Okay I know that Chapter 1 was too short, but this is were things are going to get interesting, especially for Team Sonic, okay? Now this is it, Chapter 2!

Chapter 2.

Breaking News.

Bygone Island. A beautiful island with vast jungles, mountains, a desert, and villages. It was also the home of Sonic the Hedgehog, his best friend, loyal sidekick, and little brother -by bond - Miles "Tails" Prower, and his other friends, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna, and Sticks the Badger. They were what made up a group of young heroes named Team Sonic. No matter how many times the villains, including Doctor Eggman, tried to take Bygone Island by force, Team Sonic was there and most of the time, defeated these villains, but the team also had their defeats too, but then, they would bounce right back up and fight for the people's freedom until these villains gave up. Team Sonic's archnemesis was none other than Doctor Eggman. Time and time again, Eggman would try to overtake Bygone Island and turn it into an amusement park, but Team Sonic was always there to smash his robotic minions. But currently, the team found themselves at the home of their youngest teammate, Tails. Tails had been working on a new project, but he got all too quickly bored and decided to rest for a bit, so his friends came by to check up on him. The young fox had invited his cousin, Fara, and her husband, Chad, over too, after all, she was family, and after helping the team defeat Eggman in a battle a few months ago, the team saw what potential Fara had for skill, she was pretty much like Tails, really smart, and very resourceful. So they gave her a position within Team Sonic, but she refused, saying that they were enough for a good team, considering how young they were, after all, she was in her thirties. Just last year, Fara and Chad had moved in to Bygone Island from her home island, Acadia Island, but that happened when she first found Tails was a long lost cousin of her's, she invited him and his friends to come back with her to Acadia Island, where pretty much, Tails found out that his uncle, Jedidiah Prower, was the island's Prime Minister. While on the way there, Tails had almost died, thanks to a bounty hunter that went by the name, Tristan Rhoms, the young fox kit had nearly been killed numerous times by the bounty hunter, and the organization that he worked for, formerly known as the Gala Syndicate, but Sonic and the others were always there to back him up. First, Tails had been poisoned, then he had been awfully attacked by Shadow, then after that, the kit had been shot in the chest by the Gala Syndicate's leader, Caden Andross while attending a banquet that he and his friends had been invited to. Then Tails almost died once again, due to an infection that had settled in his wound, but luckily, he fought it and got better, then afterwards, things got better for Team Sonic, after Fara and Chad got married. But then, Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Sticks had to go back to Acadia Island to testify against Andross and Rhoms - of whom the bounty hunter was known by his alias, "Murdoc" - and afterwards, the villains were sentenced to prison for attempting to kill a political leader, and attempted murder of an under-aged child - of whom the child was none other than Tails - the bounty hunter swore revenge on the two-tailed fox, and even tried to kill the poor fox cub right there in the courtroom before the very eyes of the judge and jury, but luckily, Chad, and the bounty hunter's twin brother, Tauren Rhoms whacked the tar out of him in the very courtroom. And now, Tails wanted to put that behind him, and the same was said for Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, and Sticks, and of course, Fara, Chad, Cody, and Esmer. The mongoose had also moved with Fara, Chad, and Cody to Bygone Island and put the past behind him. Tails was more than happy to share his home with Esmer, that was until the mongoose bought his own house, which eventually, that happened. Tails would have nightmares every now and then, but Sonic and the rest were always there to comfort the fox, considering that after returning home, Tails had a mild case of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Sonic and the rest tried to get the young fox kit to seek help through therapy, but he refused and even tried to kill himself once, but thanks to Knuckles, they saved his life, then one night, Tails broke down and started crying in front of his friends, and told them that he was ready to seek therapeutic help, afterwards, Tails' emotions healed up and he was able to return to his normal self, and all that was one year ago.

A/N: I would say that Sonic and the rest are a year older:

Sonic - 16

Tails - 9

Amy - 13

Knuckles - 17

Sticks - 11

And by the way, both stories happen after Season 2 of the TV show.

And now, Tails was resting on his couch. After spending hours working up on something that needed fixed, the young fox had gotten bored and decided to rest until his mind cleared up. Currently, only Sonic and Amy were at his house, but they had to wait because Tails was currently sleeping in his makeshift bed, snoring away in his slumber.

"What do we do? Wait until Fara gets here?" Amy whispered softly, not wanting to wake up Tails.

"Either that or wake Tails up," Sonic whispered, "and let him know that we're here."

"Wake him up? What if he's just went to sleep." Amy said softly.

"Then we'll wait." Sonic said.

Suddenly, the two hedgehogs heard a mummer, they whipped their heads around and saw that their friend was stirring up in his sleep.

"You know I can hear you both, right?" Tails mummered.

"Sorry about that." Sonic said.

Tails sat up and opened his eyes. "Nah, I needed to wake up anyways." The fox wiped his eyes.

