It had been like destiny had finally decided to act in my favour. All afternoon I had paced around in the woods, trying to calm myself and looking for a way to speak to Bella. I didn't want to go to her house again considering how bad it went last time, but a phone call wouldn't do it either.

But then she was there, looking like an angel sent from heaven. Her hair was still tied in that ponytail but instead of her T-Shirt and baggy pants she now wore a form fitting jean, a loose top and one of Charlie's shirts above it. Never had she looked more beautiful to me.

My first instinct was to hug her, but I held myself back just in time, pushing my hands down my pockets instead. I didn't know where we stood, if a hug was acceptable to her or if she through with everything.

But then she had made that stupid imitation of Charlie and suddenly it had felt like before. It had been so easy to talk to her like we had when we stayed at my garage trying to fix these piles of junk which were one day supposed to be motorcycles. Dinner had gone well too. When Charlie told his fishing trip story Bella had laughed and this laugh had finally brought some red back in her cheeks She had looked so happy and carefree, so like the girl she had been when she had first moved to Forks, before she had become part of the world of freaks. I was happy simply watching her laugh and eat and speak. When dinner was finished, and our dads settled in front of their game I asked her to come outside. By now, the sun had gone down, and the moon had risen. She had never been here this late before. Charlie always wanted her back before dark. So, I seized the opportunity and led Bella back to the back yard. I grabbed a blanket from the garage while passing by.

Lights in the reservation were few after dark and Forks was far enough away so its lights didn't outshine the stars. I put down the blanket and sat on it, pulling her down with me. We lied on our backs and looked at the star lit sky. I heard her gasp and couldn't suppress a grin. "Not bad, isn't it?"

"I have never seen so many stars before..." she breathed. I had seen them countless times but tonight, with Bella by my side, it seemed like the first time. Keeping them from touching Bella, I crossed my hands behind my head.

For a while we simply laid there, side by side looking at the moon and the stars.

"Aren't werewolves expected to turn on a full moon?" Bella spoke up. I had been so busy looking at her, savouring in her everything that I hadn't seen the moon.

"Don't believe everything you read, babe." I replied in a very serious voice. Bella began to giggle and playfully hit me in the chest. When she looked at me, the expression on her face was very soft. "I missed you, you know," she murmured and stretched out her hand just a little. I felt her fingers lightly on my face as she traced the outline of my jaw. I thought I heard her say "Beautiful." But even with my enhanced werewolf hearing I couldn't be sure.

"Bells, about this morning..." I began but she surprised me once more when she firmly shook her head. "We'll talk about it but not tonight. Please?"

I nodded and she let out a small sigh of relief. For now, at least everything seemed to be alright.

A cool breeze made she shudder, and she huddled closer. When I hesitantly opened my arms, she put her head on my shoulder and her hand on my chest. Her whole body pressed to mine, and it fitted perfectly. The feeling of her little body so close to mine made me feel things I shouldn't be feeling, and I had to close my eyes to push them down.

"Look!" she called and pointed towards the sky. "A shooting star." She grinned and raised her head looking at me. "Now you have to make a wish."

Why would I need a wish? Everything I want is already here. But I didn't say the words out loud; afraid it might drive her away again. Luckily, she didn't ask what my wish was and merely settled down again, her head on my shoulder, her hand on my chest and my arms around her body. And for now, it was good.
