May finished pouring her heart out to Brawly and clutched at the sheet resting on her lap. When she looked at Brawly, she saw him resting his head in his hands.
Brawly, for his part, was trying to decide between crying and laughing. He had known for a while now that the girl was incredibly pure and innocence, but he had only just realized how pure she really was. He looked over at her and examined her face. Her sky blue eyes were wide, innocent confusion with a small amount of sadness making them just a bit wet. Her pale pink lips were trembling just the tiniest bit. He reached over and pushed some of her light brown hair behind her ear. "You know, when you make that face, you look about twelve."
The expression immediately turned into a pout as she shoved Brawly off the side of the bed. Brawly chuckled as he righted himself on the floor. He looked up at May, who had now crossed her arms across her chest. "May, this is something you need to discover for yourself."
Her bright eyes turned to him. "So you do know what this feeling is?" she leaned forward earnestly. "What is it?"
"May!" Brawly let his head fall back. "I just said that you have to figure it out for yourself!" He stood up and gave her a one armed hug. "Get some rest. I'm gonna go check on the Gym and run a few errands. You better be asleep when I get back." Brawly glanced over at the Whismur that was playing with a small stone next to May on the bed. "What are you going to do about the Whismur?"
May rolled onto her sighed and gently scratched the Pokémon between the ears. "Not sure yet." She grimaced, her head still bothering her.
Brawly rested his hand on her forehead. "Sleep. I'll be back later."

Brawly made his way to the entrance to Granite Cave and spotted the ones he had come to talk to.
"Hey."
Archie and Maxie looked over to see the local Gym Leader waiting for them with his Machamp. Each of them immediately rested their hands on a Poké Ball.
Brawly raised a hand. "I'm not here to fight you." He glared at them. "I'm here to warn you." He took a few strides towards them. "If you ever hurt May, it's not just me you have to worry about. On her journey, May has made quite a few friends. Very strong friends. You hurt her, we will rip the two of you apart."
Without another word, Brawly returned to his town, not even giving the two men a chance to respond. He stopped at the market and got some food before returning home and checking on May. He found her asleep, curled around the wild Whismur.
He smiled at the girl, his sister in all but blood. "You never can do anything the easy way, can you May?"

Author's Note: well. This took me a long time. My apologies. It's short, but it was a good place to stop and I didn't want to make you wait any longer. Excuse me while I go work on my other stories. I'm really sorry it took me so long.
I am not a writer! I am a puppet controlled by fictional characters!
