A/N: Here we go, the next chapter, not a very big one this time. But I hope you still enjoy :)

Chapter 13

Evie was trying her very best not to laugh at the irony of her current situation.
She was in a white poufy dress, wearing a veil stood in front of a priest as he yammered on through what Evie found to be the very boring process of a wedding ceremony.
And while she did hope at some point in her future, she'd be stood next to Jayden getting married it sure as hell was not going to be like this.
She shifted uncomfortably not enjoying the constricting feeling of the dress that Mia had forced her into. All of this to the sole purpose of catching Dayu who was apparently targeting weddings and kidnapping brides.
Evie shut out the priest and couldn't help but turn when she heard crying, and she rolled her eyes when she saw Ji dabbing his eyes, but they widened when she saw Kevin blubbering as well.
"Sweet Jesus" mutters Evie.
Jayden takes her hand in an attempt to get her to stop fidgeting, he really hoped Evie was more enthused on her actual wedding day, especially since he was planning on being the one stood next to her.
But he knew this wasn't her scene, long and constricting dresses, the church and the priest in general. And he could see how bored she was with the whole situation.
Ji suddenly stands up behind them, "they took the bride?" he asks through his own version of a samuraiser.
"Okay the Nighlok didn't take the bait" he says looking at Ji and Evie.
"Great, can I get out of this thing now?" ask Evie as she pulls the veil off and looking at it as though it had personally offended her.
"I thought the fake wedding would've worked for sure" sighs Emily.
"Not this time. The moogers stormed a church downtown and kidnapped another bride" explains Ji.
"Of course they did, the one time we actually want them to show up, and they don't" huffs Evie.
They head back home to rethink their plan and Evie marches into her room, "someone get me outta this thing before I rip it off myself" she warns.
Emily and Mia go after her and begin unlacing the dress for her.
Evie steps out of with a satisfied sigh and changes back into her own clothes.
"Much better" she says as she releases her hair from the bun and shakes it loose running her hands through it.

Mike looks at Jayden, "dude I actually thought Evie was going to bolt" he says.
"Not Evie's scene" replies Jayden.
"Not at all" agrees Ji, "still it was very beautiful" he admits.
"You do realise Evie is going to wear black for her wedding right, just to say screw you to tradition" chuckles Jayden.
"Wouldn't surprise me one bit" nods Mike.
"Nor me" agrees Kevin.
The girls walk back in, Evie looked a lot happier to be back in her own clothes. And Mia hangs up the dress with a sort of reverence.
Everyone sits down and looks at the map, "that makes it five brides kidnapped" says Ji as they plot each kidnapping.
"Hey look, it's a pattern, in the shape of a star" points out Mike as he traces it.
"You're right" realises Kevin, "have you studied maps in crime patterns before?" asks Kevin.
"Mhm, kinda. I watch a lot of cop shows" replies Mike.
"Too much was left up to chance. We have to lure them in before any more brides are taken" notes Jayden.
"I just can't help but wonder what those poor girls must be going through. I mean this is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives" sighs Mia.
"Do you think they would've taken those brides to the Sanzu river?" asks Emily.
"No, the living can't survive there for long" says Evie, "its toxic to any human, they'd be dead before they got much misery out of them" she adds.
"The moogers must've used the gap to take them to another place" agrees Ji.
"Wherever they are, if our sting operation would've worked, we could have helped those poor brides" says Mia.
"We have to try again" nods Jayden.
"I'm not putting that thing on again, I did not make the most convincing bride" snorts Evie.
"I'll do it" offers Mia quickly with a smile.
"Be my guest" says Evie.
"The question is though, how do we get them to come to our wedding?" asks Kevin.
Ji pulls out a clipboard, "this is a list of all the weddings scheduled in the area" explains Ji.
Everyone leans forwards, "That's a lot of weddings, and that's the problem" says Emily.
Jayden suddenly smiles, "I have an idea" he says.
A little while later Jayden and Ji walk back in with the clipboard.
"All these weddings were cancelled except one?" asks Mia in confusion.
"Jayden and I warned them all about the bride kidnapping" confirms Evie.
"And with only one left, we know exactly which one the Nighlok will hit"
"Guess I get to be the blushing bride bait this time" notes Mia.
"Be my guest" nods Evie.
"And something tells me you're happier to put that dress on, than Evie ever was" smiles Mike taking the clipboard.
"Oh come on every girl wants to wear a wedding gown. Maybe Mia more than most" smiles Emily.
"I doubt Evie agrees with that statement" snorts Mike.
