Chapter 24: Moving In

Hey howdy hey hello, welcome to the show! Enigma's here with another long chapter, as well as an important note:

I'll be changing how I update to improve traffic and increase how commonly I'm on the recently updated list, since FFN only counts the first update every day. I'll only update once a day, and stockpile the other chapters I write to build a buffer. From here on out the plan is to update every time I wake up, so about 7:30 to 8:00, EST.

Enough talking though, enjoy!

Feel free to review, but don't just rip into me. I'm doing this for fun, not excessive criticism.

"Augh… my head…"

Moxie awoke the next morning, still amongst the rubble. His head was pounding as a helicopter flew overhead. Everything seemed to be in a state of chaos as Heroes and police searched the rubble.

"Hey, there's a kid here!" Someone shouted, "You alright kid?"

Looking up, Moxie saw the Pro Hero Gang Orca, helping with search and rescue despite his injuries.

"Ugh, not so loud…" Moxie groaned, picking himself up, "Yeah, I'm alright."

"Get yourself over there and wait to get checked out." Gang Orca told him, "I'm sorry, but there's a lot happening right now, they'll check you out as soon as they can."

It took an hour for someone to check Moxie out and tell him he was alright, after which he gave his name to the police and was sent home. He went straight home and collapsed on his bed, exhausted.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed when he came back to reality, but a knock at the door woke him up. He shouted, "Just a minute!", and quickly threw on a change of clothes, throwing the door open.

Aizawa stood at the door, a very tired look on his face.

"Mr. Aizawa? Uh…" Moxie glanced over his shoulder at the messy apartment behind himself, "What's up?"

"I'm just here to talk to you about the relocation plans." Aizawa sighed, "We want to move students into the dorms to keep them safe."

"Oh, well, I'm fine with that." Moxie laughed, "What about my parents?"

"We already spoke to them over the phone." Aizawa explained, "They're alright with it."

"Then that's that settled!" Moxie laughed again.

"I'll see you in a few days." Aizawa nodded, "Oh, and one more thing… your mother asked me to tell you she's coming to visit." Aizawa told him, walking away.

"Ah… sh#t." Moxie scratched the back of his head, shutting the door.

Hiryu

Aizawa pulled up to the huge, decadent gates that stood before Hiryu's house, a huge mansion, and rolled down the window.

"Name?" A very tired looking security guard asked.

"Shota Aizawa." He told him.

"Right, you're expected, go on through." The guard nodded, opening the gates.

Pulling around a large fountain in front of the front steps, Aizawa stepped out of his car and made his way up. The huge wooden French doors were standing wide open, and Hiryu was at the door waiting for him.

"Professor Aizawa! Welcome!" Hiryu smiled nervously, "P-Please, come in!"

She led him through the lavishly decorated foyer and into the living room, where her parents were waiting.

Her father was a huge man with wings like Hiryu's, his skin was covered in silver scales and his fingers were tipped with dangerous looking claws. Her mother, meanwhile, was much smaller, only a little taller than Aizawa, and had pale white skin with silver hair like Hiryu's.

"Professor Aizawa. Please, take a seat." Her father said.

"Mr. Hiryu, Mrs. Hiryu." Aizawa nodded politely, sitting down on the couch opposite them, the coffee table between them. Hiryu hovered quietly by the door, "We already called you about it, but I'm here to speak to you about student relocation plans."

"Of course." Hiryu's father nodded, "I'm absolutely against it. I told your colleague last time, if another incident occurred I would be pulling my daughter out of U.A."

"I have to ask you to reconside-"

"Reconsider what?!" Hiryu's father slammed his fist onto the arm of the couch, "Reconsider allowing my daughter to stay at your school, after it has failed twice to protect her?!"

"Sweetheart…" Hiryu's mother spoke up, placing a hand on his elbow, the highest she could reach, "Please, you have to understand Mr. Aizawa, our daughter's safety is our foremost concern."

"I understand, and we're taking extra steps to ensure her safety." Aizawa tried to explain, "In light of the most recent incident, we realize just how soft we've grown under the protection of our 'symbol'. With him gone, it's given us a stark realization just how complacent we've become."

"That's all well and good, but your past doesn't exactly inspire confidence." Hiryu's father scowled, "Absolutely not. We'll put her in another school."

