Commander Shaw stood, stony faced as she heard the report from Nate. A lot had happened on the base within only a few hours. People were still a little disorientated and trying to establish what had managed to happen during the time they were all affected by Scrozzle's evil device. People did remember the bizarre world that Blaze, Roxy and Meghan had created for everyone, and the deception they had managed to pull, but they were only just now aware and able to try and begin to figure out what they had done while Grid Battleforce was not only not opposing them, but actively helping them.

"And you're sure about her condition?" Commander Shaw asked. Nate sighed and nodded.

"I've stabilised as much as I can, but whatever that worm program they put into the stasis pod was, it's completely overloaded the life support system." He told her. "I'd estimate that Roxy has less than 24 hours before we won't be able to revive her."

"We checked the security footage, it looks like they were here for some of our equipment." Devon continued with the report. He looked a little awkwardly to Joanne, who started to pull up the footage. He still hadn't spoken to her since he'd freaked out in her room upon meeting Bruno. It wasn't exactly anyone's fault that he was phobic of dogs now, and since he'd never actually seen Bruno before, he'd never actually known she owned a dog. He knew she owned a pet, but he'd assumed like most of the people he'd met who lived alone and worked she would probably have owned something like a cat or some other low-maintenance pet that could more or less look after itself while she was working. She played the footage.

"Unfortunately, it looks like they got what they were looking for." Zoey sighed dejectedly. "And worse than that, we helped them."

"We had no reason to think we shouldn't." Nate reminded her. "As far as we were aware, Blaze and Roxy were Rangers. We were meant to do what they asked."

"So, what did they take?" She asked.

"Mega Transporters." Nate informed her. Commander Shaw just fell silent hearing that.

"Mega Transporters?" Devon asked. "Am I missing something?"

"Think, the transporters that deliver your weapons into battle only…a lot bigger." Nate explained. "I was toying with the idea of using them to transport Zords. I managed to get them to make short-range jumps, like with the Silver and Gold Zords, but I was hoping if they worked as I'd hoped, we'd effectively be able to deploy our Zords anywhere they're required on the planet at a moment's notice."

"So, Evox had them now." Devon concluded. "Which means he's planning on transporting something, something big."

"Steel's repairs are coming along, he should be ready to get back into action soon." Nate stated.

"Alright, then we need to…"

Commander Shaw was cut off as Ravi slammed a fist into the wall, startling everyone. The team already knew what was on his mind. Hell, pretty much everyone could see it, but to see Ravi snapping like this was something people generally just didn't see.

"What does any of this matter?" Ravi asked. "Didn't you hear what Nate said? Roxy is going to die!"

"Son, I know you're upset…"

"UPSET?" He yelled. "Upset doesn't even begin to describe it! They just started the clock on Roxy's life! We need to find her Avatar and destroy it NOW!"

"Ravi, try to calm down." Commander Shaw told him. "We're all worried about Roxy, and if we can save her, we're certainly going to do everything we can to make that happen, but right now we don't even know what Evox is planning. We need to search the city, find out what he's planning to do with those Mega Transporters…"

"I couldn't care less what he's planning!" Ravi yelled. "There are four other Rangers, if I have to go looking by myself, then I will."

"Ravi, we all want to help Roxy." Zoey assured him.

"Well maybe if you'd actually do something instead of standing around talking about…"

"Ravi, that is so unfair…"

"You want to talk about unfair?" Ravi yelled, getting into her face.

"RAVI!" Commander Shaw yelled, before looking around. "Give us the room."

"Commander?" Devon asked tentatively.

"Give us the God damned room, NOW!" She yelled. "That is an order!"

With that, slowly but surely, the Rangers and Joanne all left, all apart from Ravi. She just stood, waiting until the door was closed, before looking to her son.

"Mom, I don't have time…"

"You think I want to make decisions like this?" She asked him. "Believe me, no one in a position of command that has any business being there wants to make decisions that could cost people their lives but there are over two million people in this city and I am responsible for every single one of them."

"So Roxy's on her own?" Ravi asked. "Great, thanks for clearing that up."

"Ravi!" She sighed as he was about to storm out. As he turned around, expecting her to remind him of the priority of life, of Roxy's duty to others, or of his duty to follow Grid Battleforce protocol, he instead saw her looking full of sorrow. "I know…I know what she means to you."

"We've already been over this." He said bitterly.

"No, I only…I only told you part of it." She admitted. She gulped and took a deep breath. "I saw how happy she made you, and it was simply the most wonderful thing to see. But I also saw how the others were treating you on the Ranger program. How all the accusations and rumours affected you."

