Reformed Saiyans
Chapter Two: A Day Later
Last Time on Reformed Saiyans, a strange visitor from outer space, with a strange armor and a long mane, by the name of Raditz had come looking for Goku, claiming that Goku was a Saiyan, by the name of Kakarot. After this was revealed to be true, and Raditz's comrades turned their back on him
Raditz asked for help from his brother, albeit begrudgingly, luckily for him, Goku is one for mercy and compassion, and was glad to help. Though Raditz doubts their victory, another year at life sounded better than immediate death or running away for the rest of his life.
Now eating breakfast next to his brother, the others were only more convinced that Raditz was his brother, due to his immense appetite. During breakfast, Gohan continuously stared at his Uncle, which of course, he thought his Uncle hadn't noticed, after all the boy was super curious.
"Whaddya looking at?" Raditz said, placing his fork on his plate.
"Well y-you're my Dad's b-brother right?" Gohan stuttered.
"Yeah? And?" Raditz tapped his finger on the table, clearly looking irritated.
Gohan twiddled his fingers. "Does that make you my Uncle?" He asked, biting his lips.
"What's it to you?" Raditz's tone became low, making the shy boy shrink.
Gohan gulped. "It's just...uh.." The words wouldn't form.
"Spit it out runt!" Raditz growled. "I don't have all day."
"Hey Come on Raditz, be nice." Goku said.
"Yea stop being a jerk." Bulma remarked, passing by the table.
Raditz rolled his eyes in response.
"I was just wondering how come I..I've never seen you before?" Gohan said.
"That's because unlike your weakling father, I wasn't sent to a wasteland backwater planet like this when I was a baby." Raditz answered bluntly. "I actually had some value in comparison to him." Raditz averted his gaze. "At least enough to be considered useful anyways…"
He moved his gaze back to Gohan, who strangely looked angry, this intrigued Raditz.
"My father's not weak…" Gohan muttered.
Raditz raised an eyebrow, and a smirk began to form. "You're gonna have to speak up, runt." He said. "I couldn't hear you."
"I said…" Gohan paused. Contemplating for a second, if he had thrown a fit, just what would his mother think. Gohan then calmed himself. "Nevermind…"
"That's it? That's pathetic!" Raditz yelled. "Then again what would I expect from a halfbreed whose parents have no backbone."
Gohan's anger began to rise, but still he ignored Raditz continuing to eat his food. Raditz was surprised, the child was only four and either he knew how to actually not act on his anger….or the more likely one, Gohan was just too scared to.
Course this would be easier for Raditz to taunt Gohan if he wasn't near a bunch of Earthlings who had to butt in. Raditz decided to shrug it off for now, that and the completely random glares that he had gotten from everyone. He'd wondered what he had done to deserve that.
Gohan continued to look away, looking at his food, eventually he looked back up, noticing Raditz was gone. Gohan darted his head around wondering where his Uncle could've gone.
"Boo.." A quiet and deep voice whispered in Gohan's ear.
Shivers went down Gohan's spine, as he panicked, and jumped out of his seat, running behind the couch and screamed. Before Gohan had realized it, Raditz was laughing, fallen to the floor. Of course this gave Raditz a bunch of glares and remarks, but he didn't care, he couldn't even take Gohan seriously after that.
"You big meanie!" Gohan put his tongue out at Raditz.
Raditz rolled his eyes and chuckled. "Only if Nappa were here." He mumbled, still laughing.
"Y'know…" Raditz said, finishing his food. "It's too bad we're all dead after this." Raditz put his hand to his mouth as he burped, muffling the noise. "Because damn you Earthlings may be weak, but this food is really good!"
"Dead? What do you mean dead?! I thought you had a plan!" Krillin said.
Raditz busted up in laughter. "Plan! I was just saying that so you guys wouldn't kill me! We're all dead in a year!"
Tien glared at Raditz who quickly averted his gaze and whistled suspiciously in response.
"That's not true, Raditz." Goku replied. "We can always train, get stronger!"
Raditz scoffed. "Nonsense. It would take centuries to even come close to the kind of power they have!" He chuckled. Then his face turned serious, doubtful. "You'd be a fool for believing such naive things."
"Okay, they're strong? So what." Tien said. "When has that ever stopped us? Where we come from, Raditz, giving up isn't an option."
"Tien's right." Goku added. "We've always fought no matter the opponent, the only difference now is we have time to prepare. We're not going to waste that opportunity."
Raditz sighed, standing up from his seat. "Whatever. I won't stop you. Don't expect me to go along with it." He turned around and walked to the door, beginning to exit before being stopped.