"N-No." Hiryu mumbled.

"I'm sorry, dear? I didn't hear you." Hiryu's mother leaned forward to see her daughter past her husband.

"I-I said no!" Hiryu raised her voice, "I don't want to go to another school, I want to keep going to U.A.! U.A.'s where my friends are!"

"Sweetheart, I understand, but-"

"You know how difficult it is to make friends!" Hiryu snapped, "I don't want to have to start over! Please!"

Hiryu's father leaned back, a troubled look on his face. His daughters safety was foremost in his mind, but he couldn't necessarily disagree with what she was saying. Hiryu had always had trouble making friends, he didn't just want to take that away from her.

"Maybe we can give them another chance." Hiryu's mother suggested gently.

"Why does being a parent always have to be so tough?" Hiryu's father gripped the arm of his chair tightly, "…alright. She can go, but I want to review your new security myself."

"That's completely logical, it can be arranged." Aizawa nodded, standing up, "I have more students to meet with."

"Of course, Hiryu will show you out." Her father nodded.

"Th-Thank you." Hiryu whispered to Aizawa as she led him out of the mansion.

"No, thank you." Aizawa gave her a tiny smile before leaving.

A Few Days Later

Class 1-A gathered outside of the dorms that they would be living in for the foreseeable future. Moxie had a bandage on his right forehead from training, and Hiryu seemed exhausted.

"It's huge!" Sato remarked.

"We're some lucky kids!" Ashido exclaimed.

"Now then, Class 1-A… I'm glad to see you all here." Aizawa told them.

"And we're glad to see you here, sensei. I was sad cuz I thought you might not come back after that press conference." Tsuyu spoke up, her statement supported by Ururaka, who nodded fervently.

"I'm surprised too. But, well… a lot's happened." Aizawa brushed the hair out of his face, "Anyway… I'm gonna give a quick overview of your dorms. But before that…"

"The training camp was meant to earn you your provisional licenses, and that's still the goal."

"Oh yeah, that's right! That's what we were doing!" Ashido realized.

"With everything that happened, I total forgot…"

"This is important, listen up." Aizawa interrupted, "Todoroki, Kirishima, Midoriya, Hiryu, Yaoyorozu, Iida. On that night, you six headed out to rescue Bakugo. In addition, Moxie, despite only planning to watch you got involved yourself. You seven were present on 'that evening' at 'that place', you took it upon yourselves to proceed towards the site of Bakugo's rescue."

All of their classmates cast various concerned looks towards the seven of them. Hiryu shrunk back a bit, though Moxie acted as though he hadn't realized.

"From the looks of things, all of your classmates understand the weight of your behavior in deciding to go there. A lot of things have pigeon-holed in light of everything that happened, but I'll say this now." Aizawa continued, "If it weren't for All Might's sudden retirement… with the exception of Bakugo, Jiro and Hagakure, I would have you all expelled as punishment." He told them, receiving various shocked reactions, "For the seven perpetrators I mentioned, it goes without saying, but… the same punishment applies for the other twelve of you who were unaware of their actions and did nothing to stop them. Regardless of the reason, the fact that you betrayed our trust doesn't change."

Hiryu swallowed nervously, still not sure if she was going to be expelled or not. Moxie seemed unconcerned, however, resting his head on his hands casually,

"From now on, if you all would do me the favor of following the established procedures and acting accordingly, I would very much appreciate it… and it would certainly go a long way towards restoring my trust." Aizawa nodded, "That is all! Now, let's head in with smiles on our faces and lots of energy!"

"That might as well be my job description!" Moxie laughed, despite the general gloominess of his classmates, quickly bouncing after Aizawa as Bakugo took matters into his own hands, cheering everyone up by causing Kaminari to discharge electricity and act stupid. Hiryu couldn't help but giggle, despite everything that had happened.

Inside

"It's one class per building. Boys and girls are separated by wing. The right wing is for the girls, and the boys' wing is on the left." Aizawa explained, "However, the first floor is common space. The dining area, baths and laundry facilities can be found here."

"It spacious! It's pretty! It's spaciously pretty! And there's sofas!" Ashido pumped her fists excitedly.

