Chapter 20
The second semester of school started, for the most part it was nice except for a few problems coming along. Hadrian got the syllabus for the year above and began studying at a furious pace. The material seemed straightforward in his opinion as he was able to pick up a lot of the information. According to a call he got from Miwa via watches she also got the similar thing going on and warned him to be careful when he got back. Harry didn't need to be told twice even though he was the top student in Mahoutokoro, it didn't mean that the other members were happy about it. However, he didn't care about them as they were not important and stuck to his job.
After his meeting with Dumbledore word spread like fiendfyre and all of the students could be heard talking about it. Needless to say, that the purebloods and many half-bloods were furious when they heard how Granger tried to get Potter to hand over his family grimoire. That did not go over well as many of the students in slytherins were furious as a muggleborn had dared try to have something as precious as a grimoire separated from its owner. Severus was colder to her as he just chose to either make comments about her or ignore her when she would raise her hand to answer questions.
The gryffindors were not particularly popular at the moment as since it was Granger and Weasley who caused them to not only lose a major number of points but a lot of credibility. While some were mad at Harry, he waved it off as if it didn't matter. A large number of hufflepuffs were furious as they found out about what Weasley said to Bones and were glaring daggers at the boy. The ravenclaws were no different as they wouldn't even go near the two as they chose to ignore them at all cost and would even leave if Granger tried to sit with them.
One night at dinner Dumbledore announced that the students will now be receiving a progress report about their grades and a copy would be sent to their parents. Some were ecstatic with their grades and were glad to see where they would be ranked. Others not so much as many of them received letters from angry parents (excluding the members of the Weasley except for Percy who received a howler courtesy of their mother). Boy did that woman have a set of lungs as she berated her children for not trying harder in school.
The good thing was that Severus birthday came and went. The potions master received a variety of gifts but the ones he liked the most were from his son. Hadrian gave him a six occamy eggs and twelve vials of hydra tears. Severus thanked him profusely and was able to complete his project for his sorcerer's degree, though he neglected to say what it was supposed to do.
Pretty soon one of the teachers from Mahoutokoro arrived to take Harry to Japan for his exams, something that he had been waiting for. He had been training vigorously in martial combat as that was part of the second part of the exam. Him and Miwa were going to be tested and had to prove themselves to the teachers that they were ready to move forward. The two friends would be put with the fifth years and they were eager to meet the challenge as the both of them worked hard.
Upon arrival at the palace, one the staff members gave him a potion to help him accumulate to the time zone. The man summoned a house elf and had it send the boy's luggage to one of the spare dorm rooms. When the elf popped away Harry was led into the building where he encountered some of the other students who welcomed him back. He sensed that his sister and Miwa were around and found saw the coming his way. After an exchange of hugs and friendly banter, Harry was given a list of the exams he had signed up for.

For the next 19 days he would be put through a series of test. Taking a deep breath as he mentally prepared for what was to come. He was escorted to the headmaster office where he was met by headmaster Yoshi. The man elaborated about the circumstances Harry was in about being put into a group of fifth years. He gave him the choice to either stay where he was or be put with the fifth years.
Harry immediately replied "I will stick with the 5th years, sir" the determination in his eyes indicated that he was ready. He would see this through to the end.
Arata let a smile grow on his face at the boy resolve. Very rarely he had ever seen a student rise to challenges such as these. Looking at him critically he gave a nod and dismissed him.
Harry gave a bow and left the room. As he made it to the courtyard he laid under a tree, enjoying the warm air. Lying under the tree he was about to close his eyes when he sensed someone was coming from behind him.
"It feels good to be back Shizuku" he looked to the side.
Just as he suspected she disillusioned herself and let out a groan. The charm melted off revealing his pouting sister "how did you know where I was?"
"Did you forget who taught you that spell!" he gave a cheeky grin and watched her mutter under her breath.
Since it was Friday there were no classes for the day, per the rules the students were given a three day relax period to catch up on their strategies or revise on their subjects. So, the entire student body were in regular clothes. She was wearing a white blouse and some blue jeans, not only that she was wearing her own locket. It looked exactly like his but had the inscription said, 'stay true to who you are' along with wearing Harry's gift to her. A small stunning pair of diamond earrings. Seeing that the game was up she took a seat next to him. "So, did you get your schedule?" she asked.
He handed her his timetable, so she could see what exams he had to do.
