Authors Note: In response to the NUMEROUS Anti Stark/North/Tyrion fanfics, the ones who pretty much worship everything to do with the Targaryen. Warning, this will likely be a substandard fic, but at this point I will take it to counter the sheer amount of Anti Stark/Sam/Tyrion/North, pretty much anti anyone who even GLANCES at Dany/Rhaegar wrong.
Read and enjoy at your own risk!
The Trope: Sam manipulated Jon to turn him against Dany.
OK WTF? WHY do people think this? All he did was say the truth to Jon, what was he supposed to do? Lie? Yes they were oathbreakers, yes Randall was a scumbag and bastard for a father, but...BURNING them? Like the Mad King did?
Sam stood in front of Jon after the news he gave...
Jon stared at the fire...and looked up "how are you feeling Sam?"
Sam sat down, sighing "...I don't know what to feel. My Father...he was a cruel man, he threatened to kill me...but...what is my mother feeling? My Sister? My Brother was a kind lad...a fool to follow Father. But Kind."
His friend stood and paced the room "it's true then. She BURNED them?"
Sam nodded "she said it right to my face."
"She's the Queen Sam. Your Family were oathbreakers."
Face heating up, Sam said "yes I know that! I'm not dumb enough to ignore that Jon. But...BURNING them?! They could have been captured, used as hostage, maybe executed in a way that doesn't replicate what her father did!"
Having no answer to that, Jon sat heavily down...face filled with worry.
A Targareyn burning alive a High Lord and his Heir.
Where had the Seven Kingdoms heard that before?
So yes, I DO NOT think Sam was 'manipulating' Jon...they were his family, how else is he supposed to react?! He's not really mourning his Father, he's mourning how his mother and Talla are gonna react to this news.
And FYI, if you want to execute traitors? Maybe don't do it in a way that would make Daddy beam with pride from the grave.
