Sins of Blairwood-3
~Wittle Wallace~
"So, when's Erma supposed to show up anyway?" Sylvia asked as she was with two of her friends, Amy and Miko.
"She should be here any minute now." Amy said. "She's even bringing Senshi with her."
"Well… hello there… little ones." A creepy voice said from behind. The three girls turned around to see a creepy looking ventriloquist doll floating in the air, with no one holding it. "Would you like to play with me? We will play today… we will play every day… we will play forever…"
"Okay Erma, cut the invisibility act, we know it's you." Amy said.
"Who is this Erma you speak of little one?" Wallace asked.
"Spirit Spear Chastiefol: Fifth Configuration, Increase." Senshi's voice echoed out as tiny kunai like spearheads swarmed the dummy like a swarm of bees.
Senshi used Snatch to pull all the girls away from Wallace as he tried to fight the many blades surrounding him.
"Spirit Spear Chastiefol: Third Configuration, Fossilization." Senshi said, motioning upwards with his middle and index fingers, forming the blades into one spear that pierced Wallace, and began turning him to stone.
When he was completely petrified, Wallace fell to the ground, and shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces, as Senshi's Spirit Spear, reverted back into his drumstick and flew around him.
"Hmm… I know what creepy little dolls like him are capable of. Play time is over for you."
"Senshi that was so cool." Amy said. "What was that?"
"What, my spirit spear? It's something every prince from the Fairy King's forest receives from the Sacred Tree." Senshi said. "It's got a lot more forms than just the ones you saw. Mine's named after an ancestor of mine who had a spirit spear as well."
~Please~
All was quiet during the day, Emiko was sitting at the table, reading a magazine on makeup and beauty products, when Erma came up and held a flyer to her mom.
"Yes dear?"
Erma held up the flyer which read, Friday Bring your pet to school day. No Spiders, that means you Erma.
"Now Erma, you do remember what happened last time when we tried to get you a pet right?"
~Flashback~
Erma and Emiko were standing in the middle of the pet shop with the pet shop owner confronting them. All around them, the birds, fish, and reptiles, all were motionless and dead in their cages.
"Ma'am… I'm afraid you have to leave." The clerk said.
~Convinced~
"Honey, take a look at this." Emiko said, handing Sam the flyer Erma gave her.
"Bring your pet to school day?" Sam asked.
"Yep, you know what that means." Emiko said.
"You do remember what happened the last time we tried to get her a pet right?" Sam inquired.
"Don't worry, I found a place where we won't run into the same problems." Emiko said. "An' besides, she's been a bit moody since I said no."
"How bad is it?" Sam asked, turning to enter Erma's room.
"Um…"
Looking into the room, Sam saw that there were objects flying through the air and Erma was covered in shadow.
"Get the keys." Sam said.
"Should we invite Senshi as well? He seems to have a way of calming her down whenever he's around her." Emiko said.
"Right, I'll grab the keys and you go get Senshi." Sam exclaimed.
~The Vet~
"Hello, we're here to find a pet for our daughter." Emiko said as Senshi and Erma were eager to look around.
"Well of course my dear. Right this way." The shop owner said leading them through the building. "Now do be careful, they do get excited when seeing new people."
Throughout the cages, there were all sorts of monsters to be taken in as pets. But the one that confused Sam, was the cute looking puppy in one of the cages.
"Huh?"
"Oh, I wouldn't choose that one if I were you." The shop owner said. "He's… teething at the moment." Behind the puppy was a literal mountain of bones from what used to be the puppy's cellmates.
"Thanks for your time, but I'm afraid none of these pets are gonna work." Sam said.
Back in the car, Emiko and Sam buckled Erma and Senshi in before taking their own seats, sitting in the parking lot for a bit.
"Sam we could try with that puppy." Emiko said. "It would make Erma happy for a pet."
"I understand what you're say Emiko, but do you know how much it's gonna cost just to feed one of those things?" Sam asked.
"I know, but we've come so far out here." Emiko said with a sigh.
"Well is there anywhere else we can go to?" Sam asked.
"There is one other place." Emiko said.
"It's worth a shot." Sam sighed.
"Thank you dear." Emiko smiled.
After a bit of driving into the woods, Sam, Emiko, Erma, and Senshi came across a traveling gypsy cart, and stopped right in front of it.
"Yep, seems legit." Sam said.
