Jiro here once more, welcoming y'all to Chapter 92. Now, like I mentioned at the end of the previous chapter, after this chapter, things will take a turn so that I can work on 7 pages worth of things I've forgotten and such. I hope that isn't a bother lol. Anyway, I thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy reading as much as I do writing. Thanks again, Jiro 'The Father Of Halflings' Uchiha, OTF Inc.
Krom exhaled as he looked at the doors to the Cerulean City Gym, wondering exactly what kind of mood the leaders inside would be in. He looked to Orzhov and Homika, the latter giving him a smile and a thumbs up as she put her hand on her son's back. "What time do you wanna meet up?" Krom asked, and Homika looked to the sky, remembering that her husband never carried a watch or a phone. "Meet us at the Day-Care no later than sunset. Is that enough time for you?" she asked, and Krom hummed. "If this is six on six, that's too much almost. I'm hoping they get a little peeved at me and try to call for a six on eighteen so I can use the time better." he said with a shrug. Homika grunted as she rolled her eyes.
"Sunset. Don't fucking forget it." she said, jabbing a pale finger in his direction before walking off with the Sneasel Halfling in tow. Krom smiled after them, his thoughts briefly traveling to Saria, the serene Gardevoir Halfling, and his children. Magni, the lazy, burly boy with dark green hair. Freyja, the bigger of the two girls, her heavier build closer to his than Saria's, her hair a vibrant green. Aja, the smallest child, Krom wondering if the 'shiny' aspect of her appearance counted the Zekrom in her as well, and not just the Gardevoir that was evident in her bright blue hair and golden eyes. And lastly was Nappa, the mammoth, therian born child who Krom struggled to remember having any hair at birth.
When Krom entered the Cerulean City Gym, he wasn't surprised at anything. Stands were on either side of the battlefield, the stands to Krom's left inhabited by the same camera crew from his battle with Brock. Greeeat. Now I gotta deal with that guy's voice again, huh? He thought lazily, looking to the other stands, noticing that the only people in the gym besides the camera crew seemed to be Misty's family. Krom groaned, frustrated that the family of someone he was never fond of was present, and, by their faces, in a bad mood. The battlefield was to be expected of a Water type gym. Platforms made of something Krom assumed was a lightweight material dotted the field, which was made of water. Krom glanced to the water, estimating that it had to be at least eight to twenty feet deep, something he didn't find pleasing.
So my Pokemon will be doing a lot of moving and projectile spamming. Lovely. He thought wryly, rolling his neck as he looked across the field to his opponents, the three sisters not pleased by his presence. "Morning." Krom said, tapping his forehead with his index and middle fingers before rolling and flipping his wrist. "How can you manage to be so casual!?" One of the sisters shouted over. Krom shrugged, looking to the camera crew in the stands. "This place is mostly water, so if it goes down, don't expect me to save you guys!" he shouted over, something that they all nodded nervously to. Krom looked back to the three sisters, eager to get the battle started, as he had other things he wanted to do today. "I got a wife and kid to get back to and six other gyms to fight. Let's get this over with." he said, watching each of the sisters pull a PokeBall from behind their backs.
A referee held his arm up, and Krom glanced to him, noticing that he seemed to be a relative to the previous referee, making Krom wonder if Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny had a relative that was a referee. "Have you all come to an agreement on the battle format?" he asked, and Krom hummed. "Well, since the Straiton Gym was a Triple Battle, and I don't happen to have enough Pokemon to match them on me, I'll settle for a Six versus Eighteen handicap match. Whether you want that to be an eighteen Pokemon gauntlet or a triple battle or whatever is up to you three." he said, and the sisters briefly talked between each other.
"We'll accept that format, as long as you accept two on three handicap battles." Daisy said, and Krom hummed, thinking about the Pokemon he had with him. "That'll work for me." he said, whistling as he pulled two PokeBalls from his belt. The man in the stands began to prepare himself, and Krom noticed that the referee was holding his arm in the air, as if waiting to start the battle until after the man went through his spiel about the 'Kanto Battle Network' and so on. Krom shrugged, not minding as long as he got to enjoy himself during the battle.
"Do Dark Halflings like to fight?" Orzhov asked as he walked north towards the Nugget Bridge. Homika hummed. "Simba mentioned something to me about that. He says that Dark Halflings all have a mean streak, since they are dark types." she noted, and Orzhov nodded, humming to himself. Homika glanced down to her son, tilting her head slightly. "Why the sudden interest?" she asked, and Orzhov blinked, waving his hands and laughing nervously as he looked back up to her. "No reason really. I just thought it was a bit weird that I could fight so good without training, especially since I was injured." he said, his hand moving to the scar on the left of his stomach. Homika seemed displeased when he mentioned the scar, grumbling and folding her arms.
"It might have something to do with your heritage and skills. How much do you know about your Mother's heritage?" she asked, and Orzhov blinked. "I don't know much really. I asked Mr. Simba about my parents, but he didn't say much, just that I shouldn't worry since my Mom was pretty strong." he explained, and Homika narrowed her eyes. Was there something Simba didn't tell him? Or was Simba merely disinterested in the child's heritage? Homika shook her head, trying not to think about it, the duo able to see the shimmering golden bridge ahead of them.
The head of the camera crew, the same man from before, this time donning a black suit with a blue tie, likely to match the fact that this was a Water type Gym, stepped to the fore, clearing his throat as the camera man gave him a thumbs up and he inhaled. "Ladies and Gentlemen of Kanto, and of the world! Welcome! This is the Kanto Battle Network, and today we have another incredible matchup for all of you!" He shouted, a certain tone his voice hit grinding at Krom's nerves simply for how fake it sounded. "First, we introduce the challenger!" he said, the camera shifting to face Krom, who repeated his earlier hand gesture.
"With an incredible undefeated record across multiple regions, he is the enigmatic Trainer who brought an end to 'The Leviathan's' own undefeated streak. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome 'The Thunderous' Krom Hitoawa!" he shouted with a feigned enthusiasm. Krom tilted his head slightly. Thunderous? Is he going to switch my nickname to something electricity themed every time? He wondered, choosing to shrug and ignore it as he looked to Misty's sisters as they were introduced, Krom humming as he planned out his strategy, since he was in a 3-on-2 handicap situation.
"And now the Gym Leaders. Their passion for battle has been ignited and stoked by the tragic passing of their youngest sister. They seek vengeance against those responsible for her death, and will stop at nothing to unleash a disrespectful wave of anger upon them. Introducing the Cerulean City Gym Leaders, Violet, Lily and Daisy, the 'Sensational Sisters'!" he shouted, and Krom rolled his jaw while thinking. Sensational Sisters? What's so sensational about them? He wondered as the referee inhaled. "Please send out your Pokemon!" he called, and Krom nodded in agreement, throwing two PokeBalls at separate platforms. This is going to be a pain in the ass. He thought, watching the balls crack open.
The energy from the PokeBall struck the nearest platform and dissipated, revealing Acheron and Cernunnos on adjacent platforms. "The challengers first Pokemon are familiar faces from his first Gym Battle! Cernunnos and Acheron, the Trevenant and Absol that he used first in his previous battle as well!" The fellow in the stands shouted, Krom making a mental note to figure out the man's name. The 'Sensational Sisters', as they were called, threw each of their PokeBalls directly at the water, Krom inhaling as Cernunnos lowered his posture slightly. The balls cracked open, each of their Pokemon taking shape and falling into the water.
"Violet starts off with her trusty Seaking!" the man shouted, the large, horned fish flipping out of the water in a dramatic fashion, making Krom wonder if their nickname came from some non-battling activity they partook in. "Lily starts off strong with her Kingdra!" he shouted, and Krom watched the massive seahorse flip out of the water, bouncing off a platform before releasing a loud cry as it fell back into the water. "And finally, Daisy leads off with her Dewgong!" he called, Krom noticing that the large seal decided to sit on a platform comfortably, the Halfling paying close attention to the half ice type Pokemon. The referee's arms came down swiftly. "Begin!" he shouted, Lily and Violet immediately screaming for their Pokemon to use Ice Beam.
"Get your bearings and then counter attack!" Krom called, both Pokemon throwing up Protect barriers as they glanced about, Cernunnos looking to the much older Acheron for guidance. Follow my lead closely. Acheron said, the tree nodding as the feline leapt into the air, launching an Ice Beam of his own at the water itself, Cernunnos able to tell that his plan was to freeze the water over for mobility. Lily's Kingdra sped through the water, leaping out at the airborne Absol. Cernunnos intercepted the attack, striking the large seahorse in the side with an Energy Ball, knocking it back into the water.
Acheron landed on a patch of frozen ice, swinging his head to sense out Violet's Seaking, which had vanished from his sight. He cursed, spinning to shout at Cernunnos. The platform the ghost tree was on shook, beginning to flip over as the large goldfish struck it from below with it's horn. Cernunnos jumped, aiming for the nearest platform as the one he leapt from flipped upside down. In midair, Daisy's Dewgong met him, flipping and swinging it's fin like tail at the tree. Cernunnos swung his right hand out, catching the tail fin and holding on tight as he crashed into the next platform, dropping the seal in front of him.