"Where are you going?" Goku asked.
Raditz turned to face Goku. "Does it matter? I'm going to enjoy myself, if your planet has any food like this, I think I'll go ahead and try everything it has to offer."
Tien came over, with an aggressive look. "And you think we're just gonna sit here and let you?"
Raditz nodded. "Of course! I mean why would you stop me?"
"Because I don't trust you." Tien said. "You may have proven that you're Goku's brother, but after what you did earlier, I don't buy for two seconds that you aren't gonna cause a ruckus. Not to mention, how are you going to enjoy anything without any money?"
"How?" Raditz took a deep breath, and then chuckled maliciously. "I'm a Space Pirate. What do you think I'm going to do?"
"You can't steal Raditz. That's wrong!" Goku said.
"Ha! You say that as If I haven't been doing it my whole life!" Raditz pointed out. "Why bother anyways? Everyone is going to die in a year."
"Regardless of whether or not anyone is going to die, it is still wrong." Goku replied.
"And besides, as long as you're here with us. You obey OUR rules." Tien ordered.
Raditz closed his eyes and grumbled for a second. "Fine. We'll play it your way." Raditz sighed. "Before that...I will warn you. Our planet, our home plant, is ten times the gravity of this planet."
The group looked with shock in their eyes. "T-Ten Times?" Krillin stuttered. "How is that even physically possible?!"
"That's insane! Ten times?!" Tien gaped.
"Listen, you can either believe me or not. I don't really care." Raditz shrugged, turning back around, pushing the door open. "But on our planet, ten times gravity is a piece of cake. So unless any of you fools have a device that can simulate gravity, you're screwed."
"That wouldn't be hard." Bulma spoke up. The attention turned towards her. "I can create a device that can simulate gravity, I'd have to make a room or something of the sort, but I can do it. I'd just need time."
Raditz looked intrigued, raising an eyebrow. "Is that so?" He said. Bulma nodded in response. "Interesting. Then in that case, you get a maximum of three months. Anymore, It'd be pointless."
"Woah! Hold it there buster!" Bulma said, her tone raising. "You can't just make demands on me like that out of nowhere! Plus besides, I don't know how long it could take!"
Raditz shrugged again. "Suit yourself, I guess you want to die."
Bulma gritted her teeth, and sighed. "Fine. Three months. I'll have it ready in three months."
Raditz smirked. "Glad you see it my way." Raditz turned to Goku. "You have a deal. We'll train, but we're doing it my way." Raditz glanced over to Gohan real quick and back. "As for the runt...maybe he'll have some value."
"Runt?" Goku said, tilting his head. It took him a second, but Goku quickly realized who he meant. "Oh no..nonononono!" Goku looked scared, waving both of his hands. "Chichi will kill me! Gohan can't train! She had her foot down on it!"
"Who is this...Chichi?" Raditz asked. "And you named your son after your adoptive grandfather? Ridiculous…"
"My wife. Gohan's mother." Goku answered. "And what's wrong with naming my son after my grandfather?"
Raditz rolled his eyes. "Nothing. Don't worry about it." He replied. Then he turned his face to Bulma. "Though, I thought she was his mother." Raditz pointed at Bulma. "But it makes more sense now, cause they bear no resemblance."
Bulma clenched her fists and growled. "Excuse me?!" She yelled. Raditz gave a baffled look. "How dare you! I have a boyfriend you know! Assuming that I'm already married!"
"Wait what?" Krillin said. "I thought you and Yamcha cut things off. Literally, yesterday when you got here, you were ranting about how he was chasing other girls!"
"No, that's not what I meant!" Bulma replied.
"Then what did you mean?" Goku asked.
"I...It…Ugh! Just shut up!" Bulma snarled, stomping away from the conversation.
Raditz glanced back and forth from the sides. "Annnyyywaaaaayyysss….." Raditz said. "We'll simply sneak out, your wife will never know Kakarot!"
"I dunno...that's kinda deceptive." Goku replied.
"It IS deceptive!" Bulma put in. She turned to Goku "And Chichi isn't clueless like you two buffoons! She'll find out."
"Yeah, you're right Bulma." Goku replied. He faced Raditz and continued. "If we're gonna train my son, Chichi has to know."
Raditz grumbled. "Fine. But if she says no, I'm sneaking out anyways." He said. Goku opened his mouth but Raditz cut him off. "AND if you try to stop me! Don't, because there will be nothing you can do! I mean...if the boy has any potential that is. If he doesn't, I wouldn't even bother."