She handed it back to him. "You ready for the duels, big bro?"
"Born ready" he confirmed. "I can finally have some competition!"
Emily simply giggled; she knew her brother yearned for a challenge as Hogwarts didn't have any dueling classes. At least here he could cut loose a bit and prove who he was.
"Have you formulated your strategy for the battle" he asked.
To which she gave a nod. "Don't worry me and my friends came up with a strategy." She held up a hand when she saw that he was about to speak "relax I won't let my guard down. I know this is an all for one free for all."
He gave a soft chuckle "brilliant. But a quick piece of advice be unpredictable" he said with a grin.
She understood what he meant and took it to heart. If she wanted to come out as one of the last few standing, she would need to do a lot of improvising.
"They're my two favorite people" a familiar voice was heard.
Getting up they saw Miwa coming near them. She was wearing a pale yellow tunic top and blue pants. She kept her usual high ponytail, along with the hairpins she got from him.
"I take it all is good" she enquired. The two gave a nod saying that they were doing well.
She turned to Harry "you ready we need to go over our strategy?" He just gave a nod.
"Have to go Shizuku! "I'll see you tomorrow." He gave her a warm embrace that she returned.
The three started walking (Emily went to the Petrels) while Miwa and harry headed for the dorms. The two friends eventually got to the building and it was rather large as it was able house all the boarding students. It had dorm rooms, a dining room, and training station that had many different rooms that often worked like the room of requirement at Hogwarts. As they walked near the building, they saw some of the other students near the entrance. Harry recognized them as they were fifth years.
When the students spotted the duo, they started talking about them.
"Can't believe that the staff is really considering elevating Potter san and Kawada san" one of them said irritably.
"It's totally unfair" another member commented "Kawada san I understand. But that outsider not so much." He said with disgust.
The fool continued "he may have proven himself over the years, but he left to go to Hogwarts. That pathetic school is so weak that the students candle to us."
Harry was eerily reminded of some of the idiots he had to attend Hogwarts with.
The taller one didn't sound to pleased either "how do we even know that he is qualified for the next level? If you ask me, he should never have been accepted here."
His friends readily agreed another spoke up "Potter is not that tough; I fight him right here and now."
Finally, the last one spoke "easy Masaki we have to wait till the final duel to teach that bastard his place." He spoke with a cruel smile, while looking at Harry.
To his surprise both potter and Kawada ignored them and kept their pace in going inside. Entering the building, they were stopped by a house elf who arrived with a 'pop' "you be Potter san yes?"
Harry gave a nod and the elf handed him his room key. Then apparated away with a pop. Looking at his key it said room number 315, immediately pocketing the key he followed Miwa to her room. Her room was on the same floor as him making it to the door it said 302 in gold, pulling her key out she opened the door to allow them in.
The room was quite spacious when Harry walked in, he saw that there was a single bed, a desk for her to work, another door to the left that led to a bathroom, a closet for her wardrobe, and a glass slide door with a balcony.
Miwa made sure that the door to her balcony was locked adding some powerful wards so they wouldn't be disturbed and closing the blinds. Harry put a strong privacy ward on her door and made sure that no one on the outside could hear what they were doing. Finally, Miwa reached in her chest, pulled out a washboard and some dry erase markers, then flicked her wand from her holster and said "engorgio" enlarging it so that it would enlarge a bit.
Harry silently levitated it into the air and added array of runes to make it flow in the air and so that it was easy to move. Miwa stared at him in shock, while she was aware that he could do silent casting for a while now it was still a startling sight as it wasn't taught until sixth year.
"You got better with your silent casting" she commented.
He shot her a grin. "I've been practicing" he casually said.
"In that case, I'm going have to start learning it" Harry saw that she was determined to learn the art.
"It requires mental discipline you know. Meaning that you have to be skilled at occlumency" he replied. "But that's for a later time as we need to organize our strategy, remember the final test is an all-out duel."
Miwa expression became serious "right and we have to be prepared. There may not be killing but that can use other spells or methods to incapacitate us. We're going to need to use caution. As it is, we have two different attack patterns. We're going to need to add some more."
Harry immediately agreed as those attack patterns they came up with were effective but had a feeling that they wouldn't always be effective. They have been choreographing new ways on how to take out opponents, but they were still working out some of the bugs.
