Haapppyy 2021!
It hasn't been that long since I've updated, but since I'm finishing these chapters quicker, I feel like its time to wrap this story up.
This is my last semester being a college student and for those who are still in high school and going into college, be prepared. It's lots of hard work, but let me tell you, it is waaaaay better than high school! It's a dream.
Please enjoy my low-level writing XD!
Chapter 19: Next Level
The door opened and Amy walked into her house. She stepped to the side to let Sonic in and then she closed the door. It was that time again. Finals.
She forgot that she had finals coming up soon and she hadn't had time to study. She was working in the afternoons at Sonic's Uncle's place and then she'd come home late only to wake up early for school again.
She has been busy for the past few days that she'd almost forgotten Sally was a concern to her. She hadn't seen Sally since her encounter with her. She felt glad, but she also felt like she was avoiding her. Amy was usually head-on about situations, but this one felt different to her. It lingered in her mind, deterred her from any confrontation.
"Wow! The privilege of having you personally invite me over to study…" Sonic began with much tease in his voice. "I was beginning to think you didn't like me,"
He watched Amy rolled her eyes at him and he mentally sighed. She continued with: "You can sit at the table over there. I'm just going to go get my stuff upstairs,"
Sonic chuckled.
Amy had gotten to the point where she didn't even mind his badinage. He'd tease her and she wouldn't budge, but she was avoiding one thing. The topic of the kiss. Ever since their kiss, Amy hadn't spoke about the matter and whenever he'd try flirting, she'd shut him down. She wouldn't feed his flame. He, on the other matter, didn't know how she felt and he was growing a bit impatient.
Being invited into her house was definitely something he wasn't expecting. When she came up to him one afternoon, asking if he wanted to come over to study, he was filled with everlasting joy. The last time he was at her house was a long while ago. His thoughts shifted to when her house got broken into, but he shook that thought away quickly. They had finals coming up soon and it was important they get on the right track.
Once Amy came back, she placed her backpack on the table and took out all her materials. She got ready to start her work, but she felt eyes on her. She looked up to see Sonic smirking at her.
"Yes?" She asked with the annoyed tone she'd use with him.
"Nothing, just that you look a lot happier these days," He said smiling too brightly to Amy's liking.
"I am," she said, "Can't you tell,"
She stared at him in deadpan which made Sonic sighed. "Not really," He nervously replied.
"You said you wanted to study. That's why I invited you. Not for you to be weird," She scolded him and He bite his lips, but didn't say anything. She started to sound annoyed and didn't want her to. His eyes averted and he opened up his books to begin studying. Amy did the same.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. They worked in silence and without looking at each other. Amy finished one of her assignments and she gave herself a little break. Her eyes came up to see Sonic writing something on his paper. She felt herself dose off as she stared at him.
He was attractive. His quills were smooth and well kept. He was even more attractive when he was focused in his studies. It had been a while, but Amy knew herself to like Sonic. She could never truly admit it, because then Sonic would react to this. He'd start teasing her and flirting even more than he would now. Right now, wasn't the time for this. Everything was wrong and them being together could cause problems.
Sonic's eyes peaked up. "You okay?"
His words brought her back to reality and her eyes widened. "Yea. I was just resting my eyes from the paper."
He smiled and got up from the chair. He stretched his legs and then his arms. "You hungry?"
Amy shrugged. "Just a little."
"I'll make you something. What you feeling like?"
"Make me something…?" Her voice trailed off somewhat caught off guard. She did store food in her refrigerator and there was plenty of food.
"Let's take a break. We'll study again once having dinner." He said with a wink.
Amy got up from her chair. "Alright,"
They both went into the kitchen. Amy showed him the fridge and all the stuff inside. Sonic decided he'd make simple pasta, because Amy still lacked a few other ingredients. It had been a while since she'd gone to the market. She'd been so busy with work and school, that she hardly had time.
Sonic whipped up the pan with oil and on the other burner boil some hot water. Amy helped cut some tomatoes and onions on the side while Sonic cooked the meat balls. Amy couldn't help, but feel comfortable being beside him. It almost felt like they were a couple cooking food together.
Amy stopped cutting the vegetables on the cutting board. She couldn't believe she just thought that. A couple. Her and Sonic. There was no way! She peeked over at him, who was boiling the pasta. Did Sonic even like her in a romantic way? He was always flirting, all fun and games, but was he serious? She resumed to cutting and shook away that thought.
Making Spaghetti didn't take that long. Sonic stood at the counter eating his spaghetti and Amy sat on a stood not too far away from him. Amy took the first bite and she was a bit impressed.
