It's been three years and I thought I discontinued it because I didn't think this story was going anywhere but then suddenly the ideas hit me! Yes, this girl is back! And ready to finish the last two stories I have, one of them being this one!
So, to recap. After's house was broken into and Amy was to sick to fight off the burglar . Thankfully, Sonic overheard the break in and came in for the rescue!
Chapter 15: Mom
"Mom!" She screamed reaching her hand out into the dark nothingness. "Mom! Come back!"
Her eyes fluttered open. The light hit her eyes and she winced. It hurt. Not only her eyes, but another pain shot her body. Her back was hurting. She was lying somewhere soft as she groaned and her eyes adjusted to the light.
What happened?
Amy's eyes moved around to see she was facing the ceiling. Ah, so she had fallen asleep. She got up from where she was lying. Her couch. Oh, she was at her house. She had forgotten she was home. The living room was quiet and her windows were covered by curtains, but she knew it was day out, but early morning. She held her head and looked around when she was startled by a figure standing near the fireplace not too far from her.
A blue figure was looking up at a shelf above the fireplace where he was staring at a frame with a picture in it. Amy rubbed her eyes feeling confused as to why there was someone in her house. It took her a moment to realize it was none other than Sonic and she froze.
"Your fever is gone. I'm glad you're better." Sonic asked, his back facing her.
Amy didn't reply. What was going on? Why was he in her house? How did he get inside? Her heart began pounding against her chest in agony. Sonic finally turned. To her second surprise the look he wore fazed her. His eyes showed a soft look with a sort of sad smile, unlike his personality. Amy thought she was dreaming. That she had seen and been with him almost all month that her brain was now processing him in her dreams. But she was wrong.
Sonic turned back at the picture frame. It was a broken frame. "I'm sorry I broke it. It fell on my head last night."
Last night? She thought. And it hit her like a wave on a rock on shore. Hard and quick. Someone broke into her house last night. She saw the figure that tried to hurt her and get her stuff. She fought back and fell off the stairs trying to. Sonic must've came to her rescue. Amy's eyes widened and Sonic knew she retrieved a memory.
Amy got off the couch fast, ignoring the pain in her back. Her mouth opened intending to start kicking him out her house, but Sonic spoke before she even got to do anything.
"She's pretty. Your mom, right?"
Amy stopped half-way. Her eyes reach Sonic's and then the frame. Of a purple hedgehog on the picture holding a cute little pink hedgehog girl as she laughed. Sonic saw Amy's face go pale and freeze like a statue. Next to the frame was a small vase and a candle next to it.
"She looks around your age here. Pretty young," He continued smiling as he looked at the frame. "You got her bright eyes and her shimmering smile when you do smile."
Sonic turned to her with a weak chuckle, but Amy didn't follow along. Her features grew dark and she clenched her hands, her hands squeezing together until they went numb. "Get out," She began slowly.
Sonic was unruffled by her expression. He just didn't know what to say. He walked over to her and Amy backed away. "Stay away from me!" She threatened him, but only got closer and closer until he reached her. Amy grit her teeth as he stood in front of her, tall and calmly.
He moved his hands around her waist and brought her in for a hug, hiding his face in the crane of her neck. He could feel Amy tense up and gasp as her hands tried to push at his chest. "N-No," She stammered losing her composure.
"Thank chaos you're okay," He muffled, holding her tightly and feeling the muscles in his arms. He held her so tightly as if he were to lose her if he let go. Amy relaxed her tensed muscles, but began to shake.
"Let me go," She whimpered her hands slowly dropping, getting weaker. "Let go of me Sonic,"
Tears could be felt prickling at the corner of her eyes and her voice got tighter. In that blink of a second her whole world deteriorated and she lost all sense in herself. Amy hadn't cried in front of anyone in a long time and couldn't remember the last time she did. She was always so good at hiding her feelings and strong in appearance but it all came tumbling down. Why did she throw all that away for the very guy she was told not to get close to?
The room was filled with a small sob as Sonic held her tightly, hearing her voice as she let out all the stress she was holding in. The stress of her payments, work, school, friends, and her family. The only family she knew of. Sonic didn't know what happened and how long it went on like this for, but he knew one thing: Amy needed a friend and she had him.
.:xXx:.
