"So, does the baby sheep have a name?" Frieza posed as he leered over to the man.
The teen offered a proud smile and said, "The name's Trunks. I take it you're Frieza and you are…King Cold?" He looked unsure of Cooler's identity, which was rightfully so.
Cooler quirked a brow at the boy while Frieza offered a joyous laugh. "In his dreams maybe!" the younger tyrant guffawed, much to Cooler's annoyance. Frieza sobered up enough to straighten up and say, "No, dear boy, this is my idiotic brother, Cooler."
"The pleasure is all mine," Cooler griped sarcastically as he cut his eyes over from Frieza and back to Trunks, who looked thoroughly bewildered.
"Well…that's surprising," the boy offered as he studied Cooler.
"Quite," Frieza said and then lifted a hand to point at Trunks, a malicious smile forming. "As I'm sure this will be." On cue, the tyrant fired a large death beam at the teen.
Trunks watched the blast with an unimpressed expression before simply backhanding it aside, leaving it to fly off into the nearest rock formation with a red-flashing explosion. "And I'm sure it was," Trunks quirked with a smile, now with his eyes focused back on Frieza.
"…quite," Frieza scoffed, slightly taken aback by the boy's brazenness. "Cooler, would you like to handle this one?" he asked, blankly.
Cooler turned a lazily glance to Frieza. "It's all yours, brother," he offered as he folded his arms in boredom.
Frieza scoffed and took two steps forward. "Why did I even bother?" he asked to himself before turning his full attention to Trunks. He took a second to stretch his arms and fingers, slightly enjoying the pops that occurred during the stretching. "So then, boy, tell me: Where is the Super Saiyan? It was my intentions to rip him to shreds, but I suppose I can take out time for a little warmup with you."
Trunks smiled confidently. "Goku will be here soon; not that it matters, since you won't get the chance to meet him." he said as he watched Frieza, who looked ready to charge in at any moment. "But, if it's a Super Saiyan you want, I'll be more than happy to oblige."
Both Frieza and Cooler's eyes sprouted in shock at the boy's words, but weren't given a second to reprieve before Trunks's aura flared and energy blew into them with gusts of wind. Both brothers snarled at the unexpected gust and then looked back to their visitor with malice in their eyes, but that malice soon turned to shock and horror as they took in the golden radiance of the all-too-familiar form he'd taken.
"Im…possible!" Frieza awed.
"Not another one!" Cooler snapped as anger flared in his body.
For his part, Trunks offered the mischievous duo a proud smile. "I imagine this is quite surprising as well."
Just the confident gleam in Trunks's emerald eyes was enough to send Frieza over the edge. "NO!" the tyrant yelled out furiously as his rage flared and his aura ripped at the ground around them, sending up a large cloud of dirt. Trunks and Cooler blocked their eyes against the rush of debris and their senses kicked in quick to force them to look into the sky, shock dropping once more as they noted the hot-headed tyrant in the air with a huge Supernova at his command. "I don't know what kind of game you're trying to play, but there's one thing you should know!" The Frost demon lifted both hands, taking control of the super-bomb and swung the mighty ball down to the ground. "Frieza always gets the win!"
With a snarl, Cooler leapt into the air to dodge the impending explosion. Trunks, though, looked into the massive ball of fiery energy with an unimpressed glare and simply allowed the ball to crash down over him.
Frieza cackled out with a rousing laugh as he watched the Supernova slowly plow its way into the ground with Trunks buried beneath its might. "Well that was simple," he announced as he followed Cooler onto the roof of the space cruiser. "Not even that other wretched monkey would've been taken care of so easy. Little kid should've just stayed home with his mother."
"It isn't over yet," Cooler spoke, blandly as he looked to the Supernova, noticing that it had stopped pressing into the ground.
The action missed on Frieza's part, the younger brother said, "Of course not. I don't want to destroy this planet yet. We have to get those dragon balls and make my wish. I'll let the bomb drift a bit lower, though."
"The boy's not dead, Frieza."