"I don't understand." Ravi said as she tried to summon up the strength to speak.

"I…I was the one that instituted rule 34C." She told him.

"You put that rule in place?" Ravi asked. "But…but that was the one…you said you knew about Roxy…"

"And that's exactly why I did it." She admitted. "I saw how much it took out of you, proving yourself, striving day in, day out to prove to people who were never going to believe you earned your place that you deserved it. I saw how miserable it made you, but I couldn't justify cutting you from the program, and I knew you'd never quit because of some criticism."

She reached to her hand, on which she still wore her wedding ring, even now years after Ravi's father had passed.

"But love, true love, the kind of love that could last a lifetime…no one would have blamed you for choosing that over the Ranger program." She explained. "I hoped that making you choose, forcing you to make that decision would give you a way out. I underestimated how much your duty meant to you. I'm…I'm sorry."

"You're sorry?" He asked, in a low voice, before starting to round on her. "You knew? You…YOU DID THIS?"

"Son, I'm sorry, I could never have…"

"I've given you, given Grid Battleforce, given this city EVERYTHING!" He yelled at her.

"I never wanted any of this to happen." She stated. "But I hoped that if I told you, if I explained, then maybe…maybe you'd realise that I love Roxy, and I'd never want anything to happen to her…"

"You know what?" Ravi interrupted her. "I'm going to join my team."

"Ravi?" She asked.

"I made a commitment, I'm going to help the Rangers and I'm going to help destroy Roxy's Avatar and I'm going to destroy Evox, because he's the one that's threatening all of us." Ravi told her. "But after that…we're done."

"Ravi…"

"I'm out." He stated coldly. "The Ranger Program, Grid Battleforce, and most of all, us. We're done."

With that, he turned and left the room abruptly, leaving Commander Shaw alone with her regrets. She'd never wanted to hurt her son, and she'd always worried what would happen if he ever learned the truth about her actions in instituting the rule that took the woman he loved from him. But she had lived a life of duty for most of her adult life. She knew that sometimes sacrifices were needed in order to ensure that people did what was needed for the good of others. She had no doubt that Ravi would help the Rangers, but this time, the sacrifice was hers.

She sat down on her chair as tears began to well up in her eyes.

Later in the day, the Rangers and Grid Battleforce had been sent out into the city to look for any signs of Evox and the Mega Transporters. They didn't really know what he wanted them for, but considering the fact they were designed originally to teleport anything up to the size of a Zord, they really didn't want to take any chances.

Ben and Betty were heading through an area, which was surprisingly full of people. They had to steer around most of it due to how densely packed it was.

"Wow, a lot of people are here." Ben commented. "What's going on?"

"It's one of Mayor Daniels' re-election rallies." Betty reminded him. Ben just nodded.

"Right, I should have remembered. Steel gave me his manifesto." Ben stated. Betty just looked at him.

"He gave you one too?" She asked. "I thought he was joking about running for mayor."

"Betty?" He asked in a slightly wavering voice. She saw the expression on his face changing somewhat, looking slightly panicked. She saw him pointing behind her. Betty turned slowly, seeing that he was pointing towards a van parked a little way from them. It all looked rather normal, until she saw that there was a Tronic at the wheel.

"Oh…" She said, looking excited. They had stumbled on a major lead. It was the first sighting of Evox's forces since everyone had been freed from Scrozzle's illusion.

"We should call this in." Ben told her. Betty though seemed to have different ideas. She was already creeping up towards the van. "Betty!"

He looked around cautiously, before sneaking up behind her. She got to the van, before gesturing to Ben to stand ready, pulling out her zap-o-matic. Ben gulped as he did likewise, knowing his sister was about to do something bold that would likely either be commendably brave or ridiculously foolhardy, likely somewhere between the two.

She pulled open the door, before yanking the Tronic out, hitting it with the zap-o-matic. The side door opened, at which another couple of Tronics came out, but Ben and Betty reacted quickly, taking them down in short order. Ben breathed a sigh of relief as the whole thing ended.

"That was…"

"That went a lot better than expected." Betty admitted, looking in the back of the van. "Um…Ben, how many Mega Transporters are we looking for?"

"They stole three." Ben reminded her.

"Well, I count three here." Betty said to him cheerfully. "Ben, we just foiled Evox's plan!"

"Wait…we did?" He asked. "We…we did! WE DID!"

