November 2017, Knowhere
"I...collect things from all across the galaxy. The Infinity Stones...are a priced collection. Yet...you just stole the only one I have." I looked behind him. We were in what was probably his office in his museum. Behind him was a window overlooking Knowhere.
It was a space Madripoor.
"I have a...theory." I looked at the Collector. "A few years ago, Asgardians came to give me the Reality Stone. They already have the Space Stone on Asgard, it is not wise to keep two stones so close." Come to Earth buddy, come to Earth. "It had just...wrecked havoc on Terra. My theory is that you, a terran with already advanced genetics, was touched by some of its energy. Your powers changed and now, the Reality Stone recognized you as its...rightful owner, as if it had wanted to modify your powers enough for you not to die a slow and painful death once inside of you."
That...actually made a lot of sense.
"Why would it have chosen me?"
"Probably because it saw a compatibility between your powers and what it granted you." I could pull matter out of thin air. Wasn't it some kind of...telekinesis upon molecules?
Was it...what it saw in me? The potential to push my telekinesis, already my oldest and most developed power...to such extent? I mean, I learned about human physiology and could like, stop someone's heart and create heart attacks, but it was the kind of things I had not done in years.
Damn you Aksel, you crazy old bastard knew how to exploit me.
"Now, what am I going to do with you? You are a lot more valuable than I thought."
"How about you let me leave and find my friends with the stone so you can live?" He merely raised a brow.
"A...threat? Against me?"
"Not a threat from me, but do you want someone like, I don't know, Thanos to come here and take the stone?" He paled.
"The Mad Titan?" I blinked and shrugged.
"I guess."
"I knew there was something in the making," I heard him whisper to himself as he started pacing. "Now Odin is dead…" He looked at me suddenly, the crazy glint in his eyes not escaping me. "You can't do much against him."
"I'll find a way. You help me and we get rid of Thanos and you'll continue your little...big, collection." He pursed his lips and took a few steps forward.
"And how are you planning on defeating someone you know nothing of?" I raised a brow.
"I'll find a way. Once I've found Thor."
"An Asgardian? How...not surprising. Tell me what I'd get if I let you go with the stone?"
"I told you already. I deal with Thanos."
"I want your corpse." I looked at him weirdly. "The probability of you dying in the process is very high. I want your corpse. It will be a brilliant item." I didn't want my corpse to be exposed...here but…
"Alright." I shook his hand begrudgingly. "Should you sell me off, I'll make you pay. I don't know how yet, but I will." He grinned.
"I'd like to see that, terran." I pursed my lips and looked at the Reality Stone's box.
"Do you happen to have something the size of the stone?" He raised a brow. "To cover my tracks."
He brought me what I needed. I levitated the rock he brought above my right hand. I stretched out my left hand, remembering the Reality Stone.
It materialized in front of me. I shook my head so I didn't focus on that.. The size was the same, as well as the shape, good. The Reality Stone disappeared.
"Okay, I can...I'm sure I can find something. Gimme a minute." The Book of the Vishanti replaced the Reality Stone, appearing in a dark red light.
It was the one advanced book I was allowed to read, use and learn from.
"A magic user," Tivan commented in an interested tone. "You're getting more and more interesting terran." I did my best to ignore him, although I still shot him a glance from the corner of my eyes.
I turned the pages of the book with telekinesis. I needed to hide the stone's signature from my own and create a 'replica' of the stone in the regular rock Tivan gave me. It was the Reality Stone, it had to be able to do it.
Here. Relic replica.
I was panting by the time I was done. I had extracted some of the Reality Stone power and sealed it in the rock, before using a transmutation spell to give it the Reality Stone's appearance. I looked at the replica.
The power radiating from it was the same as the Reality Stone. It even turned into the Aether before we put it in the box.
"It has less than a tenth of the stone's power, but it's still big. Thanos will come get this one one day, you might want to leave before."
"I sure will." I looked at the book.
The Book of the Vashanti was mainly defensive spells, so I should…
Haha! Camouflage! Now...here, cosmic energy camouflage.
I sent myself in the wall by accident, the air knocked out of my lungs. I blew on a strand of hair that was on my face.
"It doesn't happen usually."
"There is a chance the Reality Stone is messing with your powers and the control you have on them." I blinked.