"Fara said that she'll be here soon, you guys seen her yet?" Tails asked, getting out of his bed.

"No." Amy said.

Tails looked at the time on his wrist communication device. "Ah crud!"

"What?" Sonic asked.

"I forgot, I was supposed to return a book to the library." Tails said. "I'm gonna have to do it tomorrow."

"Late fee?" Someone said.

Sonic, Tails, and Amy looked towards the doorway and found that Chad had just walked into the house.

"Well... yeah." Tails replied.

"Well... not to worry, Fara took care of that." Chad said.

Tails cocked his head in confusion. "When?"

"She came by and saw that you were sleeping, so she took the book and returned it for you." Chad answered.

"Where is she anyways?" Sonic asked.

"She's home." Chad replied.

"Can we just do dinner at your all's place?" Tails asked.

"If you want to." Chad said.

"Wait? I thought we're gonna do dinner here?" Amy asked.

"Well yeah, but I haven't been to their house in weeks." Tails said.

"Yeah that's true." Sonic said. "Plus, I think their place is pretty good when it comes to having dinner."

"Well, better let Knuckles and Sticks know that we're having dinner at Fara's." Amy said.

An hour later…

Sonic and the others left Tails' house and had decided to have dinner at Fara's, and from what they heard was that dinner was going to be great. Fara had decided for the evening's meal to cook up some chicken parmesan potpie, and some cornbread with steamed brussel sprouts. The team said that sounded good to them, Amy, Sticks and Tails helped Fara with the preparations for the meal, but Tails accidentally burned his hands, so after wrapping them up in bandages, Fara relieved her cousin of duty, so the kit walked into the living room and sat down in a sofa and joined Sonic and Knuckles in watching the Comedy Chimp Show, Chad thought that the show was actually pretty funny, with the jokes and puns, he laughed through it all. Fara and the girls joined the boys and watched the show, but then, the show was interrupted for a live broadcast on the TV.

"And we were just about to get to the funny moments." Knuckles said.

On the screen was a black-colored tiger news anchor, and she was seen standing in front of a well to-do nice looking palace. Pretty soon, she spoke up into the microphone that was in her hand.

"It's widespread panic sweeping across Neola Island as reports of a viral infection is in the air, causing citizens throughout the island to stay home. As if already, Neola Island's newly elected Prime Minister, Franklin West is urging the Neolan government entities that the island is going to have to quarantine, as a hundred and ninety-five civilians have already tested positive for the virus." The reporter blinked her eyes and continued on with the breaking news.

"As if, civilians from the other islands are being encouraged to not come to Neola Island, due to the virus, and... wait. I just got a report from the station that Acadia Island's Attorney General, Bill Kidd has tested positive for this very virus, due to his visit with Prime Minister West. The Prime Minister is going to have to take a test for the virus."

"Ah no." Chad whispered, shaking his head.

Tails looked at his cousin in-law. "What?"

"Bill and I go way back." Chad said.

"I heard that this virus came to be, due to a medical facility exploding, is it true?" Sonic asked.

"From what this morning's news had to say, yeah it's true." Fara said.

Sticks looked at her friends." I'm telling ya, it's a government plan to kill us all!"

Tails and Chad eyed the paranoid badger.

"Uh yeah...sure." Chad said.

"Sticks, relax," Fara said, "diseases are natural. And if the virus reaches Bygone Island, I'm sure that it is not deadly."

The report then switched to the Neolan Prime Minister talking to another news anchor, the news anchor spoke into the microphone.

"Good evening, this is Josh Nolan, live from the Prime Minister's palace, where just moments ago, we learned that the newly elected Prime Minister of Neola Island has, thank goodness, tested negative for this virus. We will now go to the Prime Minister, the Honorable Franklin West."

The Prime Minister, a young jaguar, probably in his early to mid twenties, spoke into the microphone and looked at the camera facing him.

"After taking severe measures, the Neolan Government and I have decided to shut down the whole island for a period of two weeks and have everyone take a test for this virus. I know that together, Neola Island will rise again, if everyone does their part in staying home."

The camera screen then switched back to the tigeress news anchor, she took the report from there.

"The Prime Minister of Neola Island believes that if everyone pitches in and stays home, the virus will eventually go away, as if, the stay at home order takes effect tonight. Everyone is required to stay in their homes, unless if it's for an emergency."

The reporter then stopped speaking for a moment, then spoke again.

"I just got a new report, and from what I heard, it's not good news for Acadia Island. Both the Acadia Island Prime Minister and his son have both been exposed to the virus, and in fact, have tested positive for it."

Tails and Fara looked at each other.

"That's not good." Tails said.

"Okay, you know what?" Knuckles said. "Sticks may be right, something's not right."

Sonic looked straight at the echidna. "Knuckles, you just made sense."

"What?" Knuckles asked.