"From a studio apartment to this…" Moxie scratched his chin, grinning, "Pretty exciting!"

"It's a freakin' mansion…" Uraraka fell over.

"Your rooms are on floors two and above. On each floor, there are two groups of four rooms; half for boys and half for girls, up to the fifth floor." Aizawa continued, "You each get your own private room. Each room comes with an ac unit, a bathroom, a refrigerator and a closet. It's quite a luxurious space, if you ask me."

"Amazing! There's even a veranda!" Midoriya looked out over the U.A. grounds.

"Oh, so it's pretty much just a studio apartment." Moxie realized, "I'm glad there's a fridge at least. I'm stealing all the leftovers."

"I will fight you for those." Uraraka told him.

"For the time being, use today to get unpacked and arrange your rooms. Tomorrow, I'll give you an explanation of how things are going to operate from now on." Aizawa told them.

That Night

"Whew~ The circumstances that brought all this about may not have been pretty, but…" Kaminari took a seat on the arm of a couch in the living area, "…getting to live together like this is pretty exciting, don'cha think?"

"I'm beat…" Kirishima sighed.

"Getting unpacked was a good warmup!" Moxie laughed, sitting down next to Kirishima.

"Common living arrangements… this, too, is a form of training to raise our cooperative spirit and polish our discipline…!" Iida went on rambling.

"Take a chill pill, Mr. Class Rep…" Sero sighed.

"Are your rooms all set up, boys~?" Ashido asked, leading the girls into the living area.

"Yep! We're just relaxin'." Kaminari told her.

"So, y'know… we were all talking, and we've got a suggestion! Let's have a room showcasing competition!" Ashido suggested, "How about it?!"

"I'm in!" Moxie leapt to his feet, "Sounds like fun!"

One by one the class went through everyone's rooms, starting with Midoriya's room, which was entirely All Might themed. Next was Tokoyami's room, which was really dark and mostly black. After which they went to Aoyoma's room, which he described as "dazzling", it even had a disco ball.

So far Hiryu wasn't at all surprised.

"The only one left on the second floor is…" Uraraka turned to the last room, sitting at the end of the floor.

"It's mine!" Moxie grinned, swinging the door open.

Moxie's room was messy and haphazardly thrown together, despite having just been set up the bed was messy and unmade, as though he had slept in it while unpacking. It had dark green flannel sheets and a thick white blanket.

The desk, against the left wall, was covered with a scattering of textbooks and binders, a closed laptop sat on the desk in front of his chair.

"How messy…" Iida observed, pushing the chair in.

Just above the bed was a corkboard with a number of notes stuck to it, labelled with various times and dates to remind Moxie to do things. To the right of the desk was a worn-out punching bag, a few weights littered the floor.

"Ow!" Kaminari cried as he stubbed his toe on one of the weights.

"Of course you'd have training stuff." Kirishima sighed, "We really gotta find you a hobby."

"Hey Moxie, who's this?" Uraraka asked, pointing to one of two posters hung above the desk.

One of the posters was of Mirko, the rabbit hero, but she was pointing to the other one. The woman on that poster wore a costume similar to Moxie's, although without the cape, bunny ears or hood. Instead she wore a dark green leather jacket overtop her bodysuit. She had long brown hair tied back in a messy ponytail, and bright green eyes, a huge smile stretched across her face.

"Ah! That's my mom." Moxie explained, smiling, "The Leaping Hero: Coney!"

"Oh! Y'know, I can see the resemblance now." Uraraka nodded, looking back and forth between Moxie and the poster.

"I mean, duh. She just looks like Moxie, but if he were female and older." Jiro pointed out.

Next, on the third floor, was Ojiro's room, which was incredibly normal. After that was Iida's, which included dozens of tough-looking books and a few shelves of glasses. Kaminari's room was next, which Hiryu described as a hodgepodge, Moxie couldn't help but agree with that.

After Kaminari's they went to Koda's, which included a small bunny. The class was held up for a bit by the girls, as well as Moxie, fawning over it.

Soon after that, though, the boys realized they had only been visiting their own rooms so far, and demanded things be more even. Ashido, surprisingly, was completely alright with it, despite Hiryu and Jiro's objections.

