James Potter was facing a dilemma.

Earlier in the day, during a fight with Deatheaters, his wife Lily had been struck by a curse.

A curse that not only killed their unborn child, of which the couple had only heard the existence of when the healer gave a report on the damage done to Lily, but damaged her reproduction organs so that she could never become pregnant.

This was a blow in many ways. The most obvious was that his wife, whom he loved more than anything, had always wished to be a mother. He himself also hoped to be a father.

But as Lord of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter, James was expected to have at least one child, to name as heir, or name a close relative his heir. But James was the last Potter by blood still alive. And his closest relatives were the Blacks. He wouldn't mind it if Sirius was named heir, but his friend was just as old as he was, and unless killed, the two were quiet likely to die within a few years of each other, so it would be impractical to name Sirius his heir, or to keep him as heir (as Sirius was named his current heir with the understanding that once he had a child said child would become heir). Regulus, Sirius younger brother was dead, and even if he wasn't he had been a Deatheater. Bellatrix, Sirius, oldest cousin, had not only married a Deatheater but become one herself, if the rumors were true. James didn't know Andromeda, though Sirius spoke highly of his cousin, but she had a daughter should worse come to worse. And Narcissa had married Lucius Malfoy, a man James hated.

He could always take a mistress, but he wasn't sure he could cheat on his wife, even with her permission, such was his depth of emotion for her.

The only other option was to blood adopt a child, and it would likely be his best course of action once he spoke to his wife. There were charms that could be used to fake a pregnancy, and the Healer's Oath would prevent the healer from speaking of his wife's injury without permission.

And Sirius, who had heard the news along with James (he had been in the same fight and helped James get his wife to St. Mungos), would never tell.

He didn't know that Sirius had the means, and motivation to help his friend.

Like James, Sirius had been facing a dilemma.

Recently, Sirius' father Orion had died. And for whatever reason, despite being disowned from his family publically, Sirius had never been disowned officially, and had remained his father's heir, and had hence been named Lord of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black.

It was a fact that he was keeping as quiet as he could until his mother, Walburga Black, passed. More out of the fact that he didn't want to put up with dealing with his mother and what would no doubt be her protest over how he dealt with House Black, but he knew that if the need became important he would reveal his Lordship.

Like James, he needed an heir. Until recently, he had been planning on naming James child said heir, both because James was his brother in all but blood, and because he had no desire to settle down and have a family.

That desire stemmed from witnessing his own parents' marriage. And despite living with James and his family since was disowned and ran away when he was fifteen, the damage had already been done.

However, Sirius had a plan B prepared. He may not behave like it most of the time, but he was raised a Black. And Blacks were raised to always, ALWAYS, get what they wanted. And while rare, when there was something he truly wanted or needed, he made back-up plans for such occurrences, just in case it was needed.

And while Sirius didn't share many of the views of his family, he didn't hold the same values and honor that James and Lily did. His honor was also rather flexible.

He admitted these were his own faults.

Still, he also knew that know wasn't the time to explain his plan to James and Lily, though that didn't mean he couldn't put said plan into action.

Emma Grace Frost smiled down at her baby girl.

The result of a drunken one night stand after the debacle with Astrid Bloom and her former lover, Ian Kendell. All the young mutant had wanted was an escape from the emotional pain.

While she'd since put the incident behind her, and deemed human's in general as beneath her, back then it had been fresh in her mind.

And while she regretted the fact she couldn't even remember what her daughter's father looked like, she adored the girl she now held in her arms. And more importantly, she vowed she would be a better parent to her daughter than either of her parents were to her.

Before passing her daughter to the nurse, to be taken to the nursery for the night, she told the nurse her name, Christina Grace, after her brother Christian (the only family she cared for) and herself.

The next day, when the nurses came in and told her that Christina had died in the night, she was devastated.

And she shut herself off more.

Sirius did feel bad for taking his daughter form her mother, but it was for the best.

Though beautiful, Emma Frost was a muggle. And he'd seen Lily's family divide because she was a witch and her sister wasn't.

He truly believed it was better that she believed their daughter dead.

And while his actions, namely the tracking charms and monitoring charms he'd placed on Emma and the fertility potion he'd given her when he found her (though the kidnapping part was illegal as well, especially in America which was very Pro-Muggle), weren't strictly legal, he knew that so long as he wasn't caught in the act, he wouldn't be punished.

