~Family Reunion: Pt1~

Senshi was floating around the living room, exercising his wings with the help of Diane as she wasn't working on any plans with Emiko, as both Yokai girls were encouraging Senshi to continue flying and exercising his wings, to strengthen them, and make them grow, but for some reason, he's been keeping his eyes covered with a pair of sunglasses since Erma's last birthday party, so it's been months since they'd actually last seen his eyes. When Senshi was half way through his exercises, there was a knock on the door, and Emiko went to answer it, with Senshi and Erma following. When she opened the door, the trio saw a bird monster standing on their porch.

"H-h-hello there, m-m-ma'am." The bird monster said, tipping his hat to Emiko. "I-I have a message for you coming from the y-y-yokai district." He exclaimed before sticking his beak into the bag on his person.

"Oh… I'm sorry sir, but I think you might have the wrong addr…"

"HERE." He squawked, giving her a rolled up scroll. "The monster world, p-p-postal service thanks you for using us, m-ma'am."

With that, the bird monster took off, before swooping down across the street and snatching up one of the neighbor's dogs, and eating it for a snack, as Emiko opened the scroll and began reading it, a worried look crossing her face, as Sam came out.

"Hey you three, what's going on?" Sam questioned, before Emiko handed him the scroll. After reading it, Sam became worried to, leaving Erma and Senshi baffled at what could have the adults so worried like that.

~Later~

"I don't trust it, I don't trust it at all." Emiko said.

"But the letter's from your sister right? Isn't she the one out of them you could trust?" Sam inquired.

"He could've easily manipulated it. He's done it before." Emiko said.

Senshi and Erma were supposed to be in the living room, watching Warrior Unicorn Princess with Diane, but instead they snuck away from the human sized giantess, and were listening on what Emiko and Sam were arguing about.

"Then again, the letter does have her snarkiness. Not even, he, could replicate that." Emiko said.

"So does that mean you might consider going to this?" Sam questioned.

"Are you?" Emiko asked. "You do remember the last time we've dealt with my side of the family right?"

"Yeah, but I don't know. A family reunion? Doesn't sound too suspicious. Haven't you told me this is a yearly thing they do around this time?" Sam questioned.

"It is, but something doesn't add up, why now? We haven't heard anything from them until recently." Emiko said.

"Look, if you're worried about him, then…"

"It's not him, I'm specifically worried about." Emiko said. "What is he going to do, if he sees you and Erma? We've never had a part of the family that was remotely human. What about Senshi, how will he respond to seeing him? My father and the Demon King have been hated rivals for centuries."

"Well, my side of the family's never had a side that's ever been remotely close to ghost either." Sam said. "Or demon/fairy for that matter."

"But my relatives aren't as open minded as yours." Emiko said. "Plus they're not hesitant about murder or torture. Even if I do consider going, I wouldn't even think about bringing you or Erma along. Not even Senshi. I don't want to imagine what would happen to you all if I did bring you."

"Emiko, we made a promise a long time ago, remember? That, we'd face this together." Sam said, taking his wife's hands. "If we keep hiding from them, things will most likely get worse, if they end up coming looking for us. An' I think Erma at least deserves to know a little more about them, than what she learned in that book Merlin let her borrow for her genealogy project."

There was a moment of pause before Emiko sighed, and looked Sam right in the eye. "I'm not fully on board with this… but you're right. We might as well get this over with, we'll go."

"You know we're gonna have to tell Erma about this sometime soon right?" Sam asked. "Senshi to."

"Why not now? They should still be up with Diane." Emiko said, walking to the door.

Senshi grabbed Erma's arm, and as fast, and silent as he could, raced down the hall, down the stairs, and back into the living room, sitting beside Diane, who never noticed that they left. A moment later Emiko and Sam came down the stairs.

"Hey Emiko, Sam." Diane said. "Did you know this show is a lot more violent than the toy commercials would have you believe?"

"We did." Sam chuckled. "Hey Diane, would you mind giving Emiko and I a minute to talk with Erma and Senshi?"

"Sure, Saphira and Siris need to be walked anyways." Diane said, getting up and grabbing Siris and Saphira's leashes.

When she was gone, Emiko sat on the couch between Erma and Senshi, while Senshi sat on the couch.

"Erma, Senshi, we need to talk." Emiko said, putting her hands on their shoulders.

"Should I go with Aunt Diane for this?" Senshi inquired.

"No buddy, you need to be here for this to." Sam said.

"So next week, we're going to go meet some family." Emiko said. "But it won't be Granny Pema, or Uncle Mikey this time. Erma, instead we're gonna be… visiting your Grandpa Osamu in Japan."

Emiko was surprised to see her daughter's face light up like a Christmas tree, seeming excited for meeting some new family.

"That doesn't sound too bad." Senshi exclaimed.

