The curse that flew right by.

Just as he hit the ground

They lowered a tow that stuck in his neck to the gills

Fragments of sobriquet,

Riddle me this:

Three half eaten corneas

Who hid the aureole

Stalk the ground

Stalk the ground

You should have seen

The curse that flew right by you

Page of concrete

Stain walks crutch and hobbled sway

Auto de fe

A capillary hint of red

Only this manupod

Crescent in shape has escaped

The house half the way

Fell empty with teeth that split both his lips

Mark these words:

One day this chalk outline will circle this city

Was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face?

A room coloured charlatan hid in a safe

Stalk the ground

Stalk the ground– "Televators" The Mars Volta

Military Hospital near Area 51. Four days after the attack on M.E.C.H. camp - Monday.

The man laid on his front, his back being tended to by a nurse. The elderly woman was applying some substance tothe red and blistered skin, probably to ease up the pain and tenderness of burned tissue.

The man himself looked more than fine, except for his burned back. He was tall, with wide shoulders and narrow waist, his hair black and short. He had steel grey eyes and a square jaw. One could tell that he was a soldier.

Fowler looked into a yellow folder and then glanced at the man through the window in the single door guarded by two armed MP's. Then he looked back at the two other men that stood next to him. One was a doctor and the other was a general.

"Sir. This here is Lt. Col. Sidney Weaver." Fowler addressed the general. "In active duty since…"

"I know, Bill, I know the bastard personally!" General Brice's jaw clenched. "He served in the previous unit I commanded!" The general sighed to calm himself. "How long was he cooperating with M.E.C.H.?"

"Probably since it was assembled." Fowler turned a few pages in his folder. "He and Silas were good pals and knew each other for a long time. I would have to ask him to know for sure, but I'm willing to guess that when Silas started the thing our good old 'Ripley' was the first to join." Fowler closed his folder. "It's funny how he picked his code name."

"Sure, like Sigourney Weaver in 'Alien'." 1] Brice growled. "How many jokers like him are in our ranks?"

"If we will be able to coax him into heart to heart, we should learn pretty fast." Fowler shrugged. "And we shouldn't have much problem with that. There's enough dirt hanging above his head to make him nice and chatty if there will be chance of a deal."

"Good. Do what you have to. If he can give us his pals from M.E.C.H. then you have my authorisation to promise him whatever you like."

"Yes sir. We'll see what we'll get. This guy already demanded a lawyer. And we didn't even accuse him of anything yet." Fowler shook his head in disbelief. "Speaking of which, doctor, how long until we can accuse him of anything?"

The doctor smiled tired smile of someone who spent last two days on his feet. He was fairly young, but already saw enough to give him the eyes of an old man. Under his white coat he wore dark blue scrubs with a dog tag's ball chain visible.

"Few more days and he's yours. I will release him this Friday and not a day before that."

"I can live with that." Fowler wasn't too happy about the doctor's statement, but there was no discussion about that. He was glad that the good doctor wasn't about to keep the M.E.C.H. agent in for any longer than that. He knew that it was an express release as it was.

Random tropical island. Pacific Ocean. Three days later – Wednesday.

Miko sat quietly on Bumblebee's shoulder and allowed the wind to comb her bangs as she admired magnificent view of some paradise island on Pacific Ocean. The sky was impossibly blue, the water was grey and wavy, the leaves of the tropical plants were dark green and there was no sign of human activity.

Bumblebee was glad to have this quiet moment with Miko. They rarely had occasion to truly be alone. In the Base there were always others. And Bulkhead usually lurked somewhere close, still having hard time to accept the situation.

This was their time just for each other. Miko loved to hang out with Bulkhead and Bumblebee was always ready to play with Raf. Bulkhead and Bumblebee liked to go on patrols together, though lately it was a bit awkward. Miko always played video games with Raf. But now it was their time to just spend it with each other. One could call it a date, if not for the fact that dates are usually planned and this was a spontaneous trip with the Groundbridge.

Miko was about to ask if Bumblebee would mind if she swam in the ocean for a bit. She wouldn't go very deep in the ocean, just far enough to be able to swim a little. She opened her mouth to ask when 'Bee's comm link chimed.