There was no other way to prove he was guilty.

Still, he decided to keep the girl's name, out of what little guilt he felt for doing this to her mother

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

James smiled as his wife held their new daughter.

Sirius had explained that he'd had a girlfriend (he'd kept her secret as he was a well-known Auror, to protect her). He'd knocked her up, but didn't wish to marry her. She'd left him, and agreed to keep the child, on the condition that it was his responsibility when born and she have nothing to do with it.

He'd come to James shortly after finding this out, as he didn't feel that he was ready to be a father himself, and knew of James and Lily's troubles. He'd offered that they could have his child, blood adopt it, and raise it as their own. Plus, it would then solve his and James problems, as they'd have an heir for both families.

Though he'd been disappointed in Sirius, he had talked it over with Lily, and the couple had agreed. Using various charms, they had faked a pregnancy for Lily.

Sirius had brought them the little girl two weeks ago, and they went through the act of Lily 'giving birth' to the newborn girl.

They had quickly performed the blood adoption, though the only noticeable change was that Christina's eyes changed from an icy blue to emerald green like Lily's. Aside from that, the black-haired girl appeared identical to as she appeared when Sirius had given her to them.

Over the next year and a half, Christina Grace Potter, Heir of the Most Ancient and Noble Houses of Black and Potter, lived a happy life. James and Lily proved they were good parents

But then the Potter's were informed that Voldemort was after their daughter, due to a prophecy, by Albus Dumbledore. Going into hiding, they trusted the wrong person, and Voldemort came for him.

Seeing Lily Potter killed in front of her, and the scary snake-faced man raise his wand, Christina's magic acted out…activating the dormant mutant gene in her blood, a gene which would have likely remained dormant until her teens otherwise, and turned her body to diamond as a green light streaked towards her.

The green light struck her and reflected off of her diamond form back at the snake-faced man.

With a terrible scream, the man disappeared, and Christina's body returned to normal.

Scared and alone, she began to cry.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

It was to the scene of his daughter crying, with empty robes and the body of Lily laying before the crib, that Sirius had walked in on.

Picking the crying Christina from the crib, he rocked her gently until she calmed down.

But even holding his daughter, Sirius Black was filled with grief and fury. He decided then and there to go after Peter, but he also knew that he couldn't leave his daughter alone.

Debating silently with himself for a few moments, he called, "Kreacher!"

With a small crack, his family's old house-elf appeared in front of him. "Bad Master calls Kreacher. Mistress would be so ashamed," the elf muttered.

"Quiet," Sirius commanded. His mother had died recently, and even if he hated it, Grimmauld Place was the most secure location that he, as Lord Black, owned. "You will take my daughter to Grimmauld Place, and put the manor on lock-down," Sirius commanded. "You will care for and protect her to the best of your abilities until I return. If I do not return, you will raise her as Lady of the Black and Potter families. Am I clear?"

Kreacher hesitated, but said, "Yes…Master."

Reluctantly, Sirius handed Christina to Kreacher. "Go now," he commanded.

The elf and infant vanished with a crack.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Albus Dumbledore was worried.

Hagrid had informed him of encountering Sirius Black outside the Potters when he had sent Hagrid to retrieve Christina. Apparently Black already had the girl, and assured Hagrid she was in a safe place.

He didn't tell the half-giant anything else, before leaving to go after Black.

And though he had been captured by the Ministry, and sent to Azkaban, when he was interviewed, Black had refused to tell where Christina Potter was. And as a Black, Sirius occlumency was too good for the Headmaster to look into.

Say what you want about the Blacks, they were good at two things, the mind arts and fighting.

Hopefully some time with the Dementors would weaken those shields.

He needed to know where Christina Black was. He needed to prepare her for her destiny.

It was for the greater good.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kreacher didn't like Master Sirius.

Master Sirius left the family, and Kreacher's loyalty was to the Black family and the Black family alone. And while his favorite master, Master Regulus, defied his family, he never abandoned them like Sirius had.

Yet he knew that Christina (her knew her name due to his link to the Black Family) was not old enough to share Master Sirius views. And as he knew Master Sirius was in Azkaban (due to his link), it was now his duty to raise the young Mistress.

And he was determined to raise her to be the best Lady of Black there was.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000

FOUR YEARS LATER

Christina Black had never known what lay beyond Number Twelve Grimmauld Place.

