The rushing of the train starts to fade and we are now surrounded by a cave looking out onto a familiar beach. We stand there for a moment just staring at the space the train station just stood. I then lean forward and make eye contact with the other girls. We then give each other knowing looks and race towards the beach.
As I run towards the bright blue ocean I pull my uniform jacket and tie off. I then pulled my hair out of the braid to let it fall loose as I ran. From the sound behind me I assume, the boys are running behind us. My feet then hit the water and I let out a delightful laugh.
Lucy then splashes me with water and I laugh even harder as I splash her back. The five of us then break out into a full-on water war. At some point in the middle of the fight, Edmund picked me up from behind and threw me in the water. I then splash Susan as I get up and twirl Lucy around.
"Ed?" I hear Peter ask his brother. I turn and see that Edmund was staring at the cliffside. I make my way towards him and put my hand on his arm.
"My love, what is it?" I ask as I run my fingers through his hair. He turns and looks down at me for a split second and gives me a loving smile. He then turns back to the cliff and studies it again.
"Where do you suppose we are?" He asks without looking at all of us. I give him a confused look and let out a small laugh.
"Where do you think?" Peter chuckles at his brother's question.
"Well I don't remember any ruins in Narnia." He says glancing at all of us. We then all turn to look in the direction of the said ruins. I squeezed Edmund's arm as I realized something. I could not feel the magic again.
I feel Edmund squeeze my forearm in response.
"Maggie?" He whispers to me. I don't respond, I just keep looking at the ruins. I reach for my locket and squeeze my eyes shut.
"We need to go check it out." I say turning to everyone and start to trudge my way back to shore.
After collecting some of our discarded items we make the hike up to the ruins. The walk up was so silent that it was almost haunting. As soon as we make it to our destination we all go our separate directions.
I walk around and run my fingers along a stone wall that managed to stay up. There were stairs next to it covered in vines. I reach forward and try to pull some of the vines off of the stairs to see if they would give me any clues.
"Maggie?" Peter asks, coming behind me.
"Yes?" I say not even looking at him as I work on my task. I hear him let out a big sigh.
"Maggie I'm sorry about earlier. With your brother." He says as I feel him stare at the back of my head.
"I don't know what you want me to say." I say as I pull even harder at the vines
"I just..." He starts. "Maggie can you please look at me." He says frustrated. I spin around and cross my arms.
"What?" I ask annoyed. He looks at me with pleading eyes.
"Mags you and I have been so close for so long. I hate that you are so mad at me. I'm sorry I messed up with Rodger. But I have had such a hard time adjusting to being back there and I know you were too. I had so much responsibility and then I was in control of nothing." He says desperately.
"Well you can't be in control of everything Peter. Especially when it comes to me." I say giving him a stern look.
"I know." He says looking away. He then looks back at me. "You have become a strong woman Maggie and I am really proud of you." He says squinting due to the sun behind me.
"Thanks, big brother." I say uncrossing my arms and giving him a playful grin. He then pulls me into his arms and squeezes me tight.
"I love you kiddo." He whispers.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love you too." I say pulling away and smiling at him. I then make my way towards my boyfriend who had been watching from a distance.
"Are you two alright now?" Edmund asks as I walk up to him.
"Ya I think so." I say as I stop in front of him.
I reach forward and take the apple he was eating from his hand and take a bite.
"Well? What did he say?" he asks, taking a couple of steps forward.
"He just apologized for what he did and that he was having a hard time going from a grown-up back to a kid." I say with a shrug taking another bite of the apple.
"Hey if anything I had the hardest time! I went from being six feet tall and having a gorgeous fiance to being a shrimp and having a gorgeous girlfriend and I have been a saint about it." He says stopping and crossing his arms. I roll my eyes at him.
"Yes darling your life is so terrible." I say sarcastically. I then lean up and give him a quick peck on the lips.
"Tease." He says trying to pull me in for more. I laugh pulling away from him and wink.
"You know it." I say walking away with a swing in my hip. I hear him groan as he watches me walk away. I make my way towards Susan and Lucy. When I get to Susan we link our arms together. She stops suddenly and picks up a golden figurine off the ground.
"I wonder who lived here?" Lucy asked, turning to us.
"I think we did." Susan says studying the figure. The boys come up behind us to also look at the figure.
"Hey that's mine!" Edmund says coming up and taking the figure from his older sister. "It's from my chess set." He says analyzing it.
"Which chess set?" Peter asks his brother.
"Well I didn't exactly have a solid gold chess set in Finchley, did I?" He says sarcastically.
"It can't be!" Lucy exclaims grabbing Pete's hand running up onto a stone platform. I exchange a look with Edmund and grab his hand to follow the others.
"Lu what's wrong?" I ask as we make our way onto the platform.
"Don't you see?" She asks looking at us desperately. I look around at the surroundings.
"What?" Peter asks his youngest sister. She then pushed me and Edmund to stand in front of some fallen columns.
"Imagine walls!" She says pushing Peter in place. "And columns there!" She says moving to her spot.
"Cair Paravel."
