Chapter Twelve: A Saiyan's True Potential

As Piccolo made his way to the others, he stopped, noticing a massive increase in power. "W-What the hell?!" He yelled. Piccolo looked to the direction he was coming from, the Namekian gaped in shock and terror. "This power! Who could even hold this much power?!" He clenched his fist angrily. "Those idiots! I told them to finish him, and I knew this would happen, damn it!"

In a fury, Piccolo hurried back, going at maximum speed.

With Nappa having transformed into a massive Great Ape, our heroes decided to split up around the beast, this way they could make it hard for Nappa to get a strike in, however….

A smirk formed across Nappa's face as he let a loud laugh escape him. "You worthless scum are in for it now!" Nappa bellowed. "I'll show you all what a Saiyan's true strength looks like!" Nappa eyed the four, as they all embraced themselves, picking his first opponent.

His first opponent was Tienshinhan, he aimed his left fist at Tien, who jumped from the rock he was standing on, the rock crumbled before his fist had even finish being thrown, and Tien's eyes went wide, he'd scarcely avoided that fist.

"What the hell?! Yamcha wasn't kidding! This guy's strength is crazy!" Tien thought. "I'll have to be a little mo-"

Nappa threw his other fist immediately after, coming from the right, and hitting the side of Tien who hollered in pain, as the fist caused him to go flying. However, before another fist could hit him, he stopped himself before approaching the ground, bouncing off and flying away.

Nappa tried to shoulder bash Tien, but this time Tien was prepared, his body instantaneously bulked up, and his aura became red as he gained a great amount of distance. While flying away, he fired several blasts at Nappa which create an immense amount of dust in his face. A short moment after, Tien turned the technique off.

He panted heavily, landing on another nearby rock. "NOT Good! I barely evaded his attacks, and I was even in the Kaioken state!" Tien thought worryingly. "I should get in contact with the others." Tien closed his eyes for a second, concentrating, using his energy to connect with the two others. "Can you hear me guys?"

"Loud and clear, what's up?" Yamcha asked.

Nappa threw another fist, and Tien dodged the attack, firing another energy blast at Nappa. "We need to coordinate our attacks. It's the only way to get a hit in."

"Okay, but exactly how do you wanna do that?" Chiaotzu asked.

Tien continued scarcely jumping from Nappa's attacks, barely making it away, once more he'd also had to use the Kaioken technique, but for that split second only he'd use it. Then when he was above Nappa, he fired yet another powerful energy blast.

"Like Now!" Tien shouted in his mind. Quickly, Yamcha and Chiaotzu came in, while Nappa was a bit stunned, they struck behind his head, slamming their feet into it, causing Nappa's head to go somewhat forward.

Immediately after, Tien flew under Nappa, and with his fists out forward, he hurled himself into Nappa's gut. However, it did nothing, and Nappa threw his hand at Tien, swatting him as if he were a literal fly.

Tien crashed into the ground, through several boulders.

"Tien!" Chiaotzu gasped, looking at his friend. However, Chiaotzu had no time to worry about Tien as Nappa tried to spin over, and attack him and Yamcha. The two fighters quickly gained distance from him, narrowly dodging the attack.

Yamcha and Chiaotzu both threw a couple of energy blasts at Nappa's back, but they bounced off of him, literally! Then Nappa came charging forward to the two, slamming his massive fist against the both of them, causing them to fly upwards over a couple thousand feet, before falling immediately down.

The pressure caused by the incredibly fast speeds, caused Chiaotzu to fall unconscious, but Yamcha persisted on, grabbing Chiaotzu as he stopped both of them from falling, and headed back to the ground.

Chiaotzu reawoke immediately, and shook his head to snap himself into reality, floating aside Yamcha. "Thanks." Chiaotzu said, before preparing himself to fight.

"Say Goodbye! Galick Gun!" Vegeta yelled. Vegeta threw his hands in front of himself, unleashing the energy he'd gathered at Raditz, a bright royal purple wave erupted, crashing down at Raditz, who similarly fired his purplish-pink beam against Vegeta's royal purple beam.

