This is a fic I wrote in honor of Ellen's birthday! I asked her to give me a prompt and she gave me Chanel No. 5. Hope you all enjoy it. Also check out Ellen's work on here she writes fantastic Serenate stuff. Her author's name is: Dr. GG. As always I own nothing.
The Bass household was awash in activity. Blair and Chuck were hosting an engagement party for Dan and Serena and there were about twenty people prepping for the celebration. Blair had left the final details in Dorota's capable hands before she had gone upstairs to get ready.
Maxwell, Blair's hairdresser, was just putting the final touches on her updo when Chuck rushed into the bedroom.
Blair glanced at the clock on her vanity and sighed. "You're late. Everyone's going to be here in forty-five minutes."
Henry, who was playing on the floor next to his mother, got up and ran to his father. "Daddy!"
Chuck reached down picking up his three year old son kissing him on the cheek. "Hey buddy." He then walked over to Blair leaning down to kiss her proffered cheek. "I'm sorry the conference call took much longer than I had anticipated." He nodded his hello to the hairdresser.
"Your suit is laid out." She closed her eyes as Maxwell sprayed her hair. "I wasn't sure what tie you wanted. I'm wearing my midnight blue Dior." Opening her eyes she watched her husband in the reflection of her mirror as he sat down on the bed arranging Henry on his lap.
He nodded. "Then I will wear something that matches it perfectly." He kissed the top of his son's head. "How was school today Henry?"
Henry started to recount his day as Chuck listened carefully asking a question here or there. Maxwell finished Blair's hair and left closing the door behind him. Chuck watched as his wife stood up. She looked beautiful as always. He regretted being late. If he had gotten home when he had planned to he would've had time to make love to her before she had her hair done.
Henry realizing he had lost his father's attention turned and reaching up with his hand pushed his father's face in his direction. "Daddy look at me."
Chuck snapped out of his thoughts of sex and looked at his son. "Sorry Henry but your mommy is so pretty I can't help but look at her."
Blair smiled as she approached the two of them. "You're ever the charmer Bass." She leaned down kissing him on the lips.
Henry covered his eyes. "Eww! Yuck."
Chuck laughed softly at his son. He then noticed Henry wearing Blair's Christmas present around his neck. It was a diamond and pearl necklace set in platinum. He had had Cartier custom make it for her.
"Blair what is our son wearing around his neck?"
She was about to respond when Henry piped up. "It's Mommy's necklace. I'm keeping it safe for her."
Blair shrugged at Chuck's look of disbelief. "What? You weren't here and I had to keep him distracted while I had my hair done."
Chuck shook his head. Only his wife would use a hundred thousand dollar necklace to keep a three year old entertained.
She reached down and picked up Henry from Chuck's embrace. "You need to get ready."
Chuck left them to take a quick shower while Blair headed into the dressing room. By the time Chuck was out and had joined them Blair was dressed.
She removed the necklace from Henry's neck placing it around her own.
He looked her over from head to toe. "You look gorgeous."
"Thank you," she said as she reached out picking up her bottle of pure Chanel No. 5 perfume. She carefully unscrewed the stopper and gently dabbed the scent behind her ears, on each wrist and to the back of each knee.
Henry was watching her taking it all in. "Mommy you smell nice."
Blair smiled down at her son as Chuck wrapped an arm around her waist. "You smell very nice," he whispered against her ear before kissing her neck gently.
There was a knock on the dressing room door. They turned to see Dorota standing there looking flushed. "Sorry to bother you Miss Blair but chef wants to confirm few things with you."
Blair glanced at the clock. The party was starting in twenty minutes. "Couldn't he have discussed this with me earlier?"
Dorota rolled her eyes. "He's being difficult."
Blair sighed looking at Chuck. "Can I leave Henry here with you?"
He nodded. "Yes of course. Go."
Blair followed Dorota out of the room leaving Henry and Chuck alone.
Chuck grabbed the comb from his dresser running it through his damp hair.
Henry, who was standing right beside him watching his father's every move, ran a hand over his own brown locks. "Daddy, can you comb my hair too?"
"Of course," Chuck nodded reaching out running the comb through his son's hair. He sat Henry on the chaise and handed him the comb. "You keep fixing your hair while Daddy gets dress okay?"
Henry nodded as he started to comb his own hair. Chuck dropped his towel and entered the walk in closet to dress.
Henry became bored with combing his hair after about a minute. "Daddy my hair is all done," he called to his father.
"Come in here by Daddy then," Chuck responded.
Henry slid off the chaise and was heading to the closet when he saw his favorite book "Peter Rabbit" sitting atop his mother's dresser. He pushed the small step stool over to it and climbed on top of it so he could reach his book.
"Hen what are you doing?" Chuck peeked around the corner as he buttoned his shirt.
Henry was flipping through his book. "Reading Peter Rabbit Daddy."
Chuck smiled as he returned to the closet to pick out a tie. Henry, bored with Peter and Mr. McGregor, spied his mother's bottle of perfume. He decided that he too wanted to smell as good as his mother. Reaching out with his little hands he grabbed the bottle and twisted the stopper off just as his mother had done. He placed his finger over the opening and tilted the bottle in the same way he had seen his mother do it.
Suddenly there was perfume flowing over his finger and down the front of him. Henry quickly turned the bottle upright but not before dousing himself in half the bottle.
"Oops," he whispered as he placed the bottle back on top of the dresser. He rubbed the front of his shirt with his finger and then dabbed behind each ear.
