Hey! I know that my posting is very inconsistent but being in high school is a joy. I will most likely not have a posting schedule and will be posting when it convenient for me or when I want/need to write. The last couple of days have been more and more stressful with tests and other things so this has been my escape. This chapter was kinda rushed because I needed something to happen in this chapter that will get me into a position where I can finally move the plot forward. I am trying to keep the plot engaging while still developing characters. If you have any ideas about which minor gods I should include in this story please let me know. I will most likely be posting a chapter that goes back in time a bit so we can see the events of the first chapter play out through mortal eyes. Possibly Estelle, but I don't know yet. This chapter will be in first person to help set it out from the rest of the chapters. so yeah, that about it for the top. Please check the bottom of the story for any chapter related comments from me and so on. Hope you enjoy - the still very random, slytherin
Chapter Four Poseidon POV ( Third Person )
Poseidon flashed down from Olympus about thirty minutes after Percy. He wanted to comfort Poly and let her know that everything was going to be ok, but he couldn't. So he met her at the house and put her down for a nap. Once she was asleep he went to Athena's place. He asked her to watch over the girl while Percy was away. She agreed and went off to her son-in-law's house. Finally, he flashed to Percy. He found him exactly where he thought he would, Montauk. The waves were choppy here which he found strange. Yes, he was sad about the losses, but conflicted or enraged, not so much. Then he looked at Percy and could almost feel the conflict inside of him. Then it dawned on him the ocean is reacting to him. He didn't realize that Percy still had a small amount of control over the ocean. He was tempted to take it away but quickly brushed the thought aside. The ocean was still his birthright after all. Poseidon wanted to do something that would make it where Percy would always be welcomed at the sea.
With one thought, Poseidon gave Percy a part of his power, control over the tide. When Percy felt a change hid head shot around.
"What did you do?" he asked, his voice shaking with anger and fear. He felt a power shift, whether it was entering or leaving him, he did not know.
"Hey, Tide god, chill," Poseidon said, throwing his hands up in surrender.
It took Percy a moment to understand what he said. Tide god? That couldn't be me, he thought. Then he looked out to the water. The connection he had with the tide was the strongest that he had ever felt. He was amazed when it seemed to respond to his mood, his thoughts. He felt Poseidon walk up to the side of him.
"Why," Percy asked, almost teary-eyed as he knew he would never lose his connection with the sea.
"I knew how much it means to you," Poseidon said simply.
"Would you join me?"
"What?"
"If I wanted to put an end to Zeus's reign, would you join me," Percy asked, making stern eye- contact with his father?
Poseidon thought about this. He had tried this very thing before, but they were defeated. He had betrayed everyone once before, could he do it again. He wasn't quick to respond. He wanted to think this through because he knew it was an in or out situation, no in-between.
"Why and what," he asked simply.
"He refused to allow the Olympians to help in the war, killing most of the demi-god population. As for what, imprison him in the pit? It wouldn't be hard to hold him there." Percy said this as if it didn't bother him at all, which worried Poseidon.
"If you join me, great because I will need help. I am not stupid enough to try and take on all the Olympians at once."
"Who else do you have behind you?"
"Hades and Ares so far. I am going to try and get Apollo, Dionysis, and a large number of minor gods. I also will contact Camp Jupiter, asking them to join if they would like to fight or to remain peaceful. I want to keep as many mortals out though, we have already lost too many." With that final statement, his eyes drifted to his left, where three gravestones lie. One read Paul Blofis, another Estelle Blofis, the last Sally Jackson. They were some of the first to be killed in the war. Tartarus wanted to kill Percy while looking him in the face. So all monsters were ordered to abduct him but never kill. Percy kept hiding and rescuing others from danger on the surface. Tartarus was enraged that Percy had not fought him face to face and thought he needed motivation. He killed his family. The day he had found out, the combined power of Nico, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Thalia, Reyna, and Annabeth could barely hold him back from marching up to fight Tartarus by himself.
He had never felt more enraged until recent events. Estelle was only 15 when she was killed. She had just found her first boyfriend and had been in a great spot in life. Percy felt that it was entirely his fault that everything went to crap. If he had just started by fighting Tarturus head-on, many people would be here. But Annabeth had a plan. She wanted to gather as many people as possible to fight. Using Hazel's abilities, they reopened a part of the Labyrinth and used it as the new Camp Half-Blood. It had a top of line training facilities, multiple mess halls, bunks, and other things all completely underground. They thought that the training would suffice, they were wrong. Percy couldn't bear his thoughts anymore, so he turned to his dad.
"What do you say?"
"I'm in," Poseidon said.
"Me too," a voice said from a distance. The pair turned around to see two female figures standing close together. One looked tall and mature, the other short and young.
"I understand that you didn't have me on your recruit list but father has gone quite crazy as of late," Athena said, stunning the two men.
"I'm in, dad!" Poly exclaimed.
"But honey do yo-" Percy was cut short.
"Yes. Tartarus killed mommy and he did nothing about it. I don't think that makes him a good leader," she stated, matter-of-factly.
"Ok, then. Now we have an architect and a strategist. This team is going somewhere." Percy said as he looked at his two newest comrades.
"When do we start," Athena asked.
"As soon as we can get to Hades's place."
Hello! thanks for reading chapter four! Here is a bit of a plot plan. The next chapter might WILL NOT be from Estelle's point of view. Sorry but she doesn't live to see the big battle. I might go ahead and have the crew go to the underworld but from there is where things go well ... crazy. Any ideas for a mortal point of view will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