Harry spoke "alright we have two effective methods both Gamma and Epsilon. They may have worked in the past, but we can't always use them, the others might be able to find a weakness."
She gave a nod. "We are going to have to finish developing attack patterns Alpha and Beta. I know we worked on them before you left and talked about it over Christmas break, but we need to finalize them."
Miwa then started drawing the attack plans for plan Alpha, they were more or less almost done with it. Even went so far as to create hand signals to identify which strategies they would use. The plan was to divide and conquer their opponents; keep them off balance. One would attack the other would defend and when they got them right where they want them, they take them out.
They had spent over two hours finalizing the strategies for both plans until it was time to go practice them. Harry told her he meet her down in the training room, he just had to go change into suitable combat clothes.
His room was similar to hers and had everything he would need to live in. Going into his closet he pulled out a pair of black track pants and a grey under armour shirt. Quickly changing into his clothes, he remembered to let Byakko out of his tattoo form. The god seemed happy to be back home and went up to his bed for a nap. Harry told him to order something via the house elves and was out of the door.
The combat room was located in the basement, walking down the stairs he saw Miwa waiting for him near the entrance. She was in a similar attire as him, but her shirt was white, spotting him she gave him a quick and walked into the hall with him following behind. Harry caught up to her as they were walking past the many rooms.
"We're in room B12" she said, "I already reserved the room." She said as they approached the room, arriving at the door she took out the key and unlocked the door. As a security measure the rooms were enchanted to be locked and only specialized keys could grant the person access. The room was indeed spacious and the feeling of being in the room was similar to being back in the ROR.
It contained six dueling dummies, a variety of weapons. The walls were enchanted so that they would always repair themselves after destruction occurred.
The two each wore a smirk as they locked the door behind them. "Before we start, I created some new spells that may prove useful" he said.
"I have a new one as well" she responded.
Giving her a cheeky grin "ladies first" he motioned for her to go first. She giggled at his antics "you're so sweet" she said playfully punching him.
Taking out her wand she summoned the of the dummies and set them to level three. Harry went to go stand by the wall. The next moment duel began, like him she was highly skilled in Ninjitsu and Krav Maga and incorporated the movements into her fighting style making her a powerful and aggressive duelist.
Watching her movements carefully, he saw her either dodging or shielding against the spells. That was until she muttered something in Japanese and fired three pink spells at the dummies. The spells hit the dummies and they all glowed pink, Harry was momentarily confused as to what her attack was but saw that she fired a blasting curse at one of them. Upon impact the dummy was blown back but so were the other two.
That was something he was not expecting, getting up from the wall he walked to her "what was that" he asked.
"It was a new spell I invented" she began "it basically tagging spell. Whatever happens to one happens to the others. The spell is called fudōji ni." (tag, at the same time). The smile on her face indicated that she was proud of her creation.
"For the spell to work you have to tag them all immediately" she then explained the wand movement to him.
He saw that they were coming back and decided to try it himself. First, he practiced the wand movement, then he said the spell. After getting the wand movement down and memorizing the spell he tried it himself. When he fired the spell at them, he immediately sent a bludgeoning spell at one and they all flew back.
"That's a handy spell" he commented with a smile on his face. "What's the reversal spell?"
"All you have to do is shoot some cold water at yourself and the affects will end" she had a look of pride on her voice.
"Nice" he praised. "My turn" he said with an eager grin. She went to the wall he was leaning against.
This time he activated all six dummies and increased their intensity to level four. With that done he took a stance and soon began firing spells, dodging or shielding. After showboating a bit, he decided to stop playing around and fired six green ball of fire at each of them. They didn't make a dent but that was the point, when their wands were about to light up the green flames erupted from their chest stopping them. He followed up with by firing a wave a darts at them. The same ones he demonstrated back in Hogwarts, but not before trapping them in a bubble to let the smoke consume them.
Seeing that his work was done he heard some clapping, turning to his right he saw her heading his way. "Very impressive, never seen those spells before."
Harry went to go explain "the green fireballs are designed to bring pain to the opponent should they try to fire any spell. The incantation is intadole (inside, burn). I designed it not to kill the opponent but to make them unable to continue for much longer."
"As for the darts they can be used to either hit the opponent or anywhere near them. Once, they made contact they release a gas that makes the victim fall asleep for a few minutes. The spell is somculis" he concluded (sleep, dart).
Miwa just started laughing "you sound almost like a ninja" she commented. "Unassuming but powerful!"