Acheron slid along the ice he froze, feeling heat ball up in his chest as he turned to Lily's Kingdra, skidding across the ice and launching a ball of fire into the sky, watching it remain as the temperature in the building began to rise. The Kingdra burst from the water, spinning and clubbing Acheron with it's tightly swirled tail, cracking the ice he stood on. Acheron rolled his head as fast as he could, his glowing fangs Crunching down on the seahorse's tail and driving him through the ice and into the water, where Acheron followed.
Cernunnos stepped back, one of his six leg like roots slipping off the edge of the platform as he avoided the broad tail of Daisy's Dewgong. "Cernunnos, be more offensive!" Krom called, and the tree nodded, launching a wild Energy Ball. The Dewgong slid back on it's stomach to avoid the attack, allowing Cernunnos to step forward and call out, his eye glowing before the platform beneath the Dewgong began to glow purple. Vines shot out of the platform, entangling the seal before Cernunnos moved forward.
Before Cernunnos could follow up on his first maneuver, Violet's Seaking shot out of the water, it's horn glowing a bright green color. Cernunnos leaned back from the attack, the leaves on his wrist's glowing and extending into scythe like blades. He swung both of the them forward in crisscrossing arcs, striking the large fish and sending it flying. The ghost tree looked back to the seal, who had broken free of the vines and launched an Ice Beam.
Suddenly, the water began to glow a bright yellow as the building shook, the platform Cernunnos was standing on flying out of the water, the Ice Beam grazing the top of his head as he began to alternate between Energy Balls and Shadow Balls, launching them wildly as he looked worriedly for the next platform, realizing that he had less than a second and a half to find and redirect himself to another platform.
Lily's Kingdra flew out of the water, grunting in pain and covered in static electricity. The seahorse struck the ghost tree, propelling him back further, where he struck a platform and used Ingrain to hold himself on the floating object. The seahorse however, crashed into the water, Acheron leaping from the deep onto the nearest platform, his breathing heavy and fur soaked. Cernunnos worried for his senior comrade, but noticed that he felt rather warm, his single eye glancing up and noticing that there was a ball of flame radiating from the ceiling. Cernunnos blinked in confusion, but then remembered that Acheron used Sunny Day earlier in the fight.
Using the pseudo sunlight to his advantage, Cernunnos put his three fingered hands together at the wrist, grunting as he began to charge a Solar Beam. The Sensational Sisters panicked, screaming incoherently to their Pokemon at the same time, the aquatic fighters knowing full well that a direct hit from that Solar Beam would be extremely unpleasant. Daisy's Dewgong vaulted forward, summoning a wave of water from the surrounding area, riding it as the seal surged forward. Violet's Seaking exploded from the wave, launching an Ice Beam directly at Cernunnos.
Acheron jumped in front of the less experienced Pokemon, launching a Flamethrower that dissipated the other Pokemon's attack as it flew forward, the feline smiling as it leaped up at Daisy's Dewgong. Cernunnos called out, launching the Solar Beam at the giant goldfish and striking it directly, the beam sending it flying back into the nearest wall, cracking it as the fish fell defeated to the ground.
Acheron extended his claws using Night Slash, striking the Dewgong in the chest and knocking it off of it's wave, the water falling limply back to the massive pool it spawned from. Acheron followed up by rolling into a ball, his tail glowing silver and his horn glowing green as he struck the Dewgong with his tail, rolling and striking the seal in the chest with his horn, the Megahorn dealing super effective damage after the Forest's Curse that Cernunnos laid on the seal earlier, something that the feline made sure to remember, uncurling himself and swinging his forelegs' claws in an X shape, the seal slamming into the ground defeated.
Acheron landed on the nearest platform, swinging his head and neck to the right and gathering everyone's attention as Lily's Kingdra floated to the surface, it's flesh slightly charred and it's consciousness lost. The referee swung his hand up. "Seaking, Dewgong and Kingdra are all unable to battle. The score is now 15-6 in favor of the Gym Leaders." he said plainly, gesturing to the trio of women who were returning their injured and defeated Pokemon back to their PokeBalls. The camera crew in the stands rose to their feet, the loud-mouthed commentator inhaling, his chest puffing out.
"An incredible display of strategy and teamwork from Cernunnos and Acheron! Despite being out numbered, the two of them used super effective moves to gain the upper hand and distract both their opponents and the opposing trainers from Acheron's Sunny Day." he said, pointing to the ball of fire, which had begun to grow hotter, the water slowly evaporating according to Acheron's plan. "Now then, allow us to see which of the Cerulean Sister's sensational Pokemon we'll see next." he said, Krom inhaling and thanking his father that the man made things short and brief.
The three sisters talked amongst themselves before nodding, each of them pulling a Dive Ball and tossing them at the water. The balls cracked open, bubbles erupting from the contraption as energy streamed from the sphere, taking shape in mid air as the balls closed and rebounded back towards the Cerulean Sisters. "And the next trio of aquatic champions from the Sensational Cerulean Sisters is Daisy's Cloyster, Lily's Gorebyss, and Violet's Blue Striped Basculin! This should be an interesting matchup!" the man said heartily, Krom gritting his teeth at the feigned emotion in his voice. Couldn't we get a better commentator? He wondered briefly.
The referee lifted his arm, and Krom immediately evaluated the three Pokemon floating at the surface of the water, locking eyes with Acheron, the feline nodding, as if he understood what Krom was thinking. "Cernunnos and Acheron vs. Cloyster, Gorebyss and Basculin will now commence!" he called, bringing his hairy arm down as the battle began, the trio of aquatic Pokemon immediately submerging themselves. Acheron looked to Cernunnos, nodding as he inhaled, releasing a loud cry as his body was cloaked in electricity, the platform becoming swarmed in electricity that spread into the water, the large pool conducting the attack.
All three Pokemon called out, each of them vaulted from the water. Acheron jumped from the platform, heading straight for the Cloyster, the ancient feline immediately assuming that the oldest sister's Pokemon would be the most powerful. Cernunnos launched a SolarBeam, both the Basculin and the Gorebyss evading the attack, the later launching an Ice Beam from it's mosquito like mouth. The blue striped fish fell into the water, Cernunnos putting up a Protect barrier to defend himself from the attack, the barrier dropping as the pink fish fell back into the water.
From behind, the blue striped piranha leapt out of the water, it's jaws glowing white as it Crunched down on Cernunnos' right arm, causing the tree to cry out from the force and the pain, his leg like root wobbling as the pink fish leaped from the water, spinning and jabbing it's spade shaped tail at the ghost tree. Cernunnos threw his hands down at the platform, launching a pair of Shadow Balls that shook his body, rattling the piranha off of him as he was vaulted into the air slightly. The Gorebyss' spade shaped tail missed, and Cernunnos' large wooden body fell from the sky, landing directly atop the Gorebyss.
Acheron grunted as he hit a platform, realizing that damaging a Cloyster's shell would be an extremely annoying task, as most of his recent attempts had failed. He launched a Razor Wind into the water, watching it break and splash, the Cloyster rising from his right, launching a flurry of Icicle Spears at the disaster Pokemon. Acheron leaped forward, using Flamethrower to avoid the sharp knife like icicles. Ceasing the flames, he caught the shell in his massive paws, driving it to the ground outside of the pool, on the opposite side of the gym from the bleachers. The Cloyster called out, and Acheron opened his mouth to use Dark Pulse, the black face in the shell flailing about before smiling.
Acheron launched the Dark Pulse as the Cloyster called out, it's body glowing as it resorted to using Explosion, the self destruct attack being used as a Kamikaze to take down the ancient feline. On the other side of the gym, the three warring Pokemon hesitated. Dust scattered about, and when it cleared, Daisy's Cloyster laid unconscious, Acheron's smoking figure standing atop it, mouth agape and immobile. The Ancient feline let out one cough, smoke erupting from his lungs as he wobbled, falling to the right, the close range explosion catching him off guard.
Daisy and Krom returned the two defeated Pokemon, Cernunnos noticing that both of his opponents seemed slightly taken aback and distracted. He took advantage of this, blindsiding both Pokemon with Energy Balls, leaping from the platform as extended the leaves on his wrists before spinning and flying at the water, landing with a heavy splash.
Water splashed about, and Krom grit his teeth, trying to search for the Pokemon within the dark, deep water, to no avail. It's almost like there's something jamming my senses. He thought, ignoring that that was a very real possibility, the water turning purple as a shadow floated to the top. Krom's heart throbbed, realizing that the change in color was because of blood. When the shadow reached the top, it bubbled above the surface, the green fish and it's blue stripe unmistakable as Violet's Basculin.