"I think we should explain to them why we're going." Sam exclaimed.

"Right, well. Erma, as you know, you and I come from a line of spirits and demons called Yokai. Well around this time of year, Yokai come together for a one night parade throughout Japan. A parade with singing and dancing." Emiko explained, only getting excited clapping from her daughter in response.

"That actually sounds real fun." Senshi smiled.

"A-anyways." Emiko began. "We're gonna first be picked up by my sister Yori, Erma's aunt. After that, she'll take us to the yokai realm, where we'll meet up with everyone else. But when we go there, I want you both to stick by our sides, no matter what. Always stick close to Sam and I at all times. Not all Yokai are friendly, so we want to make sure you don't get lost in the parade. There's no telling who might be showing up to this." Emiko explained.

"So, what does this have to do with me?" Senshi asked.

"Well Senshi, my father, and the Demon King, your ancestor, aren't really the best of friends. I'd even go so far as to say, they're hated enemies, worse than his relationship with the Queen of the Goddesses." Emiko explained. "My father, is a very complicated yokai, and he's not someone you can easily make casual conversation with. In fact, there's a good chance he might try and eliminate you, if he hears anything about you being the descendent of his worst enemy."

"Oh." Senshi said. "That bad huh?"

"Yes. So for our sake, please stay by our sides, no matter what." Emiko said, cupping his cheek in her hand. "You're a valued member of this family, and given how things are between you and Erma, I'd say it's safe to assume you'll become closer to our family in the future. So please, try and follow our rules."

"I'll try my best." Senshi said. "But you know how trouble tends to follow me like a moth to a flame." He chuckled, pulling two bullets out from under his shirt, on a thin chain around his neck. "These are a reminder of that."

"Did Ban have to turn those into a necklace?" Sam groaned, causing Emiko to laugh.

"But seriously, I promise I'll try not to get into trouble." Senshi exclaimed.

"Thank you." Emiko smiled.

~The Following Week~

It was beautiful weather, as the plane flew high in the sky. Emiko was looking out the window with Erma and Sam sitting in the same row of seats as her, with Senshi sitting in the one right across the lane, sound asleep, after having drank the complimentary free drink, and put his mask and neck pillow on, with his I-Pod Touch, playing his lullaby mix on shuffle. People were looking at them weirdly, but that didn't seem to bother the group of four, as they were used to it. Erma was playing with a doll she had been allowed to carry on, but looking at her mom, she got a bit concerned, and tugged on her dad's arm.

"Hmm? Yes Erma?" Sam asked, before Erma motioned to Emiko, and got what she was asking. "Oh don't worry about her. Your mom's just nervous about this trip that's all." Sam said.

"I thought I told you dear… I AM NOT NERVOUS." Emiko said, her face going monstrous, before she noticed that all the passengers who could see her, minus Senshi as he was fast asleep, reeled back in terror, even Sam and Erma, who was hugging her father like mad. Emiko sighed, and realized that she messed up, and calmed herself down, and reached her arms out to come hug her. "I'm sorry Erma. I… guess I am a bit nervous. It's been a while since your grandpa and I have seen each other. The last time we did, we got into an argument. An' it didn't end so well… Speaking of ending well… I hope Felicia's doing okay with Diane, Siris, and Saphira. We kind of had her watch them with Diane at the last minute."

"I'm sure they'll be just fine."

~Diane and Felicia~

"AAAAH." Felicia cried out, tugging hard on Siris and Saphira's leashes. "C'mon you two, just cooperate with me." She exclaimed before panting in exhaustion. "This walk was your idea, you know?"

"You just gotta be a little more forceful with them, like me." Diane said, taking the leashes from Felicia, before spinning the pets around like a lasso and throwing them in the direction of the house. "See? Problem solved."

"You do realize Saphira isn't undead like Siris." Felicia exclaimed in horror.

"Don't worry, Saphira can take this, no problem. Nothing can penetrate her scales." Diane smiled.

~Japanese Airport~

"Huh, this isn't right." Emiko said, walking in the airport with Erma, Sam, and Senshi.

"Something wrong?" Sam asked.

"I'm pretty sure we're supposed to meet Yori right here." Emiko said.

As the two adults were talking, Erma noticed a sudden absence in her hand, and looked down to see her doll was gone. Senshi followed her gaze, before they both were turning their heads like crazy, looking to see if Erma dropped it, before they spotted a pair of twins, with devilish smiles on their faces, one of them holding Erma's doll, and the other one had Senshi's drumstick, before they disappeared in mist that came out of nowhere.

"Well that's just perfect." Senshi groaned. "We just got here, and trouble has already found us."

With the Yokai twins, they were laughing and chuckling at themselves for having thought themselves sneaky enough to get away with it.