"I'll wear one, one day, if it's the right dress" smiles Evie.
"Not the right man?" asks Kevin.
"Well that too I suppose" admits Evie with a snort.
"Hey I'm a sucker for Cinderella" smiles Mia.
Jayden lifts an eyebrow before glancing at Evie who just smirks back and winks.
"Okay, once we get a fix on the location of the brides, I'll send back the coordinates" assures Mia.
"And we'll be ready to come and save them" nods Jayden.

The next day Mia was dressed up in the dress and Evie had to admit it suited her much more than it did her.
As she sees Jayden in his suit she smiles, "just as handsome as yesterday" she says straightening his bow tie, "very James Bond" she adds.
"You know I'd rather it was you stood up there with me" he assures taking her hands.
"I know, but that dress, not me. You know me, got to be on my own terms" smiles Evie, "just remember who you sleep next to at night" she adds.
"As if I'd ever forget that" replies Jayden leaning down and kissing her briefly before pulling back.
"Now let's go and save those brides shall we" says Evie.
Jayden nods and the two of them walk out and soon enough the whole group heads out.
They arrive at the venue, Mia and Emily going for the bride, while Mike and Kevin grab the groom to hide them away so Jayden and Mia could take their place. While Evie waits with Jayden.
"This is certainly one of the strangest things we've ever done" says Jayden.
"You think" snorts Evie.
Mia appears and Evie leans up, so her mouth was next to Jayden's ear, "think of me" she teases before she turns and disappears to watch their plan unfold.
And as expected before the ceremony was even half way done the moogers burst in and take off with Mia, none the wiser they'd actually grabbed the pink ranger.
Evie walks over and holds her hand out to Jayden who takes it and lets her pull him up.
"Well that couldn't have gone better" smiles Evie.
"Not even a little" nods Jayden.
"And now we wait" she says.
"And now we wait" he agrees.

Evie walks up to Jayden as he hangs up his samuraiser.
"Everything in place?" asks Jayden.
"Just as we planned, time for phase 2" she smiles.
Mike and Kevin join them.
"Let's do this" says Kevin.
The four of them draw the symbols and a moment later, their doubles are stood in front of them.
"Warehouse 32,Shoretown" says Jayden.
The doubles takes off before the four of them turn and run in the opposite direction.
They arrive at a small pagoda just in time to her Dayu give the order to take out Mia.
"Let's ruin their fun" smirks Evie.
Jayden releases the lion zord and it zooms into the room knocking the moogers away from Mia and dropping her samuraiser into her hand before landing back in Jayden's as the four of them bust through the door.
"What, how in the world, how did you escape the warehouse?" gasps Dayu.
"I think it's your turn to cry. I'm not the only samurai ranger that's been kidnapped today" smirks Mia just as Emily slices through the cocoon holding the brides.
"No" cries Dayu.
"Two samurai ranger brides are twice as nice, don't you think" smirks Emily as she steps forwards pulling off the veil.
"How can this be?" demands Dayu.
"Pretty easily actually, when Mia traded places with the real bride to protect her. We made sure she had double bride protection" answers Emily.
"So when you came back to kidnap the real bride, guess who you got instead" says Evie with a smug smile as she looks at Emily.
"And that led us right to you" nods Mike.
"But the warehouse, who went there?" asks Dayu.
"Our doubles" replies Jayden.
The brides all rush out of the pagoda while Mia and Emily re-join the rest of them.
"Your dress making days are over" says Emily.
"Oh yeah, we'll see about that" snarls Dayu as she sends a blast at them.
"Samuraiser" calls Jayden and their six of them slip outside, each one morphing as they wait for Dayu to emerge with the moogers.
"Show yourselves" she demands looking around.
Each one of them steps out from their hiding place, "samurai ranger, ready" they smirk as they close in.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today for one thing" says Mia.
"Rangers together, samurai forever" they answer encircling Dayu.
"I have but one thing to say, moogers attack" orders Dayu.
"Bad choice" says Jayden as they each attack the moogers.
"I could do this all day" smirks Evie as she takes out the moogers around her, Jayden takes off to help Kevin and Mia, and Emily, Mike and Evie soon join him slicing aside Dayu's blast.
"I've never been one for musicals" says Evie.
Mia and Kevin each activate their spin swords and launch a double attack on Dayu sending her reeling backwards.
"Finish her" says Mia as Jayden brings out the fire smasher attaching the beetle disk.
"Canon blast mode" he calls as each of them loads their disks into it.
"This'll change your tune" smirks Evie.
