow does not match with its surroundings, or when a shape is not where it is supposed to be. The only difference is the stakes. Mine are higher."
The screen cuts to black as a gunshot is heard, and shows a full body of the man. He is wearing a brown body suit and holding a short bullpup sniper rifle. An icon with a read background and a sniper scope appears. The name "Glaz" appears above it.
"Glaz's video doesn't explain much about his specialty, other than he's a sniper." Older Ruby said.
Younger Ruby looked at her curiously. "Really? There's more to him?"
Older Ruby nodded. "Glaz has a special scope. It's a thermal scope, meaning it highlights people in light yellow colors. This helps him notice things in a dark environment. It also lets him see through smoke, through some wonder of technology."
Ironwood looked impressed. In a cold place like Atlas, a thermal scope would be very useful. He might have to commission one be made for his snipers.
Weiss was having similar thoughts along a different line of thought. If she could get Ruby to make her something like that, she could freeze an area and see what heat signatures pop out against people who can hide themselves with their semblances.
There is peaceful music playing, as the screen comes to life to show bodies, broken glass, and stone laying around. The person then seems to fly up, as glass starts to float into the air.
"Is this clip playing… backwards?" Winter questioned, though nobody answered.
Glass started flying back into the air. Blood on the ground got pushed back into somebody's mouth, and said person stands back up.
"That's gross!" Weiss exclaimed, and the rest of team RBY couldn't help but agree.
Explosions seem to be happening in reverse. A person goes through glass that fixes behind him. Rocks go to fill up a drill that is slowly pulling out of a wall.
"Did all that come from the device on the wall?" Ozpin mused to himself.
The music gets more intense. On the other side, it shows a man in green holding an odd device and shield. The screen cuts to black.
"Jeez, that one was violent." Clover commented under his breath.
The screen shows a full body of the man in full green holding an assault rifle and shield. A red and black icon popped up that had the image of grenades, one of which had a grinning mouth. The name "Fuze" popped up.
"Fuze is an operator who has a device that can expel multiple deadly explosives from one side of a surface to the other. If the enemy has no hostages and they barricaded themselves into a room, he can take them out swiftly." Older Ruby said, not at all disturbed by what happened. "I wanted to show you guys these ones first just to give you an idea of how some of these universes may be. This one is on the tamer side, but it should give you an idea as to how violent some may get. The next universe we watch will be nicer, I promise you. However, we still need to get through 12 more operators and a clip of them in action."
Older Ruby didn't elaborate on what she meant by "A clip of them in action" but nobody had the chance to question it as the next video played.
There were multiple armed people walking in a dark room. Then a bright light messes up the camera and dubstep starts being played. The camera refocuses just in time to get a shot of a person with a shield shooting one of the armed men in the head.
"I keep forgetting they have no aura. Every bullet can mean death." Jaune said, shocked.
The shot rewinds and replays the shot of the man getting shot along with the intense music.
"Why is it being played like a joke? I know those are bad people, but for their death to be put into something like a dubstep video?" Ruby muttered, horrified.
The video shows the man with the shield shooting another person, before the camera pans past the man with the shield multiple times alongside the music. This shows the man with the shield pressing a button, a bright light emitting from the other side of his shield.
As violent as this man was, Yang wondered if she could take that same idea and use it with her fire. She could make a fire so bright it temporarily blinds the enemy.
This blinds the enemies, allowing for them to be easy pickings for the man. He then crouches down, aims around the area, before flashing the camera one more time. The screen then cuts to a full body shot of the man, showing his helmet and balaclava. He is holding his shield on the ground with both hands. A yellow icon with the image of a shield and a flash of light appears. The name "Blitz" is shown.
"I'm not sure which video is more violent, this guy's video or Fuze's video." Qrow phrased the sentence like a question, but didn't say it like one. He most likely didn't want an answer.
"Blitz is an operator with a shield, like Montagne and Fuze. Blitz does not have a full body shield like Montagne, but he has his own niche. Blitz has special glass and lights on the front of his shield that can temporarily blind enemies that are near him." Older Ruby explained. "And this is going to be the last attacker operator video. Then we'll take a short break before moving onto the defenders." Everybody seemed relieved at the prospect of a break.
The scene cuts to show a feminine figure in a helmet and face mask while holding an assault rifle. The person creeps slowly down the stairs before stepping on a hidden device.
