Reformed Saiyans
Chapter Five: Simulations
Three months have passed since Raditz's arrival, as the fighters of Earth and Raditz make their way into becoming stronger, the Saiyans are making their way to Earth, travelling through various planets along the way.
One in particular, carried a race, a specimen of insectoid-like men, the two ruthless Saiyans were sure to wipe them clean, leaving some for to eat afterwards. Over a campfire, the two discussed their plans when they'd reach Earth.
"I'm still shocked that Raditz actually believed we were going to come save him!" Vegeta said, chuckling. He picked up what looked like to be an arm of the race, snapping the wrist off, tossing the hand aside. "I know It was three months ago, but it still cracks me up!" Vegeta turned to face Nappa as he bit off a piece of the arm. "Am I right, Nappa?"
Nappa nodded. "Yeah! I can't believe it either! Low class punk thought we were going to be his miracle workers or something!" He answered. The two busted laughing for a moment, then continued eating. "What do you think he's doing now?"
"Probably trying to find a way to escape us, or run, or something." Vegeta replied. "Y'know, like he always does, something cowardly."
"Agreed." Nappa said. "Could you imagine, that low class scum actually trying to…"get stronger", that'd be ridiculous!"
Vegeta snickered. "Yeah, at best, he could only reach a third of your level, and if that's if something miraculous happened." After finishing his food, he stood up, and stretched. Then he turned back to Nappa. "Welp. We should get going, get some distance in."
Nappa stood up and nodded in agreement, walking with Vegeta back to their two pods. The two climbed in their pods, closed the hatch, and lifted off. Before they initiated their stasis gas, Nappa spoke up.
"Y'know. As much as it was annoying to see such a low class warrior be at an elite's level." Nappa said. "Honestly, I would've preferred that scum's father over him. At least he would've been useful."
"Careful what you wish for, Nappa." Vegeta replied. "That jackass was never good for taking orders. For all we could know, Bardock would've been a bigger pain then his own son."
Nappa shrugged. "Yeah, I guess."
The gas then spreaded in both of their pods, and both warriors fell asleep, continuing their way to Earth.
"Runt! Wake up!" Raditz yelled, standing in the doorway of Gohan's room. Gohan shook awake, slightly stunned from the wake-up call. "Get your training clothes on, we're picking up the gravity chamber from Kakarot's friend."
Gohan's face lit up. "Really?!" He said. "Bulma has it finished?"
Raditz nodded. "Yeah yeah. Just hurry it up. I wanna get going, and I would've gotten it myself but I have no idea where she lives." Raditz muttered, turning around. "Nor will your father tell me." He exited the room.
After breakfast, Goku, Raditz, and Gohan left Mount Paozu to West City, where at Capsule Corp, they met up with Bulma. Being led to the large backyard, Bulma showed them both the gravity chamber, and an apparent surprise she had.
"It's in a capsule, so all you basically have to do is as you normally would with a regular Capsule." Bulma said, held in her hand was a red Capsule, she tossed it, and appeared in a large spherical room. "Come in." She motioned for them to follow her as she walked up the ramp into the room.
Raditz, Goku, and Gohan followed Bulma into the room, it was a mostly empty room, with a large thing in the middle, this was the control panel. It was in cylinder shape so it'd take up less room in the actual training room. The floor were red tiles, and the walls were white.
"How do we know it won't break while we're training?" Raditz asked.
Bulma turned around, with a face that basically said, "I was hoping you'd ask that."
"Simple. It took me a while to think of it, but I created the walls and the floors of an absorbing material that can absorb energy and use the energy to make itself more durable and to repair itself." She explained.
Goku and Raditz looked surprised, Gohan, on the other hand, was more interested in the console itself.
"You managed to do that?" Goku asked, sounding shocked. "Are you sure it can handle the amount of power we'll be exerting?"
Bulma nodded. "Yes. I asked Shenron to make the material for me."
"That explains why you used the Dragon Balls, a couple months ago." Goku replied.
"Wait. So this Dragon can make a material that can absorb an immense amount of energy, and use that energy to repair and increase it's durability…" Raditz said, pausing for a second. "But it can't wish away the other two?"
Bulma shrugged. "Well, creating a material that can absorb energy is different from directly killing someone with a greater power, I guess? I dunno." She answered. "At least that's what I've assumed."
"How does it work?" Raditz asked.
