42- A Glimpse

Early Fall

Pan frowned as she glanced around the empty halls. Where was everyone, and why was the castle so quiet?

She turned a corner, and her eyes widened at the sight of a young man and woman walking in front of her. There was something about the two of them that felt familiar, but Pan was positive that she had never seen them before.

"Excuse me," Pan said, but neither one of them turned like they heard her. She tilted her head slightly and sped up so she could get a better look at them.

The man was tall. His hair was a dark blue that was messy around his ears. The woman was only a little taller than Pan. Her dark hair was messy around her shoulders, and in the low light, Pan could see she had a dark purple hue to it.

There was a loud gasp. "Look at this!" The woman said as she turned and held up some of her cape. The man snorted as he clamped a hand over his mouth and tried not to laugh.

Pan's eyes widened as she looked at the two of them. They were teenagers! Probably a few years younger than her, and they were beautiful! The girl looked nearly identical to her, except for her blue eyes, and the man! He could have been Trunks if not for his hair and dark eyes.

"KJ burned this again!" The girl huffed. "That's it! I'm kicking him out of my room!"

"You say that, but you spoil him worse than Appa spoils KS," said the man.

The girl let out a huff and crossed her arms. "Little brothers are so annoying," she muttered as she glanced at him.

"I am not your little brother! I am your Oppa!" He declared. "I was born three minutes before you!"

"It doesn't count!" The girl shook her head quickly. "I was in Mama's stomach longer!" She stuck her tongue out.

"It does too count! I came out first!" The boy declared.

"What are you two fighting about now?"

Pan's face grew warm as she looked up to see Trunks walking down the hallway. He was older, but he still looked so handsome! Pan realized that this was a dream now, and the two in front of her were her children! They had to have been!

"Appa!" The girl ran over to Trunks and frowned. "Tell him I'm the oldest!"

"No! Appa, I was born first!" The boy declared as he ran up to Trunks as well.

Trunks let out a loud groan and turned back around. "It's been seventeen years. Can't you two stop arguing about that?"

"No!" The two said as they followed after Trunks, one on each side of him.

Pan smiled and followed after them quickly. She couldn't believe it. It was her and Trunks' children! They were still bickering with each other, and Trunks let out a sigh and held up his hands.

"Fine! Fine! During fall and winter, you're the oldest-" he pointed to the boy. "In the spring and summer, you're the oldest," he told the girl. "Half and half."

"Appa, that makes no sense," the girl muttered with a frown.

"It doesn't have to make sense for it to work," Trunks declared.

"Ha! It's fall! I'm the oldest!" The boy grinned.

The girl scowled, "APPA!"

"Panna!" Trunks flung open a set of large doors. "The children are aggravating me again!"

Pan rushed to follow them, but she gasped instead as she woke up. Her eyes found her and Trunks' ceiling, and she let out a small sigh. She had seen them- her children. She smiled and placed a hand on her stomach. She wasn't sure how she managed to get pregnant twice, but she was sure her pearls were responsible for it in a way.

With a small groan, Pan sat up and rubbed her eyes. The last thing she remembered was killing Frieza. She glanced down at her hands, which were free from any blood or cuts. She had never felt so powerful as she had when she let that voice take over. It was scary how natural it felt to Pan, and how much she liked it. Frieza was a terrible monster though, and he deserved it.

Carefully, Pan got up off the bed. Trunks wasn't in the room, but she could feel him and their family nearby. She wondered just how long she had been sleeping. She walked over to the doors quietly and could hear them in the sitting room outside of her and Trunks' chambers.

"It's been a day, can you still not get near her?" Chi-Chi asked softly.

"No," came Dr. Brief's voice. "Every time I get around her, her Ki starts to rise, and she won't let me near her. The only one she still allows near her is Trunks."

Pan frowned slightly. It had only been a day, that wasn't too bad, but she wondered why her body was keeping everyone but Trunks away.

Pan opened the door slowly, and she could feel everyone turning her way.

"Panna!" Trunks was by her side in a flash. His hands grabbed hers, and she smiled up at him brightly as she thought of her dream.

