Sakaar Day 27, Hulk's room
"You sure it's going to work?"
"Yeah of course!" We looked at Hulk. "Right Hulk? Know your part?"
"Play with Angry Girl!" You know what, Hulk was kind of cute.
I shared a look with Thor. He'd try to get Valkyrie to help us, then we were off to the quinjet.
Not long after, Valkyrie arrived. She slid next to Hulk and kicked him behind the knee, making him fall. It was an impressive feat.
"What's going on? What are you…" she trailed off, seeing us. Thor attempted to lean on the shelves but ended up grasping his hands awkwardly in front of him.
Valkyrie started to walk away, stomping on Hulk's leg, who didn't say anything. If anything...he smiled?
"You're so thick-headed that you can't tell when someone's hiding all the way across the universe and wants to be left alone." I went to Hulk's side, sitting on the steps leading to his bed while Thor stood in front of me.
"We need to talk."
"No, you want to talk to me."
"I need her to stay," Thor told Hulk.
"Stay," he repeated. He pulled the headboard of his bed, a jaw I think, and threw it to the door. It stopped her.
"Hulk, maybe less dangerous next time," I told him with a small smile. He shrugged and pointed at Valkyrie.
"Stay, please!"
"Please," Thor repeated.
"Alright. Here's the deal." I got up and played with Hulk and his ball, catching it with telekinesis and throwing it back at him. I listened to their discussion with one ear.
I looked at them when Thor said he was putting a team together and that it was him, Hulk, myself and her.
"No, no team, only Hulk!"
"It's me, you and Addison."
"I'm afraid it's only you and the terran your Highness. I'm not getting into another one of Odin's family squabble."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Your sister. Her powers come straight from Asgard, same as yours. When it grew beyond Odin's control she massacred everyone in the palace and tried to seize the throne." Huh, not very original. "When she tried to escape her banishment, Odin sent the Valkyrie to stop her. I only survived because…" She didn't finish her sentence. I left Hulk to play alone and stepped closer to them. She shot me a quick look above her shoulder. "Look, I already faced her once when I believed in the throne and it cost me everything. That's what's wrong with Asgard. The throne, the secrets, the whole golden sham..."
"I agree." Thor tried to grab her arm when she walked past him but he ended with a knife at his throat.
"Don't get familiar."
"I agree." Thor sighed, pushing the knife down. "That's why I turned down the throne, but it's about the people right now. My people, your people."
"Forget it. I have." She pushed him away.
"Alright."
"Alright."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For the talk." He casually removed the disk in his neck as I did the same.
"Can we go now?" I asked him, folding my arms on my chest. Valkyrie pointed her knife at me.
"You deactivated the disks. How?" I shrugged.
"You know, go ahead, enslave people for that lunatic, drinking and hiding. Me." Thor turned toward Hulk and I. I ducked the ball Hulk threw at Thor, who barely caught it. "Me, I choose to run toward my problems. Because that's what heroes d…" He threw the ball at the window. It bounced back and hit him hard in the head, making him fall. He jumped back on his feet, punching the air. "Because that's what heroes do. Now!" he said for me, running in the window. He went through it and I followed him, using my powers to get down safely unlike Thor who...pretty much parkoured.
"Do we know what to do once at the quinjet?" I asked him, running behind him, Hulk behind us.
"We...make it work!" I looked around us and pulled on his cape. "Yes!"
I jumped on the quinjet, Thor behind me, and opened the side door, landing inside. As Thor went to the controls, I looked around it. I squinted toward the seat and went to it. Tucked between two mats was a...music player.
I grabbed my head when a flash of me listening to music loud in the quinjet appeared in my mind while the others were...resting after a mission. After the first time we went to Sokovia, and the scepter was there.
I gulped and put a hand on my throat.
Ultron.
"Addie, come here!" I went to Thor as the voice of the jet said Point Break was granted access. "Stark didn't give me full…"
"You get impatient sometimes with Earth's technology," I mumbled to myself. I put my hand on the panel. "Teenage Angst."
"Welcome Teenage Angst." The joy was short-lived because the back of the quinjet was torn apart.
"Friends stay!" Thor stretched out his hand.
"Hulk no!"
"Friends stay!" he repeated, entering the quinjet. However, with his size he was breaking everything.
"Wait Hulk you're breaking everything!" The powers were going down.
Think Addie, think, remember, what did...what happened after Doc disappeared...who was…
Nat!
Nat, she said…
My fingers moved quickly on the controls as Thor was trying to calm Hulk down.