*Is this seriously what that girl plays with? Look at this thing, it's all busted up. At least you snagged something cool from that boy.* One of the twins said.

*Who cares? Did you see the looks on their faces when we snatched them?* The other girl asked.

*Oh you know I did. So terrified, so pathetic, classic.*

*Exactly. I'd say that's a win in my book. Now let's throw this thing away and check the cafeteria before, 'you know who' finds us. There's gotta be some suckers there.*

*You're not throwing away the drumstick?*

*Nah, I think it's kinda cool.* She smiled, before the drumstick and doll flew out of their hands, and to Senshi and Erma, who both looked kinda crossed.

*Now that isn't very nice. Didn't you mother teach you it's not right to steal?* Senshi questioned, giving Erma's doll to her, and surprising them that he knew how to speak perfect Japanese.

*Neither of you are human, are you?* One of the twins asked.

*I got this.* The other said, before turning into a storm of petals.

Just as she reached to grab the doll and drumstick, she backed up and jumped back, when the drumstick turned into a storm of kunai like blades that were being controlled by the boy they'd pissed off, as two of them, had been pointed right at her, where her eyes would have been located, and gouged out if she hadn't backed up when she did.

*Spirit Spear Chastiefol: Fifth Configuration: Increase.* Senshi said, pointing the blades at the twins. *Make a move, and I'll see you regret it.*

*If I had known the drumstick could turn into a weapon that awesome, I'd have held a tighter grip to it.* The twin who had Senshi's weapon, smiled.

*MITSU. MOMO.* A woman's voice echoed through the airport, causing the twins to freeze. Hearing that voice and seeing the two freeze up, Senshi reverted his Sacred Treasure back to its base form, as a drumstick, and twirled it in his fingers, as the woman came up behind him and her head suddenly sprung out to eye level with the twins, her neck really long. *What is going on here?* She questioned, before turning her head to look at Erma and Senshi with a quizzical look on her face.

*They stole stuff from us, and we were just getting them back.* Senshi explained, before Mitsu or Momo could tell their mother a lie.

*Seriously, of all the times to be doing this.* She groaned, looking at her daughters, before she realized something. *Wait a minute… Freaky monster hair, and a pair of fairy wings?* She turned back to get a closer look at Erma and Senshi, making Erma feel a bit uncomfortable. *Say, you two wouldn't happen to be Erma and Senshi, would you?*

*That would be us yes.* Senshi confirmed.

"An' your mother's name is Emiko?" The Yokai woman asked Erma, maneuvering her body around the two, and retracting her neck in, to which Erma nodded yes to the question. "Oh my…" She said, feeling a bit nostalgic.

"Wait, huh?" Mitsu was confused.

"Why are we speaking English now?" Momo inquired.

"I'm sorry it's just that, you look so much like your mother. The same hair, the same dress. It's kind of scary how much you two look alike, actually." She exclaimed.

"Uh… mom?" Momo was confused.

"Mind clueing us in on what's happening?" Mitsu inquired.

"Right this may be awkward, my bad." She exclaimed, waving her hands in apology. "My name is Yori Yureimoto. I'm your aunt, Erma." Yori said, taking Erma by surprise. "An' from what your mother says about you and this boy, his future aunt-in-law."

"Wait a minute. Did she say Aunt?" Mitsu questioned.

"Then you mean to tell me?" Momo included.

"That's our cousin?" Mitsu and Momo questioned at the same time.

"Judging by how you handled my two little gremlins young man, I'd say you're not the violent type." Yori said.

"Not really no. I only fight when I have to." Senshi said, with a bit of a blush.

"An' your Japanese is impressive, I couldn't tell you were a foreigner." Yori said.

"I was actually born in Japan. My mom just took me to the states with her when she could afford to." Senshi exclaimed.

"Well, I welcome you back home then." Yori snickered, before turning to her twins. "C'mon you two, come meet your cousin and her boyfriend…"

"ERMA SENSHI." Emiko's voice echoed through the airport. The duo of kids turned around to see her running towards them with Sam close behind. "Oh thank goodness, I almost had a heart attack looking for you both."

"I'm pretty sure it's not possible for you specifically to have a heart attack honey." Sam said, wheeling their luggage behind him.

"I thought I said to stay cl…" Emiko stopped when she saw who was with Erma and Senshi.

"Well, look who it is, Little Emiko." Yori smiled. "I figured these little monsters belonged to you. Sorry I was late. I had to find my… um… Emiko, are you okay?"

Emiko didn't answer verbally, she just went in and pulled Yori in for a hug.

"Sorry… it's just… I mean…" Emiko couldn't get the words out.

"Yeah, it's been a while. It's good to finally see you again." Yori smiled, hugging Emiko back, as the people started to clap.

The clapping got Sam confused as he didn't think the sight of Yokai being in public like this would have been something to be seen every day.
