Reformed Saiyans
Chapter Seven: A Million Miles
The following week post Raditz's arrival, the Z-Fighters, Tienshinhan, Yamcha, Krillin, Chiaotzu, and surprisingly, Yajirobe were all invited to Kami's lookout to train and be taught by Kami. However, one month has passed since then and so far Kami has yet to even reveal himself since they've arrived.
Beginning to become frustrated, excluding Yajirobe who'd rather be lazing around, the four decided to confront Kami. Facing the halls and entrance of Kami's throne room where he'd been sitting, the group walked forward, but stopped when they saw Kami step out of the shadows.
The four looked a bit surprised to see him come out. Immediately, they gave a respectful bow, and Tien spoke first.
"Kami." He said. "We'd like to talk to you about our-..."
Kami lifted a hand to stop Tien from talking.. "I know what you're going to say." Kami replied. The group moved out of Kami's way when he walked down the steps. "You're wanting more training, actual teachings, correct?"
"Yes! Please. This isn't working out!" Krillin answered.
"Yeah, at this rate, we'll never be strong enough." Yamcha added, stepping forward. "Don't get me or us wrong, we've learned a lot from Mr. Popo. But we need more if we're gonna be of any help."
Kami turned around as the four stood up. "I agree." He replied. The others looked stunned, Tien was preparing to protest assuming Kami would say something else. "However, you'd all be wise to be patient. I do have something in store for you, but I'd prefer you wait til the time is right."
"We don't have a lot of time!" Tien pointed out. "We have eleven months left to train, and so far it feels like we haven't made much progress."
"Yeah and these guys…" Yamcha added on. "I know normally, a year would be enough to get dramatically stronger, but for how strong Tien is now, and in comparison to what we were told…"
"We need to be at least ten times stronger to stand a chance." Krillin finished.
Kami looked at Tien, raising an eyebrow. "You know, power isn't everything in battle."
Tien nodded. "I know Kami. I understand that." He said. "But we need more than this! We're not the only ones that feel it, you feel it too, don't you?"
Kami sighed. "I do, but being impatient will get us nowhere. Trust in Popo's training, and the reward will be great." He returned to his throne room, where the others sighed.
Later, Mr. Popo instructed them on another lesson. "Because we are so high up in the sky, the air is thinner, and it's tougher on humans." Mr. Popo said. He paced to the right, looking into the clouds, a bird had flown its way. "Like this bird, it requires more energy to move, more energy to breathe, and to do just about anything."
The bird flew to one of the few trees on the lookout, where it worked on it's nest. "And yet, it finds a way to make do." Mr Popo continued. He turned back to the others, facing them. "By making less unnecessary movements, and conserving its energy, the bird can learn to survive the tougher atmosphere. Even down on the ground, this is important. Quiet as the Sky but Fast as Lightning."
Mr. Popo struck a nearby dummy down in a single hit, a powerful blow that had shocked the group. "Like Lightning, you want to be powerful and accurate. It's the accuracy that allows for the least required movement." Mr. Popo explained as he moved back to the others. "At the same time, you still want to be quiet like the sky. It's quiet because you moved so fast that no one could hear or see it coming, but your movements as well were precise."
Mr. Popo motioned for Tien to take a stance. "Even for something as basic as running, you want to take the most precise of movements." Mr. Popo dashed forward, and threw a powerful palm strike against Tien's lower strike. Tien was knocked off balance, and tossed ten feet away, the strike itself didn't hurt, due to Mr. Popo holding back, but even being knocked into the ground could hurt.
The other three widened their eyes. "T-That was incredible!" Krillin shouted, his mouth gaped open.
Mr. Popo held a hand out for Tien to grab. "Yeah." Tien said. he dusted himself off once balanced. "I couldn't even see it coming."
Mr. Popo returned to his original position. "Learn this principle, master it, and hold it to heart."
The others nodded in response, continuing their training, trying to practice what Mr. Popo had shown them. During the training session, Mr. Popo walked up to Tien, who stopped himself, and bowed.