"What?" the tyrant responded before his attention was drawn back to the Supernova as it was suddenly thrust back out of the hole. "WHAT!"
The brothers watched as Trunks slowly and methodically rose out of the hole while he easily carried the Supernova in one hand above his head. The Super Saiyan warrior stepped back out on level ground and looked up at Cooler and Frieza with a bright smile on his face. "Looks like you dropped the ball on that one, Frieza," he called out humorously.
Frieza snarled like an angry beast before pointing a finger at Trunks and the Supernova and blasting a beam directly at it. "Drop this!" he sneered as the beam connected and instantly, the Supernova was detonated right atop Trunks's head with a glorious explosion that forced Cooler and Frieza to crouch down against the maelstrom wind.
Once again, Frieza turned to gloating as he proudly perceived his victory once more, but as he turned to Cooler, his joy was dashed. "What is it?" he asked tentatively.
Cooler took one glance behind them and said, "Take a good guess."
Frieza followed Cooler's line of sight and instantly locked onto Trunks, who stood atop a tall rock formation far away from the ship. "This blasted little punk!" he griped.
Meanwhile, Trunks performed an erratic movement of his hands before pointing them directly down at the two tyrants. "My turn, Frieza!" he yelled out as a beachball sized orb shot from his palms.
Frieza and Cooler were quick to dodge the blast, leaping into the air as it connected with their space cruiser in a destructive explosion. Cooler looked back to their spaceship with the smallest amount of regret before his senses peaked once more.
"Dammit, Cooler! You've done absolutely nothing to be of help and now, thanks to you, our ship is in ruins!" Frieza snapped angrily, completely missing the glance Cooler offered to the sky. "If you think that this performance is gaining you any points with me, then you're sadly mistaken! Do something to be of help or crawl in a hole and die!"
Cooler scoffed as he looked to his brother then, the ghost of a smile on his face. "Sure thing, little brother. How about you start by looking up?" he said before gliding far out of the way.
Frieza quirked a brow in confusion before he looked to the sky above him and nearly had a heart attack at the sight: Trunks falling down upon him with his sword aimed to slice.
Cooler watched the scene with a wicked gleam in his eye and as he watched Trunks's sword cleave right through his brother's body, the older tyrant inwardly glowed at the achievement. He watched as Trunks proceeded to dice Frieza's body up into several tiny chunks before he placed out one hand and successfully erased Frieza from existence.
With a sigh of relief, Cooler dropped out of the sky, landing back on the rough dirt of the wasteland. He looked back to the sky, noting the ashes that drifted down before being caught up in a breeze and carried off. "So long, Frieza," he crooned happily as he watched the scene.
Meanwhile, Trunks was just then landing atop a nearby rock formation and he looked down to Cooler with a brow quirked in surprise. Gently, he sheathed his sword and watched the odd galactic tyrant a moment longer before speaking. "If I didn't know any better, I would say that you're glad that I just killed your brother."
As if roused out of a dream, Cooler looked over to Trunks and offered a wicked smile. "More than you could ever know," he replied back. The air around Cooler shifted then as some of the pebbles by his feet trembled.
Trunks watched Cooler for a long time then, watching as the maniacal tyrant glared right across at him with a hunger in his eyes. "I see…" he offered after a long pause. "I've never heard anything about you, but I have no doubt in my mind that you are Frieza's brother."
"…quite," Cooler offered before bursting from his position on the dirt. A cloud of debris blew out from behind the tyrant as he darted at Trunks with amazing speed.
Trunks's eye widened in shock at the maneuver, but he quickly readied himself as Cooler flew in with a devastating punch right at the boy's midsection. Easily enough, Trunks blocked the attack, but Cooler brightened with a mischievous smile as he pressed hard into the attack and knocked the Super Saiyan off the rock formation. The mysterious Saiyan warrior darted back through the air, but was quick to regain his body as he looked to Cooler, who was closing in for another attack.
With grunt of frustration, Trunks spun through his perilous flight and spun up with a kick right as Cooler had been ready to strike with another punch. The two warriors' limbs met in the middle as Trunks leg connected with Cooler's hand, forcing out a thunder clap as the two heavy-hitters struck.