Bulma pointed to the console. "This is the console, it's simple and straightforward." She replied. "There's an off/on button right here, and when you turn it on, you can increase the level of gravity, customly, by typing it in on the keyboard." She pointed to the keyboard.
"What about that surprise you were talking about earlier." Goku said.
"Oh!" She replied. "I almost forgot." She motioned for them to follow her, after which, she stored the room back in it's capsule, then pulled out another Capsule. This one was slightly bigger with three yellow stripes on it. Then tossed it out, and out of the capsule came what looked similarly to the console from the previous room. The only difference is, it was larger, and had a massive antenna sticking out the top.
"What's that?" Gohan asked, curiously. He walked up to the console, unconsciously wagging his tail.
"This is something I had originally come up with before making the wish to Shenron for the absorbent material." Bulma explained. "Similarly to the room, you can enter the amount of G force you wish to train with on the keyboard, and it creates a field where the gravity is heavier."
"I'd show you, but uhm...we'd need more room for that." Bulma said.
"We can fix that problem easily." Goku smiled. Which is exactly what he did, they flew over to the country land with Bulma, far enough from the city that no one would notice. Bulma once again threw the Capsule out, allowing the console to appear from thin air.
"Now let me stand back a little bit." Bulma said. She backed up, and then with a remote she pulled out of her pocket, pressed a button. An electrical almost looking sphere generated around the console, going about twenty feet in radius. "With this version of the Gravitron, which is what I'm calling it, you can increase and decrease the radius of the gravity field generated at will."
"Why did you make the room then if we have this?" Raditz wondered.
"It was easier to find a way to have the gravity contained within a room than it is to have a field generation." Bulma answered. "I wasn't sure if this would even be possible for me to figure out within three months, but I did it!" She pressed another button on the remote, this time the field expanded, widely, to almost four miles.
She walked back up to the three, and showed the remote. "With this you can also control it by a remote if you need to. The field can expand up to a total of ten miles, but that is without the simulation mode."
"Simulation Mode?" Goku said.
Bulma nodded. "Yup! This device can also simulate scenarios, training partners, etc."
"How can it do that?" Gohan asked, turning to Bulma.
"Here, it'll be easier to demonstrate." Bulma answered. She pressed a button on the remote, the field shrunk quickly back in, then out from the console, several round holes opened, and some strange spherical pieces of metal came out. These metallic orbs, about twenty of them or so, slowly floated away in sync, shaping like a dome.
Once they were done, steam released from them, and they became stagnant. Bulma motioned the three fighters once more to follow her.
"On this console, you can select a wide variety of simulations through the touchscreen." Bulma explained, swiping through the console with her index finger, she clicked on one scenario that said "MARS".
Then several rectangular blocks came out of each metallic orb in various spots on the orbs, and shifted through positions. A thick mist appeared momentarily, when the mist disappeared, it appeared as if they were on Mars.
"Wait a second…" Raditz said. "This looks like that other backwater planet in this system...what was it called?"
"Mars." Bulma said, answering his question. "Although it looks, and feels like Mars." Bulma waved a fan on her and pulled it out to keep her cool. "You can still breathe here because it's not really mars, unless you put the simulation on to the most realistic setting."
Bulma went through, describing each setting, and the basics of how the device worked. This way, they'd be able to immediately get into training as soon as possible. Once she was done, the three took the two capsules, and left.
They returned to Mount Paozu at dusk. "With a simulation device, this should allow training to go much smoother." Raditz said, facing his brother. "Well...Mostly for the runt. He needs the experience more than us. We'll have to take turns watching him in the simulation."
"Sounds good to me." Goku replied. "Bulma said there was a monitor to watch it from the outside, right?" Raditz nodded in response. "That should be good." He turned to his son. "Okay Gohan. Starting tomorrow, after your studies, we're gonna put you in your first battle, alright?"
Gohan smiled and nodded. "Alright!" He said cheerfully.
That next day, after Gohan's studies, which took until noon exactly, and after some quick lunch, Gohan would enter his first battle, well his simulation battle anyway. On the inside, it was cold, the ground was covered in snow, and there was a small blizzard pushing through Gohan's way.
Gohan's mission was to recover a powerful artifact, whose details were purposely unknown. Gohan had to figure out what this artifact was, what it did, and where to find it. On top of it all, he had to stop anyone he saw on his path.