"Six disk beetle canon, final strike" calls Jayden as he sends the blast at Dayu when suddenly another Nighlok leaps in front of her and deflects the blast away.
"Whoa" gasps Kevin.
"Who the hell is that?" asks Mike.
"Rangers, one of you will be sword Urumasa's greatest challenge" he warns.
"What does that mean?" asks Mia.
"Deker, you came to save me" gasps Dayu.
"Not quite" he answers.
"What?" she asks but Deker turns.
"Rangers, I will duel one of you soon" he turns and grabs Dayu the two of the leaping away.
"Your running away?" calls Mike.
"Cowards" yells Kevin.
Deker doesn't even turn as he sends giant moogers at them.
"Well fine then, if that's how its going to be" says Evie.
"Samuraisers" they call each activating their zords.
Jayden activates the combination symbol and within moments they're in the megazord with beetle armament.
They try to fight he moogers but they close in grabbing hold of them megazord and jamming the controls as well as rendering them unable to move.
"We're stuck" realises Mike.
"Jayden we gotta change this up fast" warns Mia.
"And I know just how to do it" says Jayden as he pulls out the beetle disk and separates it from the main megazord sending the moogers backwards.
"Kevin" he calls.
"I know exactly what you're thinking" nods Kevin as he activates the swordfish zord.
The swordfish zord shoots its torpedoes before combining with them.
"Megablade activate" they call as each one pulls out their sword.
"Swordfish slash" they activate and the moogers are taken down like a knife through butter.
"Piece of cake" says Evie with a nod.
"Samurai rangers, victory is ours" smiles Jayden.
They power down and return their zords to their usual forms before heading back into town.
"Hey Em, you know you made a beautiful bride" compliments Mike as he looks at her.
"Thank you, I felt so pretty" smiles Emily before she turns and sees a downcast Mia.
"Mia, you okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, I guess so" sighs Mia.
"Hey because of you all those brides were saved, and will get to have their special day" reminds Emily.
"She's right Mia, the plan would never have worked without you" agrees Evie. "Though I bet it'll take some serious therapy before they plan their next weddings" she adds with a snort.
"What Dayu did was terrible, but I just can't shake the feeling that all of Dayu's anger comes from past sadness" explains Mia. "I mean why was she so into the wedding dress?" asks Mia.
"Obsessive tendencies, wanting to feel pretty despite being so hideous, she's a Nighlok Mia, who knows and I gotta be honest who cares" points out Evie.
"I guess so, I just hope someday I get to play the bride for real" smiles Mia.
"Don't worry you will. I'm sure of it" promises Emily linking her arm with Mia's.
"Something tells me the flooding of the Sanzu river wouldn't stop that" smiles Evie with a nod.
"Oh look a bakery, there's nothing like a cupcake to make you feel better" beams Emily pointing to it.
"She has a point" agrees Evie, "lets see if we can't even get Kevin to cave" she snorts as they turn and walk over, Evie glances back and sees Jayden brooding and she can just guess over what.
"Em, go grab our fearless leader, he could do with a cupcake too" smiles Evie.
Emily nods and walks back to Jayden, "come on, come share a victory goodie with us. Samurai rangers, cupcakes are ours" cheers Emily with a smile.
Jayden looks at the others who all gesture for him to come over, Evie turns and smiles crooking her finger at him.
"Why not, as long as it's not wedding cake" nods Jayden with a smile as he walks over with Emily.
They get to the door and have to dodge around two guys holding a lot of cakes before heading inside.
Everyone picks out a cupcake, or rather Mike picks out six for himself.
Evie gets two to take with her and they head back to the house.

After dinner Evie and Jayden were in the kitchen doing the washing up and drying the dishes.
Jayden looked over at Evie and smiled. As he continued drying the dishes.
"What?" asks Evie as she hands him another one.
"You know Emily isn't the only one who looked beautiful in a wedding dress" replies Jayden.
Evie smiles, "thanks" she replies.
"You were you so anxious to hand it off to Mia though, I mean should I be worried you were happier to send her up the aisle instead of doing it yourself?" teases Jayden.
Evie rolls her eyes and hands him another dish, "you know me, I don't do long dresses" says Evie.
"No you looked about ready to rip it off right there in the church and bolt" nods Jayden.
"Besides you saw Mia, girl was practically salivating at the prospect of getting to dress up like a bride. She's obsessed with weddings" chuckles Evie. "Besides, Emily matched the real bride better than I do, and Mia wanted to do it. I figured I was better off watching your back" replies Evie, "besides white's so not my colour" she adds.
"Well either way, you looked beautiful" repeats Jayden.