"Shining Friday!" Raditz yelled, throwing his right hand forward, and attaching his left hand to his right wrist. The two beams clashed and struggled, the winds were forced to rage tremendously, and the ground shook for miles.

Almost immediately, Vegeta showed an instant dominance over Raditz's beam, his beam had started to slowly push Raditz's beam, though as it took a third of his beam, it stopped, and wouldn't go any further.

"Just give up will you!" Vegeta shouted. "You're nothing! A weak and cowardly fool!" He forced more energy into the beam, causing it to push a titch further. Raditz was too focused on pushing back however, struggling to keep Vegeta's beam off.

"Looks like I bit off more than I could chew…" Raditz thought. "But…I can't stop now. I need to keep going!" With a loud bellow, he forced more energy into his beam, causing it to push back a few inches of Vegeta's beam.

Vegeta's eyes scowled furiously. "Damn bastard! Why won't you just give up!" He muttered. "This shouldn't even be possible!" He sent another burst of energy into his blast, causing it to push forward a couple of inches.

"Damn it! I can't win! I knew I shouldn't have challenged Vegeta!" Raditz cursed himself under his breath. "Why did I even bother!" Still, Raditz continued to persist. "Well…I've already gone this far, I might as well give it all I got." Raditz let loose a powerful roar, exerting more energy into the blast, causing Vegeta's energy to stop pushing yet again.

Vegeta growled furiously. "This is ridiculous! I must be having some kind of nightmare!" He said. "There is no way that this trash is actually putting up a fight! I refuse to believe! It is not even thinkable!" Vegeta bellowed once more, and his blast began to consume Raditz's blast, bit by bit, it would gulp more and more.

"Damn it…I…I can't win!" Raditz flinched.

"That's right! I am the Super Elite! Not you! Perish with the rest of this planet!" Vegeta cackled. "I will send every last one of you to hell!"

However, to Raditz's shock, another fighter had stood beside him, gathering energy of his own. "Ka…me….ha…me!" Goku shouted, a blue energy sphere formed in between his hands as he pulled it to his waist.

Raditz looked shocked. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Kakarot!" He yelled.

"Giving you a hand." Goku grinned. "HAA!" He shoved his hands forward, the blue sphere turning into a wave of energy that merged with Raditz's beam, and pushed back against Vegeta's beam til it was even.

This was strange…Raditz wasn't sure whether to be pissed that Goku had interfered, glad that he saved his life, or mad that he saved his life as if he were some child.

"C'mon Raditz, together now!" Goku shouted.

Raditz shook his head, there was no time to think about this, he knew he'd never be strong enough to beat Vegeta, especially alone, it was bound to happen at one point, so Raditz focused to his energy, and simultaneously with Goku both let a powerful roar, unleashing their energy to its fullest extent.

Vegeta became slightly stunned. "W-What!?" He gasped. His blast was quickly overwhelmed, consumed by the now merged magenta beam. "So more scum dares to interfere! I will now let you wi-." He paused, his eyes going wide at the side of the merged beam nearing super close to him, before he knew it, the blast too had consumed him, taking him high in the sky.

Now panting heavily, Raditz stumbled a bit, before deciding to drop and sit down. He knew it wasn't over, but still, he'd manage to give Vegeta a good beating in the meantime.

"Man that was tough, are you okay, Raditz?" Goku asked, turning to his brother.

Raditz nodded, still processing his thoughts. "Yeah…I think so."

Gohan came over, with a cheerful smile. "You guys did it!" He said, joyfully as he landed on the same rock formation.

Raditz shook his head. "No, not yet." He stood up, before flinching from pain in his left shoulder. "Vegeta's a lot stronger than that, he can survive much more, if anything this is just the beginning."

Goku moved his gaze to Raditz. "Ya think so?" He asked curiously.

Raditz nodded. "Definitely. I can still feel his energy."