A buzz echoed inside the whole house. It was his phone ringing on silent and he closed the door to Amy's room. After an abundance of tears Amy grew tired and fell asleep, still recovering from last night's fever and distress. Sonic looked over at the caller ID to see Tails was calling him. Sonic answered it right away.
"Sup Buddy," Sonic answered in a calm yet cheerful tone. He didn't want to wake Amy up.
"How's Amy?" Tails asked through the cell, concern in his voice.
"I don't wanna say she's fine, but I mean she's better." He told him as he walked away from her room.
"You're still at her house?"
"Yea," Sonic admitted walking up to the stairs and sitting on the first step. "I plan on staying with her for a bit, y'know just to make sure she's okay."
"That's good. She needs that. But I called to tell you that the police officers came and took her," He explained making Sonic's heartbeat pace a bit. 'Her' meaning the racoon robber lady.
"Good," He replied breezily.
"But um, I found of something you might be concerned with." Tails began warily bringing a new type of suspense. Sonic held his head with a sigh but allowed Tails to tell him. "That girl, she's Rouge's first cousin once removed."
Sonic's eyes widened and he raised an eyebrow. "Relatives?"
"Once removed. That girl is the daughter of her cousin. I found that out when I felt some familiar sense in her and did some research. I was begging to sense that it was maybe Rouge. The makeup, the style and abilities."
Sonic stood up a bit shocked from hearing this. So, did that mean...? "Rouge is behind this?"
"Huh? Wow, hey! You can't come to conclusions like that!" Tails gasped, the panic in his voice until he heard Sonic chuckle.
"You're Right. Sorry,"
"In any case, maybe it was coincidence but I'll look more into that. You don't have to worry about the rest. Cream and I can handle it." Tails assured him and Sonic smiled.
"Thanks Tails. You're the best!"
It was strange. Something like this hadn't happen before. Rouge was someone who held grudges but it never reached this far before. After the incident Rouge had with Amy could it had been that bad of a grudge? Sonic rubbed his chin and wondered why Rouge would want to harm Amy to that extent. Even more mysterious was how the raccoon robber lady knew where Amy lived?
It was strange indeed, but if Rouge had sent her cousin once removed to harm Amy, that meant Rouge probably sent her to be watched before the attack. Sonic clicked his tongue a bit annoyed. In conclusion, the raccoon robber lady was probably getting information of Amy and feeding it to Rouge.
"Amy doesn't like others knowing where she lives," He said aloud thoughtfully as he shook his head.
RING!
Amy got out of her classroom, head high and fashionable with her cute red dress and her fedora hat. School was done for the semester and it was winter semester. Everyone was excited to leave and go home and rest up, but Amy had work. She had no time to fool around. She headed downstairs.
From a far Sonic had already spotted her and walked behind her from a far, dodging everyone around him. He was so close to approaching her when a brown chipmunk reached her side first. He stopped and turned immediately into a different hall.
"Amy!" Sally locked arms with Amy with a grin and Amy forced herself to give the same look.
"Are you girls still going to the Party?" Amy asked walking the last steps of the staircase and reaching the bottom floor. A few girls rubbed against Amy's shoulder getting through and throwing her off balance. "No, I found out who's running that party."
Amy bit her lip and looked to the side. Knuckles was making that party and she was thankful she found out because she didn't want Sally taking her girls and getting into any problems. "We're spending time with our families." Sally told her and Amy grinned moving her hat a bit to see Sally's face clearly.
"Good! I'll see you guys over winter break, right?" Amy asked turning around a corner and stopping for a bit. Sally stopped too and hugged her friend. "Of course! The girls are thinking of having a sleepover at my place. I'll text you."
"Okay see ya!" Amy waved as her friend broke the hug and walked away. Everyone was walking away and heading out school. She sighed and shook her head. She needed to get to work. She turned the other way only to get spooked by Sonic who stood in front of her with a smile looking past her and at Sally.
"You aren't going out with her somewhere this time?" Sonic asked.
"No, I have work," Amy muttered, her eyes avoiding his. She walked around him not wanting to talk to him at school.
"The bar place?"
"Shh!" Amy hissed rapidly turning to him. "Could you please leave me alone? I don't want to deal with you right now,"
"Then will you deal with me later," Sonic teased with a grin. Amy turned around ignoring him completely and going to her locker.
Sonic approached her side. "Are you going to Knuckles' Party?" he asked.
