The Trope: Ned Stark is a shit and god awful excuse of a brother who failed Lyanna for 'demanding' her to be betrothed to Robert

Shoutout to Anshsingh for this idea that apparently Ned is a horrible brother who hates his entire family and loved Robert more then any of them.

Like WTF, we've SEEN numerous times that Ned LOVED his whole family and put his family over his honor, like with protecting Jon and lying at the Sept of Baelor to save Sansa.

And the fact of the matter is RICKARD is the one who had the final say to who Lyanna is betrothed to as Head of House Stark. So if anything she would be angry at HIM, not Ned who in Anshsingh's fic she apparently disowns for whatever reason.

"Love is sweet dearest Ned, but it cannot change a man's nature."

Ned stared at his sister "it doesn't matter what I think Lya."

His sister stared at him, not expecting THAT response.

"Father is the one who is pushing the betrothal, if you need to convince ANYONE. It's him."

Lyanna huffed "YOUR the one who spoke up for your 'Beloved' Baratheon."

Ned huffed himself "if you truly think I would let Robert mistreat you in any form your only deluding yourself."

"DELU-"

He continued over Lyanna's outraged expression, her nose flaring up as her temper rose "if he slept with even a SINGLE whore when you and he are married, Brandon would charge South, march righ tinto Storms End and give him a thrashing, you know he would. By the Gods, Father would probably rally the damn North itself!"

Ned stood and looked at his sister "I love you Sister, I truly do...and I swear I'll talk with Robert when we go down for the Tournament at Harrenhall. I love him yes, but your my blood and my family. And I also swear...if he mistreats you in ANY form, he'll answer to me."

Lyanna stared, her mouth tight...then softened "I love you too Ned...alright for YOU I'll think on it, but no promises."

Gently kissing her forehead, Ned said "just think on it Lya."

With that the Siblings returned to the Main Hall, to discuss with their Father the upcoming trip down South.

If Robert mistreated or even LOOKED at a whore it would have been a race between Rickard, Brandon, and Ned to go to Storms End to remove Robert's Head and likely not the one on his damn SHOULDERS! And Robert had his flaws and vices...but I think he would for Ned's sake try to reign himself in...not sure if it would have been successful, but the effort would have happened.

But Lyanna DISOWNING Ned for the bethrothal? Lyanna and Ned LOVED each other, and Ned chose Lyanna over Robert every day that he kept Jon safe despite what some fanatics think.
