The first in, hopefully, a sequence of stories about Nanoha and Hayate's life together.

Tuxedo

Groaning to myself, I fidget with the cufflinks at my wrist. I sneak a peak out the window to take in the beautiful day outside. Such a shame that we will be spending it indoors all day today at this rate. According to the young girl with blonde hair looking outside, she feels the same.

"Vivio. Come over here so I can fix your hair." Nanoha calls out to our daughter as she finishes trying to straighten Erin's hair. The eight year old trots over to stand next to her sister, a big smile on her face.

I turn to look in the mirror and take in the sight before me. A black tuxedo with golden trim. I don't have a problem with the colors, but the feeling of wearing it is still rather uncomfortable. With a grimace, I reach up to adjust the tie around my neck.

Gentle hands pull mine away and to my sides.

"So… Remind me why I'm the one wearing the tux?"

I look down to see my wife straightening my tie. She certainly looks beautiful wearing her bridesmaid dress. While the gold with orange trim looks great, I still think white with ice blue trim fits her better. Then again, those are her best colors.

"I thought that would be obvious." Nanhoa pulls the tie up. "You did wear a tuxedo at our wedding after all." She gives me a playful smile.

I feel my cheeks burning. That was certainly true. But that doesn't mean I particularly like it. "I mean, it just feels weird."

"We wear suits all the time."

"Yeah, but… This always feels a bit much."

Light tapping draws my attention to the center of the room. I can't help but smile seeing Vivio twirling in her flower girl dress, Erin spinning with her. I stifle a laugh at her hair already starting to come undone.

"I think it would be nice for us to match though."

Nanoha's ears redden at that comment. Honestly, I think it would be a beautiful picture.

"If you don't wear it though, you'll be the only one on her side not wearing a tux."

Ugh. I wasn't expecting that fast of a turnaround. "I-I guess so, but I wouldn't mi-IIIIACK-!"

She frowns up at me. "Oh? So you would rather I wear the tuxedo then? Need I remind you that this is specially fitted?"

A croaking sound escapes my throat, as the tie gets pulled too tight.

"N-n-no no! It's fine, really. I was just joking around." I let out a strangled laugh. Having a bit of trouble breathing, dear.

"Yep." Satisfied, she smiles innocently and redoes the tie. "Hayate-chan definitely looks best wearing a tux anyway."

I think my face is even redder than before.

A pair of giggles down at my waist cause me to jump slightly. I look down to see Vivio snickering behind her hands while Erin just has a large toothy grin. If it was possible for me to get any redder, I think I just managed.

I look back into my wife's eyes and try to calm myself. Before I can say anything however, the door to our dressing room opens up and a young man with messy red hair pokes his head inside.

"S-sorry to interupt. Captain, can you come and help us?"

Erin and Vivio simply waved while Nanoha and I raised our eyebrows in confusion.

Erio gave a small wave to the kids before looking back at us with a sheepish smile. "I'm sorry to ask, but Fate is starting to freak out again. Would one of you be able to help?"

Ah. I figured this would happen. I start to move before I hear Nanoha huff and pat me on the shoulder.

"Alright, I'll be right there."

Erio nods and goes back into the hallway.

"I'll be back in a bit, okay?" My wife flashes us a smile before following after Erio.

We give a small wave to her back, and my kids go back to admiring their outfits. Following their example, I take one last look in the mirror.

With a small huff, I shake my head. "Why does she have to be right?"

Quiet giggles hit my ears again and this time I can't help but laugh along. It seems I do look good in a tuxedo.