"No. You're right," Tails said. "Something's off. If the virus went airborne this morning, then why did my uncle and Cody test positive for the virus? Something tells me that it was around long enough before this crud with the Neola Island Medical Facility explosion."

"And how much time do you think that it's been around?" Sonic asked.

"Probably around several weeks, maybe three at the latest." Tails answered.

"What in the heck was Cody doing back home?" Fara asked, confusion on her face.

"Maybe…" Sticks said, "he was preparing his home island for the biopoclypse."

"You know what, Sticks?" Chad said, "your theories are full of whack."

Tails immediately grunted and looked at his cousin in-law with wide icy blue eyes.

"I would of not said that to her." Tails whispered.

"Why not?" Chad asked. Then he felt it, the slap to his face. He immediately looked at Sticks, who had a angry look on her face.

"You're calling me and my conspiracy theories whacky?" Sticks said. "I call you whacky!"

And with that, the jungle badger jumped on top of Chad and started shaking him.

"Stop it you little feral pest!" Chad yelled, getting Sticks off of him, but to no avail. Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and Tails had to drag their paranoid friend off of the young fox's cousin in-law before she had the chance to beat him up.

"You whacko!" Sticks shouted.

"Sticks, Sticks... just let it go. Chad didn't mean anything bad." Sonic said.

Sticks looked at her blue friend and pointed at Chad. "He's calling my theories whacky and you do nothing about it?"

"Sticks, chillax." Amy said. "He's just not used to hearing your theories. After all, this is all new to him."

"You mean to say that Chad's not used to hearing my conspiracy theories, and he's been here for the last year!?" Sticks exclaimed.

"I'm sorry." Chad said. The badger looked at him, and then she calmed down a bit.

"I'm sorry that I called your conspiracy theories whacky." Chad apologized. "Well...I mean that I've had friends who believed the same things you believe, but I just shut them out and away from me. "

Tails eyed Sticks. "What he's trying to say is that he's not wanting to shut you out from him. Now you get it?"

"Oh I see, sorry for getting a little temperamental with you." Sticks said.

"I forgive you, if you'll forgive me?" Chad said.

"Consider it done." Sticks said.

Later that evening…

After eating dinner with Chad and Fara, Sonic and the others had decided to stay the night with them, considering that their house was pretty much like Fara's old home back on Acadia Island, except for that it had no upstairs, just an attic, and a big pantry. Tails called first dibs on the bedroom closest to Fara and Chad's bedroom. In fact, Fara told him that when Chad built the house last year, he had designed the bedroom for the kit, with a workbench for fixing and inventing. Tails was amazed by all that Chad had made the room. Tails got on the bed and once he did, he told his cousin that the bed felt really comfortable.

"I could sleep here every night, if you and Chad didn't mind?" Tails said.

"Nah, he and I wouldn't mind at all." Fara said, joining him on the bed. Tails sat down next to her. Fara wrapped an arm around his back and hugged him, the kit giggled a little.

"I love you. So proud to be your cousin." Fara said.

Tails blushed. "Love you too," he whispered. Tails and Fara hugged each other for a moment, the kit smiling as he knew that he was loved upon by a family member that he never knew he had until a year ago. Breaking the hug, Fara told Tails that she was going off to bed now, walking out, Fara stopped as Tails said something.

"Fara?" Tails asked.

"What?" Fara said as she looked at her little cousin.

Tails had tears trickling down his face, but they were tears of joy, not grief. "You and Chad are like parents to me. I never had real parents before, well...I did, but they died before I really got to know them and now... it's feels like I finally have parents again."

"Aww, Tails, I never knew that you seen Chad and I that way." Fara said, a tear rolling down her face.

"Promise me one thing." Tails said, crying.

"What is the promise?" Fara asked.

Tails got out of the bed and ran to her, hugging her cutely. "That you and Chad won't die on me…(sniff)...(sniff)... please?"

Fara hugged him back. "I promise...it's okay, nothing's gonna happen to Chad and I... okay?"

Tails looked up at her, smiling as more tears rolled down his face. Fara put her hands on the kit's face.

"You're okay." Fara said as she placed a kiss on Tails' forehead.

Tails buried his face into Fara's chest. "I miss them."

Fara knew exactly who Tails was talking about, his parents. She missed her uncle and aunt too, who were at one time, Tails' parents. Sonic and Amy walked into the room and found Tails and Fara hugging each other and crying at the same time.

"Something's wrong?" Amy asked.

"No... not really." Tails whispered softly.

"Tails and I were just having a talk about parents." Fara said.

Sonic knew immediately what Fara meant when she said parents, so he and Amy walked up to Tails and joined in the hug. After a minute of hugging and comforting Tails, they broke it off. Tails was able to control his emoitions a little bit after everyone told him goodnight. Tails got back in the bed and covered himself up, knowing that he finally had "parents" again.