Moving on, the class visited Kirishima's room next, which he described as a "den of manliness", a description Moxie completely agreed with. Next was Shoji's room, which had next to nothing in it.

On the fifth floor, they began with Sero's Asian style room, and then on to Todoroki's room, which was completely differently styled, being traditionally Japanese. Kaminari demanded to know how it was done, but Todoroki just told him "hard work".

Lastly was Sato's room, which was pretty boring, although he had made cake for everyone. Hiryu nibbled at the cake as they went over to the girl's side, while Moxie devoured his in seconds.

"She's the only girl on the second floor, so Hiryu's next!" Ashido exclaimed, running over to the door that lead to Hiryu's room.

"Ah, uh… alright." Hiryu slowly opened the door, leading the way inside.

The room was lavishly decorated, from the bed to the desk, everything looked expensive.

"Woah, right! You're super rich!" Kaminari laughed.

"I had to get a lot of new furniture to fit into a smaller room…" Hiryu tapped her fingers together nervously.

"D#mn, Hiryu! You're showing the rest of us up!" Kirishima gave her a thumbs up, "It looks great!"

"A-A-Alright, you've seen it! L-Let's go!" Hiryu shooed everyone out of the room, blushing furiously, "Th-This was a mistake…" She muttered.

The rest of the room competition went by in a breeze, and everyone gathered on the first floor to hear who the winner was after they voted, with the exception of Moxie, who insisted he had to use this time to catch up on his studies.

"And with that! Excluding Bakugo and Tsuyu… the tentative first inaugural room king award goes to… drum roll please!" Ashido reached into the box dramatically, "With six votes… the room which scored leaps and bounds over the others, singlehandedly beating out all of them for that vaunted first place spot… Rikido Sato!"

"Huh? Wait, what?!" Sato cried.

"By the way, all of the votes were from the girls! The reason being… man, that cake was tasty!" Ashido admitted, "Except for Hiryu, she just didn't vote."

"You didn't vote?" Kirishima asked.

"I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings…" Hiryu admitted nervously.

"So it's over, right? I can sleep now?" Todoroki asked.

"Ah- Todoroki! Wait up a minute!" Uraraka called to him, "Deku and Iida, you guys too. Kirishima, Yaoyorozu, Hiryu, you as well. Could I have a moment of your time?"

"What's all this about?" Hiryu wondered, as Uraraka lead them outside.

"So, um… Tsuyu has something she wants to say to you all." Uraraka explained.

"I… always say what's on my mind, no matter what." Tsuyu began, "But there are also times when I have no idea what I should say. Do you all remember what I said back at the hospital?"

"I think I left before that… oops…" Hiryu realized, remember how she had rushed out of the room.

"Even though I sympathized with you guys, my choice of words was really severe."

"Tsuyu…" Uraraka placed a hand on her shoulder.

"But when I heard this morning that you all actually went through with it, I was shocked beyond belief." Tsuyu continued, "I was frustrated at my own cowardly behavior which manifested itself as trying to stop you all… and so many negative feelings were welling up within me…"

"I had no idea what I could even say to you guys." Tears welled up in Tsuyu's eyes, "And I couldn't just have fun chatting with you all like nothing happened… but that made me really sad." The tears dripped down her cheeks, falling to the ground, "so that's why… I had to have a proper conversation with you all and set things straight. All I wanted was to be able to go back to playing around with everyone like we always do."

"You're not the only one, Tsuyu." Uraraka admitted, "Everyone was feeling really worried and uneasy, and wanted to wipe away those feelings. So I'm sure… the whole 'room king' thing probably came to be because we all understood how they felt, and, um… so that's why… instead of blaming them for it, we wanted to, uh… how should I put this… it was kinda a difficult thing to tackle, but… anyway," Uraraka pumped her fist in the air, "We thought we should all just laugh it off together and give it out all from now on! Something like that!"

"Tsu… I'm sorry." Hiryu hugged the frog girl, without thinking, "I had no idea…"

"I'm so sorry, Tsuyu! Thank you for talking to us!" Kirishima apologized, quickly followed by everyone else as they crowded in around Tsuyu.

And there's the whole thing! What did you think?

Like I said before, this is the only chapter for today, even though I'll be writing more chapters.

Enigma, signing off.