"Puppies." Senshi cheered, him and Erma racing out of the car.
"Well, they're certainly enthusiastic." Emiko smiled as she and Sam followed, seeing that the two children were eagerly awaiting them in front of the cart.
"Free puppies. Come and get a free fushi puppy." The gypsy woman said.
"Go ahead Erma, go and pick someone out." Emiko said. "An' remember Senshi, your mom said you could pick ONE animal to have as a pet."
"So, what's the catch?" Sam asked as Erma and Senshi went to the box.
"What do you mean?" The gypsy woman asked.
"I just find it hard to believe that someone would give away puppies for free." Sam said.
"Well… these are a special rare breed. They desperately need a home." The gypsy woman said.
"But if that's so, why do each of them look different?" Sam questioned.
"There are… uh certain things in this world that… not even man can explain." She exclaimed.
"I don't think that's a valid argument." Sam said.
"You look at me and my wagon, and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about."
'She looks like a crazy person to me.' Senshi thought looking at the arguing grownups.
Erma reached into the box, wanting to pet a puppy, but all of them backed away from her. She seemed a little upset at this, until she felt one poking her hand with its nose, sniffing her palm. Erma smiled under her hair, and picked that puppy out of the box, pulling him onto the grass and sitting down with Senshi, both of them petting him. A sight in which Emiko did not miss.
"I'm not too sure about this let's just g-"
Sam stopped talking, when he noticed Erma and Senshi both petting the puppy, and laughing as he licked them both joyfully.
"We'll take that one." Emiko smiled.
"Excellent." The gypsy woman exclaimed.
"Senshi, don't you want to pick one?" Sam asked.
"None of them seem right for me." Senshi exclaimed.
"Well all right then. Let's head out then." Emiko said.
The drive home was a long one, and Emiko couldn't help but smile when she looked into the backseat after the kids were quiet for a while. Both of them were asleep, with Erma laying her head on Senshi's shoulder, and the newly named Siris sleeping on both their laps. Silently, she took a picture of the sight with her phone, and swore she'd save it to her photo album, while sending a copy of the picture to Senshi's mother.
After they got back home, Senshi woke up with a yawn, not aware that he woke up after Erma, who was looking out the window, trying hard to hide the blush on her face.
"Well, thank you for coming Senshi." Emiko smiled.
"It was fun." Senshi smiled hopping out of the car. "I'll come by and play with Erma tomorrow."
"Sounds good." Sam said.
Senshi ran home, across the street from them, and before opening the door, noticed there was a package sitting on the porch. Reading the label, he smiled when he saw it was addressed for him.
"Mom, I'm home." Senshi called out, only to get no response. "Oh, she's out at work again." He said a little upset, as he brought the package in.
To his surprise, whatever was inside the package, began to move, and that caught his attention. Tearing away the paper, Senshi saw the box the package came in, had air holes. Untying the string and opening the lid, Senshi gasped and looked inside when he saw the remains of an egg shell, and a baby drake sitting in a nest of hay, munching at the remainder of the shells, before looking up at him, wide curious eyes. Tapped to the side of the box was a letter.
"Senshi, I found this drake egg in an abandoned nest, and realized I still owed you a Christmas present from last year. So merry late Christmas, and I apologize for that again. As soon as I saw this egg I thought of you, and thought how much you'd like to have it as a pet. I know you'll take good care of it, and hope to see you soon. Love Aunty, M." Senshi read aloud. "P.S, if the drake has already hatched by the time you get this, then it will see you as its father and imprint you onto its memories."
"That's what the air holes must have been for." Senshi smiled. "At least now I'm not gonna be lonely whenever mom's out on business."
Reaching into the box, Senshi smiled as he picked up the baby drake, no bigger than a two week old kitten. Cradling the drake in his arms, Senshi cuddled the baby, and it reciprocated the cuddle with a purr.
"I need to find out if you're a boy or a girl." Senshi exclaimed looking at the back of the letter, finding something that could help him identify his inquiry. "Red, orange, brown, or yellow eyes, male. Blue, green, violet, or pink eyes, female. Okay, so you're a female." Senshi smiled, looking into the drake's emerald green eyes. "I think I'll name you after a dragon from one of my favorite book saga, Saphira." Saphira chirped happily hearing that and nuzzled into the crook of his neck even deeper. "Hey cut it out, that tickles." He laughed.