"You said you've trained with Goku within the last year, correct?" Mr. Popo asked. Tien nodded in response. "Has he taught you anything during that time, or were you merely trying to get stronger?"
Tien averted his gaze for a second as he thought, then looked back. "Truthfully. At first, I trained with Goku to advance my martial arts, but it was hard cause he became so much stronger than I. So we worked, worked really hard to get stronger, the both of us." Tien explained. "And as we became stronger, Goku did teach me some things he learned here, but it wasn't any different than things I have already learned."
"You and the others are aware of energy sensing, yes?" Mr. Popo asked. Tien nodded again. Mr. Popo thought to himself for a second, then an idea formed in his head. "Next Morning, I have a special session for you four. Let the others know, I'll tell you what when morning comes."
Then morning came, and the others stood in attention, waiting for Mr. Popo's announcement. After about ten minutes, he'd come out, and walked in front of the four.
"I need you all to try to sense each other's energy for me." Mr. Popo said. The four had confused and questioning looks on their faces, but did so anyway. "Now what do you feel?"
"Nothing different from before. Just everyone's energy." Yamcha spoke first. The others nodded in agreement.
"Yea. It's about the same as before." Krillin added.
"Try to focus harder, don't you notice anything different?" Mr. Popo asked.
The others took deep breaths, kept their eyes closed, and searched. There! Tien noticed it first, it was the tiniest little difference, but he felt it.
"It's…It's harder to search for energies." Tien pointed out. The others agreed.
"Correct. Here, the air is thinner, searching one's energy is much tougher, because it requires more focus." Mr. Popo explained. "Generally speaking, doing your regular energy techniques should be harder than usual as well, due to the amount of required concentration. For the next month, you should focus on your energy."
Mr. Popo walked up to Tien first. "You have a strong spirit Tienshinhan, restraint, devoted, and powerful. However, due to your past it's been tainted, and because of your switch from bad to good, it's conflicted." Mr. Popo said. "Work and meditate on this, when you manage to resolve that, your Spirit will be exponentially stronger."
Mr. Popo walked up to Yamcha next. "Your Spirit is rather weak and undisciplined. You get far too cocky in battle, and this ends in your downfall." Mr. Popo pointed out. Yamcha frowned with slight embarrassment. "Learn proper restraint, and train your Spirit. Meditation will always be the best way to reflect on how this can be achieved. Your Spirit reminds me somewhat like Goku's."
Mr. Popo walked to Krillin next. "Your Spirit is strong, Krillin, but too afraid to show itself, it's been tainted by your own lack of confidence, rather than overconfidence." Mr. Popo stated. "Bravery isn't being fearless, but rather showing that you can overcome the fear that frightens you. You've shown this before, now let it guide you and your Spirit."
Krillin nodded, giving a respectful bow as Mr. Popo walked off, like the two others before him. Next was Chiaotzu, Mr. Popo walked up to him, and of course, like the others, Chiaotzu respectfully bowed.
"Your Spirit like Tienshinhan's has been tainted by your past actions. You have a strong Spirit too, Chiaotzu, but you need to learn mercy, and compassion." Mr. Popo said. "Meditate on this, Meditate with others as well."
Mr Popo walked back to the center. "Spend the next month working on your Spirit. Meditate both alone and together, for both will serve a purpose."
The four nodded in response, and did as told. They spent the whole next month, meditating and practicing the principle given to them. Yamcha, Krillin, and Chiaotzu had seemed to have progressed the most, but that was most likely merely due to the fact that Tien was still at a greater height of strength then they were.
One month came and Mr. Popo assessed them, fighting them one on one, and a few times in groups of random. Then, Mr. Popo showed them a room, a room where the fighters were allowed to travel to a dangerous place…or rather time, a room that simulated a time travel experience.
This allowed Mr. Popo to watch them as they fought foes, fighters who were actually of threat rather than Mr. Popo, who they acknowledged as a friend. Fighters from other worlds, and pastimes, even Saiyans. Saiyans although that were weaker than the ones they were going to face.
