STILL YOURS

CHAPTER 4

Disclaimer: I wish I did.

A/N: Since all of you are wondering why Natsume did what he did, here's his side of the story! PS. Thank you for all your wonderful reviews!

A/N: This is the longest chapter I can give you for now. I tried to finish this last week, but failed to do so. But, tada! Expect longer chapters from me. PS. It's finally Valentine's day! Happy Valentine's day, everyone!

"She's cheating on you."

What did she just say?

"Who is?" Natsume asks the girl sitting in front of him. He didn't have time for her or her silly jokes.

"Mikan, duh. Who else?"

That name she just spoke of was enough to get him out of his trance. He looks at Luna dead in the eye. She didn't even quiver. She held her poise. "What the hell are you talking about, Koizumi? Are you even sure of what you're talking about?"

"When have I ever lied to you?" Luna says. Natsume raised a brow at her. "I mean, when it's this important." She continues.

Natsume stood up of his office chair and calls in his assistant. "Escort Ms. Koizumi out of my office and out of my building right away."

"Oh c'mon Natsume, don't be like this!" Luna complains, flipping her now long strawberry-blonde hair at him. Natsume's assistant didn't give a second thought and did as what she was ordered. "Call her. Or text her. I don't give a damn what you do. Ask her right now where she is. If I'm wrong, I'll leave and won't ever bother you again."

"I know damn well where she is, Koizumi. She's at home thinking about me." Natsume opened his office door, signaling his assistant that they should get out at once.

"Prove it then." Luna put her foot down.

"Fine then. I'll prove you wrong."

Natsume took his blackberry out of his pocket and checked for any messages from the love of his life. There was one message just sitting in his message box, waiting for him to open it.

So, what movie are we watching for our movie date today?

Pick me up at 5, okay? Can't wait to see you!

Wait, what the hell?

Natsume doesn't recall asking Mikan out for a movie date today? He remembers specifically telling her that they would go out tomorrow instead because of his busy schedule.

*Ting*

One new message.

From Mikan, again.

Oops, my bad. That text wasn't meant for you. Just delete it from your inbox.

Love you, Nat xx

What the hell?

What the hell just happened?

"So?" Luna interrupts his train of thoughts. She was almost out of his office. Almost. She was right by the door. But she wasn't budging from where she stood.

"It's from her. She's asking if we could meet up." Lie.

"Really?"

"Of course. She even told me to pick her up at 5." Another lie.

Luna looks at him in the eye. "You're lying to me."

"You're delusional that I would lie about my girlfriend. She loves me. She wouldn't cheat on me." Natsume's patience with this girl was at its peak and it was about to blow within a matter of seconds if she wouldn't leave his office.

"Fine, I'll leave you alone then."

Finally.

Natsume looks at his already scared assistant, signaling them to leave and call security if she resists. When his office door was finally shut closed, he stared at his phone. Could this be happening?

He decides to call her.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three.

Four.

"Hello?" A cheerful girl finally answered her phone.

"What the hell took you so long to answer?"

"Sorry, I was in the kitchen. What's up?"

Natsume couldn't believe his ears. He can not believe Mikan doesn't know what the hell is up.

"Oh, you know exactly well why I called you."

"Actually, no, I don't know why you called, exactly."

Natsume was losing it again. He was about to blow.

"Okay, let me tell you why I'm calling you."

"Please do,"

"You texted me a while ago, did you not?"

"I believe I did." Her voice was wandering away. He heard her laughing at the other end. "Oh, I get it now. Are you jealous?"

"I honestly did not believe you would get it just after a few seconds. And, no, why would I be? Should I be?"

He heard her doorbell ring followed by three soft yet loud enough to hear knocks. "Coming!" Mikan calls out. Natsume imagines Mikan running to her door, already in her pink bunny pajamas plus fluffy pink bunny slippers. It was afterall already 4:55 pm.

"You look lovely," He hears someone tell her. A guy. A guy at her front door.

"Who the hell is that Sakura?" He demands answers. He demands to be answered right now.

"I'll call you back, Nat, I better go."

And just like that, she hangs up.