"So glad your impressed."
"What are their reversal spell?" she asked. "For intadole its excanvare" (flare, relieve). "The other is experda!" (Awake prey).
"Alright now, that we had our little show in tell let's start practicing" she said.
Harry immediately gave a nod, and they began in earnest. First, they practiced their tactical movements for the two patterns. After that they worked on their coordinates incorporating different types of moves for the routines. Followed by a duel consisting of magic, hand to hand combat, and swordsmanship.
The entire process took until it was time for dinner, by then they were tired from the exertion and collapsed to their knees. Taking a few minutes to gather themselves they stood up.
"We're going to need to refine our tactics!" she said. "What we accomplished so far was good, but we need to improve."
Harry looked at her "agreed, we have until Monday and we need to use every moment we can." They left the room and headed back to their rooms to grab a shower and some fresh clothes. Miwa had to return the key to the reception desk. After 25 minutes they were on their way to the cafeteria where some of the other students were located. Unlike the great hall at Hogwarts there weren't long tables for each house, there were round tables design to hold up to six people.
Finding an open table near the window they sat down where the food appeared before them. Filling their plates, they talked about the tactics they might employ during the competition. It was agreed that they would practice again after dinner, in the dueling rooms in Miwa trunk once lights were out.
They continued to enjoy their meals, until Harry spotted the five idiots they saw earlier today. Nudging her elbow, she gave him a look and he indicated to the boys that were coming near them. Miwa just let out an annoyed breath, those idiots may have been in Class- A but they were near the bottom; and often lorded it around like they were gifts.
The taller boy was apparently the leader, at his full height he was about the same height as Harry. "Well, well, well what do we have here! The so called prodigy of Mahoutokoro the outsider" he mocked.
"Hard to believe they let you come back after your departure to Hogwarts" he followed up. Some of his friends were snickering.
Harry on the other hand didn't pay him any mind and continued eating his rice. Seeing that he wasn't going to respond the idiot spoke again.
"You really should have stayed at that miserable school. There you might have been worth something" he continued his taunt, but again Harry didn't say anything and talked to Miwa in Japanese.
The older boy did not appear to like being ignored "when I'm talking to you, you listen" he made a move to grab harry by his shirt and was about to speak again but was cut off when he felt something poke at his neck. Lowering his eyes, he saw that Potter had his wand train on him.
Harry face may have been expressionless but the fire in his eyes glowed bright, slowly leaning into the fools ear. He whispered "you listen to me you waste of space. Me and Miwa were enjoying our dinners before you and your bastard friends walked up. This can go two ways now; you can take your dog's away, or I can just blast you away out of the room."
"You wouldn't dare" he defiantly said. At that moment he felt the wand against his throat start to heat up.
At that moment, the look in Hadrian eyes went cold, when the boy looked in them. He saw that Potter really did want to hurt him. "Should I use the blood boiling or organ liquefying spell or should I burn you alive."
That got the boys attention as he backed up at what Harry said, he was about to retort but Harry sent a low powered banishing spell that knocked the boy to the ground. Everyone looked to see what was going on as the boys friends went to go help their leader to his feet.
"Anytime you assholes want to challenge me, then be ready to experience a world of pain." Harry said to them in a low menacing voice. The five were immediately on guard but knew that if they did anything then there will be consequences. They walked away but not before sending murderous glares at Harry and whispered as they left.
Harry looked at the other occupants in the cafeteria "shows over back to your meals" he said loud enough so they could hear and sat back down.
Everyone resumed their meals, while Harry and Miwa looked at each other. "You know they're going to be gunning for you, when the duel starts!" she pointed out.
"That's what I'm hoping for" he replied. She just raised an eyebrow "those idiots need to learn some respect and for what I have planned for them, they won't soon forget."
"Be careful, Hadrian don't underestimate them" she warned.
"Just leave it to me" he said. Miwa saw the determination in his eyes as she knew that he would indeed teach them a lesson. Those idiots have been looking down on the students here since, day one. While she may have faced three of them and won facing five would prove to be a challenge, even for Harry. If it weren't for the fact that she knew him so well, that she would be more concerned.
Deciding to let it go. She got up from her seat "ready to go?"
Harry pushed his plate away and rose from his seat "let's go" he affirmed. They made their way back to Miwa room to practice the routines.