Even allowing tests and trials for them to face.
Again, he walked to Tien first.
"You've grown, your Spirit once tainted, now nearly non-existent." Mr. Popo said. "Continue to Meditate, continue to remain within such a spirit, and you will become your own true potential."
He walked to Yamcha next. "When you fought me today, you showed much better restraint, you didn't overestimate yourself, or underestimated me. Well done." Yamcha bowed, and gave a thank you to Mr. Popo.
He walked to Krillin next. "You stayed brave, and overcame your fears. You managed to take on an opponent clearly more skilled and stronger despite it. Excellent." Krillin did the same as Yamcha before, bowing and thanking him.
Finally, Mr. Popo came to Chiaotzu. "And you as well have done an excellent job. Rather than slaying the Saiyan who nearly killed you. You gave him mercy, showed him compassion, and although in the end he'd killed you, you were able to accept that. Great Job."
Chiaotzu as well gave a bow to Mr. Popo, and then Mr. Popo walked back to the center once more, in front of all of them.
"For the next month, we'll continue to do the same, but this time, I'll be having each of you in the Pendulum room, in separate battles from each other. You may even face yourself or each other, or a different version of each other. Do an excellent job, so that you may prepare for the imminent threat." Mr. Popo spoke.
Then Mr. Popo returned to aiding his garden while they trained. Three months in total had come and gone, finally, Kami returned outside, unannounced too, which surprised the others, startled even.
"K-Kami? What're you doing here?" Krillin asked. He'd been doing his morning stretches, and so when Kami came out, Krillin stood straight, and gave a respectful bow. The others near him, did the same as well.
"I have some good news." Kami said. He looked at the four, observed them for a moment, nodded to himself. They've improved, alot, enough, he could feel it. "And I think it's time."
"Time for what?" Tien asked politely.
"You see, when you'd first gotten here, I was unsure of even thinking about it, but I put in a request to King Yemma." Kami explained. "A request that would allow you four to train in Otherworld, regardless of being dead."
"Train in the Otherworld?" Yamcha looked shocked, as did the others. "Isn't that…y'know? The Afterlife?"
Kami nodded. "Indeed. However, I can take you there, both in spirit and physical body." Kami answered. "Finally, today the request has been approved. It took a lot of negotiating, but King Yemma is letting me take you four to a Special Martial Arts Trainer that exists in the Otherworld."
Krillin's face lit up with eagerness. "Then what're we waiting for! Let's go!" He said cheerfully.
"There are a few things you must know before you go." Kami announced. "One. You must treat King Yemma, as well as this Martial Arts trainer, I will be taking you too, with the utmost respect. These people are no joke. King Yemma is the judge of the dead, and The North Kai, the one I'll be taking you to, is one of the most powerful Martial Artists in the world."
"You gotta be kidding!" Yamcha gasped. "The most powerful?"
Kami nodded again. "Yes. Two. The journey to the North Kai's place won't be easy. It consists of a One Million Mile path!"
The four's eyes widened, and their jaws dropped. "O-One Million Miles?!" Krillin shouted.
"There's no way we can do that and still have time for training!" Tien added, even he was doubtful.
"Perhaps, but I believe you four can make it, with plenty of time to spare. I have faith in you." Kami replied. "As for Three. There was a condition, in order to have this approved, when sometime later down the line, you four died. King Yemma has asked in return for at least a total of a hundred years of servitude."
"W-What?" The four simultaneously gasped.
"And you didn't even bother to ask us first?!" Krillin dropped his jaw again, giving a bit of a steamed look.
Kami shook his head. "I figured it'd be a small price to pay, after all once you die, you're granted an eternity in the afterlife."
The four sighed. "That doesn't mean you can go and make offers like that though, Kami." Tien said. "However…I guess it isn't a big deal." He looked at the others who shrugged and nodded, with exhausted looks on their faces.