"No, I want to stay home," Amy replied simply.
"Can I come over?"
"Sonic, please go away before someone sees you with me," Amy told him a little tired of having to repeat herself all the time with him, but she couldn't yell at him at school. She didn't want to make a scene.
Sonic chuckled a little to Amy's confusion but he shook his head and crossed his arms. "You know I'm really careful about this. I told you I would be. Is it really because you don't trust me or you don't like me?"
"Both,"
"Ouch, that kinda hurt," Sonic muttered, his hand on his chest faking a hurt expression.
Amy finished doing her business at her locker, shut the door, turned around and he was still standing next to her. His smile cheesy as ever and posture as confident as he can be.
"I don't even know what to tell you anymore," Amy mumbled to herself in defeat. Sonic was so tenacious.
"You don't have to tell me anything," Sonic looked around the hall and didn't see a single familiar face before he grabbed her hand. "Just come with me,"
"W-Wait▬"
Sonic pulled her to the side and down a corner where hardly anyone stood. Amy held her backpack tightly as it almost fell off her back. Amy yanked her hand away and she was about to scold him when Sonic grabbed her back and with the other hand scooped Amy into his arms from under her knees. Amy yelped from his bold and quick movements and held her hat as it almost fell too. If she didn't have quick reflexes she would've dropped both her bag and her hat.
"What are you doing?!"
"I'm taking you to work!"
He didn't give her a chance to argue back. Sonic rushed out from school and onto the street within milliseconds. Amy hid her head with her hand that she held tightly. The wind and the loud sound stop soon and Sonic was standing in town before she knew it. He held her in his arms grinning down at her and Amy stared back at him with wide eyes.
Something confused her at that moment and it could've been the sun's gleam or his radiant smile, but her cheeks felt hot and she grew embarrassed. Sonic placed her down and placed his hands on his hips facing the Bar she worked at.
"See now you don't have to worry about being late," He gaily turned to her showing her a something similar like an 'I-told-you" look.
"Why are you doing this?" Amy's frank tone changed the atmosphere although Sonic didn't stop smiling. He had a bunch of reasons why he was doing this, but it all came together to one title.
"Well," he raised his hand up to rub his chin as to think. "You're my friend,"
He'd said that answer before, but when he said it this time something was different. Amy cleared her dry throat and fixed her hat. While glancing to the side avoiding his stare she murmured, "I guess that's a good answer,"
Sonic ears perked. Amusement filled his features and he leaned forward. "It is, isn't it,"
Amy could feel it again. Her cheeks and her throat getting dry. She pushed past him shaking her head. She couldn't let another emotion reach his eyes. She'd allowed to much for him to see already. Amy left him and entered the bar.
"I'll text you," Sonic shouted out with a quick wave but Amy never turned back.
He watched her leave until she was no longer in his sight. Then he frowned. He didn't like the idea of Amy working at a bar all because she carried a lot of responsibilities. He crossed his arms and wondered if there could be a better job he could help her find.
"Hmmm…"
His fist hit the palm of his hand. "Ah!"
Amy arrived home tired out of her mind. She closed the door to her house and turned on the lights feeling scared of the dark. She turned to the broken frame above her fireplace. A small smile appeared on her lips.
"I'm home, mom."
She set aside her bag and walked over to the couch to fix a pillow out of place and sighed looking around the empty room. How weird, she thought. Somehow it felt quieter and emptier than normal. An imagine popped up into her mind of Sonic holding her on the very spot in front of her. Amy gasped and waved her hands away as to clear away her thought bubbles. She growled.
Lately, her mind's been infected with Sonic's imagines. She couldn't stop thinking about him, couldn't act normally anymore and her walls were breaking piece by piece. It was all so new to her that a guy could make a big effect like that.
But, it was like she enjoyed being held, being comfort…
She enjoyed him.
Amy gasped again and waved her arms around making all those thoughts go away. She needed control.
A knock spooked her. It came from the door. Amy bit her lip a little afraid to open the door thinking it was someone coming in to harm her. She clenched her arms ready to pull out her hammer to fight and backed away not saying anything.
"Amy? It's me, Sonic."
Amy lowered her arm and blinked muddled. She rushed to the door and opened it to reveal Sonic standing before her in the middle of night. She looked up taken aback and Sonic laughed seeing her shocked. Amy cursed her mind for thinking about him because now he was appearing everywhere.