"But you can still win right? I mean you've been putting up a really good fight against him." Gohan frowned.

Raditz raised his shoulders. "Maybe…" He said.

After getting back up, Tien could feel pain all over his body, particularly his right knee. "Damn it." He groaned. "That attack hit me more than I thought it would." He looked to the battlefield, watching the other three as they tried to narrowly evade Nappa's attacks.

Then Piccolo had come up from behind him, Tien looked surprised. "Is that him?" Piccolo asked. Tien nodded. "I knew I should've taken care of him myself! Now we got this to deal with."

"You can be mad at us later, how about lending a hand?" Tien asked.

Piccolo grumbled then sighed. "Fine." He answered. "Do you have any plans?"

Tien nodded. "Yeah, We're trying to get an opening to cut his tail, he was able to transform by looking at the Moon." He explained. "If we can cut his tail off, then he should revert back to normal."

"Alright then, let's not waste time!" Piccolo flared his aura, and flew to the field, with Tien following shortly after.

"So the Namek has decided to rejoin us?!" Nappa roared. "Good! Now I can assure all of your demise!"

"We'll see about that!" Piccolo shouted, flying under his chin, Piccolo slammed his feet as he went into his chin, causing Nappa's head to go up. "Now!"

Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Krillin all at once threw themselves at Nappa, slamming their feet into his gut, with their combined power it caused Nappa to cough harshly. Then Krillin quickly distanced himself, creating an energy disk with his finger as he rotated it around above him.

"Destructo Disk!" Krillin yelled. He threw the disk aimed at Nappa's tail, however it missed, as Nappa used his tail to strike Yamcha. Yamcha plummeted into the ground, crashing harshly on it as a crater formed, one of his ribs fracturing. "Oh no! Yamcha!"

Nappa turned around, and threw his fist at Krillin who had barely seen it coming. "I saw that! You're trying to cut my tail!" He shouted. "Well, too bad for you!" After his fist had narrowly missed, Nappa unleashed an energy blast from his mouth, Krillin embraced to block it, fortunately for him Chiaotzu stopped the blast with his psychic powers.

Nappa turned around, surprised, and irritated. "So the small one has telekinesis?" Nappa said. He threw another fist, this time aimed at Chiaotzu. Chiaotzu reacted quickly, using his telekinesis once more to stop the fist, however it only slowed.

"C'mon!" Chiaotzu thought. He tried to stop it but it wouldn't. Instead, Chiaotzu tried to push Nappa's fist back, barely moving, giving Chiaotzu enough room to fly up and avoid the attack. However, as for the next hit, it successfully landed on him, causing Chiaotzu to plummet and become unconscious.

With his ki signature producing zero, the others feared the worst. "Chiaotzu!" Tien screamed. He clenched his fists, turned to Nappa, and unleashed a powerful red aura. "Kaioken!" He rushed behind Nappa, and fired a penetrating blast through the back of Nappa's knees.

Nappa hollered in pain beastly, dropping to his other knee. "Y-You! You son of a bitch!" Nappa screamed, he tried to turn to Tien, and throw his fist, by then Tien had already gone to the top of his snout, slamming his feet down on it.

Then Tien pulled his hand back, trying to fire an energy wave, but Nappa's fist came rocketing through, slamming Tien's entire body, and causing him to plummet. Between the enormous strain from the Kaioken and Nappa's strength, it caused Tien to cough blood out before he passed out.

"You're not getting out that easily!" Nappa shouted. He lifted his foot, aiming to stop on Tien, but Yamcha shot a powerful energy blast into his right eye, causing Nappa to stumble backwards, covering his eye with his hand. Nappa once again bellowed painfully, and looked angrily, now his eyesight was covered in half.

"You forget! You're a big target now!" Piccolo yelled. "Which makes it easier to do…this!" Piccolo came from behind, unleashing a violent energy beam that drilled its way into left shoulder. Nappa squeezed his fists, trying to ignore the pain, but it was too much, causing him to scream.