"Good. With that out of the way, please stay still as possible." Kami said. He tapped his staff three times on the ground, and suddenly began to phase out. The group of fighters looked shocked and confused, was Kami teleporting them? Either way this was weird, and felt almost surreal.
Then no longer were they on Earth, nor the world of living, but in a giant office room, where there were souls lined up, a couple fighting over who was in line first.
"Settle Down! Settle Down!" A giant red ogre bellowed. He was massive, at least fifty times the size of them, if not more. Next to his desk legs were two small ogres, of what the Earthlings would consider a normal size. They were seemingly attendants. "I'll send both of you back in the line, if you don't knock it off-.. Oh, Kami…"
The red ogre, known as King Yemma, became a bit startled. "Give me a few minutes and I'll have them taken care of."
Kami nodded in response, and after a few minutes, the line became a bit slower. King Yemma spoke up.
"Okay, before I let you guys pass, I'll need to check you in." King Yemma said. He motioned for the four to come forward, who looked a bit skeptical, and looked at Kami, who nodded in response. "State your name please, and one at a time."
Tien went first. "Tienshinhan."
King Yemma wrote a few things on a piece of paper and stamped it. Next, Yamcha came up, then Krillin, and Chiaotzu. "Alright. One of my attendants here will lead the way, and please hurry up, I'm very busy."
Kami faced the other four. "Okay, this is as far as I go. Please train as hard as you can, and please give the North Kai all of your respect. It was really hard to get this request granted."
The four nodded, Kami tapped his staff, disappeared, and then the four followed one of the ogre attendants, a shorter, blue colored ogre, who's a bit overweight, took them through a quick hallway, which led to Snake Way.
A giant snake's head stood in front of them, and for miles upon miles you could see its path go on.
"Okay. Before you go on, I must inform you that if you fall off, there is no going back." The attendant spoke.
"No going back?" Tien said.
Krillin raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" He asked.
"Well, you Earthlings have your own ideologies on the afterlife, correct?" The attendant asked. They nodded in response. "Okay. So I'm aware you assume there is Heaven and Hell… Well essentially we have something like that of the sort. There are three different levels of hell, one, the basic one, hfil, where basically it's like one massive prison. This is where ordinary threats or non "special" criminals go."
The ogre pointed to his right at a strange abandoned machine. "The second level is where souls get purged in a machine like this." He looked at the machine. "Although…this is the old one, it's been unused for millennias." He scratched the back of his head chuckling sheepishly.
"What's the third level?" Tien asked.
"The third level is where the worst of the worst go." The ogre answered. "That's a special place in hell, where the most evil get custom made tortures. Unlike in HFIL where it is possible to gain some sort of redemption although highly unlikely, in the third level, True Hell, you can never break free from it."
The four looked stunned, especially Tien, who'd thought to himself, if he hadn't changed his ways, he could've ended up there, the thought was…dark.
"Anyways. You might wanna get going." The ogre spoke. "The Snake Way path is a long path, one million miles, and almost no one has ever made it."
The group widened their eyes. "N-No one?!" Krillin stuttered.
"Has anyone ever made it?" Chiaotzu said.
The ogre nodded, lifting his index finger. "One person. King Yemma made it himself, after a thousand years."
"A t-thousand years?!" Yamcha shouted. All four gasped, they needed to make it there within at least a few months!
"I wouldn't worry about it. I can tell you four are much stronger than he was when he did it." The ogre lightened the mood. "When King Yemma did it, he wasn't nearly as fast nor strong, and then when received the training from King Kai, he made it back in way less time."
"How much time are we talking about?" Krillin wondered.
"Well, before it took nearly a thousand years, afterwards it only took him about a few years."
Again, the four were surprised once more, this day turned out to be full of surprises. "Then I guess, The North Kai must be a pretty damned good teacher." Yamcha pointed out.
The ogre nodded. "Yup!" He said cheerfully. The four then began their journey down the path of one million miles.
"Okay. Are you guys ready?" Tien asked. The three nodded in response, Yamcha and Krillin got in running stances, while the other two floated up. After a full second, all four raced off the path, going at their own max speeds, well a steady max speed anyways. Keeping a steady pace would allow them to get the most distance without breaks in total.
