Awakening
Izuku was laying there, motionless on the cold, hard concrete ground as he finally opened his eyes for the first time in what seemed like forever. The stars were out, shining bright against the pitch-black sky, as he looked around he could make out the shapes of fire escapes above him. Verifying that the boy was indeed most likely in an alley of some sort.
He didn't know how he had gotten there, everything felt fuzzy when he tried to remember what had happened. All he remembers is falling and then he woke up in an alley. He looked around to see where his stuff was and realized that nothing was there, his bag was gone, his phone was still in his pocket as well as his wallet. He went to open his phone and that's when he noticed, it was all busted up. 'Was I robbed? Beat up by Bakugo again? No, they never stole from me before, and besides, why would I still have my wallet.'
The boy snapped back to the issue at hand 'I need to figure out where I am first, then I'll get more answers I'm sure.' He sluggishly got up and felt the burn all over his body, as if his muscles were inflamed after an insane full-body workout. He pushed past the pain in order to make his way to the street and out of the alley,
One he reached the street he looked around and he started to panic 'I have no clue where I am at all!' He screamed internally.
He looked up and down the busy district and approached a group of people standing around seemingly waiting for a cab. The boy tried his best to compose himself but still came across as a nervous wreck.
"E-excuse me." the boy said as he gently tapped a girl's shoulder to get her attention. One of the guys in the group she was with took notice and turned around, with a seemingly mad look on his face.
"Whatchu want you lil punk, you really trying to hit on my girl right in front of me." the shorter man said while squinting his eyes at the younger boy. The girl rolled her eyes ignoring the outburst and continued talking to her friends.
"N-no sir, I-i was just w-wondering how to get to Musutafu from here?" Izuku squeaked out quickly.
"Musutafu? Where the fuck is that? We came to Kamino for a reason. Now get lost brat." The guy said, pushing the kid to the side. Izuku stumbled and fell backwards earning a few chuckles from the others in the group. Soon the uber they had been waiting on pulled up and the group left the boy sitting there on the sidewalk.
'Kamino!? That's almost an hour from home assuming there's traffic.' Izuku thought as he picked himself up and dragged his aching body in the direction of the nearest train station to start his long journey home.
He had learned quite a few things on his ride over, first off he needed new clothes as the ones he was wearing were tattered and stained, because of this the boy was receiving less than favourable looks from his fellow riders. Secondly, apparently the boy had disappeared for well over two weeks meaning there was only about a week until the U.A. exams! 'How have I been gone for that long? I swear there was still a month until the exams.' The boy internally freaked out.
Not long after the boy finally managed to calm down 'I suppose that doesn't matter though too much.' The boy thought as he remembered how ahead of everyone else he was, 'Still I would've liked more time to work on my form for boxing' The boy thought clenching his fist, inadvertently flexing his forearm. 'That's weird, they feel-bigger? No that's not it, it feels like I have more energy than I did, but that's still not quite it either.' Eventually, his mind wandered from topic to topic and as he neared his home he began to wonder what the foster care said about his absence.
The boy made his way to his temporary home and as soon as the boy walked past the alley next to the foster care building he saw something vaguely familiar. A book bag, in the alley, just sitting there. That wasn't all, however, a sports bag was sitting there as well. 'Wait a minute, those are my bags!' the boy thought as he frantically made his way to them and to search for anything else of his that might be out there.
He found nothing else in his futile search and returned his focus to the bags as he slowly but surely proceeded to search through them. He found random stuff in his bags, not surprisingly he found nothing of value 'the other kids probably ransacked my stuff.' He had some clothes, the fifth edition of his Hero Analysis for the Future series which was filled with outdated info, now its only purpose is serving as a reminder of the boy's goal to be a hero. His textbooks gone; what little workout gear he had, gone; his extra blank notebooks, once again gone
The boy searched through the clothes until he was able to find a light coat and some sweatpants that he owned. He would need these especially now due to how cold it gets at night. He looked back up at the building only to feel contempt and hate for the place he once called home. 'I'm done with this place, I vow right here and right now to never return.' The boy silently decreed to himself with a small spark of determination igniting in the teen's eyes.
The boy weighed his options and after a while decided that he would go in search of a new home, one close to U.A. so that he could make his journey easier once he got in.
After a two-hour-long search, Izuku was running out of steam, the boy had dragged himself and his bags all over in search of somewhere he could stay that wouldn't require him to pay upfront. Sadly enough no such place existed, he knew he could always go to a homeless shelter but that's no place for a boy like him. He heard the stories the orderlies at the orphanage told, that quirkless people stand no chance at those places, they get bullied around by those with quirks, so that was never on the table. He was frustrated, he had nowhere to go, no one he could trust and not much to his name, he was just about to give up when he saw a building with the windows boarded and the door rusted shut. 'This is perfect! It's close to U.A. and I won't have rent, now just to find a way inside.'