Without another second to spare, Yamcha flew high into the sky, while Nappa's eyes were pointed towards the sun, and Yamcha put his hands to his forehead, spreading them.

"Solar Flare!" Yamcha shouted. A bright white light emitted around them for a couple of miles, Piccolo and Krillin shielded themselves immediately, but Nappa was blinded.

"Aargh!" Nappa screamed. He tried to stand but was wobbly. "What the hell did you do! I can't see! I CAN'T SEE!"

"Now Krillin! And make it big!" Yamcha shouted.

"Right!" Krillin shouted. The two fighters distanced themselves from Nappa, Yamcha grabbed Tien out of the way, narrowly avoiding the random attacks, and blasts Nappa was throwing. Krillin raised his finger, drawing a massive circle until it formed a disk. "I might as well go all out with this."

Krillin closed his eyes, and focused, looking for that small shimmering red light, then a burst of energy surrounded him. "Kaioken!" He yelled. Krillin pulled his hand back, and aimed, then he launched his disk at an incredibly fast speed, slicing right through Nappa's tail.

Every bone in Nappa's body urged him to freeze as he slowly began to turn back into his normal self.

Breaking free from the blast that took him several thousand feet into the air, Vegeta panted heavily, growling furiously at what he experienced, as he watched it disappear further out of Earth's atmosphere.

"I can't believe it! Those two's combined blast was stronger than my Galick Gun!" Vegeta yelled. "How the hell is that even possible! Just a year ago, Raditz was weaker than a Saibamen, and now he can stand toe-to-toe with me!? This is absurd!"

Vegeta clenched his fists, and gritted his teeth. He looked at his now heavily damaged armor and tattered jumpsuit. "Fine! They wanna play that game, then I'll make them pay, I'll just transf-" He paused, noticing a blast that had escaped the atmosphere of Earth. "What?! They're trying to destroy the moon?!" Vegeta gathered some energy and threw it at that one. "Not on my watch!"

However, because the blast itself was so much further away than Vegeta realized, his blast didn't make it in time, and the moon erupted before being blown into tiny bits. Vegeta growled angrily, but then regained his composure.

"Fine. I don't need the moon." Vegeta said, he began lowering himself down. "I don't know why that fool Raditz didn't remember we can transform without it."

"W-What were you doing up there Piccolo?" Yamcha asked.

"Getting some insurance, thought if this guy could transform from the moon, then the other one could as well." Piccolo answered. "Actually, now that I think about it, It would've been easier to have destroyed the moon in the first place."

Yamcha let a short chuckle out. "Yeeeaah…That would've saved us a lot of trouble."

The two lowered themselves to near where Nappa had been on his knees, regrouping with Krillin as well.

"Great Job, Krillin!" Yamcha cheered. He gave his friend a pat on the back. "That was a nice technique!"

Krillin rubbed the back of his head. "Oh..really? Thanks I guess." He smiled. He then looked to Nappa, who was in a state of shock. "So what should we do with him now?"

"Whatever you want." Piccolo said. "This time, be more careful with him."

"Are you sure?" Krillin asked. Piccolo shrugged. "Then I guess we'll just lock him up…but first.." He pulled out yet another Senzu Bean, the last one, walking to Yamcha. "Give this to Tien, he'll need it."

"How…." Nappa said. This same thing repeated in his mind, again and again. "They…They cut my tail! How did they cut my tail! I am one of the most elite warriors! And they cut my tail! MY TAIL!" Nappa whipped his head to the three, and glared angrily at them. "They will pay! THEY WILL PAY!" Ignoring any pain he felt in shoulder or his knee, he rushed to Yamcha, trying to shoulder bash him.

Yamcha stepped to the side, dodging Nappa's attack with ease, then attempted to elbow Nappa, but Nappa evaded, reappearing above Yamcha before slamming on him. The bean slipped out of Yamcha's hand, shooting in the air, Nappa smirked, taking the bean as he put it in his mouth.