After about nearly half a day and for what seemed like an endless road, they took a break.
"Man…we spent half a day doing this, and nothing has changed." Krillin said, stating the obvious.
Yamcha shrugged. "Yeah. But I guess that's what you get from a one million mile path."
"In retrospect, I shouldn't have brought my weighted clothing." Tien said, letting a short chuckle escape him.
"Agreed." Krillin added. "I honestly didn't think this through….and speaking of not thinking this through…uh what're we going to eat?"
That hadn't crossed anyone's mind, what would they eat? They're on an seemingly endless path, which for all they could know, could end up taking longer to finish than a year, which would be bad. Still they had to stay positive, strangely enough, hunger didn't occur to their stomach, and running half a day is the same as swimming for an hour, you should be extremely hungry.
Chiaotzu raised his hand. "Oo! Maybe it's because we're not in a physical realm, we're unable to get hungry?" Chiaotzu suggested.
Tien shook his head. "No, that doesn't seem right. I mean we still have our physical bodies, our living bodies, so we should get hungry regardless."
Krillin nodded in agreement. "It is a bit weird, but yeah, I don't see why we shouldn't get hungry."
Yamcha shrugged. "Oh well. Whatever the case, at least we don't have to worry about it for now. I say we take a quick nap or something, get some energy back, then continue our way there?"
The others nodded in agreement. For what seemed endless, and endless, after a long three months, they made it to the tail of the path, only one problem had occurred.
"Uh…" Krillin said, clearing his throat. "So now what? I mean…is there maybe a secret password or uh door or something?" He looked at his friends who shrugged. Krillin scratched his head, and looked around. "There's gotta be something…"
The four looked around, trying to find a clue or something, because all there was, was this…end of the path.
"Maybe It's an invisible path!" Yamcha said. He got close to the tip. "I bet if we just walk right over-..." Yamcha stepped his foot over, and felt nothing, nearly falling, luckily he managed to grip the end of the tail. "Uh a little help!"
Chiaotzu used his telekinesis to lift Yamcha back over onto the safer part of the path, although a bit struggling, Yamcha was heavy, well his weighted clothes were anyways. Yamcha let a sigh of relief out once he was back on the path.
"That was a close one!" Yamcha said. "Thanks Chiaotzu!"
"You should really be careful, Yamcha. You would've set us back." Krillin pointed out.
Yamcha gave a sheepish grin, and chuckled. "Heh, sorry."
After another moment, finally they'd found it. "Look!" Tien pointed out. There, out in the distance was a small planet. "I think that's it!"
"Alright! Nice going Tien!" Yamcha cheered.
"But how're we all going to get up there?" Krillin asked. "I mean, Yamcha and I aren't exactly capable of flying yet…not very well anyways."
Tien placed his elbow on his left hand, rubbing his chin. "Hmm. I guess, Chiaotzu could use his telekinesis, and try to do it one at a time." He said, facing his friend.
Chiaotzu sighed. "I'll try." He replied. Chiaotzu floated up, closer to the planet, then carefully and steadily, lifted both Krillin and Yamcha, towards him, after a few minutes, all four were gripped into the planet by it's strong orbit, slammed face down.
Easily, anyone could recognize that there was something off about this planet, they all felt so heavy.
"W-What the hell?!" Tien said, trying to push himself up. "It's like someone placed an entire mountain on me!"
"Y-yea!" Krillin added, stuttering. He couldn't even roll himself over with ease. "I can barely move my muscles!"
They all tried moving around, for half an hour, and not one could make any progress, they were all slammed down against the ground every time they tried. Tien was the only one who managed to stand up, and even then, it sent him back. Every time they tried, they were sent back, causing loud thumping noises.
"Okay Bubbles! Go and ca-...Bubbles? Where'd he g-."
"Thump!"