"Oh no." I tried to make a portal but stopped quickly when Shuri's stabilizer went dead. There was a big 'OVERCHARGED' on the screen.
Okay, it was messing with my magic. I stood up and dusted myself.
"Okay...how do I find them now?" I looked at Tivan. "You don't happen to know where you'd land if you were pushed from the Bifrost?" Because honestly, Loki and Thor were both beaten by their big sister.
"Sakaar." I blinked. "Every...garbage from the galaxy ends up there." He pursed his lips and looked at me. "Actually...the Contest of Champions might help you."
"The Contest of Champions?"
"Held by the Grand Master," he explained. "If you want to defeat Thanos, you might want to train a little beforehand."
"And from your tone I'm guessing you can get me inside that contest easily?" He shrugged.
Having adventures in space was not in my plans.
Sakaar Day 17, Sakaar
"There you are there you are!" I remained unfazed as a guy with the same fashion style as Tivan walked toward us prancing around.
I looked around us once out of the space ship. Having Tivan as an...I didn't want to call him an 'ally', but as someone who...was helping me I guess? Anyway, it had its perks, especially when I didn't know anything about how things worked in space.
The Grandmaster grabbed Tivan's arms and kissed him on the cheeks without actually touching the cheeks.
"You should come more often, there are quite good specimen I wouldn't mind giving you. That is once they can no longer entertain me." He turned to me and looked at me up and down before frowning. He gestured at me with his finger. "It's a...a female?"
"Yes. From Terra."
"Brother, I thought you wanted me to evaluate one of your items."
"She might be a highly, valuable item brother, I assure you." The Grandmaster pursed his lips in thoughts before grinning.
"So how well can you fight?" I shrugged. He looked at Tivan. "She talks, doesn't she? Does she understand me? Terrans don't have much skills in spacial languages."
"She understands you," I told him. His bodyguard, who looked like a human woman, glared at me.
"Topaz, calm down. A little snark is welcomed every once in a while."
"Behave," the Collector told me before going on his ship. It left, leaving alone with the weird trio.
The Grandmaster had that creepy grin on his face, batting his eyelashes at me. Topaz was glaring. The other one, a woman with dark skin and marks on her face, took a big sip of her bottle.
She would have put Tony to shame if he had not quit drinking.
"142, the disk please." She put something on my neck. "You are a guest, so you won't be in the arena with the other gladiators. See it as a privilege, only my Champions can stay in my palace."
"Thank you."
"I don't think it's a good idea."
"Topaz, it's a favor from my brother. Family is important."
"She's going to get crushed in the contest," 142 told him, uninterested. "I can fetch you contestants way more interesting and promising."
"I know, you never disappoint, but until the contest let's treat her like a guest. If she dies after, well my brother will find something else. He always does."
I was showed the palace and what would be my quarters if I survived the fight tonight. They had signed me up for a low-level one because 'they didn't want to damage the Collector's good'.
I didn't have much time though because I was then taken to the arena.
I had to deal with the crazy hairdresser. I looked for a way out but there was none. He made three French braids on the right side of my head and shortened the front of my hair, giving me side bangs that ended underneath my eyes.
Oh, and he decided that a bluish black hair would look good.
Then, I was taken to change my clothes. I traded my...collection item's clothes for a leather black tank top that looked like a bustier. The part between my breasts was basically attached by lace, but there was a black piece of fabric underneath. It was a little see through but not too much. I poked it. It seemed pretty solid though. Then I had long black, finger-less gloves that reached my elbows. Then I had a black leather skirt, although skirt was a big word. There was fabric between my legs but nothing on the sides. It reached the middle of my thighs. I also had black leather pants underneath, and black boots.
They drew two blue lines from my hairline to my cheekbones on each side of my face.
I was kind of digging my new look.
"Pick a weapon." I was left with the other contestants.
I went to the weapon table, immediately picking two swords. I twirled them in my hands.
"Hello." I looked behind me. There was a rock man, with an insectoid next to him. "My name is Korg, this is Miek." Miek made a sound and I nodded at her. "You're new here?"
"Arrived today. You?"
"I've been here for a while. I wanted to throw a revolution but only my mom and her boyfriend, who I hate, showed up. I was thrown here, but am thinking about another revolution. Tempted?"
"We'll see. You're huh…" I gestured at him with my finger. "Made of rocks."