Piccolo's eyes went wide, he fired a blast instinctively. "No!"

However, when the dust settled, Nappa was revealed to be unscathed, cracking his knuckles. "I told you weaklings! I am a Saiyan!" Nappa shouted. "Nothing can stop me!" He rushed to Piccolo, ramming his fist into Piccolo's gut.

Now on yet another rock formation, although much lower to the ground but equal height to Raditz's, Vegeta placed his feet down and formed a smirk on his face. Immediately, Gohan and Goku got out of the way, and to a safer distance.

"So you thought you could stop me by destroying the moon?" Vegeta said. The prince cackled shortly.

"Destroying the moon?" Raditz looked confused. "Vegeta, I've done no such thing. You think I'd be stupid enough to do that?"

"Well it's gone, I saw an energy blast destroy it right in front of me!" Vegeta replied. "If you didn't destroy it then who did?!" Vegeta looked at Goku. "Was it you Kakarot?!"

"Me?" Goku said. "Why would I destroy the Moon?"

"Don't play naive, you know exactly why!" Vegeta shouted. "The moon is the secret to unlocking a Saiyan's true potential! Of course you destroyed it!"

Goku blinked, completely looking puzzled. "I haven't the slightest clue what you're going on about!" Goku said. "I would never destroy the moon, there'd be no reason to! Why would I do that!"

Raditz turned to Goku with surprise. "You can't be serious Kakarot. You don't know?" Raditz asked.

Goku gazed at Raditz innocently. "I swear! I have no idea what you guys are talking about!"

"Then I guess it's time we show you." Raditz turned back to Vegeta. "Go on, Vegeta! Create an artificial moon."

Vegeta chuckled with a wide grin. "Very well, I will grant you your death wish." Vegeta said. Vegeta closed his fist tightly, gathering white ki into it, then opened his hand up, a white orb appeared floating above his hand. He threw it into the sky, and opened his hand wider. "Burst Open and Mix!"

"Gohan! Look away!" Raditz shouted. "Don't look at the white orb!"

Gohan looked confused. "W-Why?"

"Just do it!" Raditz said.

Gohan gulped and nodded, not knowing why his Uncle wanted him to do so, but he did it. Like his father he was as confused as this whole moon crap, why would anyone want to destroy the moon, is what he'd wondered.

The questions were quickly answered, as both Raditz and Vegeta began to transform, their muscles bulking, blood raging, fur growing, their heights drastically increasing, slowly as they turned into a massive Great Ape.

As they grew, Goku and Gohan distanced themselves even further, Goku was stunned and only further confused, Gohan on the other hand was astonished, it amazed him that such a thing could exist, but then again shooting energy blasts would've amazed him if not for the way Raditz had trained him.

"T-They transformed?!" Goku gasped, pointing out the obvious. "Into Great Apes?! How is that-.." Suddenly it donned on him….

((Flashback))

"Goku, you've never noticed anything weird at night with Gohan, have you?" Krillin asked.

"Weird?" Goku tilted his head. "Like how?"

"You know…like when he looks at a full moon or somethin?" Bulma chimed in with a nervous look.

((Flashback End))

Goku's jaw dropped. "Th-The giant monster Grandpa warned me about…was me?!" Goku couldn't believe his eyes as he saw the two apes duke it out, trying not to get in the crossfire. "The stadium at the world tournament, the walls at that Pilaf guy's castle! It was all me!? Why didn't anyone tell me? All these years? Master Roshi, Krillin, and the others, they…they must've known, and they saw me transform into this…thing? "

Then something else donned on him. "Then that means…I'm the one who crushed Grandpa…I'm..I'm sorry Grandpa, I'm gonna make it up to you, I want to, I will." Goku didn't know what or how, but he wanted a chance to try, he knew the gap in Vegeta and Raditz's powers, but had hoped that Raditz could at least hold out and stop him. In the event that doesn't happen, Goku would try to stop him, and that would be his opportunity.