She, of all people knows well enough not to hang up on the Natsume Hyuuga. That was just unforgivable.

What the actual f.

Is she even for real?

Natsume paces back and forth in his spacious, modern, CEO office. Natsume was mad. Natsume was frustrated. Natsume was jealous. But most of all, Natsume was hurt. Hurt by the fact that his girlfriend would dare see over men when they're still together.

But he wouldn't dare show that feeling around her or around anyone else.

He suddenly stops in his tracks (besides the fact that he's already getting quite dizzy), and thought to himself. Why would he spend his time worrying about such silly things when he could see it all for himself?

He thinks of the only movie house near the neighborhood and decides to go there. He decided to fight for the love of his life.

He grabs his phone, puts his jacket back on, and heads out the door.

His assistant quickly stands up, startled that her boss would suddenly think of going out of his office without a scheduled meeting.

"Cancel all my appointments today. Move it to tomorrow or the next day. I have to go somewhere important." He commanded with his cold voice. His assistant quivered, and just nodded her head.

But before Natsume could completely enter the elevator of his building, his assistant suddenly called out to him. "Ms. Koizumi wanted me to ask you if you were available later for dinner, Sir. What should I tell her?"

"Tell her nothing. But do tell the security not to let her in this building and not near my office without a proper appointment scheduled."

"Yes, sir. I understand." She bows her head and the elevator door closes.

As the elevator reached the parking lot, Natsume scans the huge space for his Black Bentley. Once he spotted his car, he quickly unlocks it, hops inside, and brought the engine to life.

He drove away with lightning speed, hoping to catch up with Mikan, and find out who her mystery date is. He decided to go to the movie theater instead of Mikan's apartment.

When he finally reached his desired destination, he quickly spots Mikan wearing a pink dress with a denim jacket over it. He looked at who she was talking to, and in an instant, he had his killing face on. Mikan was with a tall, blonde, American looking guy. They were standing near a dark blue BMW which he guessed was their mode of transportation.

He parked far from the movie house, but near enough to see them talking. To see them laughing. To see them smiling. To see them hugging.

What the fuck?

Natsume's anger was at its peak and in just a few seconds, it could blow and he would be able to do something that no one would want to see.

He takes a final look at Mikan and sees her with that huge grin plastered on her face. She looked so happy. The kind of happy look she has when she was with him, too.

He takes his phone out of his pocket, and texts her.

Where are you? I'm picking you up. Let's go out.

He takes a look out his car window and sees her take her phone out of her bag.

I'm busy right now, Nat.

Let's go out tomorrow, instead like we planned.

Love you x

And that was enough to make him lose his mind. She chose that guy she's with over him. She dumped her very own boyfriend for some guy who came out of nowhere.

He's seen enough and just decides to drive away. Leaving the love of his life with some guy she's finally happy with. Some guy who he thinks would finally make her happy, and treat her the way a queen should be treated.

He's ready to leave her alone if she's not happy with him. That was the biggest decision he had to make but he's willing to live a life without her with her happy rather than to live a life with her, while she's not even happy anymore.

/

Three months has passed ever since he saw what he saw. Ever since the day he lost the love of his life.

She still texts him, though. She would ask where he was, if he ate already, if he got home safely. She would text him that she misses him so so much and how much she loves him.

But he wouldn't reply. In other words, he ghosted her.

She tried calling him a bunch of times too but it always leads to voicemail.

It took all of his man power not to text her that he misses her. It took all his will not to call her and win her back. It took every ounce of his strength not to go to Mikan's apartment, knock on her front door, and kiss her senselessly.

He drives down her street every night ever since that day. He checks her window and sees her writing. Always writing and usually crying.

Natsume feels his heart break every time Mikan's tears run down.

"Why don't you try to win her back, Natsume?" Ruka asks his broken hearted best friend.

"Because it's for the best. This is what's best for her."

"How do you know what's best for her? Can't you see how sad she is without you?!" Ruka was shouting at Natsume for his stubbornness to see reality. "The poor girl is crying in her own room, for Christ's sake!"