When they were in the trunk, they reviewed their tactics. The whole process lasted until it was eleven at night and they called it quits. Seeing as they were both tired and drained Harry used a weather making charm creating some clouds above them. Sending a spell toward the clouds they started roaring with lightning in different direction. Two bolts of lightning struck and reenergized them restoring them to full power.
It was a spell that only worked on lightning elementals, as it was capable of restoring their magics and even helped amplify their spells. Something they discovered their first year at school, while in the library. They quickly discovered that being elementals allowed certain advantages.

Eventually it came time for them to begin the placement exams, the first week consisted of class exams in theory and practical. Harry and Miwa were placed in the fifth years much to some of the older years annoyance, but none of them voiced any objections. All of the students were feeling the pressure from doing the exams, the teachers over saw the exams with the help of the Japanese ministries W.E.A. The ones who initiated the exams were hard especially for the Class- A students.
Harry and Miwa were feeling mentally and magically drained from having to do the upper level exams, but they pulled through. They even felt confidant in the answers they put for the theory. In Harry's case he found the charms, transfiguration, ancient runes, arithmancy, and defense exams a breeze. Miwa found some of them to be breeze as well except for ancient runes, while she wasn't as skilled in the subject as Harry, she was able to answer them all correctly.
When it came time for the practical aspects, they had to demonstrate a chain of different spells to the examiners. Harry of course did all his spells silently. That certainly impressed them as it was rare to see such advance magic done by one so young. The ones that examined his charms and transfiguration practical's were especially pleased with his level of control and depth of knowledge.
Soon it came time for the break as the students were now relaxing at Okinawa island. The island was owned by the magical government and it served as a place to relax for the students. Basically, the entire island was like Hogsmeade village but larger with a variety of shops. It was also made to look in the modern era something that drew the students attention.
Since it was lunch time over their Harry, Miwa, and Emily went to the Dragon's Head. It was one of the places where students can go eat and relax. One of the waiters gave them a seat outside and took their orders. Miwa ordered Tonkatsu, Emily went for some Sushi, while Harry got some beef curry. The three chatted away trying to ignore the exams they had to take.
Harry paid the bill for all three of them when they finished. Him and Miwa wanted to go refresh and have a quick study session for their remaining exams. Emily on the other hand wanted to have some more fun while she could. It was at that moment that her friends came into view.
In Harry's opinion, they were a good group as he had them all researched. Luckily, his sister didn't know as she would have had a fit and accuse him of being too protective. Harry told her not to stay to late, with that she told him she would be back at school around 5:30. Emily and her group of friends went to the Magic Mixer to go sing a bit and enjoy the atmosphere. The mixer in Japan was one of the many branches that was across the magical world.
The two took the petrels back to school where they ended up in Harry's dorm to go revise for their exams and didn't come out till it was halfway through dinner. As much as they enjoyed the downtime all good things had to come to an end as they were soon back to doing exams.

Meanwhile, back in Hogwarts things were running smoothly to a certain degree. Due to the face that Quirrell was dead now the students didn't have a DADA professor anymore. So, Dumbledore ended taking over the class for a short time much to the gryffindors delight and the displeasures of the slytherins. While no one could deny that he was knowledgeable in the subject it was clear that he supported the gryffindors more than the slytherins. As he let them rack up points for answering questions.
It eventually came down to when the board found out, but before they could make a move Tracey sent a letter home to her mother. According, to Tracey her mother had a master's in the subject and was more then capable of teaching the course for the remainder of the year. However, that was twofold as not only could she keep an eye out for her daughter and her friends; she would also be able to help Severus out and give him an extra pair of hands.
Isabella Davis did not disappoint as she quickly proven her worth as a teacher. When she was in school, she was sorted into ravenclaw and while she may have been a half-blood she acted more like a pureblood after marrying Cameron. After a while most of the other Lord's and their family could dismiss her blood status and grudgingly accept as a pureblood.
It was clear that Tracey took more after her mother as she had her eyes, face, and body structure. The only difference was their different hair colors. Tracey got the color form her father. Pretty soon Friday came and the gryffindor and slytherin first years were now sitting in their defense class.
Professor Davis was going over the Verdimillious Charm, where she was going over how it can be used to identify objects that were hidden by dark magic. Everything was running smoothly until they reached the last 25 minutes of class when Lavender Brown raised her hand.
"Yes Miss. Brown!" she said in a neutral voice.