"Come on, Super Saiyan! Let's see how far I've come!" Cooler called out aggressively as he swung up with a kick of his own.
Easily, Trunks dodged the strike and spun quickly to deliver an elbow to the tyrant's skull, but Cooler was just as quick and deftly swatted the boy's strike aside. With a grunt, Trunks spun around once more and aimed a punch for Cooler's jaw and Cooler mirrored the movement. Both warriors connected at precisely the same time, a fist buried in their jaws and snapping their heads aside. Cooler felt the punch harder and Trunks was quicker to recover before spinning with a knee to the Arcosian's stomach and an axe handle across his back.
Cooler flew out of the air like a rocket and only managed to recover just seconds before impact. With a quick spin, he slammed down onto the dirt feet first and offered a dangerous leer back up at Trunks, who was watching the tyrant like a hawk.
Calmly, Cooler pushed his-self up to standing. He took a moment to rub at his cheek and actually found solace in the stinging sensation that came with it. Nosa was tough, but he just couldn't offer Cooler the kind of challenge that Trunks was putting on the table. He actually offered a momentary smile.
"Care to turn this up a bit?" he offered.
"Ready when you are," Trunks responded.
Cooler's smile turned hungry then as his aura flashed to life. He'd started that little bout with Trunks at 50%, but judging by how painful Trunks's strikes were, he could tell that he'd never make it far at that level. Still, he was able to offer a momentary challenge, and that spoke volumes for how far he'd come since Namek. With that thought in mind, Cooler crouched down as his aura roared with power, the ground around his feet cracking as he powered up.
"50% percent put you on your toes! But let's see how you handle 100%!" he yelled out confidently as his muscles took on a more defined state. When he'd completed his power up, he looked back up at Trunks, whose aura had also flared to life as he readied himself.
Without another word, Cooler darted back into the sky. Like a missile, he charged right at Trunks, and the two super-beings clashed once more. Fist met fist as they challenged one another, but Cooler was the first to break this clash as he struck out with a rapid kick that nearly knocked Trunks's head from his shoulders. With a laugh, Cooler aimed to press his attack, but was halted as Trunks came back to life in an instant and crashed a thunderous fist into the tyrant's face. Cooler rocked back in agony, but recovered quickly and launched back into battle with Trunks, who was more than happy to meet the challenge. With a flash, the two shot higher into the air as they met in frenzy of punches and kicks. Claps of thunder rang out around the sky as the two clashed about, moving at such an incredible pace that they couldn't even be seen by the human eye.
Yet, with one final clash, the two suddenly came into sight as Trunks was sent spearing out of the air, his face the picture of pain. Cooler watched the freefalling Saiyan with a happy smile before suddenly channeling energy into his left palm. "Take this, you insolent Saiyan brat!" he yelled out, throwing both arms back to prepare the attack before flinging them forward and sending out the large blue wave of energy.
As Trunks flew through the air, his eyes twitched as his senses picked up on his immediate danger. His aura instinctively flared to life as his eyes opened wide and looked to what was barreling down upon him. With a sneer, the teen sped up his precarious flight until he was flying out of the air at a breakneck pace. In no time, Trunks landed back onto the ground and looked skyward as Cooler's blast rushed down towards him.
The teen lifted both hands in the air then, a small orb of golden ki forming. "Finish Buster!" he proclaimed as the ball of ki suddenly multiplied in size. Without wasting a second, Trunks threw his attack up to meet Cooler's and they smashed together so perfectly that Cooler's wave was stopped instantly.
Cooler sneered out angrily as his attack was halted, but with one grunt of concentration poured more energy into his attack, forcing it to careen over Trunk's Finish Buster and nearly swallow the golden orb whole. However, Trunks held strong as he forced his control over the blast to remain dominant. Whatever leverage Cooler had gained in that moment was taken away as Trunks's blast slowly pushed its way back to Cooler.