Goku sighed. "Okay...but I'm coming with. I'm not leaving him alone."
Raditz shrugged and rolled his eyes. "Whatever…" He said.
Later that week outside the Son residence…
"I told you she'd find out, Raditz…" Goku said.
"Yeah but you also didn't tell me, that...that wife of yours..was a freaking BANSHEE!" Raditz yelled. Goku snickered in response. "What're you laughing for?!"
"Hah! You're scared of her!" Goku laughed.
Raditz gritted his teeth and growled. "Hypocrite! Even if this were true! Which it's not! You were the one afraid to train the runt because of her!" He pointed out. "And besides! I'm not the man of your household! You are. You should be making the demands."
Goku shook his head. "Nuh uh! No way! Forget it!"
"Tch! You're lucky we aren't on Planet Vegeta!" Raditz said. "Women on Planet Vegeta aren't allowed to speak that way! If they get caught back talking, they'd be killed!"
Meanwhile...in the afterlife….
"I don't know why….but I feel like kicking some guy named Raditz's butt…" A random female Saiyan muttered to herself. She wasn't the only one, every single Saiyan female in hell either had the same feeling or sneezed.
Back outside of the Son residence…
"Why do I get the feeling that every Saiyan female wants to come after me?" Raditz muttered. "And not in a good way."
Goku shrugged. "I dunno…"
Raditz shook himself to snap out of it. "Nevermind that. Let's get to training the runt!"
"I thought we decided not to do that." Goku replied. "After what happened when Chichi caught us…."
"Yeah, her reaction only proves we didn't try hard enough!" Raditz said. He turned to Gohan. "Hey Runt!"
Gohan faced his Uncle. "Yes?"
"Get over here." Raditz pointed to the ground. Gohan obeyed and quickly stood in front of his Uncle.
"What're you doing Raditz?" Goku asked, tilting his head.
"Well...I had an idea...and I'm going to show you." Raditz quickly picked Gohan up by his collar and threw him towards a large rock formation, before Goku could even react.
Goku panicked. "What the hell Raditz!" Goku yelled. Raditz kept a smirk on his face, pointing to Gohan. Goku looked, began running towards the boy but stopped. Suddenly, as Gohan's screaming stopped, his power sparked, and the large rock formation split evenly.
After the formation had split evenly, and Gohan was now on the other side of it, it then cracked from instability, before breaking into a million pieces. Raditz looked back to Goku with a smug face, who looked completely stunned.
"How…did…" Goku tried to spit it out. "He...just…" Then a proud smile formed across his face. "Gohan did that!?"
Raditz nodded. "I told you Brother! You just gotta know how to work it." Raditz walked over to Gohan, who was confused, looking at the rock formation. He didn't get hurt, and somehow it was destroyed, the boy couldn't understand. "Great Job Runt."
Gohan looked confused at his Uncle. "Wha...What do you mean?" Gohan pointed to the Rock. "I did that?" He asked.
"Yes. And if you follow our lead, and quit your whining, perhaps you could do even more!" Raditz answered.
Gohan bit his lips and gulped. "Okay.." He said.
Earlier that week…..
"That is it! I give up!" Raditz yelled, walking away from Gohan, who wouldn't stop crying.
"Raditz, you can't expect him to suddenly know martial arts!" Goku said. "He's only f-."
"Four? Yeah, and guess what? He's HALF Saiyan! At the very least he shouldn't be such a pathetic sob." Raditz replied. He scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Then again, I guess that's what I should expect, a soft child comes from a soft and weak father."
"If being kind and gentle is considered a weakness, I'd rather be weak, than some arrogant jerk." Goku said.
"You want to fight? Cause it sure sounds like a fight is what you want, Brother!" Raditz provoked, taking a stance.
"I'm not fighting you, Raditz." Goku replied.
"Yeah well that's too bad. You've been ordering around me enough!" Raditz yelled. "So you don't have a choice in the matter!"
Goku sighed to himself. "Raditz, fighting each other would be a waste of time." He said. "We need to focus on training."
Raditz scoffed. "Yeah...Right.. Training." He said. "You're such a naive fool, Brother! You can't expect me to believe that if we train, we can magically beat Vegeta! Maybe Nappa if we all worked together, but there's NO way! There's just no way we can win against Vegeta!"
"Of course we can! If we train hard enough!" Goku argued. "If we got stronger! We might be able to win! We have to try!"
"Ridiculous! My powerlevel is probably about seventeen fifty, right now! Maybe higher since I've done a little bit of training, nineteen hundred at best!" Raditz replied. "But there is no way! I can get even close to ten thousand! Let alone eighteen thousand!"
