Geraint/Angharad, a scene that didn't make it into Daughter of the Sea, officially double-drabbled. :)
Pillow Talk
"Why do you frown when I mention his name?"
"Whose?"
"Gwydion's."
"Do I?"
"Every time."
He huffed sheepishly. "I suppose it's…because the first time you said it in my presence, you blushed."
She looked thoughtful, smiling faintly at the stars. "It was because I realized, all at once, that I wanted you to look at me the way he did. And it shocked me."
A scowl settled on his brow again. "Then he did want you."
"He does," she acknowledged, with a gentle laugh, "yet it is not he who lies beside me here. I should think you might pity him instead of envying him."
She tweaked the end of his nose and he grinned, and caught her hand. "And that is what baffles me. Why me and not—,"
"Not him," she sighed, her eyes dimming. "I never wanted him. He is too serious, too careworn, too much…" she shook her head, "…like me."
"That is not who you are."
"No," she whispered, "it is the mask I have always worn. Until you came and took it off."
His gaze wandered appreciatively. "Among other things."
He bent his lips to her throat, and drank the taste of her laugh.