"This seems bad." Ruby muttered, squeezing Yang's hand for support.
The figure kept her cool. She holstered her rifle before pulling out her pistol and opened a device on her forearm. The screen shows what the device is showing, which are highlighted wires that connect to c4.
"Even with aura, that would be a deadly trap." Ozpin said sadly.
The screen pans to show more c4 in the next room. The screen then turns back to the woman, who aims with her pistol.
"Wait, she's going to shoot to disable the explosives? If she misses, she'll probably detonate everything!" Jaune exclaimed.
Qrow shook his head. "In a situation like that, you could call for backup. However, that might put your allies in danger. This person obviously knows what they are doing, so they have to have trust in their own abilities."
The screen turns black as a gunshot is fired.
"Jeez…" Jaune muttered.
The screen shows a full body of the blonde woman. She wears a mask and has her scanner out. A yellow and black icon appears with the picture of glasses and electricity on it. The name "IQ" appears.
"IQ has an electronics detector that can detect electronics through walls, no matter how disguised it is. This helps since there are many traps or devices that can be hard to spot or use cloaking technology." Older Ruby said. "Anyways, you asked for a break. I'll leave you guys to mingle amongst each other." Older Ruby then disappeared in a shower of rose petals, much to the surprise of everybody there.
Ironwood was impressed. These soldiers made up for their lack of aura and dust by using innovative technology. He might get some manufactured back in Atlas. Ironwood then looked at Ozpin. This was the perfect time to convince Ozpin that this was the right choice.
Ozpin's thought process was a little more dismal. To think that even without Salem sending Grimm, the world would still end up fighting each other. A grim (Hah) thought indeed, but one that he must now face. If he ever beat Salem, would he be content to leave the future to toil in it's own war? Unbeknownst to him Ironwood was walking right up to him.
The specialists were having their own thoughts. They could all relate to the operators shown on the screen. They were the best of the best, saved for extreme circumstances. They had to kill before, but they didn't like it. They understood the necessity of what those on screen had to do, better than most others in the room.
Team RWBY and JNPR were discussing amongst themselves. However, what came next was a surprise.
"Everybody quiet down!" Blake hissed.
Team RWY and JNPR were surprised by this. Blake was normally such a reserved person. With the exception being when the White Fang were mentioned, but that's irrelevant.
"Blake? Wh-" Yang tried to speak, but Blakes hand shot up to her mouth. Blake then pointed her finger towards Ironwood and Ozpin. They were speaking in a faraway corner. Nobody with normal hearing could hear them, but Blake had feline ears. She could pick up what was being said.
"-ow effective they are? We could have something like that, and any terrorist attacks could be dealt with quickly." Ironwood argued.
"They are effective, yes. But they know a threat exists. And they aren't sending them out into crowds to ID and apprehend everybody. That's the difference. You are implementing your troops into the public. You also aren't completely sure if a threat even exists! They also don't have to worry about unhappiness, as Grimm don't exist in this universe!" Ozpin was obviously getting annoyed at his friend's stubbornness.
Ironwood looked like he was going to respond but older Ruby appeared on stage.
"We'll talk about this later." Ironwood hissed.
Blake's eyes narrowed. Something big was happening, and nobody knew about it but the big wigs.
"Well?" Weiss asked impatiently. "What did they say?"
Blake considered her options. She could tell them what she heard, which wasn't much, or she could keep it a secret. Sure, keeping big conspiracies is probably not the best idea, but something this big probably had a reason to be kept quite. Also, who knew what somebody like Yang would spill if she was drunk. Ozpin had a point, something this big might cause a Grimm incursion if something got out.
"I'll tell you later." Blake said, deciding to put the decision off for later. Weiss didn't seem satisfied, but couldn't question it as older Ruby started speaking again.
"We're at the halfway mark! This time we'll be watching the defender specialists. These guys specialize in controlling, denying, or reinforcing areas." Older Ruby then snapped her finger (to be dramatic) and the screen turned on.
There was an orange gas lingering around the area. There was a shot of boots walking down a hall. The person steps over a dead body.
Jaune shuddered. "Anybody getting similar vibes from when we saw the other poison at the beginning?" Jaune asked.
"Now that you mention it, that poison was orange as well." Younger Ruby muttered under her breath.