"Bingo," I whispered to myself as Nat's face appeared.
"Nice work big guy. We don't know where Ultron's headed, but you're going very high very fast." Hulk slowed down at Nat's voice, his eyes widening a little. "So I need you to turn bird around okay? We can't track you in stealth mode…" He reached out his fingers. "...so I need you to help me out. Okay?"
It seemed to have reached Doc, because while Nat's video started to crash, Hulk crashed in the side of the quinjet, shrinking. I shared a look with Thor and hurried to get some clothes. Tony was the one closest in size so I grabbed some of the ones he always had at his disposal back then…
There were...clothes for all of us. The seven Avengers. The original six and the uncooperative one considered from the start but who didn't show up in New York.
I grabbed a katana handle and pursed my lips. I no longer was Cryptic from the Avengers, yet it brought a deep wave of nostalgia. I'd do good with the Avengers and then I'd…
I'd go home to Bucky and feel safe. A flash of him and I talking in the backyard of a house came back in my mind, playfully teasing each other as I could do a kick right.
"I've got clothes!" I told Thor and Doc as I came out of the restroom. Doc's wide eyes fell on me.
"You're here too!?" I nodded. An alarm started ringing. "Wait guys, where are we?"
"About that…" Thor started, but the Grandmaster's voice stopped him.
I gave Doc the clothes.
"Sakaar, hear ye." I leaned on Thor's shoulder to tiptoe and watch the hologram of the Grandmaster plastered on his palace. "Attention please, I have some bad news. My beloved exalted champion has turned up missing. Take to the street. Celebrate my champion."
"Your landlord Doc," I told him whereas he had just opened his mouth to ask who that was. "Kind of...eccentric."
"Kind of?" Thor repeated.
"Anyway, he runs the place and holds this Contest of Champions in which you and Thor fought each other."
"I won."
"It doesn't seem right," Doc noted idly, staring at the hologram with wide eyes.
He was on the verge of a panic attack.
"It seems that this criminally attractive Lord of Thunder has stolen him away."
"Seductive God of Thunder!" Thor corrected him angrily. Yet, it made me smile a little. Good old Thor was good to have in bad situations. "We need to move."
Thor went to look for things that could be helpful to us but I kept wary eyes on Doc.
"Oh God, what...guys, I think I'm freaking out." I grabbed his shoulders and made sure he looked at me in the eyes.
"Look Doc, I know it must be very disturbing to suddenly wake up on an alien planet after two years, only God knows how confused I was when I landed on Knowhere and ended up as a museum artifact." He tilted his head on the side, confused.
"You were put in a museum as a…" I waved him off.
"Yeah, it's a long story. Anyway, at least you've got Thor and I, alright? We know each other. We'll...we'll get back to Earth. Thor said he'd get me back to Earth, it will be the same for you. It's...it's us three only, but we're the strongest Avengers, we can kick some aliens' asses!"
"Damn right!" Thor added. Doc was slowly breathing slower.
"We're in this together," I stressed, letting go of him. He showed me Tony's clothes.
"I'm...I'm gonna get changed." He went to the bathroom.
Thor dropped poptarts on the seats. I shot them a look. Expired. Any food on the quinjet was at least two years old anyway.
Basically, I kept him from eating them. He glared at me.
"I don't care, God or not you're not eating expired food. Damn I sound like a mom," I muttered to myself, walking up to him. "Anyway…" I gestured at the destroyed back of the quinjet. "What now?"
"No way you can miraculously fix it?" he asked me sarcastically with a smirk.
"Not if I don't have a clue of how it works genius," I replied with a frown.
"I know. Look, I'm sure the Grandmaster must have at least one ship, we can steal it."
"Then where do we go? Do you know how to reach Asgard from Sakaar?" He pursed his lips sheepishly.
"...no?" I rolled my eyes. "Hey, finding a way to leave this planet is hard enough! Can't you...I don't know, Strange teleported us, can't you do the same?"
"I can't to places I've never been and I can't really do anything dimension-related right now!" I hissed at him.
"Because of the Stone?" I blinked and looked away. "You're not getting out of this conversation Addie. I told you there was a reason why it hit you."
"You did?"
"Yeah, don't you remember?" I looked away. "What?"
"A lot happened in two years, I've...lost my memories a few months ago." He widened his eyes. "Most of it came back, but not all of it...I mean, I don't remember how I met you or Doc, or a lot of things related to you two, it's mainly the current Avengers." Seeing he was about to ask further questions, I raised a finger. "Later. When we're...safe, far from this place."
