Thought I'd update my one shot series. I am and continue to be hopeful for Klaroline, regardless of anything else. Thank you for the reviews, guys! You're awesome!
4x17 AU. No Silas.
But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find
Forbes House – After the Death of the Twelve Witches...
Caroline couldn't quite shake what had gone on tonight as she walked into her house. Did she actually just kill twelve witches while helping her best friend? It was so surreal, considering that Caroline herself hadn't exactly been innocent in the whole thing. When she was first turned, she had been uncontrollable and a poor hiker had perished because of it, as well as a nurse and a carnival worker. When those witches died, it felt like those three murders all over, only far worse.
She forced herself to calm as she went to the cooler that contained some fresh blood bags, taking one out and opening it, drinking it slowly in spite of the panic she was in. As she drank, she wondered if everything would be better if she just took the chance and turned off her humanity. Tempting as it was, Caroline told herself that it wouldn't be worth it and that she'd just turn out to be a monster that didn't give a shit about anyone or anything, just like Elena had been when she sabotaged the competition and then threatened to kill her mother.
Caroline was still drinking from the blood bag when a knock came at the door. Scowling in curiosity, she went to see who it was, even though the face in the window told her who it was, as well as the familiar energy she was sensing. Upon the door, she saw that it was Klaus, confirming what she already guessed.
She was about to ask what he was doing here, but never got her question out because he held up his hand and said, "I know that I said a pretty harsh thing to you in the woods and I wanted to come by to personally apologize."
"Apologize?" said Caroline. "Apologize for what? You made it perfectly clear that you didn't want to comfort me when I was trying to figure out just what the hell happened."
"It was obvious what happened tonight," said Klaus. "You unknowingly helped your friend kill twelve witches when you should've stayed put when I told you to."
Caroline sighed. "Okay, first you show up here saying that you want to apologize and then, you do a complete 180 and throw what I did in my face. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?"
She immediately regretted that, because Klaus grabbed her hand and pulled her outside with him, shoving her against the wall. "You ask me what the hell is wrong with me when you know damn well what it is. You told me that you knew that I was in love with you, even if it was just a throw away statement to get me to give you my blood. Well, you weren't wrong in saying that. I do care about you deeply, which was why I didn't want you to kill those witches. Don't you get it, Caroline? I care about what happens to you!"
Before Caroline could answer him, he captured her lips with his in a rough yet passionate kiss. She returned it, wrapping her arms around his neck and running her fingers through his curls, not caring that she still had blood on her lips from the blood bag she had been drinking before he showed up at her door.
A few minutes passed before they finally broke their kiss, Klaus reluctantly stepping back to give Caroline room to breathe. There was a silence between them, neither one of them saying a word as blue eyes met greenish blue, fearing that if they said anything, the world would collapse around them, even though it sort of did with that moment they shared, figuratively speaking.
Note: Another short one, I know, but I couldn't think of anything else to put here. Enjoy, lovelies, and keep the Klaroline faith!
