Hello, my lovelies! I hope you're as excited as I am about the upcoming 100th episode of TVD! MY KLAROLINE FEELS! Anyway, I'm going to treat you guys to a new installment of "Eternal Flame," since I haven't updated in a while.
TO 1x10 AU.
I've waited all my life
To cross this line
To the only thing that's true
So I will not hide
It's time to try
Anything to be with you
All my life I've waited
This is true
The aftermath of what Davina had done still stung as Klaus walked through the streets. He had told Elijah and Marcel that he needed some time to think about what had happened. Though, to be quite honest, he didn't know why he told them, since it was obvious that they were doubting his ability to effectively lead. He wasn't entirely alone out here, since there were people walking around, but Klaus paid no attention to them. Suddenly, he was brought out of his reverie by a familiar scent. He tried to dismiss it, but it just kept getting stronger.
No, it can't be who I think it is, he thought. Why would she be here?
No sooner did he complete that thought than he turned around and saw Caroline standing there. "You took quite a risk coming here, love."
"I needed to get away, and well, I used your ticket to come to New Orleans." She saw that he wasn't exactly happy and raised an eyebrow. "What's the matter? I thought you'd be happy to see me."
"Oh, I am, don't get me wrong," said Klaus. "It's just that I had a very trying evening. I won't bore you with the details, but I will say that it still hurts."
Caroline nodded. She was still curious, but she decided not to force him to tell her anything. If he wanted to tell her, he'd do so when he was ready. There was a bit of a silence as they continued to look at each other until it became too much for them.
"Did you want to go somewhere more private? I don't like this crowd."
Klaus' suggestion brought a smile to her face and Caroline nodded, taking his hand as they vamp sped out of the Quarter.
When they arrived in a secluded part of the bayou, Klaus pinned Caroline against a tree, looking into her blue eyes with his greenish blue ones as they filled up with tears. Without a word, he then began to cry on her shoulder. Caroline held him close as he cried, rubbing his back consolingly.
"I guess you really did have a bad evening, huh?" she said. "Well, don't worry, I'm here for you."
"You have no idea how comforting that is to me." This reply came out in a bit of a sob.
Caroline smiled and lifted his chin, making him meet her gaze once more before kissing his lips softly and bringing him closer to her.
Note: Yeah, this one is a little short, but I couldn't think of anything else to put here. I will update "Stolen Moments" soon. I haven't been inspired lately, hence the reason it's on a hiatus, as well as "An Angel in the Devil's Court (this series' companion piece)," "To Sleep, Perchance to Dream," "Blood on the Moon," "Along for the Ride," and "Forbidden Fruit is Always the Sweetest." Expect updates on them shortly. Until then, enjoy your week and I look forward to the 100th episode of TVD!