"It's tight," Doc said, coming out of the bathroom dressed.
"Take what you need from the quinjet, we won't come back to it." I personally kept the katana handle, a spare earpiece for mind reading and the music player.
I caught sight of something from the corner of my eye. I walked to a corner of the jet and picked it up. I gulped, pursing my lips.
It was Rogers' helmet. He...he took it off before going into Nova Grad. It was dusty but...My thumb grazed the 'A' on the helmet with a heavy heart.
"Let's go," Thor told me, patting my shoulder.
"Yeah." I put down the helmet on the floor and followed him and Doc. As we walked through the crowd, I kept a close eye on Doc. He was looking around frantically.
"The sun's getting real low, the sun's getting real low," Thor repeated, rubbing his shoulders.
"Thor, you're not Natasha, it won't do anything."
"She's right, it's starting to get on my nerves," Doc agreed.
"What? No it doesn't, look the sun's getting real lo...aouch!" I kicked him behind the knee. He glared at me above his shoulder. "Hey!"
"Stop with the lullaby!" I shot back.
Doc sat down at the entrance of a building on the side of the road as I bickered with Thor to make him stop with the lullaby.
"He's from Earth, of course he's freaking out about being on another planet, we suck at space!" I hissed at him through gritted teeth.
"Then it's improvement, and you seem fine!"
"I didn't wake up from two years of being my Mister Hide!"
"What?"
"Guys you're not helping at all!" Banner told us, frustrated. "My brain can't handle the information, god I'm on an alien planet and...and the Hulk...It's different! Before we both had a hand on the wheel but this time, he just locked me in the trunk of the car while he was driving!"
"You're back now, it's all that matters," Thor said, trying to put things into perspective. He sat down next to Doc while I stayed in front of them.
"No it's not, what I'm trying to say is that next time I might not come back! And we're stranded on a planet designed to stress me out!" he finished, looking around. Thor grabbed his shoulder.
"We're not stranded. I'm gonna figure out a way to get us home."
"Thank you!"
"Not yours immediately though. Mine. Asgard first."
"What?"
"His sister is threatening his people," I summed up.
"You have a sister? Wait, are you planing on making me fight your sister Thor? It's wrong on so many levels, I don't want anything to do with your family's issues."
"She's an evil being. You met her, she's evil, right?"
"Yeah, can't argue with that," I mumbled to myself.
"I don't care, I don't want to fight anymore being, I'm sick of it."
"What?"
"I just told you, if I turn into the Hulk I might never come back and you don't care!"
"What no, I'm putting together a team! It's me, and Addison," I raised my hand in resignation, "and Hulk is the fire!"
"Thor, it's not…"
"You're using me to get to the Hulk. It's gross."
"What? No!" Thor tried to defend himself.
"You're not my friend."
"I don't even like the Hulk! He's all like 'Smash smash smash'! I prefer you!"
"Thanks." Doc seemed...touched? Well, it seemed to matter to be told he was preferred over the Hulk. Thor's face was uncomfortable.
"But if I'm being honest when it comes to fighting evil he's more useful."
"Banner is useful and powerful too."
"Is he though?"
"How many PhDs does the Hulk have? Zero. Banner? Seven."
"Look Doc, you won't have to fight anyone," I interrupted them. "Thor and I are enough, all you have to do is actually follow us if you want to leave Sakaar which, by the way, I'd like to do quickly! Come on, get up!" I ordered them, my patience running thin. They must have realized that because they stood up, Thor grabbing a rag to wrap around his head.
"What are you doing?" Doc asked him.
"I'm a fugitive." I dodged the cloth Thor threw at me.
"Oh right." Doc pulled glasses from his pocket and put them on. "I'll be Tony Stark!"
"It's…"
"We can be Tony and the Gypsies!"
"Nobody knows who Banner is here," I reminded him flatly.
"Why aren't you hiding?"
"I have a feeling it won't help us much."
"That's...why are you being weird?" the God of Thunder asked Doc. He was struggling with his pants.
"Tony wears his pants super tight and I'm on an alien planet, trapped inside a monster for two years so maybe it made me a little weird!" The veins on his neck turned green.
"It's...it's okay. We're gonna go to Asgard and you'll never have to think of the Hulk ever again!"