The boy made his way around back and found a fire escape that he could reach if he climbed on top of the dumpsters. It took four gruelling tries for the boy to finally get up, he had fallen down a few times and now he just wanted to rest. Izuku brought his gaze over to the window and saw that there was a break in the window. The boy then proceeded to reach in through the hole and unlock the window and climb into it after he tossed in his bags. The room was pretty much entirely empty, not only that but the wallpaper was torn, the closet door sat ajar and the open window had caused a draft to be allowed in. 'Still better than sleeping on the streets' the boy figured.
He looked into his bag before pulling out a small snack he was able to snag at a convenience store before it closed. 'I'm going to have to make this last, I can't exclusively buy things there.' He began to tear it open the now cold snack and scarf it down. Taking a break from eating, the boy sat in thought 'I wish it was warmer, I could use the warmth right about now'.
'Do not be silly, you do not need external warmth young one, I am all the warmth you shall ever need' an older voice boomed from the inside of his head.
The boy froze, dropping his food as his eyes grew in terror. 'What the hell was that?'
'You are such a silly young master, you should take care to not drop your food' The voice boomed with a slight chuckle.
'I'm going insane, that has to be it right, people don't just hear voices like that. Maybe this is related to the lapse in time? Maybe I just hit my head?' Then the boy stopped and started to shake, looking down at his hand 'Do I have multiple personality disorder? Am I schizophrenic? Why is it calling me master then?'- The boy trailed off in thought mumbling out loud for the first time in a while, forgetting the cold for a second as he tried to rationalize as to why he was hearing this voice in his head.
The boy was interrupted by the voice once again 'Wrong again young one, you are so naive, I am a part of you.'
'Let me explain young mast-' The voice started but soon ended as Izuku yelled back in response, "LEAVE ME ALONE, I CAN'T BE EVEN MORE OF A FREAK."
The voice stopped, and the boy was now on the floor with his tears streaming down his face as he tried to pass onto the world of dreams, not knowing what the coming days would bring.
Izuku woke up sweating profusely, his body feeling like it was on fire. He took off his shirt and got close to the window hoping for a draft to cool him down. He sat down next to the window and looked around his room, it just screamed empty. 'I need to get some furniture or something to fill the room with at least, I don't know how long I'm going to be here after all.'
After cooling down Izuku moved towards the door so that he could explore the building in hopes of finding something he could bring back to his room. As he made his way throughout the building he had noticed that most rooms, like the one he was staying in, were empty. Some rooms, however, had small things here and there that he could recover and bring to his room. In a room a floor below his room Izuku had found a mirror, sure it had a crack but he had no room to complain. On the very same floor, he had also located a desk which he moved into his room so that he could continue his studying and eventually continue his work in his notebooks.
His room looked a bit better now, he had a desk so that he would be able to do school work once he got into U.A. whether it was general studies or the hero course. He also had a vertical mirror that he could see himself in and use to get ready for the day, which would be useful once he started school. A few things had changed from the last time Izuku had looked himself over in the mirror, the first thing being that he was now taller, but a large margin which startled the boy the first time he looked in the mirror, he figured he was now at least 5'9 if not taller. Just by looking the boy over you couldn't tell in the slightest that he had stopped working out for a few weeks, in fact, it's almost as if he upped his workouts. The boy was now tall, still lean with some extra definition over his core and chest which confused the boy. However, Izuku had noticed something extra unordinary 'Where did these come from?' there were a few injection marks along his veins on his left arm that became sore whenever he would rub his hand over them. 'I really need to find out what happened to me and where I went for those two weeks.'
*Growl*
Izuku looked down and realized he hadn't had a proper meal since he didn't know how long. Izuku checked his wallet to see what he hoped was not so. He was broke, and the money he did have would not cover a full meal. 'Even if I was able to eat today, what about tomorrow? What am I going to do until I get to U.A.? How will I survive until then?' Suddenly the memory of walking past the corner store down the street flashed into Izuku's mind, along with a help wanted sign in the window.
Izuku scrambled to his bag, searching for the cleanest pair of clothes that he could find and throwing them on before he looked in the mirror to see if he was ready. He was dressed in a mossy green sweater that hung on his body to the point that it hid the little muscle the boy had, he was wearing black cargo pants and his iconic red shoes. He didn't know fashion very well but he did know that his shoes clashed with the rest of the look, but not so much to the point that it looked bad.
Izuku descended down the stairs until he reached the ground floor. He made his way out the back of the building making sure to close the door behind him. 'I'm going to have to find a way to secure the door so that no one else can get in, not that I think anyone else would try but I need to secure this home no matter how temporary it may be.'
Izuku made his way down the street once again keeping his head down as he got lost in thought about securing this job.