"Oh! There goes our trip to paradise." She moaned.

Bumblebee didn't respond as he answered the call. Then he beeped and whirred in a disappointed tone and ended the conversation. Before he could say anything to Miko the Groundbridge activated for them to return.

"What a bunch of spoilsports." Miko groaned angrily while her mobile phone buzzed as it received a text message.

[It's just Smokescreen, he needs to go on a patrol.] Bumblebee wrote.

"Yeah, I know. No single patrolling with M.E.C.H. on the loose." Miko crossed her arms. "But isn't there anyone else to go with him? I mean we haven't been here even for ten minutes."

Her phone buzzed again.

[Nope. Optimus is with 'Jakie in Texas, Arcee and Bulk are in Australia and Ratchet needs to stay and operate the 'Bridge. Smokescreen and I will go to the Canada. Ratchet will bridge you to your place, it is late back home.]

"Awww!" Miko whined after reading 'Bee's message. "And I hoped for some one on one with you."

[Later, that's a promise, babe U3U] The message said. Miko wanted to say something but they arrived to the hangar to see Ratchet ready to strangle Smokescreen, who in turn was chatting away about F1 racing.

Miko stiffed a laugh. Ratchet seemed like he could use some peace and quiet himself. Maybe he should go to that tropical island, but with M.E.C.H. out there he would have to take someone with him.

"Yo, Ratchet!" She hollered. "You look like you could use some peace and quiet!" She allowed Bumblebee to put her back on the floor. "That island you just dragged us from? It's perfect for what you need. Maybe you should go there when you'll have someone to watch your back!"

Ratchet glared at her for a moment ready to say something sarcastic but then he realized that it wasn't such a bad idea. "You know what, I just might."

That rendered everyone mute for a second. It was such a rare occasion to see Ratchet agreeing with Miko that it actually would be an excuse to throw a celebration.

"Finally!" Smokescreen laughed. "Not to question your input into the team, Ratchet, but you could really, really use some free time."

"Yeah. Every time we see you, you're working. Or recharging." Bumblebee nodded.

"Whatever." The Doctor pulled a lever and the Groundbridge opened. "Off you go!"

"Promise you'll go to that island!" Smokescreen followed Bumblebee who was already stepping into the vortex.

"Yeah, when Optimus and Wheeljack return." Ratchet only waved his servo at the two mechs. "I'll take Wheeljack as a backup and go there."

Smokescreen didn't respond as he was vanishing behind the event horizon.

"'Jakie? I though you wanted some quiet." Miko grinned. "Shouldn't you take Optimus?"

"And leave Wheeljack in here?" Ratchet's optics grew round. "Do you know what might happen if I'll leave that Wrecker alone with my tools?"

"Hmm, good point." The girl giggled. Wheeljack as an engineer had a knack for building and fixing stuff, but lately he was mostly into explosives; a bit too much into them actually.

Small military base, East of Area 51.

Megatron sat quietly on the couch that he and June enjoyed not so long ago and somehow managed to look like he belonged there. The size shifting sequence was much less unpleasant this time. It was still a nasty procedure but without the pain it was easier to bear. He found himself pondering about how less troublesome it would be if Shockwave managed to perfect his device. Of course the scientist was working on that, but it wasn't a priority project so the development was slow.

June finally emerged from the bathroom, dressed in her usual scrubs, and sat next to the Decepticon. Megatron would be happy to simply rip the green clothes from her form, but it was out of question at the moment. Firstly, this time her son was home, sulking in his room about the fact that Megatron dared to not only see his mother but also be intimate with her. The young man growled something upon spotting Megatron and then retreated to his place but he could come out from there at any time. Megatron couldn't care less if someone would see him and June. But June minded as she was the young man's mother. Megatron respected that, he imagined that his own carrier and sire would mind if he ever walked on them. Luckily he never did.

The second reason was that June would soon leave for her work and Megatron was one unhappy mech about that. He understood that she had her duties, but he hoped for some more time with his little organic femme.

