Nothing special today, lovelies, I just thought I'd update my one shot series. I can't think of an episode to base it on, so this will be another random AU. Thank you for the reviews! You're amazing!

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

Caroline sighed as she stepped into the shower and let the water cascade down her face and body. She was exhausted, even though she didn't quite know why, and just wanted to put it all behind her. She wanted to blame it on the fact that she had had it up to here with always being the second choice. Of course, that was such a flimsy excuse now, so she decided against using it. So, what could be the reason? Sighing again, Caroline shut off the water and stepped out of the shower, towel drying her hair before putting her pajamas on and exiting her bathroom. Upon entering her bedroom, she gasped as she saw that she wasn't alone, for sitting on her bed was Klaus, looking at her with those greenish blue eyes of his, which seemed to pierce right through to her soul.

"Klaus, what the hell are you doing here? I'm about to go to bed. I really don't want to deal with you right now."

Klaus didn't answer her right away, just continued to look at her, obviously liking what he was seeing. Finally, he said, "I sensed that you were troubled about something, and I came to see what it was. Normally, I wouldn't have been that concerned, but with you, I always make an exception."

Caroline gave him a curious look. What the hell was he talking about? "I really don't know what you're talking about."

"Yes, you do, or I wouldn't be here."

Caroline then knew why he was here: he sensed that she was confused about why she was suddenly exhausted. How the hell did he know that? Then again, he was an Original and Originals seemed to know everything there was to know about everything and everyone.

"Honestly? Something is bothering me and I'm not sure why," she replied, hoping that this would appease him. "I've been trying to figure it out, and yet, I'm coming up with nothing."

"You feel alone, even though you have friends and family around you."

His words surprised her. In a way, he was right. Despite the fact that she had her friends and family surrounding her, Caroline did feel like she was alone. Even when she was still human, she felt that way. She wanted to deny it, but something told her that it wouldn't do her any good.

"You're absolutely right, Klaus. I do feel alone," said Caroline. "In fact, I've felt that way ever since I was still human. I was never anyone's first choice, I was always the second. None of the guys I wanted ever wanted me."

Klaus stood up and went over to her, pulling her into his arms and running his fingers through her hair. He knew exactly what she felt, having been alone for centuries. After over a thousand years of his immortal life, he had found someone who was going through what he had gone through, even if not for the same reasons. Still, he felt she was his equal in that respect. Didn't he tell her that they were the same?

"You don't have to feel that way anymore," he whispered. "To hell what everyone thought of you before, Caroline, because if they can see what I see in front of me, they'd think twice before judging you." He didn't let her answer as he led her over to the mirror, making her look at her reflection. "I see a beautiful, confident young woman who faces whatever comes her way, conquering it like a warrior in battle. That's the kind of person I know you are, Caroline, the kind of person you can be. The past is gone, and the future looks bright for you." He turned her around in his arms. "You can have the world at your feet, and I can give it to you. Just say the word and whatever you desire shall be yours."

Caroline smiled and kissed him softly and passionately before pulling away and looking into his eyes again. "Can I start with you?"

"Of course," said Klaus. "You're my first choice." He kissed her just as passionately and pulled back, whispering into against her lips, "You're my only choice."

Caroline smiled again and returned his kiss, deepening it just a little. He had no idea just how much she appreciated his words right now, and it made her forget about what had been bothering her before he showed up here tonight.

Note: Kind of short, I know, but I wanted to update. No TVD this week because of Thanksgiving, but there is a new episode of TO, which looks intense due to the previews. Anyway, enjoy, my lovelies, and have a great week! :)
