Chapter 2

Evie waited impatiently for Mal in the hallway next to their dorm room. Gosh, I know that we're both girls, but even I don't take this long to get ready, she thought to herself, looking down at her watch for the 10th time in the past who knows how many minutes.

Finally, after Evie had waited for what felt like an eternity, Mal emerged from their dorm and Evie was in awe of what she saw. Mal was wearing a dark purple dress with black ripped tights, combat boots and, to Evie's surprise, some dark lipstick that was a bit bold, but suited Mal so perfectly.

"Mal, you look..." she started, unable to find the word she was looking for.

"Awful? Hideous?" Mal interrupted. "I knew I shouldn't have worn this. I'll go change," she said as she started to turn back towards the door of their room.

Evie reached out and grabbed Mal's arm. "No, you don't look hideous. Not even close. You look beyond beautiful," she whispered, not even realizing that she was still holding onto Mal's arm.

Mal's pale face turned slightly red at the feeling of having Evie's hand on her. I mean, it was only on her arm, but still. There was something about it that just felt right. But I digress.

The two girls walked silently to breakfast and, once they'd gotten their food, sat down to eat until Mal saw her fiancé Ben walking by.
