Monday, July 2100 (cont.)

Andrey materialized on the banks of a narrow river. Tall trees with featherlike leaves and soft green hills surrounded him in every direction. Screeches of flying creatures filled the air. This peaceful glade was named the Woods of Turan Choks, for it was the place where Turan Choks and the FMM UV crew first landed on the dinosaur planet.

After selecting Parasaurolophus to hunt on the Dinosaur terminal, Andrey proceeded to select a DHC Shotgun from the Weapons terminal. He then decided to use a Radar for his first hunt, as the areas were unfamiliar to him. Finally, he pressed the button that corresponded to the Woods of Turan Choks on the Areas terminal. The automated female voice counted down from 3 before warping him to his hunting location.

Andrey brought up his radar. A red dot was moving slowly a few meters away from him. Andrey used the "Dinosaur Call" button on his DHC Communicator. A lively resonating trumpet came out. Andrey checked the radar again. The dot was moving closer and closer.

He hid behind the trunk of one of the trees. Looking over his shoulder, the Parasaurolophus was only a stone's throw away from him, scraping and nipping at the grass.

Andrey jumped at the opportunity, blasting the dinosaur with his shotgun, but to his dismay it was only hit in the stomach. According to the Dinosaur terminal, a Parasaurolophus' weak spots were its head, neck and chest.

The Parasaurolophus, realizing the danger it was in, bolted away, with Andrey in hot pursuit. Small creatures scurried out of the way as he chased his quarry.

In the end, Andrey stopped to catch his breath, but the creature attempted to scale a hill. Not willing to let his quarry escape him a second time, Andrey ran up to the creature while it was trying to climb and shot it again, this time in the neck.

The Parasaurolophus' eyes widened. It froze, tumbled backwards down the hill and fell on its side, dead.

As soon as the dinosaur died, a voice spoke from the DHC Communicator.

"Trophy coordinates received."

Andrey wiped the sweat from his brow. He sat on one of the hill's ledges.

Suddenly, he heard a rumble in the distance. It got louder and louder. Andrey looked up and saw the source of the sound: A giant V-shaped ship painted army camo green was hovering above his first kill.

A green-tinted tractor beam shot from the bottom of the ship. There was a loud warbling sound as the dinosaur's corpse was drawn upwards.

"Game trophy aboard."

The ship turned around.

"Moving to trophy area."

With another loud rumble, the ship flew out of sight with Andrey's quarry.

Andrey decided he was done for the day. He requested leaving from the hunt. Almost instantly, he was warped back to the DHC Hunt Selector room.

Feeling good about his first hunt, Andrey exited the room and walked through the waiting room where several more people were waiting for their first hunts.

Upon exiting the DHC building, Andrey realized there was still one thing he had to check out. He took out his DHC Communicator and selected "Trophy Room".

Andrey was warped to a small room that held the trophies of his kills. The open-air room was made out of orange stone and guarded by massive walls. A large protrusion rose from the center. In each corner, there was a small patch of grass that had one of the feathery trees seen in the Woods of Turan Choks.

The Parasaurolophus was a short distance away. It was still as a statue, but appeared to be frozen in mid-run. It was preserved in incredible detail, down to the bullet wounds in its stomach and neck.

As Andrey approached the dinosaur, a blue holographic sign spun into view, giving information on the trophy such as weapon used, time of death, name, size, weight and location hunted.

Andrey poked the creature's neck. It briefly flashed blue where he touched it and made a "zzt" sound. A hard light replica.

Andrey pressed the Trophy Room button again, warping him back outside the DHC building. He headed home. Today was a long day and he needed some rest after pursuing the dinosaur.

And that's Part 2!

Apologies for it constantly being removed and put back, there were some formatting issues I was trying my best to fix.

You might notice that the Trophy Ship (the Millenium Falcon-shaped hovercraft that picks up your trophies in the old games) now uses a tractor beam a la Carnivores HD and Reborn, instead of the classic crane/magnet used by the original. The reason I made that change is because I wasn't sure how to rationally describe the magnet working.

Taking a page from trophy rooms in Carnivores mods nowadays, APHE's trophy room has a bit of greenery at each corner to spruce things up a bit. The holographic sign display that popped up when Andrey approached his trophy was my way of rationalizing the trophy info pop-up from the original games.