"You can stay if you like." June said pulling her hair together to tie it with her light yellow band. "I will be back in the morning."

"Tempting as it would be to just wait for you and jump you the moment you'll return, I believe that you will be tired and wishing for rest." He murmured. "An extremely aroused mech will be the last thing on your mind." He added and leaned closer.

"You're probably right." June smiled and felt Megatron kissing her. Softly at first but deepening the kiss until it became passionate. There was warm air blowing through Megatron's head vents that reminded June of some raging bull but then the mech gently broke the kiss.

"Enough." He huffed. "I fear that if it would last any longer I wouldn't be able, or willing, to stop."

"I wouldn't blame you." She answered and took few deep breaths to calm herself down. "I really need to go, otherwise I'll be late."

"I will depart as well." Megatron slowly rose from the couch. "Jack would probably like to re-claim the house." The Warmonger smiled.

"He needs to get accustomed to your presence." June stated pulling on her sweater.

"I believe that he needs more time." Megatron looked at the direction of Jack's room. "You know, it may be hard for him to see me as something else than an enemy. The fact that I am a Decepticon and fight Autobots will make it even harder."

"You have a truce." June reminded.

"Yes, we do. But for how long?" Megatron suddenly became very serious. "I realize that at some point this war must end, but did we reach that stage already or will it take more time? Neither Optimus nor I will just give up and surrender." He watched June for a second before he reached and gently stroked her cheek with his talons. "Do not worry June, I consider you to be outside of this conflict."

"Then you will have to remove that tracker from my phone." The woman smiled weakly. "I can't have it active and visit Autobots."

"It is not active at the moment. Soundwave only used it to find you that one time." Megatron said seriously. "Besides that, how will I find you without it?"

"Simple, silly. You can call me, and if you'll give me your frequency I will be call you too." June smiled widely. "We will be able to contact each other directly. At any time."

Megatron blinked once and then smirked. "Agreed. You may remove the tracker. But I must warn you, watch for what you're wishing for. I may call you whenever I will think about you. And I think about you often."

"That was so romantic." She laughed and activated her phone's blue tooth for Megatron to access her phone's antennae parameters. "You have it?"

"Yes." Megatron saved the unique frequency of June's phone and immediately used them to initiate connection.

June quickly snapped photo of Megatron and saved it along with frequency he used. Ratchet had special program installed on their mobile phones to be able to connect to Cybertronian comm lines, all they neede was the right frequency saved and they could call each other. The comm didn't allow any text message exchange, but voice connections were easy.

"I will see you soon." Megatron smiled and reached for his comm link. "Soundwave, send me a Groundbridge."

After a moment the mech was gone and June turned to go to the garage.

"Jack, I'm leaving, be back in the morning." She called and received illegitimate answer.

M.E.C.H. new base. Location unknown.

Silia observed her men hurry around. They were preparing for a few days now. Luckily she had a couple of her cannons already in production even before, so they were ready for use. Her new Second in Command, Moriarty, walked silently to her and took his place at her side.

"Anything to report" She asked not looking at him.

"The energon power cells for your cannons are ready. Hercules said that it was easier than he thought thanks to the notes your father's scientists left." The man said. "We have everything prepared…"

"But?" Silia glanced at Moriarty. He was a definitely older man, not very old, but older than her father was. She could imagine him being grey even though he looked better than many young men. He was very calm and composed. She never heard him raise his voice, or see him run. He always walked with a brisk pace and always reached his aim in time, as if he simply teleported there.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked. There was no uncertainty in his voice, the man was just concerned. "I understand that you wish to avenge your father and that you are angry at them. But is this the optimal course of action?"

"I am and it is." She answered without anger. "We need to attack now; they won't expect us to move this early. And no matter how much of new technology we may develop, we need more to proceed with our plans. What we won't commandeer we need to destroy so it wouldn't serve our enemies."

"I see." Moriarty nodded once. "And I understand. This leaves me with little more than to report that we are battle ready."

"Thank you, Moriarty." Silia took deep breath. "Call everything for a meeting. We will plan ourselves a battle."