The bubbly girl was best friends with Parvati and was known for being a gossiper, that loved fashion. "Professor if I may ask where Harry Potter is at, he's been gone for more than two weeks?"
It was no secret that among the lions the Potter was the best student in the house much to Granger disapproval. The fact that he had been gone for two weeks without any say was staggering to the lions as it affected the quidditch team. Oliver Wood had to assign a temporary seeker: Cormac McLaggen. The boy may have been in his second year and had some seeker skills the three female chasers were not fond of him.
The boy was exceedingly arrogant always acting like he was better than everyone and started telling them what to do, rather than doing his own job. Wood had to reprimand him a few times just to get him to be quiet. They were barely able to win the last game much to his disapproval. Katie was very close to attacking him after he had annoyed her once to often. It was only thanks to her fellow chasers that she didn't even though it was clear that they wanted to bury the whelp themselves.
As soon as Brown asked the question the whole class started muttering about where he was.
"Settle down" she said in a quiet yet demanding tone. That immediately ceased the chatter and brought the attention back to her. "To answer your question Miss. Brown. Mr. Potter is currently in Japan at the moment."
The slytherin stayed quiet especially Tracey and her friends as they already knew that Harry would be away. Granger and Weasley questioned them earlier today as to where he was but they wouldn't answer. "Why would he be over their professor" Parvati asked.
"Honestly, Miss. Patil I do not know" she replied. "However, he will be returning in a few days."
Ron let out a snort. "Typical Potter is always getting special treatment!" he commented. "It's not bad enough that he gets onto the quidditch team, he takes another school's curriculum because he thinks Hogwarts is inferior."
That comment rang throughout the class. While some agreed that Potter may have received partial treatment, he never boasted about it. If anything, he just kept to himself. Daphne and her two friends were not happy with that comment as they found Weasley to much of a jealous idiot.
"You really are an idiot aren't you Weasley" Daphne said bringing everyone's attention to her. Not that she cared in the slightest "you just can't get it through your head that maybe it's the fact that he actually works hard. Something that you seem incapable of doing!"
"Shut it snake this does not concern you" he retorted hotly. "It's obvious that you, Zabini and Davis are only after his fame."
Daphne sent him a cold glare "unlike you Weasley I don't see him as a person just to bolster my reputation. He may have been sorted into gryffindor but that doesn't make him a jerk who has to hide behind the headmaster something that you like to do."
Blaise followed it up by adding in a few knuts "not only that he generalize us just for being in different houses. He treats everyone fairly and equally. No question that he can be cold and anti-social, but that's just him."
Hermione perked up "how do you even know him so well?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but me and him have known each other before ever attending Hogwarts" he answered.
Everyone except for those three were shocked. "Then why didn't you say anything about it" she said in a bossy tone.
"Because it was not your business, Granger" he said with irritation. "And unlike you I actually respect his privacy and don't threaten him by saying 'tell me now or I will go to Professor Dumbledore'.
Tracey picked up where he left off "seriously Granger can you not get it into your head that he doesn't want to be with you anymore than he has to be. Right now, he's in Japan where he's happy, frankly I wouldn't mind joining him. If I had the chance to get away from your constant nagging, I would take it!"
"You can't go five minutes without trying to annoy anyone and it's getting old" she continued.
Weasley was now red in the face along with Granger. They were about to say something, but Professor Davis put an end to it. "That will be enough" she said loud enough to quiet them down. "This is not relevant to the class and if you all don't get back to work then it you will find yourself gone from the class with detention."
That seemed to do it as no one spoke for the remainder of class. All of the students just sat quietly doing their work, until the bell rang.
Both houses just went back to their common rooms. Or in Ron and Hermione case they went to see their head of house. They wanted to know more about Potter. Why was he getting so much special treatment?
Arriving at McGonagall's office Hermione knocked on the door. "Come in" the stern professor voice was heard, opening the door they saw her sitting behind her desk grading papers. "Miss. Granger! Mr. Weasley what brings you to my office?"
Hermione was the one to reply, "professor we were wondering if we could ask you a few questions?"
"About" she raised an eyebrow. "It's about Harry Potter ma'am" Hermione replied.
Minerva let out a deep sigh and motioned for them to sit down in the chairs. They sat down and watched as she waved her wand closing the door. The two just sat there for a few minutes staring at her.