"You rely on your scouter thingy, too much." Goku pointed out. "Our energy detection technique is more accurate."
Raditz growled in frustration. "Forget that ridiculous technique! It means nothing! Get it through your skull!" He yelled. "There's no way we're winning!"
"We have to try...It's either that or die." Goku said.
"I'd rather die." Raditz turned around, beginning to walk away.
"So that's it? You're just going to give up?" Goku asked.
"Sure? Why not? It'd be way easier." Raditz answered, shrugging. "Better than going through all that effort then dying."
"I'd rather go through the effort, then be a coward." Goku said.
Raditz stopped, his breath became heavy. "I...am…..not…" Raditz whipped around, slamming his knee into Goku's chest, then slamming his fist against Goku's chin. Goku fell against the ground harshly. "A coward!"
"Listen here brother! You may order me around! But nobody calls Raditz a coward!" He yelled. Raditz stomped his foot onto Goku's chest, causing Goku to scream in pain. Gohan took notice, trying to run to Goku.
"Daddy!" Gohan panicked. However, he was pushed away by Raditz's leg. Gohan glared at his Uncle and growled. "Leave him alone!"
Raditz turned to Gohan, crushing his foot into Goku's chest. "And what're you going to do about it boy?"
Gohan bit his lips and frowned, what could he do about it? He was a four year old, and he was supposed to fight his Uncle? He couldn't do anything, at least that's what he thought.
"That's what I thought, cause just like your father, you're weak, soft, and pathetic." Raditz said. Gohan moved his gaze to Raditz, glaring at him, but didn't make a motion to do anything else. "Your father may think I'm a coward, but at least I'm not useless. I would've had this whole planet and it's worthless inhabitants killed!"
Gohan growled. "We're not worthless…" He mumbled.
"What's that? I can't hear you!" Raditz mocked. "Not under all that weakness! Run along with the rest of your trash species!"
Gohan clenched his fists, and got louder. "We're not trash!" He yelled.
"Or what?" Raditz asked. He dug his foot into Goku's chest harder, preventing Goku from trying to push Raditz off him, and made Goku scream louder. Then Raditz picked Goku up by his neck and hurled his fist into Goku's face, causing Goku to crash.
Then, Gohan's aura flared, his power spiked, gritting his teeth, he became enraged. "LEAVE MY DADDY ALONE!" He screamed. Gohan charged at Raditz, crashing his head into Raditz's chest, cracking a rib.
Raditz was sent several feet, and crashed into a nearby rock formation, before passing out.
Later on, when Raditz had woken up, Goku explained to him what happened….and Chichi found out. When she found out, oh did she not only lecture him, but no matter how much Raditz tried to intimidate her...it didn't work. She was much more intimidating to him, and he couldn't over intimidate her.
Completely frustrated, Raditz stormed off...for several hours, which began to sort of worry Goku.
Near a random tavern, Raditz sat quietly at the bar, drinking a strong drink. At least it was as strong as they could get it, but Raditz was a Saiyan! He could handle his alcohol just fine! At the very least a buzz would be nice, get his mind off all of this.
Of course something had jinxed it, cause then some loudmouth abrupt into the bar, kicking the Saloon doors down.
"Alright!" She yelled. A young blonde woman, with a green shirt, had two shotguns in her hands. The patrons of the bar around here looked in fear. "Y'all better listen up! If you don't hand me your green! Your money! I'll shoot!"
About everyone obeyed, giving her their money into her sack as she passed by each and every customer, all except one. One man, with long hair, that was Raditz, he attempted to ignore her and pretend as if she never came here.
"Hey you! Punk! You better be listening." The woman yelled. "Give me your muh-ney! AND your valuables, or I'll shoot." He ignored her, and this made her very mad. She became furious, and placed the tip of her gun at his neck. "Listen here Pun-.."
The man stood up, slowly turning around, giving an intimidating stare. Then he meld and bent the guns, both of them. Everyone, even her, looked shock, stunned. How did he do that? However, it didn't matter to the blonde woman, it was more of the fact that he broke HER stuff, not that he bent it like it was malleable.
"You sun of a!" She snarled. "How dare you! Now you owe me two guns! AND you're money!" He still didn't listen, once again she was mad, no one has ever done this...well..sort of… that was obviously excluding the Z-Fighters, she meant regular people. "You must have a death wish or somethin punk!"
She tried to pull Raditz from his seat, spin him around so she can whack him, but his seat stay unmoved, until Raditz manually turned himself around.