"Can I come in?" He asked sheepishly.
Amy stepped to the side. "Mobians like you are called stalkers,"
"I'm not a stalker. I'm your guardian." He said eloquently. "And I've come to keep you company,"
"On second thought, you should turn back around before I knock you out myself." She threatened him but he shut her up when he moseyed up to her.
"I'm not here to be funny," Sonic suddenly said, using his hand to close the door. Amy backed away from his serious look. "I'm serious about keeping you company tonight."
Amy's eyes widened and she covered her body with her arms feeling nervous. "S-Sonic-"
"W-Wait that's not what I meant!" Sonic exclaimed with bits of chuckles in his sentence. He held his head as Amy blushed and looked to the side to cover her face with her arm. What was going on?
Sonic stopped laughing and went over to one of the couches to sit down. "So, you don't have to be lonely."
Amy scoffed and her arms fell. "Being lonely is the least of my concerns."
Sonic smiled and used a cushion to put between his criss-cross legs. He leaned forward with curiosity in his eyes. "I don't want you to be lonely."
Amy's breath hitched as he chuckled at her. Amy blew air to the side and went over to him. He watched as she arrived up to him. He stood up quickly. He was much taller than Amy, by a few inches, but she still had to raise her head up to look at him. She was so close to him, but out of pride she didn't moved back.
"Fine," She said in defeat. She pointed at the couch. "But you sleep here,"
Sonic burst out laughing, "What?! You thought I was going to go sleep with you?"
"You are so immature!" Amy spat at him.
Sonic shrugged and sat down on the couch. He closed his eyes and breathed in air. Amy rolled her eyes and hesitated to sit down next to him so she took a step back instead. While reopening his eyes Sonic looked up at the picture of her and her mother.
"Your mom, she looked like a nice lady," Sonic told her.
Amy stayed silent for a moment, but soon closed her narrowed eyes. "If you get hungry later feel free to eat as you please. Good night."
She turned around barely finishing her sentence, but Sonic interjected, "How long has it been like this?"
She froze, but then slowly spoke, "Sonic, that doesn't concern you."
"It does when you're hurting and haven't let me in on what's going on," Sonic's tone was serious and firm unlike his character. She hated when he showed her that side because she knew she wasn't in control.
She spun around about to speak but he was again right in front of her which spooked her. Amy grit her teeth and clenched her hand. "Because I haven't known you for very long."
Sonic raised his eyebrow. "But Cream has."
Amy's anger subsided.
"Yet she still doesn't know why your mom didn't come home last night."
Her heart pounded about the fact that Cream didn't even know what was going on. Didn't Sonic tell Tails or Cream? Or the Police. She saw Sonic staring down at her and she sighed.
"Cream already has problems of her own. She doesn't need to hear mine." Amy replied.
"That's not the point." Sonic told her and grabbed both her hands to Amy's surprise. "Cream is your best friend. You not telling her anything is already a problem to her, don't you think? She's worried."
"Sonic," Amy began realizing their hands were still locked so she took her hands back. "It's not as easy as you think,"
There was a crack in her voice. Something unfamiliar and Sonic's heart almost leaped out of his chest. It was hurting her more than he realized. He scratched his head and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry. I'm worried myself,"
Amy moved her bangs to the side and tucked them behind her ear. "Listen, I'm fine on my own. Graduating High school is my biggest priority right now and what happened with my mom…I promised her I wouldn't let this hurt that. "
Sonic's eyes narrowed slightly in confusion.
"I-In any case, please let this go. It's late and I'm tired. See you in the morning." Amy turned around and head towards the stairs.
"Amy," Sonic called out.
Amy turned her heel. "What?"
Sonic stood there looking at her with a smile. "If you need anything don't forget I'm here okay?"
Her tensed muscles relaxed and she sighed. "Good Night,"
She turned around to head to her room when Sonic spoke, "Sleep tight,"
Amy got goosebumps in hearing his voice say that. She didn't know what was going on with her, detailing him in on her emotions. She was unable to control that side of her anymore. There was something about the way he acted with her that was so gentle and compassionate that she was melting away at even his touch. She held her head tiredly as she reached the second floor.
Re-read and review please! Should I continue or not?
Until Weeks Pass.
See ya!