"Not bad," She said with much approval in her face.
Sonic leaned forward and grinned. "A compliment? Wow, what sweet words those are."
Amy grabbed a meatball from her plate and threw it at him, only for him to catch it and pop it into his mouth. Amy made a face, but chuckled.
"Tails loves to cook, so every now and then I learn a receipt or two." He said confidently.
"I've heard that Cream loves Tails' cooking. She always tells me about the snacks he makes when they go on picnic dates." She began to wonder about Cream and how happy she was with Tails. It's been a year since they've been together and those two acted like a married couple.
"We should go on a date,"
Amy almost chocked on her spaghetti and she threw daggers at Sonic with her eyes. She wanted to smack him for saying that, but she instead rolled her eyes.
"Or would you rather kiss me again," Sonic smirked as Amy eruptively got up from her seat.
"We should really go back to studying!" Amy growled under her breath.
"Amy," Sonic began, but Amy interjected, "What,"
"We kissed that night. We can't keep ignoring it," He finally said. It felt like he had released a ton of weight from his heart. It was driving him crazy that he didn't know how she felt. That she didn't know how he felt for her.
"I'm not talking about this," She spat, turning and walking away.
Sonic bite his lip a little frustrated that she was trying to change the conversation again. He stopped her dead in her tracks when he replied, "You run up, hug me, and then kiss me?!"
"You kissed me!"
"But you kissed me back!"
Amy flinched. "You…"
Sonic walked up to her until they were inches apart. "I'm not going to keep pushing it back. Amy, we kissed, but you keep acting like everything is normal."
"Because it is," She pleaded almost as if she wished he wouldn't continue talking about it. "That was an accident,"
"An accident…" Sonic repeated astound, his eyes narrowed and an unrecognizable pain pounding in his chest. "You and I both know you enjoyed that!"
"I did not!"
"Then why did you kiss me back,"
"I-I…I didn't kiss you back. I was just surprised, because you don't even kiss that great."
"Oh, and you know what a great kiss should be like?"
Amy blushed, but she stood her ground. "Yea I do,"
"I'm probably your first kiss."
"No, you're not!"
"I could tell," He razzed. "You don't kiss that great either,"
Amy's cheeks fumed and she approached him, head on. Her eyes glared at his jade eyes that seem to sparkle right back at her.
"To think, you probably kissed every girl in school! You think I'm going to like kissing someone like you!"
They were both stubbornly unwilling to give up losing to one another, but at the same time they had already lost. They both knew how they felt for one another, but one was unwilling to accept it and the other wasn't allowed to express it so openly. His eyes softened first and he sighed. She didn't get it. She couldn't tell. He rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish expression.
"Amy, I don't go around kissing girls I don't like."
Amy gave him a hard stare, and it was silent for what seemed an eternity. Sonic never released his sight off her and stared back with the same intensity. Then her expression gave in to a softer look than Sonic's. Her cheeks were suffused with color and Sonic knew her anger had subsided.
"I'm sorry I said that," She apologized, averting her eyes.
A smile broke across his face as he went and cupped her chin up to face him again. He raised his other hand to touch her cheek so lightly she thought she might have imagined it.
"I like you a lot Amy," He admitted finally. He winded his fingers through hers, clamping them together. She felt her throat dry up and a large lump of air get stuck in her chest. She also felt all blood rush to her cheeks. "That's why I kissed you. That's why I tease you. That's why I'm always there. I've been meaning to ask you to be mine, but you haven't given me a chance."
Like a vortex, she found herself getting lost in his eyes and it was getting harder and harder for her to speak to him. She was stuck in time unable to respond. She saw herself being asked out by someone and now here she was. She liked this hedgehog in front of her, but after everything that happened, if they were to start dating, Sally and the girls would make it a living hell for them. She couldn't.
When she didn't reply nor pull away from him, he leaned in slowly to her face, daring to do something risky. He stopped inches away from her lips that she could smell the mint scent of his breath. He gazed at her eyes and then at her lips almost as if asking for permission. She stared back with the same daze. Despite everything she had thought, she didn't push him away or turn her head like she'd always do. She allowed him to slowly press his lips onto hers which made her heart melt and her knees grow weak. His mouth was so warm and his lips so soft she couldn't stop kissing him back. He moved slowly and carefully hoping not to scare her, but she responded compliantly to his surprise. His eyes opened half way to see hers shut tightly. Her cheeks flushed and her body stiffened. She was becoming nervous. He moved his face back a few inches so their lips weren't touching anymore. Her eyes flung open wondering why'd he stopped. He licked his lips, his hand touching her cheek and his finger brushing off her lips.
