Chapter two: Changing my destiny!

Mikey returned to the penthouse with a throbbing head. He should probably take some pain meds. He put his hover-board on a charger and headed to his room.

"Oh, Mikey. You're back early," Donnie said, noticing his brother's return. "Are you okay? You don't look so good."

"Just a bit of a headache. I'll be fine," Mikey forced a smile, but Donnie could tell Mikey was hurt. He slipped his brother's arm around his shoulder.

"Let me help you to your room. I'll bring you some pain medicine too."

Annoyed, Mikey shoved Donnie away.

"I said I'm fine! Stop treating me like a hatchling!"

Donnie was confused by Mikey's outburst. "I was only trying to help."

Mikey felt a little bad that he had yelled at Donnie, but he didn't feel like apologizing either.

"I just need to be alone," Mikey mumbled and handed the helmet to Donnie. He went upstairs to his bedroom.

Donnie examined the helmet. It didn't appear to be damaged, but Donnie figured it would be best to observe it further. Judging by how Mikey had looked so hurt, he may have suffered from a concussion.

Mikey lied down on his bed and pulled the covers over his head. He was starting to think that maybe he did sustain a concussion from his little accident. He just needed a little quiet and no sunlight...

A knock on the door made him groan.

"Who is it?"

"It's me," called the familiar voice of Cody. "May I come in?"

As long as it wasn't one of his brothers.

"Yeah, door's open," Mikey called. Cody came in and Mikey noticed he was holding a trey.

"Donnie told me you didn't look so hot earlier, so I decided to bring you some medicine and food. Donnie figured you didn't want to see him."

"Thanks, Cody," Mikey managed a smile. He popped the two pain pills in his mouth and swallowed it with juice.

"Donnie said you were a bit steamed. Did something happen while you were out?" Cody questioned.

"I had a little board accident. Nothing too serious."

Cody shrugged. "Okay. If you need anyone, just call Serling. The guys and I are here too if you need anything," he turned to the door to leave.

"Hey, Cody. Can I ask you something?" Mikey asked the young teenager. Cody smiled.

"Sure."

"If you could change your destiny...would you?"

Cody wasn't sure how to answer the turtle. "What do you mean?"

"Say you were in my shell and you had three older brothers nagging you. Would you want them gone, or maybe turn the tables to where you were the oldest one?"

Cody thought about this and put a finger to his chin. "Well, if I could change my destiny, I would find a way to change time and make Uncle Darius not so...evil. Maybe make him more tolerable of you guys and stay here in the penthouse with me and Serling. But life is what it is."

"Yeah...maybe...," Mikey mumbled, turning away.

"If something is going on between you and the guys, I know you'll get through it somehow." Cody told him. He turned towards the door again and chuckled. "You always do, after all."

Mikey was alone with his thoughts. He took out the orb from his gauntlet and looked it over. If he could go back in time and be the only turtle...the thought was tempting.

"Nah, I can't wish for that," Mikey dismissed the thought. "It might be fun at first, but I would still be lonely without my bros."

How did the orb work anyway? Maybe it was like a magic lamp like in the movies and it grants your desires when you rub it. Mikey tried it, but the orb didn't glow or show any signs of change. He sighed and lied down, staring at the ceiling.

"Maybe if I was the older one and my brothers had to listen to whatever I told them...?"

Another knock from the door interrupted his thoughts and Leo walked in.

"Hey, Mikey. I heard you lashed out at Don a bit earlier, so I wanted to make sure everything was okay."

"Oh...it's you, Leo," Mikey mumbled, crossing his arms and pouting. "What do you want?"

"I figured you wanted to talk. Donnie's pretty down about earlier, so I wondered if maybe there was something you wanted to get off your shell?" Leo suggested.

"I'm not going to apologize! Donnie's always nagging me, and his invention of a first aid helmet is dumb!"

"Well, he didn't make that helmet just for you. Raph has one, and so do I. He's just looking out for us. You know he doesn't like seeing us hurt," Leo told him. Mikey was quiet, but a thought came to him and he was curious.

"Tell me something, Leo. If you could have one day alone to yourself, would you do it?"

"What kind of question is that?" Leo asked with a raised eyebrow. "Kinda random."

"Just answer the question."

Leo didn't know why Mikey was asking something like this and he still looked pretty annoyed. "Well, a day to myself does sound nice, but.."

"A-ha! You admit it!" Mikey accused.

"Admit what, Mikey? What's gotten into you?"

"You wish you never had brothers! You wish you were alone! You especially think I'm a pain!" Mikey stood up from the bed, his eyes looking raging red. It scared Leo a bit. He had never seen Mikey this way.

"Hold on, I never said that!" Leo told him. He put a hand on Mikey's shoulder, but Mikey pulled away. Leo noticed he was gripping some kind of orb in his hand.

"Well, I had enough! I'm tired of being the little brother! I'm old enough to make my own choices!" he raised the orb in the air and it started to glow bright. "I wish I was the older brother!"

"Mikey, what are you doing?" Leo asked, blocking his eyes from the bright light. Mikey smirked mischievously, but it was oddly making Leo worry.

"Changing my destiny!" Mikey declared before smashing the orb on the floor. The room was filled with a blinding light. When Leo could see again, Mikey was gone!

"Mieky?!" Leo picked up the orb. It didn't look like anything ordinary. He'll have to have Don examine it further. "Where did you go, Mikey?"