The gravity here was never changed for the purpose of this simulation. Due to the field generated by the orbs, no one could come in or out, Goku set it purposely that way to avoid animals or insects accidentally getting inside and dying due to any harsh conditions he might set it on.
Droids were formed by some of the orbs that kept the simulation going, they weren't holograms, they were real, solid figures, and they could be simulated to look like anything. The purpose of this simulation was for multiple things.
One. Gohan needed to better his energy control. The harsh winter conditions forced Gohan to use his energy to warm himself, at the same time, if there were any enemies out there, he'd have to fight them, which would also take both his physical energy and ki.
Two. To help Gohan better understand his own battle instincts, battle instincts which everyone had, but also his Saiyan battle instincts.
Three. Generally to give him more experience, despite that, Simulations were still simulations in the end, no matter how real. So this only applied so far.
Goku monitored Gohan through a small monitor given from Bulma, a cloaked camera would follow Gohan at a distance, and monitor his vitals as well. There was even a loudspeaker, so if needed Goku could guide Gohan.
Goku immediately noticed Gohan was using too much energy, shown by the fact that where he stepped the snow melted instantly beneath his feet, and from his vitals displayed on the monitor.
"Gohan." Goku said. Gohan stopped looking up. "Ease your ki control, you're using too much."
Gohan nodded. "Yes Dad!" He replied.
Gohan continued walking through, going straight. The field went up to a maximum of five miles but thanks to the simulation, Gohan could easily be thrown off. It had a system to know when Gohan was getting close to his walls, so it knew it had to create an illusion where'd it trick Gohan into thinking he was moving elsewhere instead of walking straight into the barrier.
"Man. This is one of the greatest things Bulma has ever created!" Goku muttered. It made him excited to try it for himself, but he had to wait. Gohan needed this training, and Raditz was using the other one, not that the other one had simulation but it did have increased gravity.
He could technically train with Raditz in the same room but then who would be watching Gohan? This was only temporary luckily, after a while, Gohan would have to do it without monitoring, and eventually he'd be doing some with his Uncle and Father.
Gohan climbed several hills of snow, climbed through icy mountains, but after a while, it was still nothing. No clues for what he was supposed to do, no droids coming to fight him, he'd almost wonder if his father actually forgot to press anything.
His thoughts were proven wrong a moment later, out of nowhere, appeared a well-built, lizard-like humanoid, with sharp fangs, a large muscular tail and body. He sped out of nowhere, whacking Gohan with his tail, causing Gohan to be sent flying, then immediately fired an energy blast at Gohan.
Gohan recovered swiftly, stopping himself from being sent flying, grounded his feet, and released a powerful shout which caused a strong kiai to strike the Lizardman's blast. The energy blast detonated, causing a great explosion, which Gohan reacted swiftly by crossing his two arms in front of him.
He was knocked a few feet away into the soft snowy ground, but something had hurt him. "Ow!" Gohan shouted. He sat back up, looked for the Lizardman, he was gone, and Gohan shrugged. Then turning to the ground, he saw a rock. Gohan looked confused. "What's a rock doing here?"
It's not that rocks wouldn't exist in tundras, but the idea of a rock randomly appearing in a blanket of snow, where nearly nothing else was, seemed suspicious. Gohan lifted the rock, beneath it was a glass key, and a map.
Gohan's face lit up. "A map?! It must have some clues to where I can find the artifact." Gohan slapped his forehead, no duh of course it does! That's what a map is for!
The map led Gohan into a large cave, where he went down several paths, solved multiple puzzles, fought several guards of various shapes, there were Skeletons, more Lizardman, strange blocky creatures, even mushroom men. After about two hours, Gohan had finally made it, to the end, he saw a bright glowy green diamond. Gohan reached for it, attempted to pick it out, when several bars dropped around it.
Gohan's eyes slightly widened and then he looked confused. "What?" Gohan spoke. Before he could figure out why this had to happen, he heard a voice, a nasty and grouchy voice.
"I see ye be trying to steal me jewel!" It shouted. The voice belonged to a kind of minotaur, with a Pirate Captain's hat, a large grey beard, and pirate's hook. Which was weird, what did Pirates have to do with a cave in a tundra in the middle of nowhere? Perhaps the thing was malfunctioning, or it seemed simpler to do this?
Gohan shrugged it off, lowering himself to face the Captain. "I wasn't trying to steal it." He protested. "I was trying to retrieve it for my-.."