"She's happy now, Ruka." Natsume tells his best friend and takes a good long drink of the beer he's holding.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Natsume's best friend was starting to lose his temper. "I'm going up there."

Natsume dared not stop his already furious blonde haired buddy. He watched Ruka take the still hot and untouched Starbucks cup from inside the car, and heads to Mikan's building.

"I'm going with you," Natsume follows his best friend to the elevator. "But I won't show myself. You talk to her. Make sure she's okay."

"You're such a weirdo."

As the elevator reached Mikan's floor, Natsume grabbed hold of Ruka's elbow before he stepped out of the elevator. "Say nothing about me being here." He warned and Ruka just nodded his head.

Ruka knocks on Mikan's brown door, hearing the loud music blasting from inside the apartment. Natsume could even hear it from where he was hiding—behind a fern (a classic Natsume move.)

Mikan opens her door looking sleepy. "What are you doing here at this time of hour, Ruka?"

"I wanted to give you this." Ruka says, handing Mikan the Starbucks cup with Natsume's name on it.

"And why would you do that?" Mikan asks, looking at Natsume's name written on the white Starbucks Venti cup.

"Well, I was in the neighborhood with Natsume and saw that you were still up, so I decided to bring you a good hot cup of coffee," Ruka smiles at her.

"Why does it have Natsume's name on it if it's you who decided to bring me coffee?" The brunette looked around the hallway, trying to see where Natsume could be, but he was nowhere to be seen, so she gave up trying.

"Actually, Natsume was the one who ordered it, but it was my idea to come and give it to you," Ruka seemed uneasy, taking small glances at where his jet black haired best friend was hiding.

"Oh, well come on in then, Ruka," Mikan says, stepping aside to give way to Ruka. "I'm just designing a project proposal. You're welcome to stay, if Hotaru wouldn't mind."

"No thank you, Mikan. I still need to pick up Hotaru from her office in 5 minutes. I just came here to check up on you."

"Thank you for your concern, Ruka, but believe me when I say, I'm fine." Mikan hugs Ruka tight and thanks him again for the coffee before closing the door.

Natsume walks up to Ruka, and out of nowhere hugs him as well.

"What the hell?" Ruka was in shock of what just happened but he knew well enough why Natsume did that.

"Sorry, I just miss her." Natsume explains.

"It's fine. Let's just go pick up my girlfriend before she unleashes hell to the both of us."

And after that day, Natsume never bothered to go back to her place.

Weeks later, a letter arrived in his office. It was from Mikan.

Dearest Natsume,

Whatever happened between us? What did I do to make you lose complete interest in me? Did I do something wrong? Please allow me to fix my mistake and swear that I will never do it again. Can we please go back to the way we were? But, I know you will never agree to that. You're too stubborn for your own good.

I miss your husky voice. I miss your soft black hair. I miss your smiles, your hugs, your laughs, your non-stop teasing, and your scent. I miss your presence. I miss you, Natsume. But most of all, I miss us.

If you did not know this yet, I will be leaving in a few days. I'll be moving to New York to study there. I got this offer a few months ago that I could not simply refuse. I will be leaving on February 14, Valentine's Day. I will be emailing you my new address there once I'm all settled in and also the address of my new school. Just in case you wonder where I might be.

I want us to meet a few hours before my flight. I will be waiting for you by the park. The park where we had our first date as an official couple. I know you know where that is. As part of the email, I will also include the time of my flight.

If you're wondering why I'm asking you this, it's all because I want to know why. Why you left me all of a sudden. Why you suddenly disappeared and when I finally see you again, I see you in a fancy restaurant with another girl. I want to know why you constantly ignore my messages and calls. Why you stopped replying to my emails. Why you suddenly left without letting me know. Why you abandoned me when I needed you the most. I want answers from you Natsume.

Most of all, I want closure.

If we can't go back to the way we were, I at least need a proper goodbye from you. I need you to tell me it's over so my heart can finally move on. Because I still love you even though I tell my heart to stop its non-sense. It's still choosing you after everything you've done.

I'll be waiting for you, Natsume.

Xo, Mikan.
