Panda Bear-Hahaha, that's awesome! I never thought of that. I can totally imagine Crutchy going crazy like that though.

MinnieG-Awwww, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my writing that much. By the way, I have the first chapter of your story almost done and ready to be posted.

Laura and Carey were both having bad days. Laura had twisted her ankle the day before and was currently laid up on the couch, in large amounts of pain. Carey had been stuck running around like a headless chicken because of this. On top of that, it felt like 100 degrees outside and both girls were sweltering hot; so they were both in very bad moods.
"Heya goirls. Da sun is out and it's a lovely day!" Blink chirped cheerfully as he entered the girl's sitting room. Carey snorted and threw a pillow in his direction, not bothering to look up from her sewing. Laura hmfff'ed and crossed her arms, glaring at her boyfriend. "Or not."
"Hiya friends. It's a lovely day." Crutchy walked in cheerfully, a grin stretching from ear to ear.
"No it ain't," Blink promptly informed him, trying and failing to look somber. "Dey're both in da bad mood today."
Crutchy looked thoughtful. "Youse know wat cheers up a grumpy-pants? Dis!" He picked the pillow up off the floor and threw it at his cousin. Laura grabbed it and tossed it back with another hmfff. She turned her back towards them and stared out the window. Crutchy looked at Blink; Blink lifted his hands hands up and Crutchy shrugged, a frown crossing his face. "Dat always woirked when we was younger."
Blink's eyes suddenly lit up as he got an idea. He ran into the kitchen and grabbed a chair. Setting it in the middle of the room, he grabbed Laura's violin-which was sitting near her on the couch-and climbed up on the chair. Starting to play a song, he began to dance around on the chair. Crutchy laughed and joined in, twirling around the chair as best he could. Well, they tried to dance. They were both so terrible that the following attempt was comical. Unfortunately for them, neither girl was paying any attention-Carey because she was too busy sewing and Laura because she was facing away from them. When neither girl reacted, the boys stopped and sighed in frustration. Setting the instrument down, Blink jumped off the chair. He grabbed Carey's sewing from her hands, took two steps to the couch, and turned Laura's head to face him.
"Wat's wrong? Why are youse two so grumpy?"
"I have extra work to do because of Laura's hurt ankle," Carey replied. "Now if you will kindly give it back..."
Blink tossed the sewing back and knelt beside the couch. "Laura? What is it?"
Laura stared at him for a minute before letting loose with a flood of sign language. "It's too hot out to do anything, I've been sitting on this couch for a day because I can't walk, and my foot hurts. I'm tired of sitting here but I can't get around and I don't want to wait for a week to do anything useful!" With that, she crossed her arms again and blew out a breath, a lone tear escaping her eye. Blink sat back on his heels and thought. Crutchy, sitting backwards on the chair, suddenly got an idea.
"Dat's it!" he shouted. Carey jumped in surprise and Blink fell on his rear. Everyone looked at him as he fell off the chair. He scrambled to his feet, dusting off his backside and blushing. "Ise meant ta do dat. Ise imagined it ta be more graceful den dat..." He trailed off, ducking his head in embarrassment.
"What's it?" asked Carey.
"Wat?" Crutchy looked confused.
"Wat was your idea?" Blink prompted.
"Wat idea?"
"The one you had before falling off the chair?" Laura looked pointedly at her cousin, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
"Oh, dat idea."
"Yes, that one." Carey allowed a small smile to cross her lips. She looked at Crutchy, half amused and half annoyed that her work was being interrupted.
"Wat if us boys helped youse goirls wit your work and den we all go to Tibby's for some cola?"
Laura and Carey looked at each other, amusement dancing in their eyes. "You think you can sew a dress?" Laura questioned them.
"Or fix a button?" Carey raised an eyebrow.
"Or properly clean a sheet?"
"Or darn a sock or..."
"Don't make us take back our offer," Crutchy interrupted, wagging a finger at his girlfriend.
"Our offer?" Blink promptly interrupted him, mock glaring at his friend. "Dat was your offer."
Laura smiled, swinging herself to a sitting position. "Are you afraid of being caught doing woman's work?"
"I ain't afraid of nothin'!"
"Then I challenge you to learn to sew a dress."
Carey's eyes lit up. "You can be like Tom and Warren Woodlawn!"
The boys looked confused. "Who's dat?"
"Never mind. Just come here and help me fix this seam."
That afternoon was the most interesting experience for everyone involved. Crutchy learned how to fix a seam, Blink learned how to properly sew buttons on clothes, they both learned how to massage an ankle so it didn't hurt, and the girls got all their work done. That evening, the boys managed to fashion a useable crutch out of some branches of a nearby tree and took the girls out for ice cream and cola. All four young people fell asleep that night in great moods-the boys happy they had cheered up their girlfriends and the girls thanking God for their sweet boyfriends.