"You kissed me back," He stated.
Amy cleared her throat and mumbled. "So,"
"So, can we do it again?" He asked.
Amy bit her lip a little embarrassed, "Maybe,"
Sonic grinned and leaned once more, this time, plastering his lips harder on hers. It was clear they both felt some kind of connection. His hands rushed down from her checks to her shoulders and then to her hips without missing a beat in their hearts. Amy wrapped her arms around his neck as she immersed in the kiss. They slowly reached a wall and Sonic pushed her against it. She jumped onto him, wrapping her legs around his waist.
"Amy," He gasped in between kisses.
She wouldn't stop. Their kiss went from a soft touch to an aggressive on and Sonic didn't know what was going on. He didn't want it to stop, but when Amy didn't stop, he pulled away and their lips smacked. They both gasped for air they were lacking. His breath sent shivers racing through her whole body and she didn't want it to stop.
He looked in her eyes searching for uncertainty, but he found her eyes full of vigor and life. She knew what she was doing and she was allowing him the desire as well.
Sonic couldn't help but think how beautiful she was. How long he'd waited to kiss her and hold her the way he was holding her now. How long he waited to show her his true feelings he'd been holding back for so long.
Amy on the other hand was losing control. She didn't understand why'd she'd given in, but she liked it. She was going in and out of her head, questioning why she was getting carried away.
Maybe she was tired of abiding the rules of others.
Maybe she didn't want to care about anything, but the moment she was finally sharing with someone who cared about her.
Maybe all she needed was to feel something.
Although, she couldn't help, but feel guilty at the back of her mind, as Sonic carried her upstairs, that her mother was watching. And was disappointed.
She wished it'd stop.
She wished it'd stop.
But she couldn't stop…
She actually wanted this.
Sally searched for Rouge's cousin inside a bar. It was late at night on a school night and she was looking for an orange racoon. Sally felt uncomfortable seeing so many Mobians getting drunk, or high. She hated this part of downtown, but she came here to do business.
She found Rouge's cousin. She was in the corner of one of the rooms and with company. Two other large guys talking to her, and Sally hesitated at approaching her at that moment. Maybe this was a bad idea.
The orange racoon noticed someone standing uncomfortably in the corner of her eye and when she turned, she recognized the figure. She hummed curiously to see a customer.
Their eyes met and Sally was forced to approach her.
"Need something sweetheart," She asked. Her lips were dark red and her eye shadow was light blue. The guys turned around and got up, walking away from them. Sally walked to the couch and sat next to her.
"Yes. I heard you're very good at obtaining information from others." Sally said in a matter-a-factly.
"I am,"
"I also heard you're good at revenge," She continued
The racoon grinned intrigued. "What are you looking in for?"
"I first want to know some information about a certain blue hedgehog. Fast runner," Sally began a little anxious to get answers.
"Ahh," The racoon's eyes lightened up. "I've encountered him. Recently got out of Juv(juvenile hall), no thanks to him,"
Sally raised an eyebrow. She had some beef with him then. "I think he's dating one of my frien—I mean, someone I know. I want them to split. I want to see everything fall before him,"
"Hmm, I get it. I might have info on him and although we both want to see him fall, asking me for favors cost, Hun."I have info on him and, although we both want to see him fall, asking me for favors cost, Hun" She told her.
Sally got up from the couch. She knew that asking for this much would post, but in a way, this girl was looking in on getting some revenge herself. Sadly, she couldn't touch Knuckles cause of Rouge, but getting at Sonic would hurt not just Knuckles, but Tails who took Cream and Amy. She'd be killing two birds with one stone. Or more like a flock.
"I don't have money right now, but I can make payments. Oh, and also, Rouge says hi,"
The racoon smirked at the retrieving figure.
At the far end of the room, a pair of blue eyes watched Sally leave. Those eyes closed in disappointment.
LKHLBHLBOOUO!
So, I went an extra step here, because I'm old enough to write something like this now. Unlike when I was in high school, I wanted my stories to be purer. I love cute moments, but I think it was time!
Sonic has liked Amy for so long and only now is she reciprocating those feelings back to him.
Also, I've never pointed this out, but these eyes keep appearing. The first appeared in the 4th chapter and then appear every now and then. Has anyone captured that ?

I am on track to finish this story! It's been too long and I need to get it done! I hate this process, because then I start rushing the story. Let's just hope I can manage!
Until Weeks Pass.