"Quiet! I know what you're trying to do!" The Minotaur Pirate interrupted. "Trick Me! Persuade Me! Into thinkin you're taking it for the greater good! But ye be a fool for trying to steal me jewel!"
"N-No!" Gohan stuttered, waving his hands, trying to show he wasn't lying. "I swear! I was trying to simply complete a quest!"
The Minotaur Pirate scoffed. "Lies! If you want that Jewel, ye'd have to go through me!" He leaped forward, darting to Gohan, hurling a punch in the halfbreed's gut, sending Gohan against the stone walls of the cave.
Gohan tried to resist, but it was still a painful enough attack to force a short groan of pain out of him. After being knocked against the walls, Gohan fell to the ground, quickly standing back firm on his feet. Immediately, he saw the minotaur coming after him, this time, Gohan dodged his next fist, jumping over to the side.
Gohan then turned around to face the Piratetaur and leaped forward, swinging his leg at him. However the Piratetaur ducked, bending his head back, then quickly caught Gohan's leg, and threw the halfbreed to his ship in the distance.
Gohan crashed into the ship, breaking through its strong wooden floors, and into the lower deck. A few of the splinters and broken wood pieces cut Gohan's right cheek, as well his chest. Luckily, thanks to the boy's armor and gi, which he'd been given by Raditz, the problem was solved.
This was at the request of Kami, when Goku took Raditz to get some new armor thanks to Kami's Materialization abilities. The armor wasn't as strong as Raditz's original armor, but it certainly was more comfortable and worked fine. Unlike Gohan who had a gi similar to his father, minus the blue undershirt, and a battle chest armor, Raditz was a dark schemed jumpsuit and chest armor.
Raditz's armor had no shoulderpads, and his gloves and boots were dark navy blue with a dark green outline. Gohan's armor was also dark-schemed, but his gi was bright like his fathers, but colors were reversed, blue on the main parts of the clothes, orange on the others like his wristbands.
The cuts that were formed were small, but it still caused him to bleed and leave him vulnerable. As Gohan stood back up, the Piratetaur lowered right in front of him.
"Ye see what happens when ye mess with me most prized possession?" The Piratetaur said, taking a stance. "Ye get punished! Harshly!"
"I wasn't trying to steal it!" Gohan snarled, showing his teeth angrily. "I was trying to retrieve it for a mission!"
The Piratetaur scoffed. "Sure ye were! And you totally didn't know what kind of power that artifact possessed! Without it! I'd be nothing!"
Gohan frowned angrily. "Yes! Exactly! I didn't!"
The Piratetaur ignored him, taking on the offense, launching a fist into Gohan's chin, sending the boy upwards out the same hole he fell in. Gohan nearly crashed into the pointy walls of the cave, but stopped himself. Gohan sighed, realizing that this guy wasn't going to listen, and knew if he didn't try to fight for real, he'd get killed.
Gohan clenched his fists, and closed his eyes, concentrating his energy, his aura outlined his body, and as the Piratetaur approached, Gohan countered the Piratetaur's next punch. Deflecting it by whacking his fist against the Piratetaur's wrist.
A small shock wave generated from impact, then Gohan threw another fist, aimed at the Piratetaur's gut but the Piratetaur had blocked, gripped Gohan's arm, and approached near the ground as he swung Gohan harshly into the ground.
The ground cracked but endured the slam, not collapsing in. Gohan released a painful growl, as he tried to turn away and stand back up. That attack had Gohan's entire body to ache intensely, and his balance to become weak. After a few seconds though, he managed to endure through it, allowing his balance to return to normal.
The battle continued to rage on, the two fighters exchanged blows, one sometimes taking the advantage over the other, seemingly nearly equal. After about ten minutes however, Gohan was the only panting much heavier than the Piratetaur.
The Piratetaur still had plenty of stamina to give, but Gohan had little. It became in the Piratetaur's favor, and he knew it, now the Piratetaur took the advantage, going after Gohan kneeing the boy in his gut.
Gohan was pushed about a few feet upwards and such a mighty blow caused him to cough saliva out, along with the oxygen from his lungs. Before he fell back to the ground, the Piratetaur swung his leg against Gohan's left cheek, causing him to be sent flying towards one of the cave walls, but the Piratetaur appeared ahead of Gohan.