"Yeah. Nothing to be scared of unless you're scissors." I chuckled. I was a sucker for shitty jokes. "Are you from Terra?"
"Yes."
"You're not very evolved then?" I frowned. "I'm sorry, I don't want to offend you but Terra has a reputation for being a very late bloomer." Miek made a sound, certainly to agree.
"Yeah, I can't deny that. On the space plan we...we suck." Ironically, it was in spite of being invaded by aliens every few years. "So, that contest? Hard? To death?"
"Until one of the two can't fight anymore." I nodded.
"Good to know."
"Terrans are not known to be strong!" Korg told me as I started to leave.
"I'm not a regular terran!" I shot back, people shooting me weird glances.
I guess that, as Earth was not developed in outer space, having a native from there was weird.
"I know Miek, she's dead." I rolled my eyes.
Once in the arena, people were cheering. Me and my opponent were not the real show though, we were just the warm-up. The guy...was a fighter, I could see it to his figure. He had blue skin, green hair and purple eyes with a big gun on his back. He also had a big ax in his hand.
"Ow, scary," I snickered. He frowned and glared at me, pointing his ax at me.
"I will bath in your blood for the glory of the Kree Empire!" I pretended to tremble in fear.
"So scary!" He ran at me. I cracked my neck. "Like Wade would say: maximum effort."
I dodged all of his blows, reading his mind. At the first opening, I stabbed his hand. He clenched his teeth.
I kicked his ax away, grabbed him by his collar and with a grunt, threw him above my shoulder and into the wall. There was a deadly silent and I bowed.
Adaptibility? Still there.
Something told me that the Reality Stone was messing with any dimensional aspects of my powers, so extracting energy from Dark Matter. The rest should be...okay.
Now I had to know what additional things I could do and how to use the stone. I mean...I did turn myself into Thanos' target, at least when he'd realize I was the host of the Reality Stone but…
"Terrans are weak!" the kree yelled at me, back on his feet.
"Pretty sure I threw you in a wall buddy!" He snarled and took his gun. He shot me.
It was...energy, not a bullet. I stretched out my hand, ready to...return it, but it turned into sand instead, falling to the ground. Not my dark matter that looked like black sand no, like...regular sand.
Reality was...not set in stone with the Reality Stone. Heh, see what I did there?
"What?"
I grabbed him with telekinesis and broke his limbs. He crumbled to the ground, in pain.
No need to show too much. I turned toward where the Grandmaster was and bowed to him before leaving the arena. Korg and Miek were there.
"Congratulations!" Korg said. "I was wrong, you are strong."
"With the life I have, I wouldn't have survived otherwise."
I had two more fights, that I won as well.
Once we had warmed up for the Champion, I followed Korg and Miek. The windows were at Korg's head level, so I made a platform of dark matter and levitated high enough to see.
"And now, what you've been expecting the whole night!" the Grandmaster's voice boomed in the arena. "Undefeated for a long time, the one, the only, the Incredible Hulk!" I blinked.
Heh?
Hulk came out in the open, in gladiator gear. My hands clenched the bars at the window. As usual, Hulk smashed his opponent before roaring under the audience's yells of glee and cheers. It sure was different from Terra.
Earth.
"Doug said he wanted to challenge him."
"This Doug's gonna die," I idly told Korg.
I was taken back to the palace once the show over. I was not really surprised that I couldn't leave my 'room'. I took a deep breath and pushed the stone away from me. It gravitated above my right hand.
"Reality Stone, you must be able to make me leave the room unnoticed, can't you?" I guess creativity played a part in using it.
I took a deep breath and tried to use telekinesis the same way I did when I wanted dark matter energy only. The stone glowed a deep red and I jumped at the other me next to me. She pointed at the floor. I looked down and barely had the time to blink that I was falling into another dimension. I hit the ground hard and looked around me. The ground was...red, covered in dark sand. I looked up and blinked. The sky was...there were wormholes in the sky. It reminded me of London on the day of the Convergence, but there were a lot more…
Was I...seeing the Multiverse?
"Hello." I jumped and looked behind me. There was a woman, an alien, taller than me with bright pink skin, long pointy ears and purple hair.
"Who are you?"
"Reality. It's nice to finally see you again Addison, I have been expecting you." I fought the urge to take a step back. "Don't be scared, I'm not going to kill you. I made sure your powers would synchronize with mine so that your body doesn't 'overcharge'. It took time, and now you can't really use magic but you'll get there."