The water erupted, the pink fish and the ghost tree both in midair, exchanging projectile attacks at close range, a pair of Shadow Balls sending both of them flying back. Cernunnos chuckled, vanishing into thin air, the Gorebyss rather confused. When it neared the water, it rotated it's body to dive head first. However, the ghost tree rose from the water and swung it's large claws, striking the pink fish and sending it crashing through a platform, the odd material shattering from the force as the ghost tree propelled himself from the water to his left, where the nearest platform was.
The referee lifted his arm, sighing as he shook his head. "Acheron from the Challenger's side, and Cloyster, Gorebyss and Basculin from the Gym Leader's side are all unable to battle. The score is now 12-5 in favor of the Gym Leaders." he said, gesturing to the trio of sisters, the two younger ones returning their defeated Pokemon. Krom sighed as he reached for the next PokeBall, looking at it and shaking his head as the camera man stood. Krom groaned to himself. If I ever run a Gym, this guy is completely banned from the vicinity. He thought, ever so slightly bitter.
"Another fast, powerful exchange of blows that resulted in a triple Knockout for the Challenger!" He shouted, rolling his shoulders and puffing his chest out. "And in a powerful display of bravery and sacrifice, Daisy's Cloyster used Explosion as a last resort to defeat Acheron, the Absol that seemed to have the entire Gym's number!" He shouted with enthusiasm, Krom narrowing his eyes at the man's choice of words. Bravery? He thought with a chuckle, tossing out his next Pokemon, the ball cracking open and the energy flying straight to the bottom of the water, the ball closing and rebounding back at the Halfling.
"And it seems the Challenger has sent out his next Pokemon! Although.. it seems to be resting comfortably at the bottom of this Gym's pool." The announcer said, finding it rather odd. Cernunnos looked to the bottom of the pool, exhaling when he spotted his partner with his unique, ghostly vision. The three Gym Leaders all threw their PokeBalls into the air, Krom partially wondering where they held their PokeBalls, as they were all garbed in form fitting casual clothing. Two of the balls cracked open on platforms, Pokemon slowly taking shape as the PokeBalls rebounded back at the Gym Leaders, the third ball opening in air, Krom narrowing his eyes slightly.
The first two Pokemon took shape and released battle cries, the third Pokemon spreading it's thick, arm like wings broadly as it smiled silently. "What's this!? It seems that Lily has brought out a Togekiss, something that many would not expect from a Water Type Gym Leader!" The announcer called, Krom glancing to the bottom of the pool, knowing full well that having the Flying type Pokemon wasn't honestly at an advantage. "And their other Pokemon are Daisy's Golduck and Violet's Huntail!" he called, the broad mouthed eel slithering from the platform into the water.
The referee lifted his arm into the air. "The next battle between the Challenger and the Gym Leader will now begin!" he called, silencing the announcer as his arm came down, Cernunnos immediately leaping into the air. "Bergelmir, freeze the water's surface!" Krom called, the sentient iceberg releasing a silent cry as the water began to grow colder, Violet's Huntail beginning to shiver as it leaped from the water. Cernunnos took this as an opportunity to attack, immediately launching an Energy Ball directly at the airborne fish.
However, Lily's Togekiss intercepted the attack, allowing the green ball of energy to strike it, dealing very little damage as the oddly shaped bird retaliated with an Air Slash, an X-shaped blade of air flying in Cernunnos' direction. The Ghost tree glanced to the water, the surface of the water frozen over by his underwater teammate. Using the frozen water to his advantage, Cernunnos jumped from the small platform he was on, using the ice to slide to his right, the Air Slash striking the platform he was on and causing it to explode, Cernunnos turning his hands back and launching a pair of Shadow Balls to propel himself forward, directly at the three Pokemon.
Violet's Huntail had landed on the back of Daisy's Golduck, and now began to move in Cernunnos' direction, shooting through the air like a missile, launching an Ice Beam that Cernunnos avoided by leaning to his right, the two speeding at each other with no way of stopping. Huntail opened it's broad maw, it's teeth glowing white as Cernunnos' right arm began to glow green, the two colliding as Huntail clamped it's jaws down on the Ghost tree's left arm, causing him to spin off trajectory as he balled his right fist and slammed it into the fish's skull, knocking it off of his arm.
The Huntail flew through the air, striking the ice and sliding into the hole made from the destroyed platform, slowly regaining it's composure as it shook it's body before glancing down to the bottom of the pool, seeing a pair of shinning golden eyes at the deepest depths, the eel like Pokemon hesitating for a mere moment, that sole second of hesitation a grave mistake.
Back on the surface, Cernunnos was not having a good time. He slid back after being struck by an Ice Punch from Daisy's Golduck, the foul fowl throwing a hooking right Ice Punch. Cernunnos used his left forearm to bock the strike, the Shadow Claw he wrapped around his arm reducing the damage. However, the tactic didn't work very well, as he was slowed by the attack, his damaged arm weighed down by chunks of ice, allowing the duck to flex his left fist, ice forming around his hand before he opened it in a knife edge, twisting his body to the right and striking Cernunnos in a rising arc with a blade like Ice Punch, causing the tree to take a step back.
Lily's Togekiss followed up, the sole non-water type the Sisters used so far unleashing a stiff Air Slash, the attack striking Cernunnos in the face and causing him to stumble back even further, the ice falling off of his body from the impact, the tree grimacing as bark fell off with it. Cernunnos was forced into a state of desperation, vanishing into thin air to recuperate and get an idea of how to progress. The two Pokemon that remained visible to the Gym Leaders and the challengers began to look around, searching for any of the three Pokemon that weren't visible.
They soon found the first of the three missing Pokemon, Violet's Huntail flying up from the singular hole in the ice, a black beam of energy flying out after it and striking it, sending it's damaged, smoking body crashing into the roof. Krom exhaled, happy that Bergelmir was alright, as the Avalugg hadn't sent him any signals on how well he was doing at the bottom of the pool. His eyes moved to the roof, watching Violet's Huntail fall from the sky and hit the ice, it's body immobile and defeated, forcing the Sensational Sister to return the Pokemon, waiting for the four remaining Pokemon to defeat the opposing side.
Cernunnos, can you hear me? Krom asked telepathically, worried about the Trevenant, who was still one of his younger Pokemon despite it's appearance. Hearing a grunt in his mind, Krom exhaled, glad that the tree didn't simply flee. Listen to me carefully. While you're still invincible, launch a few projectiles at the Golduck before striking the Togekiss. That flat-faced bird the biggest obstacle for both you and Bergelmir. He instructed, knowing that sometimes, his Pokemon needed active instruction, despite their ability to perform to their fullest alone.
Hearing a grunt in his head, Krom watched as a Shadow Ball flew in the Golduck's direction. The fowl leaped into the air to avoid it, quacking in shock when a hole opened above it's head and frozen rocks began to pour down, striking it and distracting Lily's Togekiss. Using the distraction provided by Bergelmir, Cernunnos erupted from out of nowhere, bringing it's claws down on Togekiss and grabbing it by the wings, driving it through the ice and into the water.
The water weighed down both Pokemon, slowing their movements and mobility, something that was more to the advantage of Cernunnos, who simply vanished again, increasing his ability to move, as he slipped into what seemed to be another dimension, one where he had unhindered movement. Togekiss spun, repeatedly using Gust to blast itself back to the surface, only to see a pair of golden eyes closing in with each passing moment.
Back on the surface, Daisy's Golduck erupted from the frozen rocks, clearly angered as it looked around for any of the other three Pokemon. It sensed movement from it's rear, spinning and throwing a left Ice Punch that struck Cernunnos, the duck's sensory abilities picking up his attack. Cernunnos stumbled from the impact, allowing the duck to follow up with another attack, the right Ice Punch more of an uppercut than anything else, knocking the tree into the air.
Before the duck could follow up, the ice behind him shattered, two large bodies flying through the air as Bergelmir crashed into a platform and cracked it before wobbling back to his feet. Lily's Togekiss used Sunny Day, firing a small ball of fire into the air that dried off it's soaked, weighted feathers, the living iceberg slamming his front feet down as spires of rock began to shoot into the sky, the Togekiss scoffing as it slowly and expertly weaved around each one, closing in and opening it's broad mouth.
Cernunnos saw that his friend was in trouble, and used Phantom Force to slip into the alternate dimension before reappearing in front of the iceberg as Lily's Togekiss launched a massive Fire Blast at close range, the tree calling out in pain as his leaves were singed clean off and his bark was burnt, his smoking body still in a singular piece as he rocked, falling over worn down and unconscious.
Bergelmir looked to the defeated tree, surprise etched on his frozen features. Krom cursed, pulling the Ball from his waist and returning the defeated tree, looking to Bergelmir, who briefly made eye contact with his trainer. And in Krom's eyes, Bergelmir saw determination, and he perceived a silent command from the look they exchanged, the surprise in Bergelmir's features shifting to anger as he turned to the owl shaped bird in front of him, roaring as he vaulted himself into the air, his pointed face piercing the flesh of the Togekiss, who called out as the Golduck leaped to it's aid.