"I'm okay," she told him before he had time to ask. "I saw them, Trunks," she beamed.

"Them?" He raised an eyebrow.

"The babies!" Pan's grin widened.

Trunks' eyes widened, and he glanced down at her stomach. "Babies?"

"Two of them," she nodded.

Trunks' jaw went slack for a moment. "What?" He whispered. "But I've only ever felt one."

"The second one is only a few months along," Pan said. "The older one was hiding it. And they're not hibernating anymore. They're going to grow normal now, and they should be here by the Yule. Both of them will be just fine," she smiled.

"How - How do you know that?" Dr. Brief asked her quietly.

"I don't know," Pan admitted with a small frown. She had surprised herself just then by saying all of that because she hadn't dreamed about it. How did she know that? "I just do," she said, and she felt strongly confident about it.

"Are there really two of them, Pan?" Bulla asked with wide eyes.

Pan nodded, "positive." She turned and faced Trunks, and she was still smiling. "It's a girl and a boy," she wanted to squeal. "We're going to have one of each."

Trunks' eyes were still wide, but a grin was spreading across his face. "Really?"

"Mhm! They're beautiful, Trunks," she sighed.

"Hey-" Goten cut in. "The babies are healthy, right?"

"Yes," Pan nodded.

"Okay then, do you mind telling us what in the hell happened?" He said. "Like, you do remember what happened, right?"

"Yeah, I killed Frieza and his army," Pan shrugged.

"She's shrugging!" Goten gasped as he turned around to look at the others. "Pan! You appeared out of nowhere and you-"

"I said, I remember!" Pan huffed. "Would you like a demonstration?" She raised an eyebrow.

Goten gasped and took a step back quickly.

"I'm kidding!" Pan laughed.

She didn't know why she was in such a good mood. Maybe it was because she had seen a glimpse into the future, and she knew all would be okay. Her future children's faces filled her vision.

"So, I remember what happened, but I can't really explain it," Pan said. "I was on the earth, and I heard a voice in my mind telling me that they could make Frieza tremble. They said the babies would be fine, and I would be aware, all I had to do was give them control."

"And you don't know who or what that was?" Marron asked gently.

"No," Pan shook her head. "But she sounded familiar like I've met her before or something. I don't know," she frowned. "I was aware of everything that was happening, but I didn't have control over my body. I didn't even know what I was doing or how I was doing it."

"Has anything like this ever happened before?" Bulma asked Vegeta. "Can Saiyans do things like Pan did?"

Vegeta let out a heavy sigh. "She's the first person I've ever seen to take out a whole army with one swipe. She killed Frieza effortlessly. I've only read legends about Saiyans that could do those things."

Bulla gasped, "maybe Panny is some sort of legend. Maybe you have the soul of some powerful Saiyan inside of you."

"Maybe," Pan shrugged. "But whatever the case, she's harmless."

"Harmless?" Goten raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't say that to Frieza and his men."

Pan narrowed her eyes at her brother. "Harmless to those I love," she said. "When I did that move that knocked out Frieza's men, I could feel it. It was like a fire was rushing through my body. I was telling it to kill everyone that was hurting my people, but to spare the ones I love."

"I felt it," Trunks said as he squeezed Pan's hands. "It was like something warm covered me. It was nice," he smiled.

"Yeah, I did too," Goten said as the other nodded. "It was amazing, though," he said.

"Yeah, it was," Bulla nodded with a grin. "It would be cool if you could somehow harness that power and just make it come to you whenever. You should hear the things that are being said about you."

Pan's eyes widened. "What's being said?"

"Just that Vegeta-Sei has one badass Princess!" Endou spoke up with a grin. "The soldiers that were there have been patrolling down the halls hoping to get a glimpse of ya."

"They're all idiots," Radtiz rolled his eyes. "But I agree with them. My niece is quite the badass. How did that happen, little brother?" He teased as he looked at Goku.