"I'll call it in!" Betty rushed out, getting on her communicator. "Guys, this is Betty over in sector Charlie 3-0, we have the Mega Transporters."

"Wait, what?" Devon asked. "You found them?"

"Yup!" She answered. "Evox was even kind enough to leave us a van to deliver them back to headquarters in!"

"That…that sounds a little easy." Zoey responded. "Maybe you should wait until we can check it out."

"Sure thing." Betty replied. "But just remember who found them!"

As she cut off the connection, she had a rather smug look on her face.

"So, what do you think Ben?" She asked. "I'd say we're getting a commendation for this, maybe a medal!"

"Oh, a raise would be good." Ben said to her.

"Ooh, or what about a promotion?" Betty asked him. "How does Sergeant Burke sound to you?"

"Or Lieutenant Burke?" Ben suggested. "I think I like the sound of that!"

Just then, Ben felt a hand on his right shoulder, while Betty felt a hand on her left as someone stood behind them, leaning in between them. They both froze still.

"I wouldn't be too worried about your career path right now." Roxy whispered.

Elsewhere, as the Rangers were rushing towards Ben and Betty's location, their communicators sounded. They all halted and Devon answered.

"What is it Commander?" Devon asked.

"We have reports of an attack in the Colter Plaza." She informed them. Devon looked to the others.

"Dad was having his campaign rally there." He responded in a panic. "There'll be thousands of people there!"

"But what about Ben and Betty?" Zoey asked. "We need to get those Mega Transporters back."

"Ravi, you go." Devon told him.

"What?" He asked. "Devon, there's…"

"Look, we need to get those Mega Transporters back, we've lucked out getting them this easily, we don't want to risk Evox getting them back!" Devon told him.

"But Roxy might be there…"

"Ravi, do you really want to make me order you?" Devon asked him. "If Roxy's there, we'll handle it, I promise you!"

Ravi didn't like the idea at all, but he did trust Devon and the others. He just nodded, before heading off towards the co-ordinates Ben and Betty had given him. Devon and the others all made their way in the other direction, heading towards the attack.

Over at the plaza, Blaze was leading some Tronics as they sent people running in a blind panic. Mayor Daniels was doing his best to direct people as they tried to flee, taking his promise to the people of his city very seriously. He'd always believed in his oath to his city. Blaze saw him ushering people away sand started to head towards him.

"You know, they usually say politicians don't do anything." Blaze commented, summoning his sword. "It's a little nice to see one putting their own skin on the line for once."

"These people are innocent, they've done nothing to you." Mayor Daniels rushed out. Blaze just laughed.

"I seem to have missed the part where I'm meant to care." He replied.

As he raised his sword and rushed towards Mayor Daniels, he was knocked back, slightly by an unexpected attack. As he looked back, he saw Devon standing between him and the mayor.

"Really? You want to do this again?" Blaze asked him. "I've lost count of the number of times I've beaten you."

"Really? Because last time I checked, you're the one that keeps running away." Devon called back as he lunged for him, swinging his sword. Blaze parried him as the other Rangers started clearing out the Tronics, letting people escape from the area.

"Only because I didn't have any reason to finish it." Blaze assured him. "It was fun watching you flail away, thinking you could beat me, but now…now it's just getting annoying."

"Then let's finish it!" Devon yelled as they threw themselves at each other.

Elsewhere, Ravi was just getting to the location of the van, when he saw Ben and Betty unconscious, and the van sitting with the Mega Transporters on display. Roxy was standing over the twins, with an evil smirk on her face.

"Roxy?" He asked, looking to the scene before him. "Did…did you…?"

"Oh, don't worry, they're fine." She assured him. "Well, they'll probably be pretty sore, but they're definitely going to be better off than I am…well…the other me will be in a few hours."

Ravi just glared at her, enraged as she said this. She just put a hand over her mouth.

"Oh, did I just strike a nerve?" She asked. "I mean, they do say live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse. I guess I'm going to do two out of the three. Though getting to be like this forever, dying might not be so bad."

Ravi let out a huge yell as he morphed, rushing straight for her. Roxy dodged out the way as he collided with a wall, completely caving it in. She just looked down on him from the top of a building and laughed.

"Aw, Ravi, you're still getting this all wrong. We both want the same thing. We both want to be together again." She told him. "But fist, you've got to catch me!"

With that, she darted away again. Ravi looked to the van, and the unconscious bodies of Ben and Betty, before making his decision. Jumping up as high as he could, burying his hands into the wall, he scrambled up it, beginning to give chase.