Bergelmir used Gyro Ball, his body beginning to spin as he used his rotation to throw off the Golduck, who had frozen and hesitated, unable to risk striking his teammate during the rotation. The duck looked to Daisy, who shook her head, unable to tell the duck what he should do, Bergelmir managing to take advantage of his opponent's inexperience in situations like this as he shifted his rotation towards the ground, the screaming Togekiss, unable to react as it was slammed to the ground and it's stomach was torn open, blood flying across the ice as the iceberg rolled off of it, landing on his feet and exhaling.
The duck roared as it was finally able to attack, running forward and launching a Focus Blast in Bergelmir's direction, the iceberg merely using Protect to block the attack before using the ice he put across the top of the water to his advantage, sliding in the duck's direction with his mouth open. The duck moved to jump to his right, but he slipped on the ice, falling on his face as a black beam of energy flew in his direction, striking him in the side and sending him flying into the wall to Krom's right, across from the audience.
When the dust from the strike cleared, the duck fell to the ground unconscious, the Togekiss behind Bergelmir defeated and remaining unmoving due to blood loss. The referee threw his arm up. "Cernunnos, Huntail, Togekiss and Golduck are all unable to battle! The score is now 9-4 in the Gym Leader's favor!" he called, the sisters returning their Pokemon, Lily handing her Togekiss off to one of the members of the medical staff that was on hand, something that Krom noticed Brock lacked. Then again, Brock was a lot stronger than these three. He said, having a feeling that regardless of the outcome, this battle wouldn't be as intense as his cataclysmic showdown with the Pewter City Gym Leader.
"Incredible! After a shocking chain of events, the lone Pokemon remaining is Krom's Bergelmir! Of course, we of the Kanto Battle Network have to wonder exactly how much damage Sister Lily's Togekiss sustained after a brutal attack from Bergelmir!" The announcer screamed, Krom briefly entertaining the idea of purposefully attacking the audience, something he chuckled about and disregarded, watching his opponents pull out their next three PokeBalls.
Krom pulled out his next PokeBall, exhaling as he tossed it into the air, watching the ball crack open, the energy flying over to Bergelmir's head before taking shape as the ball closed and rebounded back to Krom. The energy dissipated, Iris happily chattering on the cold skull of her current ally, the Emolga reaching down and patting his head. Krom rolled his neck as he watched the Sensational Sisters throw out their next trio of Pokemon, all three PokeBalls cracking open in sync, the energy flying out from them as the balls closed and rebounded to the sisters, the energy dissipating at the same time, revealing a trio of Starmie.
"Here it is! One of the Sensational Sisters' specialties! It's the Starm-Three!" the announcer called, Krom making a confused face at the play on words that was used to describe the three starfish. The referee lifted his arm and exhaled. "The next battle between Bergelmir and Iris versus the Starmie Three will now commence!"
Krom immediately surveyed the battlefield, seeing thinned ice from the exposure of the waning Sunny Day, a pile of frozen rocks from Bergelmir's Avalanche attack to his right, and a single hole in the ice directly in front of him."Make sure to keep an eye on the ground! Refreeze it if need be!" He called, Bergelmir nodding as the trio of starfish surrounded them. Iris crouched down slightly, slapping Bergelmir's head before leaping into the air, spreading her thin, wing like membrane and exhaling.
The three starfish all glanced up at the flying squirrel, the distraction allowing Bergelmir to release a Blizzard from his mouth, a wave of cold air and ice shooting across the ground and thickening the ice that was already atop the surface of the pool. The starfish picked up on this, using their incredible speed to leap into the air, shifting their attention to Bergelmir and all spinning like shuriken, launching torrents of boiling water from the gems in the center of their bodies, striking the sentient iceberg and the ice surrounding him.
Iris picked up on the tactic of the three starfish quickly, realizing that they moved in sync and targeted a single opponent, allowing them to wear down their foes much faster than usual. Acting in response to this, Iris used Agility, speeding up her movement as she coated her body in electricity, releasing a small shout as she slammed into one of the three Starmie, throwing it's Scald off, the boiling water striking a second Starmie, who ceased it's Scald before it would strike anyone, or anything else.
Iris dragged the Starmie into the ice, calling to Bergelmir to follow up on her attack, a hole opening up in the air above them, frozen rocks beginning to fall from the sky as Iris drove her foe into the ice, cracking it before using Agility once more to avoid the rocks, immediately spinning through the air and using Air Slash on the third Starmie, who had landed on the ground and continued it's assault on Bergelmir.
After burying the Starmie underneath a pile of frozen rock, Bergelmir moved to the Starmie that was still attacking, his mind beginning to process multiple possible counterattacks. However, the secondary effect of the Scald he was being struck with triggered, and flames erupted around his body at random, causing his legs to wobble, Iris clapping her tiny hands together and spreading them. She called to Bergelmir, who looked up and nodded. Using Ice Beam, Bergelmir launched a single beam in the direction of the grounded Starmie, who leaped into the air to avoid the attack, Iris closing in with an Electro Ball between her palms.
Rolling like a ball in midair, Iris struck the starfish with an Iron Tail, driving it towards the ground slightly before rolling and slam dunking the Electro Ball against the starfish's gem, nosediving after the starfish to follow up, calling to Bergelmir once again, the Emolga coming up with the idea of using their opponent's strategy against them. Bergelmir roared, lifting himself up onto his rear legs before slamming them down, another hole opening above Iris and the next Starmie, frozen rocks beginning to rain down like gigantic raindrops.
However, Bergelmir's burn triggered, the flames coating his body causing him to lose focus, the rocks ceasing to fall as the final Starmie erupted into the air from Bergelmir's left, releasing a gigantic Hydro Pump that struck him in the side, sending him flying through the air, the first Starmie rising from the frozen rocks and catching him in midair with a Psychic, throwing him back at the third Starmie.
The third starfish used Psyshock, balls of psychic energy spawning all around and continuously striking Bergelmir as he crashed into the ice, cracking it as he used Gyro Ball to roll back to his feet. He looked to Iris, who had just spun and used Iron Tail, driving the Electro Ball into the gem of the Starmie, causing an explosion that rung out, the Emolga flying freely from the smoke. Bergelmir grunted, flames once again erupting around and licking at his frozen flesh. He acknowledged that he wouldn't last much longer, and immediately rose to his hind legs, calling to Iris for a final combination attack, the Emolga nodding as she used Charge.
The trio of Starmie regrouped, all of them injured and the second Starmie suffering a cracked gem, the trio all seeing Bergelmir begin to fall back to a quadrupedal stance. Realizing that this was his primary form of physical offense, the trio immediately launched a trio of Swifts, a horde of sharp energy stars flying throughout the air and striking the sentient iceberg, who grunted as he looked to the flying squirrel he was depending on, who was continuing to charge electricity, waiting for Bergelmir's signal to attack.
Flames once more licked at Bergelmir, and he roared, Iris taking his cry as the signal to attack, the heavily damaged iceberg using Giga Impact to slam his legs down, a movement that allowed him to use Earthquake, sending a massive shockwave through the ice, shattering it and sending himself and the trio of Starmie crashing into the water, frozen rock and ice weighing them down and locking them beneath the surface, leaving Iris free to counterattack.
The Emolga unleashed a shrill scream, a high pitched sound that was accompanied with a massive Thunder being launched from her body and directly at the pool of water and ice, the lake sized pool conducing the attack and sending a titanic electric shock through the gym, the power surging and flickering as the heat of the electricity combined with the lighting and the dying embers of Togekiss's Sunny Day began to evaporate the pool of water, something that Bergelmir aided in, his final attack being a large Blizzard to freeze the water, allowing the force of the electricity to simply shatter it like glass.
Shattering ice began to scatter about the gym, Krom whistling at the near explosive force of the attack, which had to have been enough to topple a large building at the least, the lights returning to normal and the torrent of electricity ceasing as Iris ran out of energy, using Roost to land on the ground at Krom's feet, panting as she began to recover from the battle she just had.
In the now empty pool, a feat that rather impressed Krom, lied the defeated forms of all three Starmie, along with Bergelmir, a Pokemon that continued to impress Krom with it's abilities and stamina. Krom pulled Bergelmir's PokeBall from his waist, returning the iceberg to his ball and smiling. "You did great out there Buddy. Take a good, long nap." he said, chuckling as he reached for his next PokeBall. The Sisters grimaced, a look that combined surprise with anger, returning the trio of Starmie as the referee signaled to someone that Krom couldn't see, lifting his arm as a solid battlefield began to close over the emptied pool.
"The Starmie Three and Bergelmir are all unable to battle! The score is now 6-3 in favor of the Gym Leader!" The referee called, the sisters beginning to discuss their next Pokemon amongst themselves, as each of them were down to two Pokemon each, something that Krom took in mind as well, tossing his PokeBall in the air and catching it.
"Another incredible spectacle! The Starm-Three had proven over the past year to be a formidable force, widdling down the opponent's entire team one by one, and yet the Challenger's Avalugg and Emolga managed to overwhelm that trio with a very similar tactic! With the battle in it's final stretches, what can the Challenger or the Gym Leader's possibly do to surpass what we've seen so far!?" the announcer shouted, Krom noticing that his long tirade was to pass time until the large pool was covered over by a slab of what Krom assumed was concrete that was at least three to five feet thick, and as long and wide as a football field.