"Miss. Granger I am not a mind reader!" Minerva started. "As you can see, I have work to do, can you ask your questions about Mr. Potter?" She had a feeling that she would need a headache potion from Pomfrey later.
Ron was the one to speak "professor we wanted to know why it is that Potter is getting so much special treatment. He refuses to take the curriculum here and acts like he's better than everyone? Not only that he gets put on the quidditch team just for saving Longbottom's life. It's not fair! Not only that he's been gone for two weeks, something about being in Japan."
Minerva looked at Granger who was nodding in agreement. She flared her nostril before responding "listen to me you two. Mr. Potter is in Japan because he is taking his placement exams, as such it requires him to leave school for a time so he can do them. As for him being put on the quidditch team he initially didn't wan to and refused the spot."
That shocked the two, none more so than Weasley who was about to say something, but she continued over him. "I along with Professors Dumbledore and Snape were present when he reused to join. He pointed out that just because he saved Mr. Longbottom, he wouldn't accept any handouts or rewards like that. He told me that if he were to tryout then he would only do it on the basis of getting a fair trial like everyone else."
"But that makes no sense professor" Granger said. "The letters we got said that first years were not allowed to own their own brooms, hence no quidditch. Plus, there hasn't been a first year on the team in years."
"Miss Granger, the letters you got may have said that first years can not own a broom's she pointed out. "But that didn't not mean the students couldn't try out for the team" she explained.
"Is there anything else? she questioned.
"Why is it that he seems to have a vendetta against Professor Dumbledore?" Hermione questioned. "In the books I've read they said that he was his apprentice and a champion of the light."
Minerva massaged her temples. "Miss. Grange it is not my place to say, so I will give you an overview. Professor Dumbledore and Mr. Potter do not get along for personal reasons. As it involves him being placed with his muggle relatives something that I was never comfortable with."
Weasley was confused "why would him being placed with those muggles affect his relationship with the Dumbledore?"
Minerva looked at him "it is not my place to say. The only thing I will say is that they hurt that boy more times than I can count" the disappointment and sadness in her voice could be heard.
"Mr. Potter also hates and blames me for what happened just as much he blames and loathes Professor Dumbledore and has no wish to be here anymore than he has to" she followed up.
"But professor that makes no" she was cut off by her head of house. "That will be enough from the both of you" she put her foot down.
"Whether or not you like it or not, This matter does not concern either of you" she continued. "Now I suggest you leave Mr. Potter alone when he comes back, now head back to your common rooms." She dismissed them.
Ron wanted to ask more but Hermione dragged him out of the room.

Back in Japan it was now the final week of exams and that was reserved for dueling. Due to the nature of the school, it meant combat of any kind and the students were going to have to prove themselves. To avoid any muggles from noticing, the duels were conducted on the Izu Island as to avoid any unwanted attentions. Everyone was suited in black hydra hide combat uniforms.
The rules were thus no killing and the use of the unforgivables was forbidden by all accounts. Any breach of rules will result in suspension for two months and a Dreadful for a grade. The students were allowed to bring their wands, a potions kit, and anything from Katanas to shuriken's, Sai's, bo staffs, and nunchakus. All of the students were unranked at the moment as it was a free for all. While they could team up with a minimum of five people, once the competition got down to eight remaining students then it would be everyone for themselves.
Harry, Miwa and the fifth years were done to begin on Wednesday morning and had until the next morning to last. When they all arrived only the first years were allowed to proceed forward as they would start things off. There was to be no help from the outside whatsoever. Each student was given thirty minutes to go think of their strategies until they saw red sparks launched into the air.
Luckily, thanks to the school buying crystals the ones who were not dueling could watch the duels from the beaches. The viewing screens gave good visual and audio views and Harry was particularly interest in his sister dueling prowess. He had to admit her use combat spells was impressive for her age, although she couldn't perform the shielding spell, yet she made up for it by dodging her opponents. Not only did she learn muggle combat like him, which helped her use her body to advantage she was also a skilled gymnast.
When it was finally night fall there were only 5 people left in Shizuku group and harry could tell she was drained of her energy. Thank god she listened to him and brought a potions kit with her. Emily may have made it this far in her exam, but she wasn't out of the woods yet as she was going to have to deal with the others and they were going to be a challenge. Grabbing a vial of pepper up potion she downed it so that it could restore her strength. At the moment she was currently in the center of the island hiding behind a tree and trying to relax for a few minutes.