There was a short man, with bright blue skin, and black antennas on his head, two blue whiskers, and sunglasses on his face. The man donned a hanfu styled outfit that was black, yellow outlined, and had a large Kanji symbol in the middle with a white background, as well as a red undershirt.
He was startled by the thumping noises on his planet, which made him curious, his planet wasn't very large, probably about somewhere between five to ten miles in diameter, so the sound easily echoed. Not to mention his pet monkey had disappeared, so clearly something was going on.
The man decided to investigate, to his surprise, there were four individuals, he wasn't expecting any visitors, at least that's what he thought. He adjusted his sunglasses and walked up to greet them, also noticing Bubbles on top of his car.
"Hiya!" He shouted, the four fighters directed their attention to the man. "So I don't s'ppose, you all have a reason for being here, do ya?" No response, they were still struggling to get up. "No?"
Finally, Tien sat up. "N-No..We came here to train sir."
"Train? Well, a lot that is gonna do when you can barely even move." He said, laughing after. "I'll come back when you four are able to at least stand." He started to walk off.
"W-Wait n-no!" Tien shouted. It was too late, and then he fell back. Tien sighed and grumbled. "Uh…Now what?"
The others didn't respond, they had nothing to respond with. It was like they were all glued to the ground. After a couple more hours of struggling, they decided to take a break for now, none of them weren't getting anywhere.
The man had come back. "Huh." He said. "You're all still here?"
"Kinda can't move…so yeah." Yamcha replied.
"Hm." The man rubbed his chin. He grabbed a chair, and sat down in front of them. "Okay. How about this, you all tell me a joke, if you tell a good one, you pass. If you pass, I'll take you to my house where I'll make it so that the gravity is adjusted to your home planet's gravity."
"A joke?" Krillin said. "What does that have to do with Martial arts?"
"Oh." The man spoke, he looked a bit surprised. "You wanted Martial Arts training?" The others nodded. "Well…tell a joke anyways, and then we can get started on your Martial Arts."
Which each fighter did, and to put it lightly, it wasn't pretty, most of the jokes were terrible yet the man that stood before them laughed at them anyways. At least it worked, that's all that mattered, they needed to get their training started.
"So you're the North Kai, I assume?" Tien asked.
The Kai nodded. "Yup, though most people just call me King Kai." He answered. "The reason none of ya can get up is because this planet is ten times stronger than your Earthling planet."
The group widened their eyes. "T-Ten Times!?" Tien gasped.
"Yup. So your first matter of training is to get used to the gravity here." King Kai declared. "And you might wanna take off those weighted clothes of yours."
"Get used to it? I don't even know if that'll be possible!" Krillin replied. "I can barely move at all."
King Kai shrugged. "Dunno what to tell you about that. If you wanna beat those pesky Saiyans, you might wanna try and master this gravity. Their homeplanet is ten times as well." He walked off once more before the others could even ask more questions. Apparently he knew about the Saiyans! He could know more, maybe enough that would help them defeat the Saiyans!
Alas though, they had to wait, and if they wanted to find out, obviously they needed to earn it. Anyone with eyes could see what the Kai was doing, so the four started working on moving once more.
They spent the next three days doing this, and after three days, moving around became possible, not easy but possible. After three days, the Kai had returned, looking surprised, though no one could tell behind his glasses.
He walked up to them, clapping to them, and the four turned their heads to King Kai. "Good Job! Good Job, everyone!" He cheered. "You started to move in a matter of three days, very impressive considering you're all Earthlings."
"Barely!" Krillin pointed out. "I can't even stay up for that long!"
King Kai shrugged. "Well you could try taking off your weighted clothing by now." He said sarcastically.
Right! How could he've forgotten, Krillin slapped his forehead, he had weighted clothing on, and not just him but the others had as well forgotten. The four fighters took off their weighted clothing, and while it didn't seem like it was going to change much, it actually changed a lot more than they thought.
Now they could walk normally, and as for Tien, he could even run! Not too fast, but he could run!
King Kai smiled. "Good. Now why don't we talk over some breakfast!"