"Why me?"
"You're an anomaly." I blinked. "People's...actions create a multitude of realities. You're one of the few who appears less than people like Tony Stark for instance, mainly because of choices made in WW2."
"My grandfather," I figured out quickly.
"Pietro Maximoff is one who appears less than others too. Ultron gets him very often." I felt my heart dropped.
Pietro…
"So I figured you could do the job."
"Job?"
"I'm tired of being used to snap half the universe to dust for the Mad Titan," she said very seriously. "And other things as well...the multiverse is something, I might try to save my universe, or prevent a few things."
"Huh...okay?" She smiled at me.
"We'll talk later Addison, for now." She opened a portal behind me. "Time to go see the Hulk." She pushed me and I fell on the floor. The ceiling...was red.
"Addison?" I turned my head. Hulk had his brows raised and walked toward me. I waved at him.
"Did you see my fights? I saw yours." He pinched my top between two fingers and sat me up pretty delicately for his size.
"Shouldn't be here."
"Agree," I muttered. "A weird turn of events...it's good to see you're okay Hulk. You're okay, right?" He nodded.
"People here like Hulk." I stood up and patted his big green hand, a small smile on my lips.
"Then it's good." I went to the window and looked over the city.
It was...big.
"I'm surprised the quinjet managed to take you there though. It's no...it wasn't designed to go to space, was it? I don't remember."
"Quinjet crashed."
"Makes sense, the system couldn't handle the space jumps and wormholes…" I sat down next to him on his bed.
"Why here?"
"Well, I kind of got involved in Thor's family drama, got sent in space and found myself at the Grandmaster's brother...in his museum. Next thing I knew I'm here. Although, I have to admit it feels kind of good in a way. Nobody seems to judge you for the violence or weird powers you have. It changes from Terra. Earth." He nodded vividly.
"People not scared of Hulk."
I wanted to know for how long he had been the Hulk for him to be so popular, but seeing the big guy seemingly not angry was...was a nice change.
Sakaar Day 26, Grandmaster's Palace
"A new contestant you say?" I retorted while I was sparring with Hulk. The Grandmaster treated his Champion well and when said Champion requested me, he couldn't say 'no'.
Valkyrie, or 142, was surprised. Hulk and her got along fine too, which made me surprised.
"Think it's Thor?" I stopped his club and turned it against him.
"I hope it is. Or Loki." Hulk sniffed, catching the weapon in his hands. He broke it before I could pull it from his grasp.
"Puny God." We sparred some more until I was sent to the arena. I waved at Hulk, who waved back at me as he was going to get ready too.
People scattered to let me walk through when I reached the 'getting ready' area. I went to the weapon display and my arms fell limply by my side.
"My swords aren't here!" I exclaimed.
"Oh yeah, Thor took them," Korg told me as he approached me. I looked at him.
"Thor? Did you say 'Thor'?"
"Yes, he got here yesterday. He's gonna fight the Champion." Korg handed me a big wooden fork. "Want this? It would be useful against three vampires."
"Vampires? No, wait, so a guy named Thor is here?"
"Yes, he's there right now." I looked toward the room where...you were made into a gladiator aesthetically speaking.
"Blond hair, blue eyes, maybe mentioned a hammer?"
"He said the hammer pulled him off." I wrinkled my nose.
"I can't...not imagine this now," I muttered to myself. "He's before us?"
"No, he's against the Champion, didn't you listen?" I pursed my lips.
I finished my only fight pretty quickly as Thor and Hulk were clearly the real show tonight. As Korg took my place, I tried to find Thor in the crowd. I did and blinked at the short hair.
"Hey." He spun around with wide eyes before grinning in relief.
"You're alive!" I nodded.
"Been here for a week now." He frowned.
"A week? Loki's been there for weeks and he was kicked out of the Bifrost after you, it doesn't…"
"I didn't land here." He blinked. "I...landed in Knowhere and Tivan brought me here," I whispered to him. He widened his eyes.
"Why would you…" I shot him a pointed look.
"London?" He got it, cerulean blue eyes widening even more. "We'll talk about it late Thor, it's almost your turn."