The camera zooms out so the whole person can be seen. It's a man in a gas mask holding a shotgun. There are dead bodies laying around on the ground.
Nora covered her mouth. The normally happy look on her face was replaced with one of horror.
"I know what yar wondering." The voice was an accented male. "What's in the canista?"
"I could tell ya," A piece of broken glass on the floor zoomed in the image of the person's face. "But then I'd have to kill ya. I'm only muckin about, relax."
Younger Ruby shuddered. "How can he joke about these kinds of things?"
Older Ruby shook her head. "It's kind of like a morbid coping method. If a soldier goes into these very intense situations every day, they would break if they don't cope with it. For him, it might be joking about morbid situations." Older Ruby offered.
Younger Ruby looked shocked. 'I never thought about that.' She thought.
The camera panned to the front of the man. He slowly approaches it.
"As for what's in the canista, it's best ya don't ask."
The screen cut to a full body shot of the man with a shotgun over his shoulder. An icon popped up with a gas mask and smoke behind it. The name "Smoke" appeared.
Older Ruby started explaining. "Smoke is pretty basic, he uses canisters of toxic smoke to deny areas."
Nobody else commented on the man's morbid humor. Nobody wanted to.
The movie screen showed a bunch of security cameras. It zooms out to show it was all from the reflection of a person's gas mask. Said gas mask had tape in an X formation over the mouthpiece.
"That's an… interesting choice of mask." Glynda commented.
Background noises can be heard.
"What the hell are they doing out of position?"
"I don't think anybody deserves to go out like-"
Some of the screens went dark
"Did they lose connection?" Ruby asked.
"Crap, that's gotta be him!"
"If anybody comes through that doo-"
More screens went dark.
"I don't think that was a coincidence." Ironwood muttered.
"Go! Go! Get over there!"
"I don't think tha-"
A few screens went down.
"Okay, he's definitely doing something to the comms." Yang declared, although everybody already knew that.
"Wait-"
A lot of screens went down.
"What do you mean the guy's g-"
More screens went down, only a few more left.
Blake narrowed her eyes. This was dangerous technology. If the White Fang managed to get their hands on this… well, she didn't want to think about that.
"There goes another one!"
"Wait, you see that?"
"Everyone get ready!"
"The camera feed went down!"
All the screens went dark and all the voices were silenced.
The man can be heard taking a deep breath.
It shows the full body of the man, who is holding a smg. A distorted symbol of the man's mask appears, along with the name "Mute."
"That's a name that certainly fits him." Qrow said humorlessly."
Older Ruby shook her head. "While he can jam comms, Mute's electronic jammer can jam anything electronic within its radius. Thermite, Twitch, Glaz if he gets close enough, Fuze, Blitz, and IQ all get their gadgets jammed by Mute."
Ironwood was having concerned thoughts. 'I need to make sure my tech can't be affected by jammers like those.
"Onto the next video!" Older Ruby said cheerfully.
The clip starts in a dark room with streams of light coming through bullet holes in the walls. More holes are made as bullets are fired behind the wall. Despite being shot at from behind the walls, a dark skinned man was calmly reloading his shotgun.
Glynda nodded along. "Remember students, no matter how stressful a situation you must always keep a cool head. Keeping emotions in check is vital to assessing the situation.
Many more bullets are being shot as the man continues to load his shotgun. He finishes loading his shotgun, and the shot pans out. It shows that despite the walls being shot out around him, the barricade on the door didn't have a single scratch.
"That's one sturdy door." Tai commented.
The sound of guns clicking as it ran out of ammo rang behind the wall.
"Amateurs." The man said before pumping his shotgun. The screen turned black.
"Another lesson. Don't waste ammo on something that seems invulnerable to it. Save it for when you find a weak point." Glynda lectured. Even while kidnapped to an interdimensional void, she still lectures her students.
The camera shows a full body shot of the man, who is wearing a sleeveless vest and black tinted goggles. An image of a castle wall with scales on it appears, along with the name "Castle."
"Castle prefers his light-weight bullet proof barricades, that nothing short of an explosion or .50 caliber round will pierce." Ruby commented. "Simple but efficient."
'If I could make something like that, it would be much harder to destroy AKs.' Ironwood thought.
The screen showed an x-ray like image of a beating heart
Ruby was a bit squeamish from this.