"Yeah, maybe we should wait until we left the plan…" Doc was hit by green powder in the face, people in the street cheering 'Hulk'. There even were piñatas with his face. "Oh, do you think there are candies in those?" I kind of...followed the piñatas like a moron, Doc behind me. "Right, so Hulk is very popular here!" I told Doc.
"Yeah, I think I would have realized that on my own!" The crowd went down some stairs to a busy square. "Wait, where's Thor!?"
"Don't worry, he's looking for us and coming our way!" Valkyrie was coming as well, from the other side. We were between two Asgardians.
It didn't take long for Thor to step up between us and an alien, alien knocked out by Valkyrie very easily.
"That's just humiliating," I told myself, staring at the alien on the ground.
"They're easy to humiliate," Valkyrie agreed.
"I was going to do that."
"Yeah, I did it first." She seemed so tired of people's shit. "Everybody's looking for you three."
"Are you going to bring us to the Grandmaster?"
"I thought about it. What's with the…"
"It's my disguise."
"I can still see you." Thor hid half his face with the cloth.
"Now you can't."
"She's familiar," Doc whispered to me.
"Alright, can we move and...take us to your gift?" Valkyrie raised a brow at me. I pointed at my head. "Mind reader, I heard you coming minutes ago." Thor shot me a pointed look. I smiled, batting my eyelashes at him.
"Come." We followed her in a building. "Who's the new guy by the way?"
"I'm Bruce." Let's forget how he was complimenting her to Thor a minute ago.
"I feel like I know you."
"I feel the same!" I smirked and took the lead, leaving them to talk behind me. Valkyrie must have figured out what I wanted because she gave me her card key on the way.
I pointed my finger at Loki, tied to a chair and snickered. He glared at me.
"My gift to you," Valkyrie said as she entered the room.
"Surprise," he told Thor with not an ounce of enthusiasm. "Stop laughing mortal."
"The name is Addison," I told him, going to the bar. "I'm starving."
Thor threw something at his brother. He received it on the head.
"Aouch."
"I had to be sure." Then Bruce entered the room, still struggling with his pants.
"Hello Bruce."
"Last time I saw you you wanted to take over the world and murder everyone," Doc started, on his guards. "Where are you at these days?"
"It depends from moment to moment." Doc looked very worried at the statement and joined me.
I was eating...food. I didn't know what it was and wasn't sure I wanted to know. It tasted good.
"Do we have a name by the way?" I asked Thor, who was in awe at a sword. A Dragonfang.
"The Revengers yeah." I raised a brow at him. He pointed at himself then Valkyrie. "Revenge. Banner's still undecided and you must want revenge upon something, right?" I licked my thumb.
"Not wrong."
While they explained how to leave the place, I kept eating. It wasn't that I wasn't fed since I landed in space but...well, it wasn't a gastronomic restaurant.
I choked on whatever snack I was eating when they said the biggest wormhole was called the 'Devil's Anus'.
While Doc, Valkyrie and Thor talked about...the science of how to get through the wormhole, I listened to Loki's mind.
"And we need cup holders because we're all gonna die, so cheers!"
"Do I know you? I feel like I know you." Bruce told her. She grinned at him.
"I feel the same!"
"So what do you say? Uncharted metagalactic travel through a volatile cosmic gate away. Talk about an adventure." I bumped my fist in Thor's, imitating Doc.
"I might get used to the Revengers." Thor grinned.
"Yes, just like old times!"
"We need a ship."
"Need a ship," the God of Thunder repeated after Doc. I pointed at Loki.
"He knows how to get one." They all looked at Loki, the latter staring at me with narrowed eyes.
"Seriously, who the hell are you!?"
"Not my fault you didn't do your research on humans right," I replied with a grin.
"You're so unnerving, like Stark."
"What can I say, he's my godfather."
"It explains so mu…" Valkyrie threw her bottle next to his head. It flew into pieces when it crashed in the wall. "The Grandmaster has many great ships. I may have stolen the access codes to his security system."
"And suddenly you're overcome with the urge to do the right thing," Valkyrie replied sarcastically.
"Heaven no. I've run out of favor with the Grandmaster, and in exchange for codes and an access to a ship, I'm asking for a safe passage through the anus."
"That's a sentence I never thought I'd hear," I muttered under my breath.
As we talked about whether or not trusting Loki, Thor telling us about a disturbing childhood memory of him being fooled then stabbed by his brother, who smirked when he heard that, I frowned and raised my hand to my earpiece.
"Don't mind me," I told them when Thor frowned at me. I went to the window and looked around. I widened my eyes and moved away from the window. "Shit, screw you Tivan!" I looked at Thor, alarmed. "His group is there."