"Impossible!" the tyrant yelled out angrily as he tried his hardest to combat the attack.
"Come on," Trunks grunted in frustration as his feet dug into the dirt and forced his hands out as far as they could go. "Come on! Come on!" Trunks aura roared with his might as the very ground around him ripped with his increasing power.
And with that added push, Trunks's Finish Buster pressed against Cooler's attack with such aggression that it barreled right into the blast and soared right up the middle of Cooler's wave of energy. The tyrant's eyes widened in fear and shock as Trunks's attack rushed at him with such amazing speed. He couldn't even think of dodging before it was too late. The golden energy exploded out of Cooler's attack and crashed over the tyrant with a flash of light that was soon overtaken with a massive explosion.
Trunks hissed and sighed as he stood on the ground and looked to his handiwork in the sky. He allowed his aura to die out as he stood there and tried to gain his breath. "This guy's way more than I expected," he griped as he looked to the sky, knowing full well that his work wasn't done. "But if he thinks that he'll beat me, then he's sorely mistaken."
In no time, the smoke from the explosion wafted away, leaving a scorched and burned Cooler in its wake. The galactic tyrant remained floating in the sky, anger written all over his face as he looked down on Trunks. Soon enough, Cooler slowly lowered himself out of the sky and came to rest on the ground, a safe distance away from Trunks.
Before saying anything he took a moment to make note of the various marks around his body and scowled at the sight. "Well, then 100% won't get me far against you either, I see. It puts me on level ground with you strength and speed wise, but your overall power still far exceeds mine," he said as he analyzed the latest developments in the fight.
"Face the facts, Cooler," Trunks said, capturing the tyrant's attention. "You can't beat me. You're leaps and bounds stronger than your brother, but you can't possibly expect to challenge a Super Saiyan." Cooler scowled at that retort. "I wish that I could let you go, but a person like you will never stop hurting innocent people and I refuse to allow that to happen." He placed a hand forward, a ball of ki forming. "Now then, I promised myself to finish this before Goku arrives and I will succeed in doing that."
Cooler watched Trunks curiously for a moment before his sour expression melted into one of laughter. The tyrant guffawed relentlessly as he looked upon Cooler, his fit of joy striking so strongly that he curled in on himself, which certainly made Trunks halt the attack he'd been ready to issue. "Yo-you really think that this is the end?" Cooler managed to say around the laughter that had overtaken him. "You idiotic boy!" Cooler sobered up enough to stand fully. His humorous smile lingered, but the offense was coated in his words. "Don't you know who I am? I am Cooler, the most illustrious fighter in the galaxy!"
Trunks scoffed and began channeling energy for his attack once again. "Right," he said, unimpressed.
"Yes, Trunks; I was very happy when I watched you eradicate my brother from existence," Cooler went on to say, completely unmoved by Trunks's resolve. "That was because you had done me a huge favor." The air around them suddenly shifted, making Trunks stave off his attack once more as he looked around curiously. "That entire five month flight out to this backwater planet, all that I could think about, was how to eliminate my wretched brother from existence, and who would've guessed that you'd be the one to take care of it for me…and right before my eyes no less." Cooler's voice shifted then, dropping down several octaves while his red irises slowly expanded to cover his entire eye ball. "After my failed attempt on Namek, Trunks, it's really me that is sorry that I can't let you go."
Whatever thoughts of attack Trunks had planned was erased instantly as he watched Cooler's body slowly morph, grow, and change into something right out of nightmares. A fearsome gust slammed against the boy then, making him block his eyes while Cooler's power seemed to grow to astronomical levels.
Cooler's wicked laugh sounded out over the area once more. However, the ominous energy that it carried was anything but humorous. With a slight tremble in his arm, Trunks lowered it so that he could take in the full terror that met him in that moment. Cooler stood tall as he looked down on the boy, his red eyes practically glowing with malice as the dirt cloud around them slowly dissipated.
"It's really a pity, Trunks," Cooler's dark voice announced as his bone mask slowly shifted over his mouth. "I'd let you go, but...I really don't want to."
