Chapter 19: Boot Camp from Hell

Hey howdy hey hello, welcome to the show! Enigma's back with another chapter!

Nothing huge will really happen this chapter, just easing into life at the training camp on the second day.

Enjoy!

Feel free to review, but don't just rip into me. I'm doing this for fun, not excessive criticism.

It was 5:30 AM the next morning that the class was woken up, most of them looking bedraggled and exhausted, with the exception of Tokoyami and Moxie. Tokoyami didn't seem tired in the slightest, and according to the alarm he had set, 5:30 was pretty average for Moxie. Hiryu, meanwhile, was not used to waking up so early. Her hair was an absolute mess, and she was struggling to even keep her eyes open.

"Good morning everyone." Aizawa addressed the exhausted class standing before him in their gym uniforms, "Today we begin a rigorous round of reinforcement training. This trip's mission statement is to strengthen everyone's Quirks as a whole, thereby allowing everyone to achieve their temporary licenses." He explained, "This is preparation to stand against and up to live-action hostility and aggression from your enemy. Prepare your hearts and minds."

"That makes sense…" Hiryu yawned loudly, too tired to even be nervous.

"With that said, Bakugo. Try throwing this." Aizawa threw Bakugo a familiar ball.

"This… is from the Quirk apprehension test…" Bakugo observed, catching the ball.

"Your records indicate you recorded a toss of seven-hundred-and-five-point-two meters, at the time of your admittance." Aizawa continued, "Let's see how much you've improved."

The students cheered Bakugo on as he stepped up to the plate, swinging his arm in circles. With a familiar battle cry, he sent the ball flying through the air.

"Seven-hundred-and-nine-point-six meters." Aizawa said, holding up his phone, to general surprise from the students, "In three months, you have all gained a lot of experience. And of course, you have certainly grown. But that growth has been primarily emotional and technical. Now the time has come to concentrate on physical advancement as well. As you can see, your Quirks themselves have only improved, at best, by a marginal amount. So, starting today, we will focus on upgrading your Quirks. I will be pushing you beyond your limits…" A grin spread across Aizawa's face.

"Try not to die on me."

"Go beyond your limits!" The teachers encouraged the students, who were engaged in their most intensive training yet, pushing their limits to improve their Quirks.

"What is this hellscape?!" The Class B students asked, watching the brutal training going on.

Moxie was stuck between two walls, created by Pixie-Bob's Earthflow, rapidly shooting back and forth between the two as fast as his Quirk would allow. He could feel each Bounce sending painful shockwaves through his legs, and he had long since stopped being able to feel his feet.

Meanwhile, Hiryu's training was a lot less physically painful, although just as intensive. She was rapidly producing large amounts of frosty mist while going through intense flight routines.

"I'm used to constantly training… but this is another level of intense!" Moxie grit his teeth, continuing to rocket between the two walls, cracks forming on them as he went.

"Keep it up!" Pixie-Bob shouted, repairing the walls.

"Yes ma'am!" Moxie roared, despite the lack of feeling in his feet.

It wasn't until 4:00 PM that they finished training, but that didn't mean they were finished working, as they soon learned.

"Now, I told you yesterday, 'today's the last day we help you out'!" Pixie-Bob announced.

"If you want to eat, get off your #sses and make it yourself! Curry!" Ragdoll was even more energetic than her companion.

"Not you." Mandalay placed a hand on Moxie's shoulder when he went to stand up, "You can't even stand right now, it's best if we don't give you a knife, okay?"

"That's fair…" Moxie sighed, his burning legs resting in a bucket of ice water, his pant legs rolled up to his thighs, "Considering what happened last time."

Moxie watched impatiently as his classmates made dinner for the night, wanting to help. He tried to stand up two more times, each time being forced by Mandalay to sit back down.

"Seriously, I'm fine to walk now!" Moxie argued, being forced to sit back down for the fourth time.

"Ragdoll can tell that's a lie, you know." Mandalay pointed to her companion, who was using her Search Quirk to keep an eye on Moxie, who waved cheerfully.

"Fine." Moxie groaned.

"Hiryu… have you never cooked before?" Uraraka asked, watching Hiryu very slowly and carefully cut a carrot.

"U-Usually my family's chef cooks it, which means I don't really know how…" Hiryu admitted, as Bakugo took the knife from her, showing prodigious skill with it as he skillfully cut the carrot, "O-Oh… thank you…"

Hiryu went on to try and help the others with actually cooking the food, but burned herself by accident.

"Ow…" Hiryu mumbled, breathing a light, frosty mist on her burnt finger.

"Maybe you should sit this out, like Moxie." Yaoyorozu suggested.

"No, I-I want to help!" Hiryu declared, clenching her fist.

"She really doesn't know what she's doing, but… that's too cute to argue with…" Yaoyorozu sighed internally.

After eating the food, which the class admitted was subpar by normal standards, but after what they experienced might as well have been five-star gourmet chow, the class headed for the bathhouse to relax and unwind.

Moxie was relaxing on one of the decorative rocks, dipping his legs into the water, a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Moxie, bro, I've been meaning to ask…" Kirishima, up to his neck in the water, looked up at Moxie, "How did you get so jacked?"

"For real, man!" Kaminari jumped in, glad someone else had finally asked first, "How in the hell did you get so shredded? You could grate cheese on your f#cking abs!" He shouted, getting some weird looks.

"Hard work." Moxie smiled, flexing his right arm.

"Aw, come on, what kind of cop out is that?" Kaminari demanded.

"I'm only half joking." Moxie laughed, brushing a few strands of wet hair out of his face, "I spend all my time training, of course I'm gonna end up like this."

"Like… all your time?" Kirishima asked.

"All my free time, at least." Moxie nodded, "If I don't keep working, I'll fall behind."

"I'm not sure about that, man." Kirishima scratched his chin.

"I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit." Shoji nodded, "You ought to spend more time doing what you enjoy."

"But… what I enjoy is training." Moxie scratched the back of his head with a sheepish grin.

"Have you ever tried other stuff? Writing? Cooking? Video games?" Kaminari asked.

"Not really!" Moxie laughed.

"Bro… we gotta get you a hobby." Kirishima sighed.

"Can't training just be my hobby?" Moxie asked.

"No!"

And there it is! What did you think?

Been meaning to mention just how muscular Moxie's gotten from all the training he's done, but couldn't find a good place until now.

Enigma, signing off.
