Disclaimer: I do not own The Covenant. Just Sophie.

Sophie turned to look at Reid as they drove down the long stretch of road before them. He looked, calm. But she could tell he was worried. She reached over the center console that separated the driver's side from the passengers, placing her hand on his thigh she gave a gentle squeeze. She wasn't completely surprised when he hesitated before dropping his own hand down to entwine with hers, lifted their joined hands and kissed the top of hers, lingering before placing both down on his leg.

"Talk to me. Tell me what's going through that mind of yours."

He sighed, "They're going to hate me."

"No they're n-" "Yes, they are, Sophie. They think I've somehow corrupted you. I mean your uncle was pretty quick in his threats and the board has already elected to suspend me.. what will they think of that? Sure he's already puffed up his chest with pride and informed them of his glory on that front."

"Screw his front puffy chest thing! I love you. And when they get to know you they'll come to love you too."

He slowed the car to a stop, pulling off to the side of the road and turned to look at her.

She smiled, "What? Why'd you stop driving?"

He unhooked his seatbelt, closed the distance between them and pulled her into a searing kiss. When they pulled apart he nipped at her bottom lip and smiled, resting their foreheads together. "I love you too."

Sophie blushed, realizing it was the first time they'd actually said those three words to each other. But she would never take them back. He was determined to date her when they first met, she was resistant and closed off. Six months later and she couldn't ever imagine her life without him in it. "Get back to driving, Garwin. Still have an hour left if we want to make it in time for dinner." Her lips were tingling from his kiss.

After they pulled back onto the road Sophie gasped, "I almost forgot to tell you, Melody has a drawer at your place! She texted me last night freaking out that Tyler made room for her in his dresser." She paused and shrugged, "Took him long enough."

Reid grinned, "Maybe, but he's the youngest, Tyler has always taken longer to do things that the rest of us barreled through."

"I don't have a drawer." Sophie said, serious-faced and waiting for a response. Reid looked between her and the road. "This.. this is the time you decide we should talk about this? You're crazy." She laughed, "I know, I'm kidding. But you love me regardless, you can't take that one back."

They drove the rest of the way listening to music, making side comments and picking on one another to make the time go by quicker. When they pulled into a gated but decent neighborhood, Reid suddenly felt very nervous. Every house they passed it felt as if his heart only sped up beat by beat, by the time they reached her house he felt as if his heart would literally beat right out of his chest and he had to take a deep breath to steady himself.

He found her staring at him, "What?" He asked. "You okay?" She inquired. He smiled, "I'm great. Little nervous but great."

"Don't be. You have nothing to prove to them." He squeezed her hand, turned the engine off and got out of the car. She followed suit, still worried he wasn't really okay. Maybe this hadn't been the best idea after all. What if instead of proving her parents wrong they forced him out? Put doubts in his head? Her head? She took a deep breath and shook the thoughts away. Thinking that way wasn't going to help them get past this bump. She made a move to grab her bags from the back but Reid was faster. "Come on, you can't carry my bags every time!" He grinned. "Can and will. Now move it, think I saw someone peeking out from one of the windows." She took a quick look and turned back to him, "Well in that case.." And leaned up on her toes to kiss him, pulling away before he could properly return her affection, a devilish smile on her face as she turned and headed for the front door.

He adjusted their bags in his arms, slammed the trunk down and moved up the drive to the front door just in time to hear excited shrieks of hello from Sophie to who he could only assume was her mother. Who went from giddy to downright crestfallen when he rounded the garage and came into view. He had to give it to her though, she put her mask back in place just as quickly as it had fallen. "You must be Reid. Sophie speaks of you quite often during our calls, come inside, put those bags down."

Reid stepped across the threshold and placed their bags just inside the front door closing it behind him. He stood off to the side while every got in their hugs and hello's while he took a moment to take a good look around. Sophie stepped back and took his hand as she did so, "Mom, Dad, this is Reid. Reid these are my parents."

"Your home is beautiful, ma'am." He meant it, nodding at her mother and shaking her fathers hand. It was like any other home you would find on the block. Mahogany trimmings, vaulted ceilings, bright rooms with carefully chosen colors and curtains. Everything complimented the home, everything had a place, Reid could see how someone could like growing up here. Sophie grew up in a home. Reid grew up in a mansion. He definitely envied her home over his mansion.
