A/N: Short One. Sorry. Also, the song is the beginning of Manowar's 'Die With Honor song'. Chek it out ;D

Jax was amazed by the Ionians. In less than two hours, they dispatched thirty thousand warriors, set traps, prepared the temple for defense and splat the army in six squads. The grandmaster was right now leading one of those five thousand men squads, like the other champions that once represented the island. He was given food and Soraka healed his eyes, because he might just go blind. The barbaric monk Udyr was saying he didn't need the warriors with him, but was forced to. As to how did Jax know that Noxus was coming, he didn't. Just something told him to say it and he did.

The grandmaster was puzzled as to how did he have the Wuju right now, but couldn't use it. Those ancient master of Wuju who talked to him said that he has to unlock the power, but he didn't know how. Well, it didn't really matter, for Jax had to fight to protect Ionia. This was a real challenge, knowing the numbers of Noxus, Piltover and Zaun would be satanic. Before they left for the points to defend, the warriors sang a song, that didn't sound Ionian but was still a song for battle. The text was:

If I should return,
With my body on my shield,
Tell my son I chose to die,
Than yield...
Though my life may soon be gone,
I hope, you'll carry on,
Remember me as one who would not kneel...
Fight with blood!
Fight with steel!
Die with honor,
Never yield!

And went on in the same spirit. Then they left, following the champion they were assigned to. Jax didn't think that his condition would allow him to participate in the battle freely, but if the battalion they would hold against had a champion, then he would have to fight so he could protect the defenders from him. But he didn't want to battle a champion, in that state he would surely lose. But he didn't want to. He wanted to survive, probably lead the Ionians to victory. He wanted to be with... Irie. Irelia. He had feelings for the beautiful girl that led the Ionians as an army.

Jax shook his head and looked forth, to the coast. Nothing was the same as he remembered, years ago, three actually, there were children playing in the water, building with the sand, while their parents talked on the beach. Now it was a Rocky waste, the sand moved back in order to make improvised barricades. The weather was sunny a few minutes ago, but now dark clouds were stacking over them.

He forced his eyes to look, so he could recognize ships or something. He saw what he didn't want to. Piltoverian and Zaunite aircrafts were flying towards the island, while Noxian ships were crushing through the sea. He called a messenger.

"They are coming. Tell the captain and others." He ordered the lad, wich ran towards the temple, where Soraka was preparing her healing magic, so she could support them from afar. Jax sighed and turned. The air ships were really fast, almost on the coast. He realized something. They were going to bombard them.

"Shoot the air ships! Shoot them!" He yelled. His voice and order echoed through the squad and the archers lifted their bows. The crossbows started shooting and got one of the air ships down, while the others were damaged. The Noxians reached the coast by that time. The hordes started pouring from the ships. Jax lifted his hand and started spinning the axe he was given. The warriors lifted their weapons and yelled. The hordes of Noxus were charging, their fierce battle cry shaking the ground. Jax didnt care, he ignored them and started at his charging opponent. Talon's blade was burning with mythic fire, while the famed Noxian assassin was sprinting towards the grandmaster at arms.

Jax started spinning his axe, awaiting the young man. Talon wasn't planning on focusing on the grandmaster at arms, so he just watched as the Noxians passed around him. Jax prepared and when they were about to smash him he released a force wave wich pushed them back. This allowed him to simply cleave through their lines, but was still saving most of his energy for the fight with Talon. The assassin was idly looking at him, examining every move of the grandmaster, searching for weaknesses and strengths. This was a wary opponent.

Talon disappeared in a second. Jax felt the blade that was going to stab his back and dodged, then turned, mauling the young man. The hit itself wasn't strong, but was the power infused into it. Jax had the advantage on using his marked third strike. Talon didn't even wince, he just staggered backwards and threw a few shuriken stars towards Jax. The grandmaster made a rainbow - like swing, with wich he blocked the stars and counter attacked, cutting Talon's cape and it fell off.

The assassin lunged forward, cutting Jax' left hand and putting the silencing rune on his skin. This wouldn't stop the grandmaster, but would only slow him. Although Jax was silenced, his eyes narrowed and he slammed Talon's stomach, cutting it and his insides started pouring out. This was the end for the Blade's Shadow. But then, he disappeared again, replaced by blades which flew in all directions, cutting through warriors and Jax' leg. They started hovering over the ground. The grandmaster looked at the blood trail left by Talon's body and mauled the air next to him. Bones broke and a last shriek left the assassin's mouth, the blades returning to him and cutting through Jax' left leg again.

He kneeled, his limb in pain. Then he understanded that Talon was a kamikaze. He would sacrifice or win, but it didn't matter because Jax' attention was away from the warring forces. This was clever, yet brutal. The Ionian armies were pushed back by the Noxian hordes, the grandmaster was forced to signal for retreat. They ran towards the temple, setting the road on fire so they could reach the building.