"Once I win I'm getting us out of here." He grabbed my shoulders firmly. "I'm sorry you got involved in my family issues Addison, but I swear on Asgard that I will get you back to Earth." I pursed my lips. "Now I have to go." As he walked away, I watched him.
"Wait Thor, your opponent…" He turned around to look at me, still walking away.
"I will show them that they should not have messed with the God of Thunder!" He disappeared from my sight.
Oh well…Hulk was not going to kill him.
I watched their fight, sighing when Thor tried the lullaby before wincing when Hulk grabbed his leg and...threw him around like I used to do to my doll as a kid. Their fight was destructive, they were the two strongest Avengers after all. I raised y brows when Thor used lightning without his hammer. I would have whistled if I knew how to, but ultimately the God of Thunder fell to the ground and Hulk knocked him out for good.
"Another day, another Doug," Korg commented.
When we went back to the Palace, I was with Hulk. He had an unconscious Thor on his shoulder as his 'trophy'. Anything the Champion wanted, the Grandmaster granted him.
"Hey Hulk, listen to me a sec," I whispered to him. He grunted, indicating he was listening to me. "You've got to keep Thor with you, okay? I'll know where to find him after."
"Thor home."
"...sure." Maybe Hulk was a little lonely after all, and him and Thor always had a...a friendly banter? "I'll pop by like I did the other day."
"Might get stuck. Not enough control." I narrowed my eyes at him. Hulk and Banner were two distinct people sharing a body, like Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde but...was it possible that some of Doc's scientific background just stuck in spite of the gamma rays?
Wow, it was getting too scientific for my regular brain.
"If you see legs but no body, pull on the legs," I told him before I was taken to my room.
At least, Thor was there. It was improvement.
The next day, I was taken to the Grandmaster. Funny enough, Loki was there. He looked at me up and down before recognizing me.
"Ah there she is!" I smiled at the Grandmaster. "I have to admit my brother had a good eye, you're an interesting specimen. I never would have thought a female terran would be so entertaining!" I bowed sarcastically. "And the sarcasm! I would hate it if you didn't have a reason to act like that." He took a deep breath. "You're going back to my brother."
"Already?" I replied in shock.
"I know, Sakaar is much more entertaining, but Tivan wanted to…" I saw Loki twitching at the name, shooting a side glance in my direction. "test your abilities, and it's done. Now I want my Champion to go back to being the only champion."
"Of course."
"You're going back tomorrow, enjoy your stay until then." I started to leave, Loki following me.
"You're not a human." I frowned and turned to him.
"I beg your pardon?" I couldn't say if he was actually curious or something else.
"You're not a human. A human wouldn't have beaten a kree." I folded my arms, leaning on my right leg.
"And please tell me, oh God of Mischief, what you know about us humans?"
"You're weak?" he replied immediately as if it was obvious.
"Strange didn't seem so weak when he made you fall for thirty minutes." He glared at me. "You failed to take over New York because of humans, don't forget that. There's a lot you don't know about them." I walked away.
Once away from prying eyes, I made a portal to Hulk's room. He was not there, but Thor was.
"Thor?" He stumbled back, away from the window. He shook his head and I patted his shoulder. "Thor, you okay?"
"I need to go to Asgard and quick," he muttered to himself, turning to me.
"Do you think we can leave this place by tomorrow? The Grandmaster is sending me back to Knowhere." He frowned and nodded.
"Yes, we need to get to the quinjet."
"I doubt that thing can handle other space adventures and…wait, let me deactivate that thing." I moved my hand in front of the disk in his neck, dark red energy faintly shining around my fingertips.
Use the Reality Stone then lock the effects with magic. Tough, there were still things I...basically, anything I learned with Strange was a no-no for now. Who knew what I could do. I could do portals for short distance and that was it.
"You use magic now?"
"You saw me at Strange's Sanctum, he's my teacher." I pursed my lips. "A lot of things happened since you left."
"We'll catch up later then." He put a finger on the disk but left it on his neck. "Thanks for that."
"You're welcome." He clapped in his hands.
"Now all we have to do is convince the Hulk to help us leave."
"Yeah." I pursed my lips. "He...you know, I feel bad for Doc and knowing he's been 'sleeping' for a couple of years but...Hulk seems to like it here."
"I noticed when he beat me up for cheers." We exchanged a knowing look. "We still have to leave this place."
"Agree."
Thank you all for reading! Don't hesitate to leave a review!