Krom tossed his fifth PokeBall into the air, watching it crack open as the energy shot directly to his feet, the ball closing and rebounding back to his hand. The energy at his feet dissipated, and a small, chattering sound rang out, Krom chuckling as he crouched down and patted Jerry on the head, the small Pichu seeming rather enthusiastic, despise his slightly inflated appearance. "Try and burn off some of those calories, alright Buddy?" he said, poking the mouse's stomach jokingly. Jerry grumbled, folding his stubby arms before turning to his trainer's opponents.
Jerry called out to the Sensational Sisters, a determined sound that was accompanied with a tiny thumbs down from the mouse, a motion that seemed to anger the sisters, who quickly talked amongst themselves before selecting their Pokemon. Krom narrowed his eyes, noticing that Daisy's PokeBall stuck out, the standard PokeBall being replaced with a gem adorned Dive Ball, signaling that she held this Pokemon in very high regard. The three balls flung out onto the field, cracking open and releasing large torrents of energy before closing and rebounding back to their trainers. Krom cursed, his hand moving to Sagat's PokeBall, the Halfling briefly entertaining swapping Jerry out.
There's no way he can handle these titans. He thought, staring across the field at Violet's Golduck, this one a darker color than the previous Golduck, with a red tinted beak, signaling that it was a rare 'shiny' Golduck, something that it seemed to share with it's teammates, the first of which was Lily's green Feraligatr. The centerpiece of the trio, and what Krom viewed as the biggest threat, was Daisy's Blastoise, a purple monster with a green shell and a leather glove on it's left hand, a stone set into the back. A fucking Mega Stone. Shit.
"And here we are! The beginning of the finale of this battle starts us off with a matchup clearly in the favor of the Gym Leaders! Can the challenger's smaller, faster Pokemon wear down their massive foes with superior tactics and a type advantage? Or will the sheer power of the Sensational Sisters' Pokemon be too much!?" The announcer shouted, his odd wording making it seem like he was on the Gym Leaders' side, something that bugged Krom a tiny bit more than it should have. The referee lifted his arm, inhaling. "The battle between The Challenger's Jerry the Pichu and Iris the Emolga versus the Leaders' Blastoise, Feraligatr and Golduck will now begin!" And his arm came down.
Jerry and Iris Immediately attacked, launching a pair of hefty Thunderbolts in the direction of their foes. As Iris predicted, the trio of Pokemon scattered, and she began formulating a plan as she moved. She sent an electric shock to Jerry, triggering his Lightning Rod ability and increasing his power, the shock also sending information his way, the mouse nodding as he moved to his left, after Violet's Golduck. He used Agility, increasing his speed slightly, as his slightly inflated body weighed him down the slightest bit. The duck picked up on this, clapping his webbed hands together before launching an Ice Beam in Jerry's direction.
Iris chose to deal with both of the remaining Pokemon, using Agility to keep her speed at an increased limit, launching a Thunderbolt at Lily's Feraligatr as she flew overhead, spinning around and launching an Air Slash at the feet of Daisy's Blastoise, the large tortoise tripping from the attack, falling on it's stomach. Using the few moments Blastoise needed to recover as an opening, she flew overhead and used Thunder, the stronger attack slamming into the reptile and dealing a hefty amount of damage. She looked to her left, where Feraligatr launched a Hydro Pump in her direction. Using Air Slash, Iris pushed herself further into the air, the Hydro Pump flying under her stomach, allowing the Emolga a little breathing room, her focus shifting to Jerry ever so slightly.
Jerry jumped back from a Cross Chop, chuckling to himself as he launched another Thunderbolt, using his increased speed to avoid the Golduck, continuously dealing damage with long ranged attacks. However, the strategy began to slowly take a toll on his body, his weight reducing his stamina and forcing him to take other actions. Jerry leaped into the air soon after, exhaling as he launched a weak Thunder Wave, the attack designed to deal no damage, and instead paralyze and reduce the mobility of his opponent, allowing him to recover more and more each time, a strategy that he thought was rather clever.
Landing on the ground, he noticed that his attack landed, and Golduck's speed was cut in half, allowing Jerry to mock his opponent, sticking his tongue out and pulling on his eyelid, launching another Thunderbolt that drove the fowl to it's knees, causing the mouse to laugh at his foe's misfortune. He exhaled, watching his foe closely as he simply relaxed, his body beginning to regain energy as he used Charge, Iris's training paying off rather well.
Sadly, Iris wasn't having such a good time. Her opponents were quicker than expected, and she couldn't rely on flying, as both of her foes were capable of using Avalanche, as she found out. She soon realized that her only chance of winning was to repeat her previous tactic, wearing down one opponent by teaming up with her partner. She weaved around Feraligatr, who launched himself into the air with Aqua Jet, glancing to Jerry, who was toying with his opponent, something she explained to him multiple times that he shouldn't do. She called out to him, using Agility once more to dash to his side, the small mouse looking confused.
In this moment of confusion, Golduck made his move, surrounding himself in a torrent of water and launching himself forward as fast as he could. Jerry looked in front of him, finding the attack rather surprising, his shock keeping him glued to the spot, immobile. Iris reached him in time thankfully, shoving him out of the way as she was struck, striking the ground and bouncing. Krom grit his teeth, his fingers wrapping around Sagat's PokeBall as Iris rose back to a standing position. "Iris, take a break and let Sagat take care of things!" Krom called, and Iris looked to him, her breathing slightly labored, shaking her head.
"I won't let one hit do me in!" she shouted, surging forward with Quick Attack, her doubly increased speed allowing her to move fast enough to release a small sonic boom, slamming into Golduck's chest before launching a Thunder at full force, the fowl screaming in agony as Iris called to Jerry, the Pichu breaking out of his trance and nodding before releasing his own Thunderbolt, the duck crying out as the combined strikes caused an explosion. The dust scattered and Daisy cursed under her breath, reaching into her long, blonde hair and pulling out a gem adorned hair pin, holding it up and calling to her Blastoise, who roared in compliance.
Krom cursed, watching the Blastoise's form slowly morph as the dust began to clear. When the torrent of sapphire energy dissipated, and Daisy's Blastoise leaned down with it's now singular, titanic back cannon pointed at the smoke, Krom pulled Sagat's PokeBall from his waist, wholly expecting Iris to have been defeated in the explosion. I can't let her keep going. At this rate, she could end up seriously injured. He thought, pulling Iris's PokeBall as well, everyone's breath caught in their throats as the smoke began to dissipate.
When it did, Krom cursed, realizing that both Pokemon were still in the fight, watching them rise to their feet. Krom pointed Iris's PokeBall in her direction, exhaling in relief that she wasn't injured. "Blastoise!" Daisy called, and the massive tortoise roared in compliance, pointing it's massive cannon directly at Jerry before launching a gigantic Hydro Cannon. Krom had already called for Iris, and the red energy to return her to her spherical domain was already flying in her direction. Krom's heart skipped a beat as Iris avoided the stream of energy, her body moving in Jerry's direction.
At this moment, Krom realized that there was nothing he could do. Should he chose to personally intervene, he would be disqualified, and the Cerulean Sisters could simply ban him from their gym, and even put out a warrant for his arrest, something that wouldn't be easy to dismiss, even with Simba's aid. Sagat couldn't be released fast enough, and Jerry was frozen in place, Krom now regretting the decision to bring him along. However, as he watched Iris land in front of Jerry and spread her arms, using Protect with all of her might, Krom felt another emotion. He was angry.
He knew that Daisy waited for him to call Iris back to Mega Evolve her Blastoise and attack. She purposefully waited for him and his Pokemon to be at their most vulnerable to strike, and for some reason, it angered him. He watched the Hydro Cannon strike Iris's barrier, the intense force of the condensed sphere of water shattering the barrier and striking Iris, the resulting explosion sending Iris vaulting into the wall next to the audience, her small body striking with an incredible amount of force before falling, smoking, to the ground.
The referee immediately threw his arm up, bringing the battle to a halt. "Iris the Emolga is unable to battle! The score is now 6-2 in the Gym Leaders' favor!" he called, gesturing to the medical team to see to Iris, the crew unable to reach her before Krom.
In the center of the field, Feraligatr and Golduck began recovering, Blastoise remaining poised, his cannon aimed directly at Jerry, who stood in a mind numbed state, his brain unable to process what had just occurred. He felt a great many emotions, and he couldn't identify any of them, his teeth grinding and his shoulders heaving as he clenched his stubby fists, tears falling from his large eyes as his muscles began to flex, his small chest heaving heavily as hysterical grunts began to emit from between his grit teeth.
