Hello, lovelies. I know that this is a little late, but mycutehamlet sent me a request to do a Klaroline Thanksgiving one shot, since she wasn't inspired by this week's TO. I'm going to fulfill it. I meant to write it last night, but I was too tired. Hopefully, I'll get it done tonight. Thank you for the reviews so far, everyone!

You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know, but you know
That you, can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark you'll surrender your heart
But you know, but you know
That you, can't fight the moonlight,
No you can't fight it
It's gonna get to your heart

Caroline glanced at the invitation in her hand. It was to a special Thanksgiving celebration that Klaus was throwing especially for them. She hadn't really celebrated Thanksgiving in quite a while, and to receive a special invitation from Klaus for one he was throwing was quite an honor to say the least, since she originally wasn't going to do anything.

Might as well go, she thought. Besides, it's either that or have a miserable holiday by myself.

Once she made up her mind, Caroline went to her closet to find what she could wear. She found a burgundy dress that reached to her knees, as well as a pair of black pumps. Once she was dressed, she fixed her hair and put on a little strawberry lip gloss. Truth be told, she looked fabulous, and she was pretty sure that Klaus would think so as well. Once she was ready, she grabbed her clutch purse and headed out to her car. Her host was eagerly awaiting her arrival and she didn't want to be a second late for whatever he had planned for them, knowing that it would be rude.

Mikaelson Mansion – Later...

When she arrived at the mansion, Caroline saw that every inch of the property was lined with lights – holiday lights, to be exact – bathing everything in a soft, white glow. He spared no expense, I see, she thought. Is there nothing this man can't do?

A smile on her face, she killed the engine, got out of the car, and proceeded into the mansion, where she saw that there holiday lights strung throughout the interior, from the foyer onward. Obviously, Klaus wanted to be prepared for tonight's event, so he made sure that everything was decorated for when Caroline arrived.

"I take it that everything is to the lady's liking?"

That familiar British accent startled her and the blonde vampire turned to see Klaus standing behind her, dressed in a blazer, white button-down shirt, and jeans. Suddenly, she felt a little embarrassed because she had gotten so guzzied up and he looked so casual.

"Yeah, I like it," she replied. "But, I think I'm slightly overdressed."

"Nonsense, love," said Klaus. "You're not overdressed, not in the least. In fact, you look beautiful."

"Are you sure?" said Caroline. "I could always go home and change."

"You will do no such thing," said Klaus. "As I said, you look beautiful." He offered her his arm. "Shall we head to the dining room then? I had the servants prepare a very special feast for us."

Caroline smiled. How could she possibly refuse that? She took his arm and let him escort her toward the dining room, where she saw a very elaborate feast all set out. There were all kinds of food on the table: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and even pumpkin pie, as well as few other desserts. Shit, this was too much for just the two of them.

"Klaus, not that I don't appreciate the effort you put in to all this, which I certainly do, but this is a lot of food for just two of us. Didn't you invite any other people to this?"

"No," he replied. "I wanted this to be a private Thanksgiving."

Caroline then remembered that the invitation that said something about it being a private celebration for two. I guess I didn't pay attention to that part, she thought. I just assumed that there were going to be more people here.

"Well, I guess there's nothing we can really do except to indulge in whatever is here," she said. "Then, I can take some leftovers home for my mom, because she's working tonight, which is no surprise."

Klaus nodded. He was just about to suggest that same thing, except she had beaten him to the punch. He'd say this for Caroline, she definitely didn't cease to amaze him. Just when he thought he learned everything there was to learn about her, she blew him out of the water with something new.

"Everything looks so good," said Caroline. "Where do you think we ought to start?"

Klaus smiled. "Simple, how about starting from the outside and working our way in?"

Caroline nodded. "Sounds good to me."

That being said, she took some turkey, mashed potatoes, a bit of cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, but decided to wait until later to sample the pumpkin pie. Everything tasted delicious, and she made a mental note to thank the servants for preparing such a feast.

Much Later...

Klaus carried a sleeping Caroline upstairs. She had fallen asleep at the table after dinner and he was about to let her drive home in her condition, or she'd get into an accident. True, she would heal herself, but his concern for her prompted him to let her spend the night.

Finding a spare room at the top of the stairs, he carried her inside, pulled back the covers of the bed, laying her down, and covering her with the quilt. He was about to walk away when he felt his hand being pulled and looked down to see that Caroline was slightly awake.

"Klaus?"

Klaus placed the index finger of his free hand on her lips to shush her. "Shhh, it's okay, love. You fell asleep after dinner and I wasn't about to let you drive home in your condition, so I thought it would be best if you spent the night."

Caroline nodded slowly, kissing his finger. "What about the leftovers for my mom?"

"I took the liberty of having them put in the refrigerator so that you can take them home with you in the morning."

"Thank you."

Klaus smiled. "You're welcome, love."

Caroline returned his smile and yawned, falling asleep again, loosening her grip on his hand. Klaus gently stroked her face with his finger, kissing her lips softly. "Happy Thanksgiving, Caroline."

Note: Like I said, this was a bit late, but I hope mycutehamlet likes what I've done. Happy Belated Thanksgiving, lovelies! :)