Kreacher never allowed her to leave the house, the closest she got was the back garden and rooftop green house. And despite her commands to the contrary, Kreacher's orders to raise her came from the previous, and still living, Lord Black. Until her father's death, his orders took precedence over her own.

Since he ordered Kreacher to raise her, the elf had a lot of leeway on which orders of hers to follow. He basically had permission not to obey her if he felt it was detrimental to her development or welfare.

Still, aside from a lack of friends and desire to leave the house, Christina didn't hate her life.

Kreacher kept the home clean, and her healthily feed. And he gave her lessons on reading, math, and history.

She didn't know it, but few five-year olds could read and understand the books in the Black Family Library. As she had little to do outside of her lessons, she spent a lot of time reading. Her favorites were books on occlumency and legilimency, a skill that came easy to her, though as he was the only being she had ever known, she had only ever actively read Kreacher's thoughts.

Though she did hear the thoughts of their muggle neighbors on either side of the manor at times.

It was because of this that Christina knew that when Kreacher taught her various methods of cooking (specifically techniques, such as the difference between slicing and dicing) it was to prepare her for her potion lessons at Hogwarts.

On top of her natural talent for the mind arts, Christina found that she was able to turn her body into a diamond like substance, which increased her strength, endurance, and dampened her emotions. Though she was unable to use legillimancy when in her diamond form, she spent plenty of time experimenting with what she was able to do while in it.

Still, she loved Kreacher. The elf may be annoying at times, but he truly had her best interest at heart.

She was looking forward to his future lessons especially. She knew he was reading about knife fighting, and had vanished to watch actual fighters so that he could teacher how to wield a blade effectively.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Sirius collapsed to the filthy cot that passed for a bed.

Once more Dumbledore had come to try and find out where Christina was. This time he'd brought a potion, recently invented, called veritaserum.

It was only because of the poorly worded questions that Sirius was able to resist the urge to answer the questions properly. And he was sure Dumbledore would figure that out and be back shortly to try again.

Oh how he hated that bastard.

Dumbledore knew Sirius wasn't the Secret Keeper, he'd been the one to cast the Fidelius Charm after-all. And since Sirius was still in Azkaban, he was allowing him to rot in here.

Though for what purpose Sirius had no idea. With how obsessed the headmaster seemed to be with his daughter however, Lord Black didn't trust him.

He needed to protect his daughter.

He knew he couldn't call Kreacher to escape, he'd tried that already and the elf never appeared. Dumbledore also made sure he couldn't become Padfoot. Apparently the Headmaster knew all about his, Peter, and James' animagus forms. So that route of escape was out as well.

Looking down at the thin blanket on his bed, Sirius Black came to a grim decision.

He couldn't talk if he was dead.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Kreacher paused in his work as he felt his link to Master Sirius fade.

He knew it meant that another master had died.

Praising the Young Mistress as she completed her first potion, Kreacher resumed his duty, his heart slightly heavy at the loss of the man that fathered Mistress Christina.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Albus Dumbledore was furious. He now had no leads on where to look for Christina Potter.

Sirius Black had been found hanging in his cell, having killed himself. Probably realizing that Albus would be back with more pointed questions to ask and a new bottle of veritaserum.

He admitted that he should have practiced with the new potion so that he knew its limitations beforehand, but that was hindsight.

Just about the only place's Albus hadn't looked were the Black properties. But that was only because he knew Sirius had been disowned, and thus wouldn't have ever been able to gain access to hide the girl there.

With a sigh, Dumbledore resigned himself to the fact that he'd need to wait until Hogwarts letters were sent out to find the girl.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

This story, called Black Queen is a story that I completely forgot about. I was looking through some of the older stories I have on my computer and found it. I saw the title, Black Queen, and thought 'I don't remember what that story is about. After reading it, or rather re-reading I love what I have. But I have no idea where I was going with it, or where I should go with it.

About the only thing I figured is that, with Sirius now dead, Kreacher now has to follow Cristina's orders, she goes outside and, for the first time since she in no longer under a magical ward, she is detected as a mutant be Cerebro/Cerebra and tracked down by the X-Men, her natural "legilimancy" actually being telepathy. At some point Emma would have to find out about her, but I don't remember if Emma was going to be with the X-Men at this point, or still with the Hellfire Club.

Anyway, Please PM or Review if you adopt.