That sounded appealing, good, in fact, how were they hungry now but not before on Snake Way? Tien figured he'd ask King Kai that after, the others were too hungry to even think about questioning it.
"You mentioned the Saiyans earlier." Krillin said. He raised an eyebrow. "Do you know anything about them?"
King Kai nodded. "Of course! I'm a watcher of the North Quadron of the Galaxy! I know a lot about the Saiyans!" He answered. "And not to mention, I still take care of trouble makers, down below, if ya know what I mean!"
Well, that answered a lot of their questions, guess they don't have to ask about how King Kai knew who they were, than again Kami probably had mentioned them anyways.
"Down below? You mean Hell? There's Saiyans still down there?" Tien asked. King Kai nodded again.
"Well actually I mean Hell For Infinite Losers!" King Kai corrected.
"I thought they'd be something a little more…y'know, special?" Krillin pointed out. "From what I've heard, they purge countless planets."
"True, they do a lot of nasty things, but purging planets isn't only specifically done by the Saiyans. Besides, King Yemma gets a great use out of them!" King Kai said, laughing afterwards. "There are lots and lots of evil-doers out there aside, the Saiyans that do such horrible things, so to give them special treatment over it would be kind of a double standard."
"Since you know so much about the Saiyans, are you able to give us an idea of what they're like?" Yamcha asked.
"That information would be super helpful in our battle against the two Saiyans coming to Earth." Tien added.
"Sure!" King Kai smiled. "In fact. If you want, I could show you what they're like! I could take you down to HFIL, and you could fight them."
The group's eyes widened. "You can do that?!" Krillin gasped. King Kai nodded yet again.
"Wait, but it took us several months to get here, getting back would be a bit of a waste of time." Chiaotzu pointed out.
King Kai shook his head. "Nonono! I can take you there personally, that way when you're ready, I can take you back instantly!"
Tien dropped his jaw. "Wait. If you knew all this, why couldn't you have done that in the first place and save us all that time!" He said, his voice raising.
King Kai looked unamused. "Watch your tone when you're talking to the Great North Kai!"
Tien gulped, and sat back down. "Sorry."
"It's fine. I had a reason, as I do for all of my students who come to train with me." King Kai explained. "If you can't pass the Snake Way, then you're unworthy of coming here in the first place. Only those who can make the one million mile path, can train with the Great King Kai!" King Kai gave a smug look.
King Kai stood up from his seat. "Anyways! Before we go, how about we see how much time you'll have before the Saiyans get here!"
"You can do that?!" Yamcha said.
"Yup!" King Kai replied. "What ya think these Antennas are for display? Nah! They get all the channels!" Silence, nobody laughed, not even realizing it was a joke. "Y'know normally when someone, especially someone as great as I, makes a joke, you're supposed to laugh."
"Oh..I get it!" Krillin said, faking his laughter, as did the other four.
King Kai turned around, took a few paces forward, and then concentrated for a moment, a flash of white small light sparked a couple of times on the tips of King Kai's antennas, where he searched for the Saiyans' location.
After a short moment, it was found. He turned back around to face the four. "Okay! You have about 160 days til they get there!" King Kai replied.
The group looked shocked. "What?! That's barely 6 months! How are they arriving so fast?" Krillin gasped. "I thought we had more time than that!"
King Kai shrugged. "Well the ships they use are well known for getting to their destination much faster than predicted."
"That must be some seriously advanced technology!" Yamcha said, looking with shock and awe.
"Anyways. During that, I just had an even better idea!" King Kai announced. "But you'll have to wait and find out my idea later. For now let's go meet some of these Saiyans." King Kai motioned them to follow him, and he walked until he was on the opposite side of his planet.
In an instant, all five were transported away, down to hell, or rather hfil. The place, the area, or dimension? Or whatever it was, exactly how you'd expect it to look, it looked dangerous, eerie, like one giant prison, with giant mountainous or stone spikes, protruding outward. There were ponds of blood in various areas, with very few areas that had actual grass and trees.