"In a life-threatening situation the average person's heartbeat can be upwards of 175 beats per minute." The deep voice was a male.
"That's much higher than I thought." Nora commented. Blake nodded, she already knew. In her time with the White Fang, sometimes the weaker willed ones would go into cardiac arrest under extremely stressful situations.
"A well-trained tango is able to stay cool, keep calm. Their heart rates can be 70 to 100 beats per minute."
A bullet went through the heart, and internal bleeding can be seen.
When the bullet was shot, Ruby whimpered and squeezed Yang's hand for comfort.
The shot zooms out to show a somewhat bald man with sunglasses holding a device.
"But by the time I'm done, that number goes down to zero."
The screen cuts to show a full body shot of the man holding a smg. An icon of an eye with a radar in it appeared, along with the name "Pulse".
"Is it just me, or are the defender's code names much more fitting than those of the attackers." Qrow asked.
Older Ruby just shrugged. Not all of them were, just the ones they had seen so far.
"Pulse has a cardiac scanner that can detect heart beats through any surface, allowing him to track any person within his range." She informed. "With a carefully placed explosive, he can kill people from a completely different floor."
All of them were unnerved by that. Killed without any time to react because of the very thing keeping them alive. It's not like they could stop their heart from beating.
"Anyways, next operator."
There is a close up of a scissor on a metal desk, as mysterious music plays in the background. A gloved hand picks it up and examines it.
"A doctor?" Glynda mused.
"I've learned from experience zat ze place to save lives is in ze field, not an office." It was a deep, accented voice.
"Yup. How'd you know Prof?" Yang asked.
"It's fairly obvious. That was a surgical glove, and that scissor was meant for medical purposes." Glynda responded.
As he says this, he picks up a syringe and flicks it a few times. The person then rubs a pair of defibrillators together. The person then puts on a medic badge, right over a badge that reads "GIGN". The person then picks up a pistol.
"And sometimes,"
The man cocks and holsters the pistol. The whole person can be seen, as it is a heavily armored man with a helmet. His face is hidden in the shadows.
"Ze only way to save a life, is to take one."
"That can be true in our line of work as well." Glynda said sadly. "In a hostage situation, a suicide bomber, or even just a serial killer who will die before he gets arrested."
The man's helmet is now up, and he is wearing a balaclava that has no mouth piece. The icon is the same as the badge he had just put on, and the word "Doc" had appeared above it.
"Doc has a syringe gun that can launch a syringe with some kind of miracle serum. It can quickly boost the body's natural healing to the point where somebody who can't even stand could get up and run around." Ruby said. "But much like Smoke, he doesn't talk about what exactly goes into it nor how to make it so it does not get into the wrong hands."
"Hey Prof-fffessor Goodwitch?" Yang added when Glynda sent her a glare. "Don't we have a doctor?"
"We do, but only for extensive care. All teachers know basic first aid." Glynda replied.
Yang seemed like she was going to ask more, but the screen came to life.
The shot pans down from the ceiling, showing the back of an armored man.
"I trust that the ceramic trauma plate I'm wearing will stop a 357 magnum round traveling at 490 meters per second."
"Jeez," Ruby said "Not even fire dust can get a bullet to move that fast. Actually, how do bullets work without fire dust?"
Older Ruby smiled. "This world uses gunpowder, a substance that explodes when exposed to heat. That explosion propels the bullet forward, allowing it to move faster than if it was fired by fire dust."
The shot pans to show the armored man standing in on the end of a firing line. A man standing across from him raises a revolver.
"I trust myself not to move, not to flinch."
"Wait, is he testing his armor on himself? Without aura?" Yang exclaimed. "What if they miss? What if it's faulty?"
"Then that means the people relying on it in the field will die instead." Older Ruby replied.
"But there has to be a better way. Test dummies or something." Yang countered.
"They already tested it. This would be the final product, if it passes this final test." Older Ruby responded.
The armored man pulls down the front of his helmet, and the man across from him cocks the revolver. The man is wearing a balaclava.
"I trust my teammates,"
The bullet is shot, and one of the armored man's feet only moves back a little. The clay bird on his chest shatters and falls to the ground.
"And they trust me."
"That man's got balls." Qrow slurred.
