Chapter 7: Talk and Training
Hey howdy hey hello, welcome to the show! Enigma's back, with a bit of a shorter chapter.
This one's just a nice little chapter to relax with before the Sports Festival hits. That'll be sometime today or tomorrow.
I just got a new bed, much bigger and better on my back, so hopefully I'll have more energy for this stuff.
Enjoy!
Feel free to review, but don't just rip into me. I'm doing this for fun, not excessive criticism.
After the incident at the USJ, U.A. decided to give the Hero Course as a whole the day off, to recover from the incident and to give them time to alter the schedule from the lesson plans the Villains might have.
Midnight leaned back in her chair with a sigh, she had been answering calls from worried parents all morning. The phone rang again, and she took a deep breath before answering.
"Hello?" She asked, trying to sound more awake than she actually was.
"Yes, hello, this is Wyva's father. To whom am I speaking?" The voice asked.
"This is Professor Kayama." Midnight told him.
"Yes, well, Professor Kayama. After this recent incident I've made the decision to withdraw Wyva from the school." Hiryu's father told her.
"I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to reconsider." Midnight sighed.
"And why should I?" The voice asked. Their voice sounded pretentious, but maybe that was just how tired Midnight was.
"Your daughter worked hard to get into this school, it would disappoint her immensely to have to leave after a single, isolated incident." Midnight reasoned.
"You're right, but there are plenty of other schools she can attend." Her father argued.
"Yet none as large or well-funded as U.A. Even now, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure that we do not have another incident." Midnight explained, "Please, do not disappoint your daughter by pulling her out of her dream school over a single incident."
"…alright. But if there is another incident, 'Professor Kayama', we will be pulling her out of this school." Her father threatened before hanging up.
All Might, not in his muscular form, seemed to be having a similar time. He hung up the phone and groaned, resting his head in his hands.
"You two seem like you could use some coffee, yeah!" Present Mic entered the staff room with two mugs of coffee, handing one to Midnight and one to All Might.
"Thank you, Yamada." Midnight nodded, sipping the coffee.
"Yo, Kan, there's a kid already training out there. You wanna go check on 'em? I'll cover your calls for a bit."
"Alright." Vlad King nodded, getting up and walking outside, heading in the direction of the open-use training grounds.
There, Vlad King found Moxie. The boy was running combat training with a couple of robots. He bounced away from the biggest one and landed next to another, spinning around with a roundhouse kick that smashed the robot's head.
Vlad King shut down the training simulation before approaching.
"Vlad King-sensei? Is something wrong?" Moxie asked.
"Moxie, right? What are you doing here so early?" Vlad King asked, "And on your day off?"
"I thought we were allowed to use the open-use training whenever we wanted?" Moxie seemed confused.
"Yes, you are, but most students would rather be home right now. Spending time with their family after the incident yesterday." Vlad King scratched the back of his head.
"I appreciate the concern, Vlad King-sensei, I really do." Moxie laughed, smiling, "But my family's in the States."
"Still, after the incident-"
"I don't have time to slack off, sensei." Moxie interrupted, "My Quirk's not as flashy as most Pro's. It's just Bounce, I have to work to keep up, or I'll fall behind."
"Moxie, kid… how often do you train?" Vlad King asked.
"Err… pretty often? I dunno." Moxie scratched his chin.
"All by yourself?" Vlad King looked around at the empty training field.
"I don't really have anyone to train with." Moxie admitted, "I'm sure I could ask some of the other students, but making our schedules work together can be difficult."
"Hm… I'll let you get back to it." Vlad King unpaused the simulation.
"Thanks, Vlad King-sensei!" Moxie laughed, flipping over a strike from one of the robots and kicking its head off, bouncing back to put some distance between himself and the robots.
Several minutes passed like that. After finishing off the robots Moxie got another batch ready. Before he could begin, Vlad King returned with another student in tow.
"Moxie!" Vlad King called, stopping the student before he could begin the next round.
"Yeah? What's up, Vlad King-sensei?" Moxie asked, bouncing over to the Pro.
"I got you somebody to train with. She works just as hard as you do, I think you'll be a good match." Vlad King explained, "It's not wise to train alone."
"Hey, it's you!" Kendo said, stepping forward.
"Hm? Oh, you're that girl from the other day, when the press got in!" Moxie realized with a smile, "Kendo, right?"
"Yeah!" Kendo grinned, "So, I'm gonna be training with you?"
"Looks like it!" Moxie laughed.
"I'll leave you two to it." Vlad King nodded, walking away. He still had more work to do.
"So… you wanna spar?" Moxie offered.
"That'll give us a good idea of each other's strength." Kendo agreed, taking a fighting stance, "Try to make this a challenge."
"I was about to say the same to you." Moxie laughed, taking a different stance.
And there it is! I know, under a thousand words? How unlike me.
Don't worry, the Sports Festival next, and if the current drafts are anything to go by the first portion'll be a doozy.
Anyways, that's all for now.
Enigma, signing off.
