Quark turned around and comes face to face with his mystery abductor. The green face humanoid stood higher than Quark, almost the height of Major Kira. He had on a badly worn uniform that he did not recognize, and Quark thought that maybe he could be from the gamma quadrant beyond the wormhole.
"What do you want? I am just a feeble bartender," said Quark.
"Now we both know that you are more than a bartender Quark," said the stranger. Then Quark saw the stranger body melt into a green living blob, before changing back into a humanoid form. Quark thought at first that Odo had caught him again, but when the form finish morphing it was not the station's head of security staring at him, but a Cardassian.
Quark at a lost of words finally managed to force some words out, "what are you?"
The stranger just smiles and says "My employer told me that you had made all the necessary arrangements."
"Oh," says Quark laughing, "Now I understand. Yes all is ready."
"Good." The stranger replied as he morphs his form to a Bajoran. Quarks stood in awe seeing him complete the transformation.
"One more thing little Ferengi, don't betray me."
The Promenade was filled up with Bajor's and other ambassadors from across the alpha quadrant. Commander Sisko was in his room with his son Jake putting on his formal uniform, and still struggling with what to say. He would not admit it, but he was still having problems with being the Emissary and his role with the Bajoran people. As he looked in the mirror trying to finish getting ready his son Jake look in on his father.
"Dad, mom used to like when you dress up like this."
"Jake O, I guess your mom did. Its too bad that we don't get many opportunities to dress up being on the space station."
"That's ok dad, what you are doing is crucial. We learned in Mrs. O'Brien class about the history of the prophets and the role from the ancient scrolls where the Emissary was foretold."
"I didn't know that you had such an interest in Bajor's history."
"You always said that I should learn more about their culture since we would be on this space station. Plus when some of the kids see me they looked at me as the son of the Emissary. It's a weird look I sometimes get. Its good for me to know exactly why I get those looks."
"Jake remember you are Benjamin Sisko's son first, and the son of the Emissary second."
Father and son share a hug, before Sisko leaves.
When Sisko arrived in Ops Major Kira was wearing her Bajoran Orb garments which she normally only wears during her meditation with the orb.
"Commander I just wanted to say thank you for trusting my instincts and having more Federation security here for today's ceremony "
"Major I have learned to trust you, and I agree that a strong show of force should help detour any wrong doing."
"Commander I hope you are right, but if the Cardassians are involved, it will take more than a show of force to keep them away. "
At that moment, O'Brien and Dax arrived in Ops both wore their format uniforms as well. The four of them walked onto the turbo lift and arrived on the Promenade where the pre-ceremony activities had already started. To the delight of the gathered crowd and they were met by Dr. Bashir, who joined them. Odo could be seen standing by the stage where in moments the first minister would be delivering his speech. In every sector of the promenade either station's security or Starfleet security could be seen. Quark had set up a booth outside of his bar to sell drinks to the crowd who did not want to walk to his bar in fear of missing something important.
Bajoran music was playing in the air, and dance routines were being performed that had not been seen since before the Cardassian occupation. While the Cardassians were on Bajor all religion and cultural celebrations were outlawed. Seeing the dancers performed truly meant that this was a new beginning on Bajor.
The music and dancing stop as the Emissary took to the stage to introduced the first minister. The applause by the gathered crowd upon seeing Sisko made him feel uncomfortable, but he knew this was best for Bajor. After his introduction, he steps aside as the first minister made his way to the stage. He bowed towards the crowd showing reverence to the Prophets and then begin to wave.
Away from the crowd underneath the promenade where the infrastructure of Deep Space Nine is away from curious eyes, there is a lone figure hidden away from security. His wrist is held up in front of his eyes as he watches a countdown "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0." A large explosion rips through the loading docks, and shakes the whole station. The vibrations are so strong that the station momentarily loses its orbit sending the gathered crowd into a panic frenzy. The lone stranger leaves his hiding place and walks forward with eyes on the stage and the first minister.
