Chapter 4: Pressing Problems
And we're back! Yay! I don't know how many more chapters will be out today, probably at least one more.
Anyways, this is a shorter chapter, just some talking and laying seeds for the future.
Enjoy!
Feel free to review, but don't just rip into me. I'm doing this for fun, not excessive criticism.
"Hey, Hiryu!"
Hiryu, who was on her way to school for the day, heard someone calling her name behind her. Turning back, she saw Kirishima rushing to catch up to her.
"Don't you usually ride a limo or something?" He asked.
"I… I wanted to walk today…" Hiryu admits, a little embarrassed.
"Ah, alright! Well, I'll walk with you!" Kirishima grinned, rounding the corner with Hiryu.
Turning the corner, they found the front gate of the school swarmed with reporters blocking the path. They seemed to be forcefully trying to interview students.
"Huh, reporters? What are they doing here?" Kirishima asked.
"I-I think word has gotten out about All Might…" Hiryu told him.
"Looks like it'll be tough getting through…" Kirishima scratched his chin.
"I-I could carry you over." Hiryu offered, his wings spreading out, "I-I-If you wanted, of course!"
"Sounds good to me!" Kirishima nodded.
Hiryu took off and flipped over in the air, grabbing Kirishima under the armpits and lifting him up and over the wall, onto U.A. grounds.
"So cool! Your Quirk's super useful!" Kirishima told her.
"I-It's not that great…" Hiryu blushed a little, "Let's just get to class."
Ten minutes after class usually started, Aizawa and the other students arrived, Aizawa informed them they were excused for their tardiness and spoke briefly about the combat training, providing advice to a few students.
"Now let's get on with homeroom business," Aizawa said, "Sorry about the late notice but today I'll have you…"
"Take another special test!?" Everyone wondered, worried.
"…decide on a class representative." Aizawa finished.
Everyone was surprised that it was something so normal, though they were glad it was just a normal school activity.
"I want to be class rep! pick me!" Kirishima suddenly shouted out.
"Yeah you're gonna need me." Jiro raised her hand.
"It's a job made for me-" Aoyoma started.
"I'll be the leader!" Ashido cut him off.
"I can do it!" Moxie leapt to his feet.
"Let me do it! Me!" Bakugo joined in.
"Please, everyone!" Iida called, quieting the class and drawing their attention, "This is a job with the serious responsibility of leading others! It is not a job for just anyone who wants to do it!" he said, "It is a calling that requires the trust of those around you! If we want to use democracy to decide on a true leader, then we should hold an election to choose one!"
"You want the position as well!" Most of the class accused, indeed, Iida had his hand held the highest.
"We haven't known each other for that long, so how can we have trust or anything?" asked Tsuyu.
"If that's the case, and everyone votes for themselves…" Kirishima trailed off.
"That's precisely why whoever gets the most votes would be best for the position, don't you agree Aizawa-sensei?" Iida asked.
"I don't care what you do, just get it done before I finish my nap." Aizawa said grumpily, zipping up his sleeping bag and lying on the floor.
"Thank you, sir!" Iida responded, bowing.
Some Time Later
Midoriya had gotten the most votes, receiving four, and Yaoyorozu had gotten the second most, receiving three. Moxie received just one vote, his own, and Hiryu received zero, having voted for someone else.
Midoriya seemed shocked that he had gotten the position, and was sputtering about it, when the bell cut him off.
"Alright, the class rep is Midoriya and the assistant deputy is Yaoyorozu." Aizawa announced, "Now head to lunch."
Cafeteria
"So Midoriya's the class rep, huh?" Kirishima commented.
"Yeah, he seems smart. Probably a good choice." Moxie shrugged, working his way through a sixth tray of food already.
"Moxie, why do you eat so much? Does it have to do with your Quirk?" Ashido asked.
"Hm? Nah, I'm just a big eater." He shrugged.
"Dude, what happened to your nose? It's all crooked." Kirishima pointed out.
"Huh? Oh, it was broken during the entrance exam." Moxie shrugged.
Hiryu winced a little, hearing that. She wasn't sure whether it was cause of the zero-pointer or her. Either way, she resolved to apologize next time she had the chance.
"I thought Midoriya was the only one who broke something during the entrance exam." Kirishima laughed.
"Nope!" Moxie grinned.
Suddenly, a piercing alarm reached everyone's ears, as a warning came over the loudspeaker.
"There has been a Level Three security breach. All students please evacuate outdoors promptly. I repeat…"
"Woah, hang on, a security breach? Is it Villains?" Kirishima stood up swiftly.
"Doesn't matter, let's get out of here!" Moxie rushed towards the exit with the others in tow.
The exit was swiftly jammed by all the students rushing to get out. Hiryu hesitated and decided against entering, but Moxie didn't hesitate before rushing in, followed by the other students.
Moxie and the others were separated at some point, and he was pushed into another student, a girl with ginger hair, both of them getting slammed into the wall.
"Sorry!" Moxie grit his teeth, pushing back against the students, barely managing to give the two a bit of breathing room, "Can't do much, all my strength's in my legs!"
"It's fine! Long as we have a bit of room to breathe!" The girl told him, glancing out the window, "What the- it's just the press!"
"What do you mean?" Moxie asked.
"I mean, it's just the press!" The girl repeats, "They're the ones who set off the alarm!"
"Well then, guess that's one less thing to worry about!" Moxie laughed.
Without warning, Iida went flying over everyone's heads, slamming into the wall just above the door frame, holding on tight to a pipe above the door.
"Everyone!" He shouted, "There is no need to panic, please remain calm! The intruders are just news reporters!"
As he shouted, the shoving and yelling gradually died down, until eventually, everything was calm. Moxie and the girl were given a bit more space to stand.
"Guess everything's alright now." Moxie grinned, "I'm Moxie, what's your name?"
"I'm Kendo, from Class B." The girl introduced herself, "You're Class A, right?"
"Yep!" Moxie smiled proudly, "Maybe we'll see each other in training sometime."
"Maybe. Anyways, I should probably go find my classmates, I'll see you!" Kendo waved, rushing off to find her classmates.
"Yeah, seeyah!" Moxie gave her a thumbsup as she left.
Class A regrouped and left, returning to class. Midoriya decided to step down from his position as class representative in favor of Iida, a decision no one objected to.
And there it is! Yep, that's the whole thing. Hope it was at least a little enjoyable.
I introduced Kendo this chapter, so that's fun. Her and Kirishima are probably tied for my own favorite characters.
Anyways, thanks for reading! Enigma, out.