The shot shows the man's full body. He is holding a smg in one hand and his walkie talkie in the other. The icon that appears is shaped like a suitcase with vests in it. The vests have bullet markings on them, and the word "Rook" appears above it.
Although it was fairly straightforward, older Ruby still elaborated on it. "When Rook is deployed, he carries a case of these armors that can be distributed around his team. They significantly reduce damage, and have saved many lives in the past. Only four more videos to go, then the bonus video."
"I still feel like that was reckless, and that's coming from me." Yang muttered.
Piano music is heard. There is a man leaned against a fogged glass door. Men break down the door behind him.
"These soldiers think their training will keep them alive." The voice is heavily accented
Ironwood narrows his eyes. That's what training is supposed to do.
Shouting is heard behind the glass.
"They break down doors and come through windows, weapons drawn. They check the corners, watch each other's backs and give the all-clear."
Ironwood was watching carefully. Obviously this man had a plan. And that was what concerned him. The men in the background were clearly doing standard protocol not so different from their own.
A man can be seen waving at his team to go for the door.
Piano music gets more intense. A man behind the door reaches for it.
"But it's too late."
Blood explodes and all the figures fall down. An orchestra goes wild in the background
Ren covered Nora's eyes, while Yang covered Ruby's eyes. However, everybody's stomach seemed to sink.
"The first rule of survival; a real hunter always watches where he steps."
Both Ironwood and Glynda had the same thoughts. 'We need to train them how to notice traps.'
The screen shows a full body shot of the man. He is holding a smg, and wearing a green camouflage suit that covers his head and face. An icon with tnt and a fishing hook is seen, along with multiple tripwires behind it. "Kapkan" appears behind it.
"That one was especially violent." Tai commented. Everybody couldn't help but agree.
Older Ruby began to elaborate. "Kapkan drills explosives onto doors or windows with a laser motion detector. When tripped, it lets off a lethal explosion that will definitely slow down if not kill anybody walking through it." Although everybody seemed horrified by the blood, the trap itself seemed to interest everybody.
"Alright, next video. Only three more."
The camera pans down to show a man in a large metal helmet reloading a large gun. Music starts playing in the background.
"Ooh, I wonder what caliber that is!" Ruby squealed.
The camera pans down more to show the LMG is mounted. The music gets more intense as the man starts shooting. The man pivots his gun, and the high caliber rounds pierce right through the stone.
"I feel like he would get along fine with Coco." Jaune said, only half joking.
After shooting for a while, the man rests his gun and admires his work.
The scene cuts to him resting on his LMG, which now sports a folded bullet proof shield on it. An icon with a LMG and bullet cartridges appears, along with the word "Tachanka".
"He seems like the "Shoot first ask questions never" kind of guy." Winter said with disgust. "Just like a certain drunk man I know."
"That's the sound of somebody who needs to get laid." Qrow countered.
Before their argument could grow, Older Ruby interjected.
"Uncle Qrow, none of us needs to hear your flirting." Winter and Qrow's face scrunched up in disgust
"You can't think that I woul-" Qrow was cut off when the next clip started.
It starts off with a shot of the person walking in sneakers, then cuts to behind said person. A large explosive launcher is being deployed from the wall.
"Isn't that an explosive launcher? Why is he down range of that thing?" Nora asked.
The man is not fazed. He deploys a device on the floor, and it comes to life.
"They said it could not be done." The voice was very accented. It shows a scene of the man's face, who is wearing a mask and goggles that are attached to his helmet.
"Is it just me, or do they look like a pilot?" Jaune asked.
Older Ruby nodded at the observation. "Yeah, he's an engineer and pilot alongside a soldier. A multi talented man."
The explosive launcher is in place, and a large red light turns on signalling it's activation.
"They said it was designed for tanks," The man stands up and starts to walk away.
"They said I could not make it smaller and more accurate."
The explosive launcher loads a round into it's chamber. The device aims at it. The launcher shoots a shell, and it explodes mid-air. The shell tumbles behind him.
Ironwood looked surprised. Something that small and easy to carry could be vital in countering explosive projectiles. He might have some money commissioned into researching it.
"They were wrong."
The scene cuts to the man holding the device. An icon with the image of a web on it appears, along with the name "Jager."
"I like this guy. Everyone's telling him he can't do something then he goes and does it right before their eyes." Qrow complimented.