"They're here to pick you up," Valkyrie noted. I shifted from one foot to another nervously.
"So, a plan?"
"We're going to start a revolution," Thor stated. I widened my eyes at him.
"You mean…" He nodded.
"Loki and I will take care of the guards and get the ship out of the garage. You," he turned to Valkyrie, "you get weapons and give them to the gladiators in the arena. There's a kronan there, Korg, tell him the Lord of Thunder sends his regards. You two." He turned to Bruce and I. "You go to her ship and wait there before joining us on the big ship. You can't be taken to Knowhere, and Banner you're pretty defenseless."
"I got him," I assured Thor. "It sounds like a solid plan."
"Then…" He grabbed a knife and sliced off Loki's ropes. "Let's get started."
Valkyrie had...a surprisingly big collection of weapons. She told Bruce and I how to get to her ship and I took the lead, Doc clearly nervous behind me. Fortunately, apart from two guards I knocked out, there was no one.
"That was easy."
"It was...violent." I frowned and turned sharp eyes to Doc.
"I'm sorry?"
"Don't take it too badly, it's just...I don't remember you being that brutal before."
"Sometimes you've got to get your hands dirty to do the right thing." I closed the ship behind us.
"And Cap's okay with that?" I smirked.
"I haven't seen him in a year and a half, I really couldn't care less about what he thinks."
"Wait what? Did something happen?" I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Right, you don't...the Avengers broke up. There was...something called the Sokovia Accords and we didn't agree on them and it split the group apart. Team Cap against Team Iron Man. It was a mess, Rhodey almost got paralyzed and now Cap, Sam and Nat are on the run. I was too but...I was pardoned."
"The Avengers...broke up?" he repeated quietly with wide eyes, not believing it. "How...it's a nightmare, isn't it?" I pursed my lips.
Zemo had...no trouble breaking us apart. We were a team on the surface only, I think.
"What else did I miss?"
"Huh...Steve reunited with Bucky, his war buddy. There's an Ant Man, and a Spider Man, and a Black Panther, the king of Wakanda. Oh and Wakanda is now opened to the world. After Sokovia, Vision, the Maximoff twins, Rhodey and Sam all officially joined the team. It's...you know what, I'll tell you later."
"Addis…"
"I'm not talking."
I remained quiet until Valkyrie came back and we took off. We were behind a similar ship which was shooting at a more extravagant one. Valkyrie shot it and it was destroyed.
"Good shot!"
"Thanks." She pushed a button on the side of her seat. "Open the doors."
She moved the ship below the orange one, which had its doors opened. The glass of the cockpit was removed and I grabbed Doc.
"Don't mess up the landing!"
"I have this!"
"What!?" Doc screamed, confused at us. I removed his belt, like mine, and took off.
I flew straight into the ship then directly away from the void. Doc was shaking like a leaf.
"Since when can you fly like that!?"
"A few months," I replied casually, going to the pilot. Well, Thor. "There are still a lot after us."
"Yeah. Where are the guns?"
"There are no guns! It's a leisure vessel. The Grandmaster uses it for orgies and stuff!"
"Gross," I muttered behind Thor.
"Did she say…"
"Yes, don't touch anything guys."
Her ship blew up. Thor and Doc yelled.
"She's fine." Indeed, she landed on our ship.
"Get inside!"
"In a minute!" she told Thor before leaping on a ship.
Thor went to help her, even if she seemed to have the situation under control.
"Hey, what's that?" I narrowed my eyes at the ships coming our way. They were different from the Sakaarian ones.
"I'll handle them." I went on the roof of the ship and locked myself with it with dark matter around my feet. I cracked my knuckles.
I turned the shots about to hit the ship into smoke, turning the ones further away against the ships. They blew up. I bent my knees when we flew between two explosions to keep steady, making sure to destroy any ships from Knowhere there were.
Once down, I went back in our ship. Because of the speed and where I was, I messed up the landing and flew in the wall. I groaned in pain as I touched the floor, the two Asgardians staring at me.
"I'm okay, I'm okay!" I said, sitting up.
"Close the doors!" Valkyrie told Doc, going to the cockpit while Thor helped me up.
"So...I'm gonna see Asgard?" Thor nodded.
"It's not the best conditions but yes." I grinned.
"You're making one of my dreams come true!"
Let's hope we could deal with Hela.
Thank you all for reading! Don't hesitate to leave a review!