Pan glanced at her parents, who had been awfully quiet. Her father looked troubled, though he quickly hid it with a small as he laughed. "Who knows!" He shrugged.

Chi-Chi got up and walked over to Pan before she hugged her tightly. "I always knew you had it in you," she whispered to Pan.

Pan smiled as she hugged Chi-Chi back. "Yeah, I think I get it from my Mama."

Chi-Chi laughed and leaned back before she placed a hand on Pan's stomach. "You already look bigger," she mused. "Are you hungry?"

"Yes," Pan nodded immediately. "All three of us are," she grinned.

Trunks chuckled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Well, I can't let you guys starve, and it's about breakfast. I say, let's all go eat."

"And Goten better not steal any of my bacon today," Pan muttered.

Gohan laughed as Goten's face paled. "Trust me; I'm never messing with you again!" He declared. Pan knew he was lying, but she wouldn't want it any other way.

Goku let out a heavy sigh as his eyes bore into the mountains in the distance. He hadn't been able to sleep the night before after what had happened, and now that Pan had woken up, he really couldn't sleep. He felt too uneasy.

He had left Chi-Chi sleeping and wandered the quiet castle until he found the balcony. It had a nice view of the Dragons Den, and Goku was half tempted to jump over the railing and run to them.

"Kakarot."

Goku jumped and turned around. If he didn't know any better, he would say that Pan was standing in the doorway looking at him. He knew better, though.

"Who are you?" He asked quietly. "You're the one that took down Frieza, right?"

She nodded her head. "Unfortunately, this will probably be the last time I'll ever be able to take over Pan's body. I used up most of my strength taking Frieza and his army down."

Goku swallowed hard. "What will happen to Pan once you're gone?"

"Oh, she will thrive," she smiled brilliantly. "That's the whole reason why I'm even here in the first place."

Goku slowly turned towards the mountain before he glanced back at her. He wanted to ask if what happened the night Pan was born had anything to do with her.

"He's the one that gave me my power," she said gently as she stared at the mountains.

"He did? The- the-"

"Yes," she nodded again. "500 years ago, this planet was a lot different. It was called Planet Plant because green covered most of the planet. Many different races lived here, too, but soon, greed started to take over. The races were fighting and killing each other. They were destroying the planet." She let out a heavy sigh as her eyes found the mountains. "He found me one night and tested me. You see, back then, his race was very misunderstood. Instead of running away in fear or killing him, I helped him. So he rewarded me, and in turn, rewarded Planet Plant and the Saiyans. The last battle for this planet was the one I lost my life in," she said gently. "Before I died, I made a curse that my power would come back one day."

"Why, Pan, though?" Goku asked gently.

"Because my blood runs through her veins, just as it does yours."

Goku gasped as his eyes widened. "You're our ancestor?"

She smiled softly and nodded. "My curse was that the first girl born of my family would inherit my power. When I died, my soul was restless, and I was able to wander for hundreds of years until she was born. He saved her that night, and I was allowed to go rest inside of her as well. I've been with her for many years now. I've been watching, waiting, and protecting her when needed. But my time is finally coming to an end. When she was born, you carried her up those mountains, didn't you?"

"Yes," Goku whispered.

"Soon, she will have to go back up them. He is waiting for her."

"When?" Goku asked breathlessly. "How soon?"

"Soon," she said quietly. "When her Prince becomes her King. That's when she'll awaken."

Goku didn't have time to ask any more questions. A shift ran through the air, and she stumbled. He caught her shoulders quickly, and there was a soft groan.

"Papa?" Pan mumbled as she looked up at him and blinked her eyes. "What's going on? Was I sleepwalking?" She asked softly.

Goku's heart was thudding in his ears. Just what kind of destiny did his daughter have? It scared him.

"Yeah," he said gently. "I think you were a bit. Would you like to go get something to drink with me?"

Pan smiled gently and took his arm. "Yeah, a warm drink sounds nice. Make it extra hot."

Goku chuckled, but as they walked inside, he glanced behind him, back to the mountains. He knew he just imagined it, but he could swear a pair of red eyes were watching them.