"Don't compliment him. That's an insult to his personality, intelligence, and character." Winter hissed.
Qrow rolled his eyes, but didn't comment further much to Winter's surprise.
"Alright, last one!" Older Ruby exclaimed.
This shows a man in a black and yellow police uniform messing with a car battery. He is sitting in a chair and creating sparks. The camera slowly zooms in on his face.
"I used to be undercover."
"Oooh, undercover spy movie!" Ruby exclaimed.
I did time, I had to deal drugs, I even had to kill.
Ozpin shook his head as Ruby deflated when she realized what he had to do. "Most of the time, when somebody goes that deep in, they become corrupt and switch sides. I'm surprised he still has his moral compass and his sanity. That's a rare combination." Ozpin said sadly.
And I was so good at it that…"
The man looks at the camera.
"It got me a promotion"
Glynda raised an eyebrow. "Intact moral compass you say?"
Ozpin shrugged. "Mostly intact. The important parts are probably still there."
The camera cuts to a full body shot of the man holding a pistol in both hands. An icon with a lightning bolt on it appeared, and the name "Bandit" appeared.
Jaune sunk into his chair. "So are we done now?" He asked, all his energy sapped from watching violent imagery.
Older Ruby just shook her head. "We got one more, the bonus video remember?"
Everybody groaned, but everybody wanted to just get this over with.
The words "Article 5" appeared on the side of the screen.
"We have an active situation." A familiar female voice said.
"It's Six!" Nora exclaimed what everybody was thinking.
"The nature of this threat will require a full strike team. You're being deployed."
"With how violent these videos were, I forgot that these were supposed to be the really elite cops. Not villains." Ruby said.
"One of our most notable institutions of learning is under siege."
The screen then cuts to a large school, with students wandering the courtyard.
"This is more than an attack on our soil. This is an attack on our future."
Glynda, Ozpin, and Ironwood glance at the Beacon students.
A student on her phone walks down the steps, but looks up and gasps. There are terrorists in hazmat suits deploying poison gas and bombs. There are screams as people start running away.
"Those look the exact same as Smoke's gas!" Jaune exclaimed.
Older Ruby nodded grimly. "This is the reason he tried to keep it a secret. People would use it for purposes like this. They probably got information by spying on him, and then mass produced it."
"We know that all first responders have gone silent."
The camera changes and shows collapsed bodies and the terrorist shooting at retreating students.
"It's a massacre…" Tai said sadly.
"We confirmed numerous casualties, due to the release of an unidentified biochemical weapon."
The screen cut to show bodies laying around from either the gas or gunfire.
Ruby covers her mouth from shock.
"Your newly assembled Rainbow team faces a trial by fire against an unknown number of enemy combatants."
The clip shows heavily armed terrorists opening fire. It shows collapsed police officers wearing gas masks.
Ironwood shook his head sadly. "They fell valiantly."
"You're to be inserted directly into the hot zone."
It shows the first responders covering the retreating civilians by shooting at the terrorists with pistols.
Blake's eyes narrowed. "They were under armed. No way those pistols could pierce those vests, and the terrorists have LMGs. They never stood a chance."
Ruby hung her head sadly. "They stalled for time as the civilians ran. That has got to count for something."
Surprisingly, it was Ironwood who responded. "Seconds can save lives. Those officers stood there while being fired upon and under armed, giving precious seconds if not minutes to those fleeing."
"We will have decontamination crews on standby."
It shows smoke being thrown every which way as students run away, some collapsing.
Glynda's normally stoic face seemed to be cracking. "All this loss of life… for what?"
It cuts to weapons and items being strewn about the campus grounds.
"Your orders are to eliminate the threat, and rescue any survivors you may find."
Clover sighed sadly. "This is why kill orders are a thing. No matter how much I hate them, in situations like this there are no negotiation and non-lethal takedowns. Every second wasted is another person potentially dying."
It seemed now team RWBY and JNPR understood why violence had to be the answer sometimes, even if they didn't like it.
The shot cuts to show the smoke near a body being blown away by the helicopter. Ropes drop from the helicopter, and five figures rappel down.
"This is why Rainbow was formed. This is what you have all trained for. Your time is now."
"We have already seen how each operator is a battle hardened warrior, and I didn't understand why they had to go to such lengths before. This is my answer." Ren commented quietly
The team moves out in a group, guns at the ready. A terrorist briefly enters line of sight, before disappearing again.