Krom looked to Iris, opening his right hand and exhaling, watching a yellow light wash over Iris's injured form, Krom able to detect internal injures atop the most glaring external injury. Bar the many cuts and bruises she had from her battles, the membrane that went from her sides out to the underside of her arms was torn, and nigh on gone for the most part. Krom tried to heal it using his own powers, but for some reason, the injury wouldn't heal much, if at all. Krom had a feeling this had to do with something Simba said about Mega Evolution functioning as an antithesis to godly powers, a thought that made him detest the concept even more.
When the medical team reached him and Iris, he looked to them as they quietly requested her PokeBall. Krom complied without hesitation, the two people whispering among themselves before nodding. "We will contact you if anything goes wrong. She should be in stable condition, and will recover quickly thanks to you." one of them said, a shorter fellow with a wiry beard, escorting his teammate out of the gym, Krom balling his fists as he looked to the audience. He noticed that there was no one he truly cared about, seeing the camera crew, and a few folks that were likely related to or otherwise connected to the Cerulean Sisters.
In his enraged state, he looked to the Cerulean Sisters, his elongated claws and fangs accenting his narrowed eyes, which were now beginning to glow, small black scales beginning to form on his shoulders. "Care to explain why you waited until I was recalling my Pokemon to attack?" Krom asked, a baritone echo surrounding his words, Daisy confidently folding her arms and exhaling. "Oh please. I'm sure you did far worse to our sister." she said, and Krom's lips twitched upwards, a booming chuckle escaping his frame, Jerry completely forgotten in the chaos.
"Is that what this is about? Your piece of shit sister!?" Krom asked, a loud roar in his tone. Daisy refused to answer, and the referee lifted his hand, signaling for the announcer to speak before Krom sent out his final Pokemon. "Another incredible display from the competitors here, including a devious strategy from Daisy, showing off a little of the genius that has helped keep them undefeated for…. The last…. Year?" He said, his usual booming enthusiasm cut down to a meek, questioning tone at the sight of Krom standing in front of him.
His right hand shot out, catching the announcer by the throat and squeezing tight, lifting him into the air slowly, watching him drop his microphone and began to struggle. "Genius? You DARE call the blatant cheating that might have disabled one of a GOD'S Pokemon GENIUS!?" Krom bellowed, the man shaking his head in shock and fear, Krom scoffing as he tossed the man back in his seat, leaning forward and baring his teeth, an animalistic gesture that asserted his dominance over the audience, making them all fully aware that he was angry, and due to his anger, they lived and died at his will.
Making his way back to his place across from the Gym Leaders, he exhaled, the scales beginning to vanish as his body returned to it's standard, human form. He looked to the field, seeing Jerry continuously sobbing and frowning. He reached for Sagat's PokeBall, and Jerry called out. "No!" he shouted, his high pitched voice coming as a surprise to Krom. "What do you mean 'no'? You stand no chance against one of them, let alone all three!" Krom shouted, trying to convince the small mouse to not engage in suicidal activity. He shook his head, all of his muscles contorting at once as thunder resounded throughout the gym, Krom unaware that there was a storm in the area.
And then he hesitated. There wasn't. No one sensed anything. He thought, realizing that Jerry's emotions were causing the storm. Jerry threw his head back and shouted, the power in the gym beginning to surge as his muscles flexed once more, Krom exhaling as he slowly began to put Sagat's PokeBall back on his waist, his confidence in Jerry growing. "Well if you're going to do something, then do it!" he shouted, calling out to the sobbing mouse, who wiped his tears and nodded before throwing his head back one more time, his body erupting in a shimmering light as lightning struck the gym, the roof collapsing from the force of the harnessed storm.
Krom watched the people in the audience scatter, screaming in shock and fear as the roof began to rain down like murderous, solid drops of rain upon them, the agitated demigod casting a Protect barrier about them, realizing that allowing them to live in fear of him was far more satisfying then watching them pointlessly die. His eyes shifted back to the center of the room, watching as the rain that began to pour in began to heal the Gym Leaders' Pokemon, something that didn't seem to worry Krom in the slightest, the light and lightning surrounding Jerry beginning to die down, the referee seeming the most puzzled.
Krom looked to him, the noise in the gym down to a low humming of the energy surrounding Jerry. "This will be all. Jerry will take things from here by himself." he said, and the referee hesitated, but nodded. "Jerry versus Blastoise, Feraligatr and Golduck will now commence!" he shouted, the energy surrounding Jerry finally vanishing, the sight of the electric rodent something that left his opponents hesitant, and the audience speechless.
His form had completely changed, no longer the tiny, overweight Pichu that remained useless in the fight. He was now far larger, standing at four feet tall at the top of his ears. His body was now much denser, clocking in at seventy-five pounds, nearly six times more than the average member of his species. His arms were longer than normal, and defined with yellow muscles, made to look gold with his shimmering, humming aura. His legs were more shapely as well, appearing less like rounded nubs with feet and more like actual legs, albeit a bit short. His chest was defined, his muscles and his size seeming unnatural for a Pikachu.
Jerry looked down to his hands, flexing them and exhaling as he clenched his golden fists. He furrowed his brow, looking up to the three Pokemon standing in front of him. His mind began to race, as if he was thinking as fast as he could move, his vision picking up Daisy's movements as she commanded her Blastoise to attack. Jerry move preemptively, vanishing from sight with a sonic boom before appearing in the air above the Blastoise. He watched the tortoise acknowledge his presence, immediately moving to defend himself instinctually.
Sensing a pair of attacks from each side, Feraligatr and Golduck not about to watch their teammate be defeated, Jerry vanished again, this time reappearing in front of Blastoise, the Hydro Pumps from the other Water Pokemon flying over his ears. He threw a single, right Thunder Punch, striking Blastoise in the stomach. The reptile called out in agony, electricity shooting through his body as he doubled over and grabbed his injured abdominal area. Jerry shot up, a simple vertical leap that caused his skull to crash into the chin of the Blastoise, sending it's head snapping back, the tortoise falling to his back, immobilized.
Jerry vanished again, this time appearing in front of the Golduck, the massive Pikachu able to nearly look the fowl in the eyes. He kicked the duck in the stomach, electricity shooting from his foot and paralyzing the bird in a doubled over position as Jerry turned to deal with Feraligatr, who had closed in and thrown a downward arcing, right Ice Punch. Jerry scowled, catching the gator's hand with ease, using a small burst of electricity to counteract the ice. With the gator's hand caught in his own, he smiled, releasing a massive burst of electricity that created a blinding flash, everyone forced to cover their eyes.
When Krom's vision cleared, he was not surprised to see Feraligatr lying singed, possibly to death, on the ground, his hand being released by Jerry, who vanished once more, his movement either teleportation like or simply far faster than even Krom's eyes could track. Reappearing in front of Golduck, he chuckled, grabbing the Golduck's arms and hooking them behind his back in a chicken wing hold, pinning the fowl's skull between his thighs in a head scissors before jumping up and back, releasing electricity throughout his body and the ground as he slammed the duck to the ground face first, vanishing as the duck spasmed on the ground, obviously unable to continue competing.
As for the final remaining Pokemon of the trio, he wasn't having a very fun day. Still stuck on his back, Blastoise was unable to do anything as Jerry appeared in the air, levitating using Magnet Rise. He watched helplessly as the mouse turned sideways, squaring his stance and cupping his hands by his right hip. He began to shout, electricity cackling between his palms as he moved on to the second syllable, the cackling electricity now a ball that began to glow.
By the third syllable, it was easy to tell that Jerry was enraged, his voice growing louder and louder as it began to echo, the fourth syllable ringing out like a church bell as the glowing energy in his hands began to cast a sinister shadow over his features. Realizing this was his last, and only chance, Blastoise launched a Hydro Pump from the cannon on his back, allowing him to shoot across the floor and out of Jerry's reach, his arm cannons being pointed at Jerry's back before he launched a pair of Hyper Beams that collided with the ceiling.
Jerry had once again vanished, and this time he reappeared atop Blastoise, the final, fifth syllable ringing out as a single, sinister note as he threw his hands forward, another blinding flash ringing out as the remainder of the gym began to shake, the concrete slab covering the pool cracking under the massive force as a shockwave shattered all of the glass in the gym, the rain pouring in from the sky serving no purpose but to wash away smoke and dirt from the area.
And when the light died down, and the rain washed away the smoke and dirt, Blastoise was no more. Jerry stood confidently, and defiantly amongst the scattered forms of his foes, his feet sitting atop a cracked, black stain on the ground as he flexed his muscles, another small shockwave ringing out as the referee threw his hand up.
"Blastoise, Golduck and Feraligatr are no longer able to battle! The score is now 3-2 in the Gym Leader's favor!" he called, and Lily and Violet returned their heavily, and maybe permanently, damaged Pokemon. Daisy seemed horrified, unable to process that her Pokemon simply no longer existed, the blonde Leader unable to do anything as the shimmering golden warrior on the field enacted his solemn, swift, divine retribution.
The announcer remained silent, unable to bring himself to say anything, his mind completely numbed from the things he'd experienced here today. The referee breathed a sigh of relief, and Krom chuckled, understanding the striped shirted man's feelings. "Please send out your final Pokemon." he said, the sisters all reaching for their final PokeBalls. Lily threw out her PokeBall first, the ball cracking open as as a shining, golden Floatzel hit the field, inflating the unusual silver tube around his body, seeming very, very pleased that it was raining.