"You looked pretty dapper yourself" smiles Evie, "even if you did steal my colour" she adds teasingly.
"I wear black all the time, you don't get to hold it exclusively" chuckles Jayden, "and everyone male was in black at the time" he adds.
"Fine I'll let it slide" says Evie, "can you believe Mia was still talking about the perfect wedding, honestly I almost choked on my cake to try and escape" admits Evie.
"Well as long as she doesn't bake her own wedding cake" chuckles Jayden.
"You want to know something?" asks Evie.
"Sure" replies Jayden.
"Pretty sure I saw Mia smuggle that dress into her room, odds on she puts it on and prances around the room in it" giggles Evie.
"I seem to recall you prancing around in costumes when we were younger" reminds Jayden.
"Yeah, when we were younger, as in children, and it's not like any of those costumes were a bride, or a princess" retorts Evie.
"You were a fairy at Christmas" reminds Jayden.
"Yeah and what colour was that costume?" asks Evie pointedly.
"Ji found you a black one" admits Jayden with a smile.
"And remind me what was your costume, I recall you looking adorable in an elf costume" smirks Evie.
"Hey we promised not to bring that up" argues Jayden.
"I'm pretty sure the pictures are still around here somewhere" warns Evie, "I'm sure the others would love to see their fearless leader dressed in an elf costume" smirks Evie tauntingly.
"You wouldn't?" asks Jayden in horror.
"You're the one who says I'm cruel" teases Evie.
"Not that cruel, at least not to me" smiles Jayden.
"Alright, I won't show it to them, but don't you forget its still there" smirks Evie as she hands him the last dish.
"Oh and don't bother trying to grab it, I've hidden it, and you'll never find it even if you tear this place apart" adds Evie as she dries her hands off.
"You're cruel" repeats Jayden.
"It's why you love me" chuckles Evie.
"Not even in the top ten" retorts Jayden.
"Aw, you have more than ten reasons, that's so sweet" teases Evie.
"I have a lot more than ten reasons why I love you" smiles Jayden.
Evie rolls her eyes but smiles, "you're being sappy" she says.
"We've been surrounded by weddings all day, give me a break" chuckles Jayden.
Evie glances at the door before leaning up and kissing him quickly, "you're cute" she smiles.
"Okay that's mean, Emily is cute, I'm not cute" argues Jayden.
"Alright you are incredibly sexy and seeing you in that tux made me have very not battle related thoughts about you" smirks Evie, "better?" she asks playfully.
"Much" replies Jayden with a laugh.
"Good, we wouldn't to damage that male ego now would we" teases Evie.
"I don't have an ego" argues Jayden.
"Keep telling yourself that" snorts Evie as she walks out of the kitchen.
Jayden just shakes his head and follows her out.
"Just promise me, if the day does come, we do it our way" says Evie.
"Absolutely" smiles Jayden.
"So you'd be alright with a bride in black?" she asks.
"As long as its you, yes" replies Jayden.
Evie smiles, "good" she nods, "and remember to stock tissues cause Ji and Kevin were blubbering like babies for our fake wedding" snorts Evie.
"Some would consider that a very sweet thing" reminds Jayden.
"Some people, not me" answers Evie.
"Fair enough, but you can't yell at them when it's the real deal" smiles Jayden.
"Watch me, I'd be the bride, I can yell at whoever I like" retorts Evie.
Jayden just laughs, "like you'd need to be the bride for that to happen" he teases.
"True, very true" agrees Evie before looking at him.
"Whoever this new Nighlok is, he might be a problem" she notes.
"Yeah, and we have no idea who he is, or what he really wants" sighs Jayden.
"One of us will be Urumasa's greatest challenge, what does that even mean?" muses Evie.
"I have no doubt we'll find out" replies Jayden.
"I'm going to see if the archives have anything on him" she says as she turns.
"Evie its been a long day, surely that can wait" says Jayden.
"Nope, not when it comes to some new Nighlok who wants one of us, and if he's looking for a worthy opponent, well I know who I'd pick" says Evie looking at Jayden pointedly.
"Just be careful and don't overdo it?" asks Jayden.
"I won't" promises Evie.
"Well just in case" replies Jayden he disappears only to reappear with his sketchpad and looks at her pointedly, "you can have some company" he smiles.
"Fine, but don't disturb me" she warns.
"You won't even know I'm here" assures Jayden as he sits down and flips open the pad and starts to sketch.
Evie sits down with a sigh and opens a book.
Whoever this guy was he wanted one of her team, and if he was out for the best of them, then she knew who he'd end up choosing.