As Gohan approached, the Piratetaur sent a fist to Gohan's chin, then going above Gohan before he could crash in the walls, the Piratetaur gave Gohan a double-axe handle to the neck, sending Gohan crashing back into the Piratetaur's ship.
The ship split in half upon getting struck, the entire center of it was wrecked, Gohan had even gone straight to the cold and hard floor of the cave. The Piratetaur lowered himself once more, an angry look formed on his face.
"Argh! Look what ye have made me do!" The Piratetaur spoke impassively. He looked around, seething with anger. "Ye have gone and made me wreck my ship! For that ye will pay tenfold!"
The Piratetaur lifted Gohan up by the neck of his clothes, and pulled his fist back, releasing his grip from Gohan's clothes as he hurled his fist against Gohan's right cheek. Gohan crashed into the walls of the cave yet again, this time causing a massive spider web of a crack.
Gohan fell to his knees a second after, a small amount of blood forced its way out of his mouth, and one of his teeth had come loose. Noticing this, Goku had spoken up, only slightly worried.
"Hey Gohan." Goku said. "You're doing great, but if you need me to stop the simulation, just say the word." It wasn't that Goku had doubted it, but still Gohan was only four after all. He saw the potential in Gohan and there was no need to push so hard.
After a quick breath, Gohan shook his head. "No! I-..I can keep going!" He shouted.
The Piratetaur lifted an eyebrow, looking at Gohan as if he was crazy. "Hallucinating already boy?" He said. "It appears I hit you harder than I thought!" The Piratetaur threw another fist but Gohan caught it.
"I'm not giving up!" Gohan shouted. He hurled a fist ferociously into the Piratetaur's gut, then grabbed the Piratetaur's arm and threw him right back into the rubble of his own ship. Immediately, Gohan lifted his right hand, placing his left hand on his right wrist, generating a pink electrical sphere with a smaller pink smoother ki sphere after. "Saturday Crash!"
Gohan swung his hand down, aimed at the Piratetaur, as the Piratetaur stood up, all he saw was the blast hitting him right before he met his own doom. Gohan panted heavily, placing his hands on his knees, before collapsing into the ground.
Goku had noticed the spike in Gohan's energy at that moment, and had watched with pride. Now, trying to turn off the simulation, something went wrong? Gohan's vitals were okay, but it showed a state of unconsciousness. He'd figured Gohan was exhausted, so that wasn't the issue, but what went wrong was despite him turning off the simulation, nothing happened.
"That's odd. Why won't it work?" Goku mumbled. He tried to do a hard reset as well, Bulma said that should fix most odd issues. Still nothing. "Maybe Raditz might know what to do." He stood up, and walked around the house, to the front yard, knocking on the chamber's door. "Raditz!"
From inside, Raditz shouted, grumbling to himself. He turned off the gravity, and opened the door. "What's up?"
"The Simulator, it won't turn off. Gohan completed it, and I went to turn it off." Goku answered.
"Did you try to do a hard reset?" Raditz asked. Goku nodded. "Here hand it to me, I'll try something." Goku handed the small monitor device, which basically looked like a circular tablet, pressing several buttons. Then after walking to the backyard, to see if what he had done worked, which did not, Raditz tried something else. "This is weird. Perhaps we should ask your Scientist Friend."
Goku rubbed his chin. "I guess. I'll go get her, you stay here, make sure nothing bad happens."
Raditz nodded in response.
Meanwhile...
"H-Huh..What?" Gohan rubbed his eyes open. It had to have been a couple hours since he fell asleep earlier. When he awoke, he was in his backyard, Gohan got up from the ground, and then became a bit confused. "Why am I still on the ground?" He figured his Father or Uncle would've put him somewhere a little better for rest.
Yet here he stood in his own backyard, Gohan scratched his head, then brushed it off, maybe he was wrong and it's been like a couple of minutes. He got up, turned around, and dropped his jaw. This was not how he left his home, or really any of Earth.
His home, it was in ruins, destroyed, the forest it was destroyed as well, dead trees everywhere, some were just stumps. The sky looked bright as if a wildfire was going on, but there were no smoke to be seen anywhere, Gohan floated up to get a better look, and for miles he saw destruction.
He couldn't figure it out, how...how could this happen? Gohan gaped in horror, then...something else caught his eye...It was...his father?!
To be continued…
A/N: Ooo Les go!