Violet threw her PokeBall out next. Krom watched it crack open as a familiar shape flew out, the Swampert hitting the ground and calling out, a gem adorned collar around his neck, the gem seeming very familiar to Krom, and he began to grow the slightest bit worried as Daisy threw out he final PokeBall, Krom watching it crack open as a shadowy shape struck the ground before rising to a confident, vertical position, it's tongue billowing in the rainy wind like a scarf.
Violet called to her Swampert, pulling a necklace from beneath the frilly blouse she wore, the mud fish calling out as his collar began to react, Krom watching the very familiar morphing of a Swampert's figure into the bulky hulking creature known by the title of 'Mega' Swampert. Krom looked to the sky, realizing that the rain wasn't going to let up anytime soon, something that worried him. "Floatzel and Swampert have Swift Swim. Are you sure you can keep up?" he asked, and Jerry chuckled. "Of course. I plan on using the rain to my advantage as well." he said, glancing back to Krom with a toothy smile, the Halfling rather surprised at the mouse's shift in personality.
The referee's arm rose, and he inhaled for the second last time in this duel, Krom nodding to him, singling that Jerry was fine by himself. "The battle between Jerry the Pikachu Versus Mega Swampert, Floatzel and Greninja will now commence!" he called, his arm coming down akin to the rain.
Once the referee's hand came down, all three of Jerry's opponents vanished into thin air, the mouse snickering as he used Charge, gathering electricity as he waited for his opponent's to make a move, his shimmering aura beginning to become dense, the humming growing louder as all three of his opponents appeared in the air, launching a trio of Hydro Pumps directly at him, Krom noticing that thanks to the rain, the Pikachu's opponents were too fast for him to avoid the attack and not be intercepted. Jerry began to laugh, exhaling.
"You idiots!" Jerry shouted, releasing a single scream as he release a massive wave of electricity, using his opponent's attacks to conduct his own technique as electricity began to scatter across the ground, lighting up the dim gym with electrified terrain, something Krom had never seen before. The Halfling was slightly confused, feeling invigorated by the large Electric Terrain Jerry released, chuckling to himself as he watched the trio of Water Pokemon hit the ground, glancing about as if they were confused by the state of the battlefield.
This confusion was a fatal mistake, as Jerry moved like lightning, his aura and the terrain masking his movement as he appeared in front of Floatzel, the weasel caught off guard as Jerry's electrically charged tail struck it in the shoulder, a cry of pain escaping it's lips as the bones of it's right arm and shoulder were shattered, it's feet leaving the ground as Jerry rose into the air and held out his right palm, exhaling as he charged a massive Electro Ball, watching Swampert move to Floatzel's aid, Greninja flying through the air at him, blades of dark energy in his palms.
Jerry vanished again, appearing in front of Floatzel and screaming, the Electro Ball encapsulating the weasel's figure as Swampert reached out to his opponent, shock evident on his face at the attack, a blinding light scattering across the electrically lit field as Floatzel's smoking body fell back, unable to continue, Lily's final Pokemon discarded like the rejects of a high class breeding project, the pink haired Trainer falling to her knees, anguish filling her being at her inability to get revenge for her sister's death.
Jerry jumped back to his starting position, exhaling and smirking at Swampert and Greninja, his posture seeming extremely relaxed, his aura still cackling around his body as the rain continued to pour down, the electric terrain still keeping the field lit up, the bright golden glow casting shadows across the figures of Jerry and his trainer. Lily recalled her defeated, and likely injured Pokemon, causing her sisters to frown, looking at her before calling out to their Pokemon to win at all costs, even if it meant breaking the rules. The two aquatic monsters nodded, the pouring drain allowing them to move at speeds faster than the eye could follow, Jerry able to easily keep up with them.
Jerry collided with both of them, leaning to his right to avoid a hooking right punch from Swampert, stepping back to avoid a right roundhouse kick from Greninja before stepping forward and throwing a stiff left front kick, striking Swampert in the shoulder and knocking him back long enough to return to a standing position and engage Greninja.
The amphibious ninja threw a right jab, Jerry blocking by throwing a right cross palm, blocking his webbed fingers before spinning, striking the ninja in the chest with a spinning back left elbow, causing him to stumble for a fraction of a second, that small margin of time all Jerry needed to use Agility and spin back around, throwing a right roundhouse kick, striking the frog in the left shoulder and knocking him aside.
Swampert managed to recover in this time, bursting forth with Aqua Jet, Jerry's long ears picking up the sound of a sonic boom from the mud fish, Jerry able to react to the water Pokemon's lunging right punch, stepping to the right before turning to the right as well, throwing a pair of Mega Punches into the Mud Fish's right side, sending him crashing into the wall opposite of the audience, causing him to fly next door to the PokeMart, crashing through the walls and scaring the customers.
Jerry turned back to Greninja, exhaling as he began to feel the strain of his short, but quick paced fight. His body began to ache from the strain he was putting on it by using Agility, his aura and the increased speed causing his body to vibrate as if he was running at a sprinting pace nonstop.
The mouse Pokemon shook his head before using Agility again, vanishing from the Greninja's supersonic perception and appearing in front of him without so much as a whisper, throwing a left uppercut into the frog's abdomen before following up quickly with a jumping right spinning back kick, his heel crashing into the frog's skull and sending him flying, Jerry gritting his teeth at the white hot pain that erupted in his right leg. I've gotta finish this now. Mister Zekrom says I can't push myself too hard. He thought.
Remembering the training he went under while in Pinwheel, Jerry used Agility a third time, the rain freezing in the air as he exploded towards Greninja. Mister Zekrom says that I should be able to do it for two seconds. He thought, watching Greninja reach his feet and rebound back at him, the mouse genuinely surprised at his opponent's speed, which was equal to his, the both of them beginning to exchange blows in the rain, their bodies and minds moving so fast that the rain appeared to have stopped.
Greninja threw a spinning right roundhouse kick, Jerry blocking with his left forearm, responding with a right mid kick. Greninja used the forearm pressed against his right shin as leverage, spinning in a counter clockwise circle and rising into the air, throwing his left leg down and crashing it into Jerry's skull, the force causing a shockwave to ring out, the concrete floor above the pool shattering from the force and sending him crashing to the ground at the bottom of the pool, the water from the melted ice splashing his fur and giving him a small boost of energy as he rolled to his feet.
He jumped back as Greninja came down with a flying kick, the frog's foot hitting the ground as he launched himself forward, slapping his thighs and throwing a flurry of Water Shuriken in Jerry's direction. The mouse released a pulse of electric energy, sensing that Swampert was still immobile in the PokeMart, something that lifted a weight off of Jerry's shoulders as he released a Thunderbolt, the jagged bolt of electricity vaporizing the shuriken, causing an explosion to ring out, the frog ninja flying through the smoke fast enough to dissipate all of it.
The two met by colliding their left fists, releasing another shockwave as they pulled back, both of them throwing right roundhouse kicks, their shins colliding as yet another shockwave rang out, the very foundation of the gym beginning to shake, Jerry cursing as his leg faltered, allowing Greninja to follow up with an uppercut to Jerry's abdomen, something that was followed up with a stiff right kick, launching him into the air.
Jerry cursed as the pain he felt increased, his worn down body slamming through the concrete floor, which had yet to fall, their speed surpassing the physics that would bring the material crashing down. Greninja shot up, spinning and using both Waterfall and Giga Impact, throwing a right kick as he closed in. Using nearly all of his remaining energy, Jerry used Volt Tackle to hinder his climb further into the air, as he was already outside of the gym. Spinning himself, he stuck his left leg out, both Pokemon screaming as their legs collided and the rain continued to fall.
From Krom's perspective, a lot happened. One second, Swampert was knocked from the gym and Jerry was wincing in pain, and the next, the concrete floor of the gym exploded, the gym shook, and multiple explosions, one from below and a larger one from above, rang out. Krom looked up, seeing the smoke as the rain continued to pour down, the electrical terrain slowly beginning to lose it's light, making Krom wonder if it's presence was linked to Jerry's own.
When the smoke dissipated, Jerry and Greninja were frozen in midair, their feet pressed together, and smoke emitting from their bodies. Both of them began to cough, smoke emitting from their lungs as they fell limply towards the ground, Swampert returning to the gym as they reached the ground, a pair of dull thuds to the bottom of the pool, their bodies masked by the smoke from the second explosion.
"Jerry!" Krom called, worried about the small mouse, who had released incredible amounts of energy for a newly evolved Pokemon who used to be so small and seemingly frail. When the dust settled, the two Pokemon had wobbled to their feet, both of them panting heavily and worn out. Swampert called out, jumping down into the empty pool.