Chuck at that exact moment came around the corner and was assaulted by the overwhelming scent of Chanel No. 5. "What the hell?" He stared at his son who turned to him and shrugged.
"I had an accident." There were tears welling up in his eyes.
Chuck rushed over. His immediate concern was that Henry had swallowed the perfume. "Hen, did you drink that?"
Henry shook his head. "I wanted to smell like Mommy so I put some on."
Chuck looked down at his son who was now sporting a huge stain on the front of his custom made dress shirt. He realized Blair was going to kill him. He picked Henry up removing him from the stool and setting him on the floor.
He then grabbed the bath towel he had discarded earlier from the floor and began to use it to wipe the top of the dresser off. He recapped the bottle noticing that it was now nearly empty.
"Fuck," he mumbled under his breath.
Henry never having heard that word or tone from his father before began to cry. "Are you mad at me Daddy?"
Chuck turned to face his son. "No I'm not mad. I am disappointed though. You know not to touch Mommy and Daddy's things without permission."
Henry nodded his head as he wiped his eyes. "Sorry Daddy."
Chuck sighed reaching down and lifting his son into his arms. He kissed him and left the dressing room. He knew he had to get Henry cleaned up before Blair came back into the room.
Unfortunately he was too late as they exited the dressing room Blair entered the bedroom.
"Oh my goodness! What happened?" She recognized the overwhelming smell of her signature scent.
Chuck shrugged. "Henry may have gotten into your perfume."
Blair placed her hands on her hips. "May have? Where were you? Why weren't you watching him?"
Chuck immediately went on the defensive. "I was getting dressed and he was reading his book."
Blair crossed over to them and took Henry from Chuck, holding him out from her so she didn't transfer anymore of the scent onto herself. She placed him on his feet taking his hand.
"Come on let's find Jessica so she can get you bathed and changed."
Henry shook his head. "I don't want another bath."
"You should've thought of that before playing with Mommy's perfume." She led him out of the room.
Chuck sighed as he watched them leave and silently tied his tie.
Two hours later and the party was in full swing. Everyone was having an amazing time. Dan and Serena were happy and clearly in love. Henry who had been bathed and redressed was busy helping to get drinks for his grandparents.
Eleanor beamed as he brought over her martini walking carefully.
Just as Henry was about to hand it to her he spilt a good portion of it. "Fuck," he said as he looked at the puddle on the floor.
Blair, who was standing in the group along with Lily, Cyrus and Serena, gasped, "Henry Charles Bass we do not use that word." She reached out taking the glass from him and handed it to her mother who looked shocked. "Where did you learn that?" She bent over looking at him.
Henry glanced over to where his father was standing talking to Uncle Nate. "Daddy."
Serena tried to suppress a smile. "That's no surprise."
Blair took his hand. "That is a terrible word and Daddy shouldn't have used it. You are never, ever to say it again. Do you understand me?"
He nodded. "Is Daddy going to be in trouble?"
Blair straightened up. "Don't worry about Daddy. I think it's time for bed. Say good night to everyone and Jessica will take you upstairs."
Henry gave hugs to his grandparents and his aunt before making the rounds to everyone else.
Eleanor stared at her daughter. Blair felt her mother's disapproving gaze and turned her head to look at her. "What?"
"That's all the punishment he's going to get?" Eleanor raised her eyebrows at her.
Cyrus put an arm around Eleanor's waist. "He didn't know what he was saying."
"They spoil him. He'll have a mouth like a sailor before he's five."
Blair forced a smile. "Well when that day comes Mother you'll be able to say you were right. Think of how much pleasure that will give you." She excused herself and crossed the room to speak to some other guests while her mother shook her head at her.
By the time the party was over and Chuck and Blair had retired to their bedroom it was well past midnight. They prepared for bed as they discussed the party and the various guests.
"By the way Charles your son used an interesting word tonight, in front of my mother no less." She pulled back the duvet and sheet looking at her husband across the expanse of the bed.
"Really? What was it? Potty talk again." Chuck slid into bed arranging his pillows.
"No it was the word fuck and he seems to be under the impression that he heard it from you." Blair didn't take her eyes off of him as she got into bed beside him.
Chuck searched his brain trying to remember when he had used that word in front of his son and then he remembered earlier while cleaning up the spilled perfume. "Damn, it did slip out but I didn't think he heard me."
Blair sighed as she lay back onto her pillows. "My mother was disapproving as always so thank you for that." She reached over and switched off her light. The smell of Chanel No. 5 was still overpowering in the room. "And to think I was going to let you put a baby inside me tonight."
They had decided to have a second child. Blair had been off the pill for the past two months and they had just started seriously trying.
"We clearly have no business having another child when we're incapable of taking care of the one we already have." She arranged the sheet across her chest.
Chuck turned his light off and rolled onto his side facing her. He reached out running a hand down her bare arm. "I think our child is amazing and our next one will be just as perfect." He slipped his hand under the sheet and put his arm around her waist as he pulled her towards him.
Blair squealed. "What are you doing?"
He started to kiss her. "I'm, how did you say it, putting a baby inside you?" He kissed her again a bit more passionately as his hand trailed up her stomach to cup her breast through her nightgown.
And twenty minutes later he did just that.
Later at Serena and Dan's wedding Blair and Chuck smiled secretly at each other knowing that six weeks prior under the overwhelming scent of Chanel No. 5 they had conceived their daughter and they couldn't be happier about it.
