Chapter 2

As the nine of them sat on the symbol, holding hands, Cordelia looked at Angel and Buffy. After her talk with Xander, she saw the two of them talking and something hit her. She thought about the question she had asked him just hours earlier ("Were we in love?") and found the answer that she needed. The way he looked at Buffy, and she looked at him, she knew that even if Angel thought he loved Cordy, he still was in love with the Vampire Slayer. Who knew losing your memory could help you notice stuff?

"Okay gang," Lorne said. "Eyes on the bottle."

"We come in sublimation and hope. Bring her back." The bottle started to spin and a light headed into each of them. The bottle fell on its side and kept on spinning. Cordelia suddenly felt, well, kind of drunk. Based on the way everyone else was acting, she knew she wasn't the only one.

"What's going on?" she asked no one in particular.

"I feel a little..." Lorne said as he crawled behind the desk.

Fred started talking to a fern, "This is important. It's so beautiful...". She stopped talking and puked into the pot.

Angel went outside and Buffy examined the floor, saying, "This has to be... really expensive per square."

"That's not true..." Xander said to Willow, lazily swatting her.

Willow giggled. "Yes, it is, Xan... Xan..." She giggled again.

Gunn did some karate move and Wesley was chuckling to himself. "We'll just wait to see if there are any side effects."

"What's happening?" Cordelia asked. "We can't just…" She couldn't let this happen. The fail safe! "We have to…" She wouldn't, no, she couldn't let that, that thing control her friends... the world. "No!" One thing was certain, Cordelia Chase had to stop the spell. She stepped on the bottle, smashing it. All of the sudden, everyone snapped out of it.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Willow shook her head. "C...Cordelia?"

"Willow? Xander?" Cordelia said with disgust. "What's 2/3rds of the loser squad doing here? 'Cause if this is some sophomore hazing prank…"

"Um, excuse me," Buffy said standing up. "Who the heck are you?"

"Cordelia Chase. Don't suppose you want to say who you are?"

Buffy was interrupted when Angel walked in.

"Hello salty goodness," Cordelia mumbled.

"Great. More people. You know what's going on here?" she asked Angel.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Buffy Summers." She pointed at Cordelia. "That's Cordelia or something." Cordy glared at her. Buffy looked at the other people. "Anyone else want to say their name?"

Xander looked at the blonde. "Xander Harris. This gal here is my friend Willow." At the mention of her name, Willow blushed.

Fred spoke next. "I'm Fred. Winifred Burkle."

"I'm Wesley," Wesley said. "Wesley Wyndom-Pryce." Cordelia snorted.

Wesley looked at Gunn. "Who would you be?"

"I'm the guy who's going to be kicking a whole mess of ass if somebody don't tell me what's going on," he replied.

"Something shorter, buster," Cordelia said.

"Gunn."

"Where!'' Wesley shouted., looking around in alarm.

"Me," Gunn finished. "That's my name. The short version"

Cordelia went up to Angel. "Well, now that we know the socially hadi-capables, losers, and possibly okays, let's learn about you?"

"Mad. You're all mad. These clothes. Your speech. This place. What land is this?"

"What land is it supposed to be?" Gunn said.

"Yes," Wesley said. "Where do you hail from, friend?"

"I'm not your friend, you English pig," Angel said. "We never wanted you in Ireland. We don't want you now."

"You Irish?" Gunn questioned.

"You don't sound Irish," Cordelia stated.

"For most certain, I sound exactly..." he put his hands up to his throat. "Something is wrong with my voice!"

"Well," Buffy said. "What's your name?" She felt a sort of… connection... with the confused man on the stairs.

"Liam," he said, before mumbling it again, trying to make it sound right.

"Great!" Cordelia said sarcastically. "We all have names. Now what is going on here?"

"I think we're all wondering that, Cordelia," Xander snarked.

"And reasons to leave are just piling up. Bye!"

"Wait, Ms. Chase!" Wesley said. "I wouldn't be so quick to leave. Clearly we're part of some nefarious scheme. I'd bet the doors are bolted shut. And who knows what peril lies outside?"

"I bet it's a demon," Buffy said.

Wesley and Gunn looked at her. "You know about demons?"

"Vampire Slayer," she said.

"You're the slayer?" Wesley asked.

A realization hit Buffy. "You're one of those Watcher guys, aren't you?"

Wesley nodded with a wide grin on his face at the fact a slayer had known what he was. "I happen to be Head Boy at the Watcher's academy."

"Wonder why they call you that?" Cordelia mumbled. Gunn snickered.

Wesley looked at Gunn. "How do you know about demons?"

"I've been fighting vamps since I was twelve. Demons aren't that far away of a subject."

"Um, ex... excuse me," Willow stuttered. "Why are we talking about demons and vampires?"

Wesley lit up. "The world is far older…"

Gunn interrupted him. "Vampires and demons are real"

"I was saying that!"

"The speech takes too long," Buffy said.

"Great," Cordelia said to no one in particular. "I'm stuck in a place I don't recognize, with people I don't know and the loser club, minus the one that actually likes me.

Xander looked around. "Where is Jesse anyway?"

"Ya know, Miss I'm-Above-Everybody-Else made a good point. Where are we?"

Liam spoke up for the first time since he introduced himself. "I bet we're in hell. My father always said I was a sinner, that I'd come to a bad end. I bet we're in hell."

"I don't remember dying," Willow said, worried.

Fred spoke up, "Maybe it's the government."

"My vote's still on demon," Buffy said.

Suddenly, Cordelia shrieked. "My hair! Someone cut my hair!"

"Mine, too," Willow said.

"I seemed to have grown some stubble," Wesley said. "It must have taken at least a month to get like this."

"Somebody ruined my hair!" Cordelia shrieked.

Everyone except Fred ignored her. "No, it looks good."

"Really?"

"Okay," Buffy said. "Who's hair is different. Longer, shorter, different color…"

Everyone except Gunn raised their hand. So much for that connection.

Cordelia suddenly noticed something, distracting her from her hairdo. "Willow! Your hair is so… different."

Xander turned to his best friend. "Wow. She's right."

She blushed and looked more closely at her hair. It was way lighter than she last remembered and much shorter. And Xander had said 'wow'. Maybe he would finally notice her as more than a friend...

Suddenly, Fred screamed. Everyone turned to her. "A… It's… ah…"

Buffy, being the closest, went over. It was a green demon with red horns, sleeping behind the desk.

DUN DUN DUUUNNNN! Okay, maybe not that much... Anyways, that was Chapter 2 of Spin with Nine. This chapter have one of my (possibly the) favorite scenes I've written- the moment during the spell when Cordy's about to smash the bottle. I feel like it fits into canon, too, which I like. It shows that's she's grown and become a more selfless person. Then... here come Teen Mean Queen (heh, I rhymed). Honestly, non-developed versions of these characters are harder for me to write than the more developed ones- at least so far. Once again, please review if you like it, or something's wrong with the characters, plot, continuity, etc. Thanks for reading!
