Okay, lovelies, I hope you were as appalled as I was at the way Klaus was treated in TO! And now we have to wait until the 25th to find out if he'll get rescued. Now that I've calmed down somewhat, I'm going to give you a Klaroline AU for "Eternal Flame."
TVD 5x12 AU.
Your love is like a river
Peaceful and deep
Your soul is like a secret
That I never could keep
When I look into your eyes
I know that it's true
God must have spent...
A little more time
On you...
(A little more time, yes he did baby)
Caroline left the Salvatore house following her talk with Stefan, heading back to her car. While talking with Stefan was comforting, it wasn't enough. She could still see Tyler's angry eyes, and hear his angry words. Though, what the hell gave him the right to be angry? He was the one who chose to walk away, so why he was so upset? They weren't together anymore, which meant she was free to do whatever she wanted.
Sighing, Caroline got to her car and just as she was about to get in, she felt herself getting grabbed from behind and struggled against the hand that covered her mouth, muffling her screams.
"Caroline, love, calm down. You know who this is."
The familiar British accent caused her to calm down. No, this couldn't be who she thought, could it? Once the hand over her mouth was removed, she turned around and saw Klaus standing before. What the hell?
"Klaus? What are you doing here? I thought you said you weren't coming back."
"I lied," he replied. "I heard about the way things went down at the party at the Lockwood mansion and I came to see if you were all right."
Caroline sighed. "Actually, I'm not all right. In fact, I'm...oh God, I can't think of the word to describe how I'm feeling right now. I thought talking to Stefan would make me feel better, but as you can see, it clearly didn't."
Klaus gestured toward her car. "Why don't we go for a drive and you can talk to me about it?"
Caroline scowled. "Seriously?"
"Seriously. Come on, love, it's obvious that you need to get what happened to you tonight out of your system, and I'm here to help, as always."
Seeing that she couldn't refuse him, Caroline climbed into the driver's seat, Klaus climbing into the passenger side, putting on his seat belt. Once they were inside, Caroline started the engine and they drove away from the Salvatore house, heading to God only knows where. A majority of the drive was spent in silence, neither of them speaking. Of course, what was she supposed to say? After all, she wasn't expecting this after their last encounter. Though, the thing she was expecting that Klaus wasn't being honest when he said he was leaving. What was the point in telling her that he was leaving if he was going to lie about it? Still, it was good to see him, especially after the shit she just went through.
Outside of Mystic Falls – Later...
Caroline pulled the car to a stop after driving for a good two hours, killing the engine and stepping out of the car, Klaus following half a beat later. Judging from the energy she was emitting, he'd say that she was still reeling from her ordeal at the party.
He gently grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks. "Caroline, talk to me. Tell me what happened."
"Tyler found out about us. I was talking to Elena and as Tyler was walking down the stairs, she blurted everything out so that he could hear it. He was pissed. I tried to explain myself and he nearly went hybrid on me."
"He had no right to be angry," said Klaus. "You said so yourself, he chose revenge over you, which meant he didn't respect you enough to stay in the relationship. So what if you had an indiscretion?"
"I know that," said Caroline. "But, I was...kind of hoping that you'd save me." She saw the look he was giving her. "I know, I know, you would have to ask Matt to invite you in since he owns the mansion now, but I still would've liked it if you stepped in and handled it."
"You pictured me in Stefan's place, didn't you?"
Caroline smiled slightly and nodded. "Yeah, I did."
Klaus pulled her into his arms and hugged her, running his fingers through her hair, closing his eyes as he inhaled the heavenly scent of sandalwood, honey, lavender, and roses. Even though it hadn't been that long since he last inhaled those scents, it was as though he were smelling them for the first time.
"Even though you lied to me, I'm still glad you're here."
"So am I, love," he replied. "I just wish I could take you back to New Orleans with me. You're obviously too good for this town. You are destined for great things, Caroline, and you will never achieve them if you stay here."
Caroline nodded, knowing he was right. Seriously, why was she wasting her time in a small town like Mystic Falls when she could be somewhere else, making something of herself? And she had all eternity to go to college. She was a vampire, time wasn't a factor anymore. And didn't he tell her that she would learn to alter her perception of time when he came to heal her on her birthday?
"You're not the only one who wished that," she said finally. "I should've asked you to take me with you when you left. I have all eternity to go to college. I can go as many times as I want, since I can't age, like the rest of them. Didn't you tell me when you healed me on my birthday that I would learn to alert my perception of time? Maybe that's it. Maybe I haven't learned to alter my perception of time. I've been a vampire for what, two years now?"
Klaus smiled. "Maybe that's because you haven't had the proper teacher to show you how."
"Are you volunteering?"
"Of course," said Klaus. "I've lived well over a thousand times, seen just about everything there is to see, so I would think that I am perfectly qualified to show you to alter your perception of time."
Caroline smiled at him and kissed him. "Then, consider me your willing student, Professor."
Klaus returned her smile, as well as her kiss. He was finding himself falling more and more in love with her, especially now that she said she was willing to learn to alter her perception of time.
Note: Enjoy, lovelies! Never give up on our couple! Klaroline is the future!