The four followed King Kai down several different paths, til they reached what was apparently, the Saiyan region or rather what they've made as their own territory was at. King Yemma was fine with this, as long as they obeyed the rules and the prison guards, as well as not stirring up any trouble.
Of course, that wouldn't last long, Saiyans were known for being troublemakers, so when even most of them do what they're told, there are always some who cause trouble. Punishing all of the Saiyans however wouldn't make things better unless all of them did cause the trouble, they were all too smart for that shit.
"Typically. Either, I, myself, get sent here to take care of things, or I'll send some of my other students." King Kai stated. "But seeing as I have you four, I think this will be a good test of where your strength lies. The troublemakers right now aren't very strong in comparison to most of them, these guys are very low class, so I think if you work together, you can take them."
"What do they look like, and how would we find them?" Tien asked.
"Oh that's easy. Look for the King, make sure that if anyone asks why you're looking for him, tell him King Kai sent ya." King Kai said. Then he let a chuckle out. "And trust me, they'll be sure to treat you with respect, these Saiyans know not to mess with someone like me! After all, I'm pretty much stronger than them all. I'll come check on you guys in a few hours."
After that King Kai left, leaving the four to traverse the territory alone. It was weird, hard to sense through energies down here, it was different, you could feel their energies but it had this feeling to it, where there was no spark, one could say, they lost "the spark of life".
When the four walked in, and the prison guards let them through, instant gazes or stares were given to them. At this point it became a routine, either the Saiyans would see someone like King Kai or rather, they would see a new face, that's clearly not a Saiyan, and they knew who sent em. There were however, always a few daring to get close, I mean it wouldn't be Saiyan-like after all.
What shocked the four the most, was how strong were most of these fighters, on average, one of them could take on Tien giving him a serious fight, and Tien was still a lot stronger than the three behind him right now.
They hadn't had the time to properly train yet, so surely if these troublemakers were being of problem that even the Saiyans couldn't handle themselves, they'd be tough as nails, right? WRONG. As it turned out….
"You're the ones the North Kai has sent us?" The King spoke. This man, he looked as anyone would expected, as well as his voice had sounded, like a bruteish warrior yet regal. He had tall Spiky hair that was dark brown, as well as a thick goatee, and donned battle-armor with a royal symbol on it, as well as a cape.
The four nodded in response to the King's question.
"You must be new, you don't look exactly powerful or trained by the Kai yet." The King explained. "But power is not needed here, as you may know, my people are much beyond your own strength, so you might be wondering why would I not send one of my own subjects to take care of the problem?" The King got from his throne, shrugging. "The answer is simple. If the North Kai is willing to send forces to do the problem, why should I bother sending my own?"
The King stepped to the side, picked up a piece of parchment paper that was on a small square table to his side. He walked forward to Tien, and handed him the Paper.
"These are the troublemakers that are causing the ruckus." The King said. "They're trying to rebel, in hopes of breaking free of this prison. I hope you can show them their place. Take them down."
There were two of them, one looked scrawny and frail, with a few missing teeth, nearly bald as well. The other looked the total opposite, slightly overweight, yet bulky, full of hair, and both wore basic battle-armors.
"Do an excellent job, and perhaps I can show you what my people are capable of, so that you may win your fight in the living realm." The King said, as he sat back down in his throne. The four looked surprised.
"How did-." Tien replied.
"I have ears and eyes everywhere, I know and see all who come near my territory." The King interrupted.
Wondering why he'd be fine with them killing some of their own, it was questionable, but then again, they had not known anything about the Dragon Balls, so of course they wouldn't ask for return to life. From what they knew, Saiyans were ruthless and cold, so it only made sense that the King especially could care less about what was left of his race.
Or perhaps there was a different reason he chose to help the four, or maybe he was just bored. Who knows? Whatever the reason may be, the Four quickly exited the throne room, and left to find the two troublemakers.
Clues to their secret hideout were given on the back of the wanted poster, or they could just wait til the two made some ruckus. Those were the two choices, however those choices, you will not know til NEXT TIME.
To be continued…
