This story was called 'The Grimm's Fuchsbau'. what spawned his idea is explained down below in my included author's note. I'm giving it up because...while I still want to see the story done, I've lost interest in doing it myself.

Anyway, there was going to be some friction when Nick and Rosalee discover what the other is...but I didn't get that far. I also didn't know how far I was going to get before I started radically changing things.

Anyway, I hope, as with all the stories here, someone will pick this up.

And as always, please PM me if you are adopting it.

I Do Not Own Grimm

This story idea came about from two ideas. One, I like Monroe, but there are not enough Nick/Rosalee fanfictions. The second idea was that Nick was with a Wesen when his Grimm powers came into being.

This of course presents a few issues, which I think I've solved logically enough.

This prologue explains the first meeting between Nick and Rosalee and how they got together, and the official first chapter will involve them finding out what the other is.

Hope you enjoy.

Prologue

Rosalee Calvert sighed in relief as she sat down on the couch in her apartment and removed her shoes.

If there was one thing she hated about being a waitress, is was being on her feet all day. Still, it was better than being jobless, in jail, or an addict, all of which she had previously experienced.

Leaning back, she smiled as her gaze landed on a picture setting on her end table. In the picture, she was sitting on a park bench with her boyfriend. His arm was wrapped around her shoulders, holding her close as they both smiled at the camera.

Sadly, theirs was a long distance relationship, and she really only got to see Nick the weekends he wasn't on-call, or when she decided to take a trip up to Portland

It wasn't a far drive from Seattle, only about two and a half hours, but it was far enough that she couldn't afford to make the trip too often, especially on a waitress' salary. Still, Skype and frequent phone calls helped them maintain their relationship. And Nick would often call her at the end of his shift, just so she knew he was alright, even if he had to leave a voice-mail.

Nick was a detective up in Portland, mostly dealing with homicides. But he occasionally was involved in other things that required police manpower.

She'd met him when she had gone up to Portland to visit her brother Freddy. He was the only member of her family that she really talked to anymore. Her mother and sister had never forgiven her for missing her father's funeral, despite the fact she was serving time in jail for shoplifting at the time.

After she got out, Freddy had helped her clean up her act, and she'd moved to Seattle for a fresh start.

Being a former criminal, she sometimes found it ironic that she was now dating a cop. They'd sat next to each other in a bar, and started talking, they exchanged numbers, and a week later he'd called to see if she was free. They'd been dating since.

She frowned as she considered the fact they'd been dating a little over a year now. She was honestly considering moving back to Portland, it wasn't like she couldn't get a job waitressing there. Hell, if he asked, she would gladly move in with Nick, even marry him.

The problem was that she would need to explain to him what she was.

Rosalee was Wesen, Fuchsbau specifically. Wesen were para-human creatures, displaying two sets of DNA in one organism. Fuchsbau were human and fox in one. Unlike other canid types of Wesen, she, and other Fuchsbau, wasn't stronger than regular humans, though she was just slightly faster. But Fuchsbau had excellent noses, even in human form. If they woged, and showed their other self, that sensitivity became even better.

Typically, humans couldn't see Wesen woge. And it usually only happened voluntarily or in times of extreme emotion or stress. But Wesen could chose to woge visibly to humans. This visible woge was what inspired many of the old legends and tales. Blutbad for example were the inspiration of the Big Bad Wolf, while Wildermann were the inspiration for Bigfoot, just to name a couple of examples.

The exception to humans not seeing them were Grimms, who were able to see what they truly were. Typically, Grimms hunted Wesen, or were used by the Royals to control them. They were the boogeyman of the Wesen world, though they were actually quite rare.

She had never actually seen a Grimm herself. And to be perfectly honest, she was alright with that. The last thing she wanted was her head cut off.

But if she wanted to progress farther in her relationship with Nick, she'd have to reveal what she was. At least, that was the right thing to do. She didn't believe keeping secrets, especially big secrets like that, were healthy for a relationship.

She just...wasn't sure how to tell him. Though she was sure she'd have to woge in order for him to believe her.

She closed her eyes and took a breath to relax. It wouldn't do her any good to worry about it now. Nick was on-call this weekend and she had to work, so she wouldn't see him until next week at the earliest. Standing up, she made her way to her bathroom.

She needed a nice warm shower.

Detective Nick Burkhardt sighed as he looked down at the ring he had purchased earlier in the day.

Closing the box he slipped the ring back into his pocket and rested his head in his hands.

"God damn it," he sighed.

The day had been going so well. Sure, he started seeing...things. And he still wasn't entirely sure what he was seeing Plus he'd had to begin a murder investigation in regards to a female jogger torn to pieces, but that was his job. Still he had a ring, and he had a plan for proposing to his girlfriend. And then his Aunt Marie had surprised him with a visit.

From there however, things...just began falling apart.

First his Aunt tells him he should break up with Rosalee, for her own safety. Then she explains that the things he's seeing, is a family trait, that he's a Grimm. And before she can get to in depth, the two of them are attacked and his Aunt, the woman who raised him since he was twelve, the only one who could explain what the hell was happening to him, ended up in a coma.

He hadn't called Rosalee yet. He...to be honest he didn't know what to do now.

Especially after reading some of the things in this trailer.

Looking at his phone, he noticed it was almost three in the morning. Still...

He dialed Rosalee's number.

Rosalee was awoken by the ringing of her phone. reaching over to where it rested on her nightstand, she picked it up to look at the caller ID. Seeing it was Nick, she answered, "Do you have any idea what time it is?"

"Sorry if I woke you," he apologized, but his tone caused Rosalee to sit up. "I just needed to hear your voice."

"Nick, is everything alright?"

There was a pause on the other end of the phone, before her boyfriend answered. "Not really. My Aunt Marie stopped in for a surprise visit...she was attacked Rosalee."

"My god," she muttered. "Is she alright?"

"She's in the hospital," he said after a moment. "I would have called earlier, but I...Everything's so messed up right now. Rosalee, I had to shoot the man who attacked her."

The Fuchsbau covered her mouth, even as she felt herself woge, both out of fear for Nick, and anger that someone had forced him to take a life. The woge vanished just as quickly as it appeared. "Are you alright?" she finally asked. "Do you want me to come up?

"I'm fine, physically at least. Not so sure how I'm doing emotionally or psychologicallyyet, but hearing your voice helps. And you don't have to come up, I have a case to distract me, and I'm afraid I'd spend most of my free time at the hospitaluntil..." He sighed. "I don't know if she's going to come out of the Hospital Rosalee. Before she was attacked, she told me she had cancer, pretty advanced. She admitted that just because of the cancer she could die any day, and the attack certainly hasn't helped things."

"I'm so sorry Nick," she told him, offering what little comfort she could over the phone. "Listen, I'll see if I can get some of my shifts covered and come up. At the very least I can be there if you need anything."

"You don't have to you know."

"I want to."

"In that case, thank you."

"No problem," she assured him. "Have you gotten any sleep yet?"

"No." he sighed audibly.

"You still going into work tomorrow?"

"I'm in the middle of a case, so yeah."

"Then try and get some sleep. You need it."

She heard him chuckle lightly on the other end. "I'll try. I'm sorry again for waking you."

"It's alright," she assured him. "I love you."

"I love you too."