Jerry looked up, realizing this and exhaling. I have to win before my terrain disappears. He thought, both Pokemon moving at the same incredible speeds. However, pushing his body even further, Jerry used Quick Attack, allowing him to outpace Greninja and throw a stiff left lariat into the frog's face, sending him crashing to the ground. He watched the frog rebound and reach his feet. However, he'd reached the ninja by then, grabbing him by the throat with both arms and chuckling him lightly into the air before driving both of his feet into the amphibian's chest.
The force sent him vaulting into the air at incredible speeds, the mouse able to nearly teleport into the air and grab the frog by the skull, his increased speed adding more force to his body as he swung the frog like a ragdoll before driving him into the ground, the crash shattering the concrete floor and damaging the foundation beneath it as the ninja was dragged across the floor. The flesh of his back was torn and mangled as Jerry lifted him into the air and screamed, throwing a right Thunder Punch uppercut that caused the ninja to scream as he flew back up, crashing against a small platform between the pool and the Gym Leaders.
Everything began to move at normal speed again, and Jerry jumped back to avoid the Swampert, who seemed rather agitated. "I don't know what kind of tricks you're using, but they won't work on me again." he said, and the mouse chuckled in response, his body numb from the incredible amount of pain he was in. Infact, the mouse was sure that due to his overusage of the fighting style Zekrom trained him in, he'd be unable to fight at full power for weeks, if not months. But his confidence was unwavering, and he chuckled as he looked at the mud fish.
"Would you fall for a new trick?" He asked, a smile on his face as he crouched down, prepared to use the final technique his Trainer's Father taught him. Rain, Electric Terrain, Three Agility boosts and lastly, Volt Tackle and ExtremeSpeed being used at the same time. I can do this. He thought, watching the mud fish scoff. "Not that you told me, you piss colored pest." he said, and Jerry chuckled once, exhaling as he narrowed his eyes. "Really? Because I think it'll be over in a flash." he said, vanishing from sight as he used Extreme Speed, running in circles to gain more momentum as he began to use Volt Tackle, roaring as pain exploded through his body, his strenuous fighting style only enhancing the natural recoil of the electric tackle.
Then, his speed reached the right point. He struck the Swampert with an uppercut, knocking him into the air, the force sending him flying above the clouds in less than half a second, the Swampert spinning around to notice that Jerry was already above him, the mouse's electrically illuminated smile appearing sinister in the mud fish's eyes as he was caught by the mouse's tiny hands and driven towards the ground.
"You idiot! You'll kill everyone in Cerulean!" he screamed, Jerry beginning to laugh as his speed continued to increase. "WRONG! Not a spec of that city will be damaged!" he screamed, watching confusion and fear come across the mud fish's face as the area around them began to change color, appearing akin to a rainbow of electricity, as if they'd passed into an alternate, electric dimension. Jerry exhaled, releasing the mud fish and vanishing into thin air, leaving the Mud Fish alone in this weird world, his mind numb in shock at what just transpired.
From Krom's perspective, everything happened rather quickly. One second, the mud fish and the mouse were screaming at each other, going back and forth for a brief span of time. And in the next instant, Krom realizing that everything happened in about half a second, the Mud Fish was gone, the electric terrain had vanished, the rain had ceased, and Jerry appeared at his side, panting and out of breath, clearly overexerted from his recent battle.
Violet blinked, realizing that there was no sign of her Swampert. She looked to Jerry, who began to laugh and shake his head before falling back, veins in his arms and legs rupturing from the amount of exertion he'd sustained, the mouse laughing as his own blood began to pool around him. The referee looked to Krom, who glanced to Jerry, who stuck his thumb up.
With that shimmering golden thumb in the air, illuminated by the sun emerging from the clouds, the referee lifted his hand. "Floatzel, Greninja and Swampert are unable to battle. The score is now 0-2, making Krom Hitoawa our winner!" he called, and Krom chuckled, clapping and lifting his right arm in victory before returning the mouse. A staff member of the gym ran over with his badge on a pillow, and he looked to it, chuckling and taking it, before turning to Misty's Sisters.
He bowed deeply, a respectful gesture that he did mostly to aggravate them. "I thank you for the chance to see how strong my Pokemon have gotten, and how much work they need to do. You have my thanks." he said, smiling and waving to the three girls before leaving, not even giving the announcer a chance to gather his thoughts.
Upon reaching the PokeCenter, he dropped off all of his Pokemon, waiting for a staff member to return to him with an update on their condition. He glanced to his belt, realizing that Sagat had yet to be used, and made a mental note to make him a prime player in his next Gym Battle, against his ally, Lt. Surge. A nurse soon came to him, bowing to him before speaking.
"Your Pokemon will all recover fine. Your Emolga and Pikachu will recover, but it will take weeks for them to be at full strength. Everyone else should be fine within a week." she said, Krom nodding in thanks as the pink haired nurse walked away, making Krom hum. So I can take my time getting to Vermilion, huh? I want Jerry to compete there too so that I can see exactly how strong he is. He thought, wondering if the incredible things he pulled off were situational, or if he could always do things like that.
He walked over to one of the phone booths, sitting down and wondering if he should call Simba and discuss Jerry's progress with him. However, as soon as he picked up the phone, his father's face appeared on screen, Krom blinking before remembering that his father was a God.
"How are things going?" he asked, and Krom shrugged, exhaling. "I won my second Kanto Gym Badge. Iris and Jerry are really beat up though." he said, and Zekrom chuckled. "Send Iris back to Pinwheel after she recovers. I'll make sure she's in better shape than before next time you see her." he said, and Krom nodded in thanks. His father narrowed his eyes and hummed, something that briefly made Krom worry. "And what of Jerry?" he asked, and Krom shrugged again.
"I have no idea. I couldn't understand what was happening. He was too fast." he said, and Zekrom smiled, as if happy that Krom said that. "He's doing well then." he noted, and Krom rose a brow. "Did you train him yourself or something?" He asked, and his father nodded. "I did. I trained him in an elevated form of Electric Type fighting that relies on heavily straining your body to have increased speed and force." he said, and Krom nodded. "And what about the part where he makes people's Pokemon vanish and appears next to me in half a second?"
Zekrom blinked, as if surprised to hear that as well. "I'm rather surprised he managed to accomplish it in half a second. The best he did in training was five seconds. Did he evolve during the battle?" he asked, and Krom nodded, making his father nod in understanding, the God finding all of this information rather amusing. "That explains it. You see, that's the highest form of utility at an electric Pokemon's disposal. It's called 'The Will of Thunder', and it gives the user access to many incredible abilities at the cost of life threatening strain on their bodies. One aspect of it is 'The Allfather's Brain', which is a pocket dimension that has many uses, including dropping opponents and leaving them, only for the electricity there to tear them apart. Quite painful to use as well."
Krom blinked before frowning. "So you taught my overweight Pichu how to move so fast he enters another dimension, and I've never gotten a birthday present? Incredible."
Within an hour, Homika and Orzhov arrived, and the Sneasel Halfling was glowing with pride and happiness, having demolished every single trainer to the north of the city with relative ease, the trio waiting for their Pokemon to recover before they chose to set out for the next Gym, causing them to inch closer and closer to the P1 Grand Prix, an event that was on his mind, even while discussing what to eat for dinner with his wife and child.
However, night fell on the town, and a lone figure maneuvered through the streets like a shade, moving without detection and without sound. It moved north, seeing a shimmering, moonlit bridge in the distance. Upon reaching it, the shade smiled, revealing teeth made sparkling white with Mjolnir Brand Toothpaste, the figure stepping out of the shadows and revealing hair that appeared to have been tended to by divine maidens, his long mustache braided in a fashion so perfect, many would assume it was braided by a goddess of hair.
And his shining eyes locked onto the shimmering bridge as his heavy, well made boots clattered towards the edge, seeing naught but gold all the way to the other side, not a single person or Pokemon on it, causing him to laugh, a sound so gravelly one would have assumed it came from the smithy of a forging god, his well treated, muscular hands digging into the ground by the edge of the bridge.
His muscles bulged, his lifeblood flowing through his veins like electricity flows through a city, his stout, stocky figure extending like the second floor of a house was being build, shooting up with enough force to tear the shimmering bridge from the ground, the being shifting it in his grip and laughing before vanishing into the shadows, the shimmering bridge consumed by the all consuming darkness he appeared from.
FINISHED! Good lords did this take forever, but I was really trying to put Jerry over and make him seem stronger than most of Krom's Pokemon, as I want to begin working on developing each of Krom's Pokemon as characters now that he can speak to them and I remember that he can do that lol. However, from here on, the story will begin to shift in structure as I aim for smaller, easier to read paragraphs and aim to clear up all of the things on my notes so that I can finish this story with no loose ends or issues.
However, I am working, so this will continue to take forever to finish, so please don't expect this fic to end this year. Or next year. Due to the length of this fic, I will aim to have it complete by 2020 at the latest. Can't lie. It'll take that long lol. Or will it?
Regardless, I sincerely hope you enjoyed this, and are looking forward to everything I have planned. I thank you eternally for your love and support. Jiro 'The Father Of Halflings' Uchiha