Older Ruby smiled sadly. "This is a violence that appears in almost every universe, even yours. You just have yet to see it. The actual battle is a different scene… " Older Ruby noticed the grim looks on everybody's faces. "But I think you have seen enough violence for now. Let me just show the prologue then we can move onto a… happier universe." Everyone was grateful to the reprieve granted to them.
The scene shows the school in the background, the poison mostly gone. It pans down to show ambulances and other emergency staff taking care of the area. One of the operators is walking towards the exit.
"There is no other team in the world that could have accomplished what you did here today."
"I'll say! To take on that many heavily armed opponents in a world without aura, I would have considered that impossible before now!" Qrow exclaimed.
"But this victory comes with a cost."
The camera cuts to the front of the operator. Multiple hazmat tents and police cars are set up, with people running everywhere to get emergency treatment. One of the officers from before was laying on a stretcher in pain.
"Wasn't that the cop from before? He survived!" Ruby exclaimed happily. Yang smiled at her sister, glad that her sad mood was gone.
"Our nation has been hit where we are most vulnerable."
It shows one of the students unconscious, being carried on a stretcher with a bloody mark on her face.
"But, we must remain vigilant in the face of this emerging threat."
It shows a student with a mask on in pain.
"This isn't the end of the story." Glynda said sadly. "Psychological terror like PTSD can last many years past this event, and who knows what the after effects of the poison is. It may cause serious complications down the line."
"As the ultimate goal of our enemy is still unknown."
Another cop is having chest pains after breathing in some of the gas while unconcious.
"I thought this was a victory. It's on such a sad note." Ruby whimpered. Pyrrha shook her head. "This could be seen as a victory. This can be seen as a loss. I don't think they intended to stay there forever. If their goal was to cause chaos, terror, and death, then they won. Victory doesn't always mean winning the fight."
The operator approaches the hazmat tents guarded by cops. They put their gun on the rack and enter the tent.
Melancholy music started playing
"Reactivating team Rainbow was the right choice."
Water hits the operator in slow motion while getting decontaminated
"The only choice… in these uncertain times."
'Uncertain times… ones we ourselves are in now. I'm sure now that Ozpin sees what happens when you don't meet the threat halfway. He knows of the consequences now.' Ironwood thought.
The operator walks out with purpose and determination
"Our work is just beginning."
The operator grabs a gun and cocks it.
"We will track down the people responsible for this attack."
The operator looks at their teammates, and they walk out together.
"They all gathered their resolve. Impressive, given the depressive environment and situation." Winter commended.
"We will show them that we are not afraid."
They walk out past the people reuniting with their family
"They did some good today." Tai noted.
"And we will stand ready to repel any threat they throw our way, now that Rainbow is back."
The team walks out the gate, and the clip fades to black.
"Well, that's it. Hey, if I could pull some string with Tom, I might be able to have one of the operators come in and join us. No guarantees though." Older Ruby said.
The others looked at her weird.
"Tom? Who's that?" Ruby asked.
"Oh, the person who claimed that branch of the universe." Older Ruby informed. "But he might be busy, so we'll see. Anyways, I said I would move onto a happier branch of the multiverse, right?" Everyone nodded eagerly. "Well, I'll give you guys a break while I look for it. Just mingle amongst yourselves while I browse the Multiverse."
A/N: OH MY GOD IT'S FINALLY OVER. 10k words! IN THIS ONE CHAPTER! THAT'S LONGER THAN LITERALLY ANY FANFICTION I'VE EVER WROTE. Anyways, there are some things that I want to say here.
First off, just to clarify, I MIGHT do different versions of RWBY. I would prefer if somebody sent me their own fanfic so I could have them do a one-chapter reaction. That being said, I won't guarantee anything.
Second off, DO NOT EXPECT UPDATES THIS FAST. I only wrote this one quickly because I've had this idea for AGES. I had to get it off my chest.
Third off, post a review of what I should put up next, I honestly don't know. Something more lighthearted though
Fourth off, put in the review whether or not I should put in an r6 operator. If so, who? You could explain your choice, but you don't have to. It would just make me more inclined to listen to you.
Fifth and finally, don't expect all chapters to be this long. R6 just has a lot of operator videos.