Taking a few minutes to regain herself she suddenly sensed that others were near her. While she wasn't as adept as sensing magic like Harry, she could still pick up a person magic if they were close enough. She casted the notice me not charm on herself and went to where the action was. A few feet away she saw one of her friends was dueling a member from Class- B. While she wanted her friend to win, the boy she was dueling was quite skilled. The duel lasted for a bit and the two were tired from the exertion, they both fired a stunner that hit them both knocking both out.
Emily left the area and was soon approached by her other friend. The girl was named Sora Li, she was the same height as her, but the girl had snow white hair and gold eyes. Like Emily she was also an elemental, that could control air. The two girls were soon met by the last person named Mizuki Shiba, the girl was ranked first in her year and was another friend of Emily's. Her hair was black and reached down to her shoulder and had black eyes.
Seeing as they were the only ones left, the logical thing to do would be to have a three sided duel. The three girls bowed at the same time and took their stances. Neither of them fired a spell as they were waiting to see if their opponents would make a move. Emily remembered Harry's words before coming to the island 'do not be rash, just be patient and observe your opponents'. That was his final piece of advice before the duel started.
Sora was the one to begin as she fired a reducto at Emily who dodged it and sent her own reducto curse back and fired a confringo at Mizuki. The duel began in earnest as the girls tried to gain an advantage over each other, the girls were trading spells left and right either attacking or dodging.
Emily was careful to avoid the spells sent her way aside from a few cutting curses that got her. She waited and observed. As Sora and Mizuki were dueling Emily muttered Haiyoku (Hydro blast) shot a spinning torrent of high volume water at an unexpected Mizuki who didn't see the water coming. And upon impact the girl was hit with the water and knocked back a few yards. Emily quickly put her in a body bind taking her out of play.
Seeing that her work was done, she turned to Sora, who looked back at her.
"私たちが中断した場所をピックアップする準備ができました" (ready to pick up where we left off) Sora asked. Emily replied "準備ができたら" (Ready when you are).
The two may have been good friends but they also competed with each other. The many times they dueled came to either Sora or Emily victory or just a draw. Both girls circled each other like a pair of tigers looking for the precise moment to strike. Emily began by saying "aqua eructo" send a blast of water at her opponent. Sora dodged and said "stupefy". Emily sidestepped avoiding the curse. The two continued trading spells but as the duel continued, they started using their elemental abilities.
Emily water attacks against Sora air attacks. Sora sent balls of air, while Emily sent waves of water at her friends. The two were growing tired from saying the spells, the thing was that elementals had to have a lot of control and power when trying to control them.
Emily was quickly growing tired and came up with an idea, she watched her friend send a mid-sized ball of air at her and rolled out of the way while sending a jet of boiling water at her. As thought her friend dodged it and she immediately sent a burst of blinding light into the air. Sora covered her eyes attempting to shield them from the brightness. This was what Emily was waiting for and said "kurage" (dark, steam). The wide steam enveloped the area around them as soon as the light ended Sora couldn't see a thing.
Then she heard someone snap their fingers and was sent back flying as the steam exploded. She didn't have time to react as her friend caught her with a stunning spell knocking her out.
Emily crumpled to the ground exhausted after the duel, the next moment they heard a loud gong. Signaling that the duel was over, that was something she was happy about as she was wiped out. A few minutes later a pair of hands wrapped around her in a hug, not needing to know who it was she muttered "I won" in a tired voice.
"You should be proud Shizuku!" Harry said. "You truly did well" he said as he helped her up. Miwa went to go help her friends. As she was sure that they were wiped out. With Harry's help they revived the girls and escorted them back to the other students.
A/N: as promised I had harry sent back to Japan to take his placement exams. The attack patterns that he and Miwa came up with, I will let you all think about those. What do you think of the spells I created? Also, the way that lightning can be used to reenergize their powers. Don't worry I intend on adding more abilities that are exclusive only to elementals.
As for the DADA teacher at Hogwarts I wanted to give Tracey mother a chance. While I would have initially put Severus as the teacher, I had a change of heart, oh and don't worry I plan on taking Weasley and Dumbledore down a few more pegs. I was considering taking them out individually, but I figured why not do it simultaneously.
Next Chapter: Harry will deal with those stuck up jerks from fifth year and warning they will be in pain.