Raditz sighed. "Listen. I've had it up to here with this backwater planet. I've spent the last week being yelled at by some banshee, I've been ordered around by my younger brother, who is kind and weak! His power somehow is nearly equal to mine! And to top it off, some brat! Some brat knocked me out!"
He took two steps forward, and the blonde woman stepped back. "So I've been extremely annoyed! And irritated! I haven't had any fun or any relaxing since I've gotten here! So unless you wanna help me fix that! You better shut up!"
Raditz sat back down, The blonde woman dropped her jaw, she was stunned again, but instead of being quiet, she reacted in anger and slapped Raditz.
"How dare you!" The blonde woman yelled. "Nobody speaks that way to me! You should know who I am! My name is Launch!"
The customers and the bartender, widened their eyes in fear, they'd heard rumors of a lady with blonde hair with that same name, who was notorious for an extremely successful robbery streak.
Raditz laughed. "I've purged countless planets!" Raditz said, turning around. "Countless planets! With foes! Foes you cannot even begin to comprehend!"
"Okay Mr. Lunatic! I don't care about your fantasies, you're gonna buy me two new guns! TWO GREAT ones! At that!" Launch said. "Or else!"
"Or else what?" Raditz raised an eyebrow. "What could someone as weak as you do to me?"
"I'll show you what I could do to you punk!" Launch clenched her fists and threw it at Raditz, but Raditz inched his neck, rolling his eyes. She easily missed, she threw it again, throwing a confused look once more, seeing that she had missed.
She couldn't understand it, no matter what attacks she threw at him, he dodged, she only ended up stumbling into things from missing him. After a moment, she panted heavily, felt exhausted, he kept dodging, and she just couldn't figure it out.
The only ones she knew that were anywhere this fast were Goku, Tien, Krillin, Yamcha, and the others.
"Are you done yet?" Raditz asked. He wasn't even breaking a sweat, it was almost as if he did nothing, or if that was exactly it.
"Done? I'm just getting warmed up punk!" Launch answered. What she hadn't noticed was that all of the customers and the bartender had left, grabbing their valuables and money. They realized she was so focused on...whoever this was, that they could easily just slip away.
The next fist Launch threw, Raditz caught, and he smirked. "I got a better idea…"
"Hey, Chi. I'm going to go find Raditz." Goku said, putting his boots on.
Chichi walked up to the door. "Do you have to? He may be your brother Goku, but he's a jerk!" She asked. Goku nodded in response. Chichi sighed. "Alright. Go find him. Just if you're going to train Gohan, we need to talk about it first, alright?"
Goku nodded. "Of course, Chichi!" He smiled.
Goku took off, searching for Raditz's energy. When he had found him, an hour later, Goku almost wished he hadn't, seeing something he clearly shouldn't have. On the way home, Raditz finally spoke up.
"Uhm...So...could we like….just never speak of that?" Raditz asked.
Goku nodded. "Never speak of what?" Goku winked. "By the way, we got some extra clothes for you, since your armor...is well you know."
Raditz sighed, looking at his armor. "Yeah I guess…"
Back in the Present...about a day later...
"Okay, Kakarot. I've been thinking…" Raditz said, sitting on a log. "I'll take care of the runt, and train him. You're too soft anyways."
Goku laughed. "Oh Raditz! That's a good joke." Thoughts of Chichi flooded Goku's mind, as he tried to laugh off his own fear. "As if Chichi would let me let you do that….Besides, he's my son, I'd be happy and proud to teach him."
Raditz rolled his eyes. "..Fine...for...now…" He said, suspiciously. "Jokes aside. I've been thinking about other stuff. Have you truly forgotten your family, Kakarot? Like our mother and father?"
Goku nodded. "Yea...Sorry, Raditz, I really don't remember my family...I mean my Saiyan one, my biological parents, or you."
Raditz shrugged. "Don't be. Most Saiyans tend to not hold family values, we'd kill each other if we have to." He replied, stretching real quick. "I mean we say that….but really most of us are just way too stubborn to admit anything… I guess it's more like a mutual understanding kind of thing."
The two watched as Gohan prowled through the tall grassy meadow to find some prey. Quickly, Gohan caught a dove by digging his teeth into the bird. After he caught it, he stood up, smiled and looked cheerful.
"Look! Uncle! Dad! I caught it!" He cheered.
Goku turned to Raditz. "I told ya." Goku said. "A little bit of patience, and encouragement goes a long way."
Raditz rolled his eyes. "Yeah yea. But that doesn't mean we can only do that. Discipline is important too."
