Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Sovereign of Souls Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Gunvolt, Inti Creates and a few others do.
Lucas spread his wings and continued to blast at the woman in front of him. Elise dodged to the side as he hummed and flapped his wings.
Elise threw another dagger which he blocked with his wings. Lucas shook his head while he landed and continued to battle Elise. Elise sliced at him and whipped at him with her hair as he blocked the strikes with his armored limbs.
"Your cursed with power!" Lucas stated while he rolled his eyes under his armor. He knew very well Elise was… Damaged.
The manic movements, her constant flickering eyes and glares she gave him. Still? The sadistic gestures and constant slices at him told him she was bitter… But it didn't stop him from being angered as he continued to bob and weave.
Elise wrapped her hair around his arm as Lucas grabbed her arm and threw himself backwards. Lucas flapped his wings, skirting them close to the edge. Elise sliced at his neck only for Lucas to block the strike and blasted her backwards.
"Your acting insane to try and tell me what to do!" Elise hissed while she tried to slice Luca's neck.
"Says the woman trying to cut my neck open like this…" Lucas muttered to himself and shook his head.
He twisted and flexed his wings while pushing Elise backwards. He didn't want to assume that the girl was easily beaten. She was already proving to be as strong as he was fast… However?
Elise didn't have many ranged options and he did. That gave him enough of an advantage to fight back effectively. He didn't want to think about what would happen if she managed to pin him down for a few minutes.
Elise watched Lucas glare at her before he managed to block a kick at his head and turn. He gathered his strength to launch a roundhouse kick which threw Elise to the ground.
She reached for a kunai only for Lucas to charge one of his weapons.
"Unless you'd like to try and bring yourself back from a headshot at point blank?" Lucas questioned while Elise looked back at him. "Then I'd assume that this fight is over…" Lucas said and kept his weapon trained on her head.
He didn't dare wait for her to get up and move. Lucas knew she'd get him if he took his aim off her. Lucas didn't want to risk it while he clicked his tongue against of his mouth.
"Do you really think we're safe?" Elise questioned before lunging to her feet. She wrapped her hair around Lucas's arms. "They hunt adepts… We're adepts… They will butcher us like I butchered them." Elise said as she stared into Lucas's visored eyes.
"How does that give us any right to kill them in return?" Lucas questioned while Elise rolled her eyes.
"You act like they don't stalk us, idiot." Elise stated with venom in her voice. "We should be ruling them. They promised me I'd control everything as queen of the dead. Everything is supposed to be mine." Elise added which made Lucas turn to the side.
"Your insane." Lucas responded which Elise responded to by leaning in close. Her chest pressing to his.
"Says the one talking to me…" Elise purred out while continuing to lean in close to Lucas. "Your not like the other adepts. They kept you locked up like I was… I'm curious why, though. They'd have to have a good reason for locking up an adept like you." Elise said as Lucas pushed her away.
The woman giggled to herself while he looked at her. She turned to Lucas with a massive smirk before he rolled his eyes.
"They told me they'd test me." Lucas said as Elise giggled to herself over and over. She giggled to herself while looking at the ground.
"AND YOU BELIEVED THEM!?" Elise yelled in-between giggles. "Your more of a fool then I thought…. They don't want to cure us. They want us as weapons and you know it. They'd never allow us to live free in this world. They don't allow adepts to live with any degree of freedom in this world." Elise stated while Lucas crossed his arms.
He sighed and turned to the side. This was going to be a very long day if that was indeed the case to begin with. There was a lot for them to discuss and debate to begin with.
Lucas shook his head and turned to the adept who smiled at him despite herself. It was a bad omen that Lucas knew would indeed get worse when it came down to it.
"We're not going to come to an understanding, are we?" Lucas questioned as he turned to the side.
He already knew the answer to begin with. he was quite curious what happened next to begin with.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that Lucas and Elise are going to have a weird relationship. Next chapter will be 1200 words or so and will be in 3-20 chapters or such. until then, Lighting Wolf out!
